Tom Anderson, no longer a fan of myspace….

In the past, myspace used to be a hot website, in social media. Now it’s nothing anymore. Guess what folks? Tom Anderson actually agrees with everyone that myspace has turned to shit!!!

Tom Anderson, the former head honcho of myspace, took to his facebook, to give his thoughts, he said:

“People seem very confused why I’m on Facebook. I’ve had a profile since 2005 and a “fan page” since 2009. FB just created a feature where you can “subscribe” to profiles. They asked me if I wanted to convert my “page” into a simpler profile. Complicated? I suppose. Why am I not on MySpace? Because, I left the company in early 2009, and like most of you, I don’t like using it anymore.. not a fan of what the new folks have done with MySpace.”

I can totally see why everyone is on facebook now, instead of myspace.

The way it is set up is horrible. Adding random friends without your approval is not cool as well. Plus, way too much spam and advertisements. I think the main reason why people don’t use myspace anymore ’cause the website is full of dangerous viruses and spyware.

I don’t even go to that site anymore at all myself.

Even though facebook, still kind of sucks, I can understand why people use it anyway ’cause it’s the only safe place to keep in touch with people you know and family members.

I continue to use facebook ’cause one of the reasons is that I have family members out of state, mostly in California. That’s why I stay in facebook so I can stay in touch with them. Although I do enjoy using facebook to keep in touch with my own supporters/fans, local musicians, and network my blog.

Who needs myspace anyway.

Thought: Facebook is just like TMZ, but ten times worse…

I love it when people call TMZ, a bad site, when the reality is, Facebook has way more gossip than TMZ. Seriously think about it. I don’t use facebook for stupid bullshit. I pretty much use it to network my blog site. That’s pretty much it, really. In other words, using my facebook page to promote my blog and my music.

I stay out of everyone else’s drama and personal lives. Facebook maybe a good place to rant if you’re having a bad day and facebook maybe a good place to make personal things public, but truthfully it isn’t.

When couples get together, split up, get married or even divorced, you immediately know about it ’cause it’s all on facebook. Quite sad really. It’s the same way when celebrity couples get married and split ’cause you heard it on TMZ. No difference!

You must use facebook carefully and responsibly and a lot of people don’t. What you post online is there forever, people don’t forget these things. You put yourself out there in a negative direction, people will look at you in a negative way.

This is why I use my facebook page to talk my usual topics: movies, music, wrestling, fitness, etc. It’s best to keep my personal life out of things ’cause this stuff could quickly spread around everywhere on the internet and people could make terrible rumors about you.

It isn’t facebook that makes the site terrible, it’s HOW you use it!!!! Use facebook responsibly and carefully, things will be fine!

“You Know You’re From (Your Hometown Here) when…” topic has taken over facebook…

I usually hate trending topics in facebook, but finally here’s one that everyone is doing that I actually like. People are doing this, “You Know You’re From (Your Home Town Here) when” in facebook groups. I like it because it’s a way for everyone in your hometown to get together to talk about the past or whatever. It helps brings your old classmates, old friends and people you know you haven’t seen in a while back together. Plus, it helps brings a lot of memories about your past in your hometown.

In the Greenwich group, it certainly is helping me remember my past in Greenwich. It’s helping me remembering my childhood a lot more. These “hometown” groups and discussions has quickly became so addicting. I can’t stay out of them.

Who ever the one who came up with this idea in facebook deserves some kudos. Finally a good topic where everyone can appreciate and get into. Something serious for once.

This is very cool!

Report: Nirvana “Nevermind” album cover photo censored on facebook!!!

When Nirvana was going to promote their “Deluxe Edition” of “Nevermind”, facebook staff pulled the album cover you see above because of the naked baby on the photo. Facebook said it was against the TOS because nudity wasn’t allowed.

Read more on the story, here.

That is pretty silly and wrong for facebook to do that. Nirvana has been around way before facebook was launched.

It seems the team behind Nirvana negotiated with facebook to have the picture back on their page because it looks like Nirvana has it back up, here.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to the Nevermind “20th Anniversary Delux edition”. I love Nirvana. Yep, facebook enforces the TOS on everybody, doesn’t matter if you’re a famous band or celebrity. They take action on everybody no matter who breaks the rules.

Thought: After thinking about a while, I don’t think raising the price of Netflix is that big of a deal, chill out people, I think it’s fair!!!

So Netflix announced the controversial price raise to 60%, and of course, they got a backlash for it. I was kind of pissed a little bit at first, but after thinking about it a while, I began to understood why they did this. I’m keeping my Netflix and not canceling.

You know how when you go rent a movie from your local video store in town, well isn’t the cost pretty much the same thing as you watch stuff on Netflix? The same with going to the movies at the theater. It’s no different than watching movies on PPV or the internet either. Do the math and figure it out.

I still support Netflix. I like the company. It’s a lazy way of watching movies & TV shows without having to go to the store to buy or rent the DVD, you can do all that stuff right at home. I also think people are overreacting over the price a little bit. The price raise is an opportunity to help get better stuff to stream on Netflix like newer TV shows and movies like they already have been doing. So I can’t blame them for doing what they are doing.

They are a business. They need money to stay alive. Netflix rocks, they still get my support.

Report: “Star Trek – The Next Generation” is now streamable on Netflix…

Announced today, all 7 seasons of “Star Trek – The Next Generation” are now streamable for Netflix along with “Voyager” and “Enterprise”. I’m such a huge Star Trek “TNG” fan and I’m looking forward to watching this show all over again.

I’m glad Paramount let Netflix stream Star Trek series, because Star Trek still deserves to get known. Star Trek isn’t for everyone, but I suggest people to try and get into it. I’m a big Trekkie, and quite proud of it too. Have been a Trekkie ever since I was a child.

Thanks to Paramount and Netflix for this. I’m excited!

Thought: Is facebook really the devil of social media? I would think so…

Okay, I’ll admit it. I hate facebook. Fucking hate it. Why do I continue to use it anyway? The only reason I’m at facebook is I use it to help promote my blog site, music, and hoping to get gig opportunities. I also go there to interact with local musicians that I know around the area and talk with fans/supporters in a more personal way. Sure, I use it hoping to make some new friends in my life, keep in touch with old class mates from school I haven’t seen in a long time and keep in touch with family members, but I mostly use it to promote my website & music. That’s pretty much it.

Read this little article on how Facebook is turning more users off, here.

My personal facebook page seems to get more action with people there than here in this blog. People respond to my posts more there instead of here. Not sure why that is, maybe people don’t feel like registering to a wordpress site? I have to leave my site where people have to register just to keep anonymous haters out of here.

I agree with that one person in that article that mothers posting pictures of their newborn kids publicly in facebook is wrong. Even worse, mothers even post x-ray photos of unborn babies publicly. I don’t know why couples make this stuff publicly when this stuff should be for your own privacy to enjoy. Not only that, posting pics of your children online is very dangerous. People don’t know how dangerous this is, no wonder predators and pedophiles are on the rise. That’s why it’s dangerous. It could attract criminals to your pages. Kids have been kidnapped because social media is part of the reason. No wonder so many children go missing these days.

More reasons on how facebook is the devil, too many people are drama queens. People have weird communication skills. People can get pretty negative in their walls and comment discussions as well. I also don’t like how couples make their romantic lives public when it should be private. People also post too much personal information about their lives when they don’t realize what they are doing. When women have relationship troubles or having trouble hooking up with a guy, all they do is complain about it.

Plus, people use facebook irresponsibly because too many illiterate people use the site to play facebook games, a lot of them catch facebook viruses, etc.

I thought about leaving the site too, but I don’t think I can. Need to keep in touch with musicians and venues who might want to book me for gigs, that’s why I stay there. Facebook is shit. It continues to be shit with their new settings and features that I don’t like on there as well.

Cool Video: Brent Spiner’s “Fresh Hell” web series…

Here is Brent Spiner’s latest acting project that he has going on now. It’s a web series being released exclusively for youtube. So far, there’s 5 episodes, I just watched them all today. Short episodes. Brent Spiner aka Data from “Star Trek”. In the series, he plays himself. It’s about Brent trying to get his acting career back on track after losing everything, the fame he had with Star Trek TNG. He helps this woman named, Dakota (played by Kat Steel) and her agent tries to talk Brent into working in the porn industry. In the series, Brent wasn’t up for the porn thing and wanted to find a different manager he can trust.

I’m actually enjoying the series so far. It’s pretty funny and entertaining. It’s a comedy series and fiction, but from the looks of things, there’s a lot of real life material in the series that are from Brent’s real life.

Watch the 5 episodes, here.

Brent Spiner is an underrated actor who I admired for a long time. After Star Trek TNG, he also became famous for his role in “Independence Day”, starring Will Smith.

Brent needs to get back into acting in a huge way again. He was rumored to return as Data for the next “Star Trek” movie, but he kept saying he will never play Data again.

Report: Winklevoss Brothers loses lawsuit against Mark Zuckerberg over facebook…

The Winklevoss’s long battle over Facebook against Mark Zuckerberg is finally over. A huge announcement made the news today, that the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, revealed they couldn’t undo their settlements. They were calling for a $20 million cash payment and partial ownership of, Facebook. The appeal is rejected by the judge.

More on it, here.

Hmmmm, big victory here for Mark Zuckerberg, but I have a feeling that the Winklevoss twins won’t give up on their fight. They’ll find another way to get share of Facebook with good lawyers. I don’t think this feud is done yet. Mark is probably smiling and relieved….for now anyway.

Report: Myspace, not a good site anymore? I would say so…

Around the year 2006, myspace was once a hot social networking site. Myspace took over the world for a couple of years. I’ll admit, myspace used to be cool. Why is the myspace popularity dropping? First off, the site has virus’s and possibly spyware. That never used to happen to myspace before. I bet that’s why more people deleted their myspace accounts because of the huge virus’s the site has now. Plus, it’s too much spam and it’s more of an advertising site than social networking. Bands and celebrities took over the site to promote their careers, that’s another reason. Facebook became the next hot social networking site. Facebook took over myspace big time, obviously.

Secondly, another reason people are losing respect to Myspace is because their new design is shit and pages take too long and too damn slow to load. Myspace isn’t what it used to be. I don’t even go there myself that much. It’s pretty sad to what myspace has become. Now they are trying to compete with facebook which they fail miserably. Myspace will never be the hot social networking site anymore.
