Why I’m not getting the new albums by Pink Floyd or Ac/Dc…

To be honest, I don’t think I’m gonna get the new albums by either Pink Floyd or Ac/Dc. Pink Floyd released a new album called, “Endless River” which is a tribute to Rick Wright and unreleased material recorded around the “Division Bell” sessions. Honestly, I wasn’t too impressed with their new song that just came out, “Louder Than Words” in which David Gilmour sings. I wasn’t too impressed with that song at all. It was kind of boring and un-listenable at best. I listened to other clips of the album in ITunes and wasn’t too thrilled about the other tracks so I don’t think I’m gonna get it. I do like Pink Floyd, I prefer their older stuff with Syd Barrett and Roger Waters. I’ve noticed that “Endless River” is getting mostly negative reviews so I guess the rest of the Pink Floyd fanbase would come to an agreement that this new album release is a bit of a let down and disappointment.

As for Ac/Dc, I’m not really all that thrilled with their new songs either. It’s just the same typical three or four chord pop songs that Ac/Dc have always been known to writing. Plus, I don’t want to get an Ac/Dc album that doesn’t have Malcolm Young on guitar.

I don’t think I’m gonna get these two albums at all and think I’m gonna skip ’em.

I am gonna get the new Smashing Pumpkins album, “Monuments To An Elegy”, I’ve been impressed with the songs that Billy Corgan have been releasing so far so I’m probably gonna end up buying that one. There are still a few other albums I need to get that came out earlier this year like Fozzy “Do You Wanna Start A War”, Primus “Primus & the Chocolate Factory”, Opeth “Pale Communion” and Judas Priest “Redeemer of Souls”. I’ll try to get to those albums pretty soon.

I’ll have to admit that 2014 was a pretty decent year of music. I purchased quite a bit of new albums this year and I usually don’t buy too many new albums. When will my top music list be up this year? At the end of year I usually do a Top 10 Best of but this year, I think I’m gonna make it a top 15. So at the end of December I’m gonna do a list of Top 15 Best Music Albums of 2014. I’ll do the same for movies too. I’ll make the Top 15 Best of Music and Movies lists in a video blog at the end of the year… either at the end of Dec. or beginning of January.

Looks like Ac/Dc is gonna lose another founding member…

Ac/Dc was pretty quick in responding to Phil Rudd’s arrest as you can see here. I’m sure the band is just as shocked as we all are. The band going through another setback. First they lose their founding member and rhythm guitarist, Malcolm Young and it looks like they’re gonna lose another member. If Phil is found guilty for trying to have two men killed, he could be put away in prison for a long time so lets hope he is innocent.

As you can see, even though the band lost two members… they are still going forward with their world tour so it now looks like they’re gonna have to replace a drummer. They’ve dealt with setbacks in the past before with the passing of their original frontman Bon Scott so I’m sure they’re used to it.

Although the band lost two members now, they just can’t hang it up. Do you know that old saying, “The show must go on”. Well, they booked a pretty lengthy world tour for their 40th Anniversary. It’s their 40th Anniversary so they can’t call it quit.

I hope Phil won’t be guilty of this crime so he can go on with the tour. We’ll wait and see what happens.

This is the name of the game when you play in bands. You’ll deal with a lot of setbacks. A lot of ups and downs. Your whole career is not always gonna be positive and happy. That’s just the way life is.

Ac/Dc releases new song, “Play Ball”…

Ac/Dc just dropped their new song, “Play Ball” today. A song from their upcoming new album, “Rock or Bust”. Their first album without guitarist Malcolm Young. Stu Young played guitar on the album. Despite the new guitarist, the band’s sound and style is still the same which doesn’t surprise me.

The new song is okay, I guess. Nothing amazing or mind blowing. Just your typical Ac/Dc pop song which kind of reminds me of “You Shook Me All Night Long” a little bit.

Like I said before, there’s gonna be a lot of complainers and whiners that Ac/Dc will continue without Malcolm but they did the same thing when Bon Scott (the original singer) died. They were successful at replacing a new singer without a public backlash and I’m sure they will do the same with their new guitarist.

The boys in Ac/Dc are good like that. They really know how to pick their members without their fans making complaints like, “Waaah, they are not true Ac/Dc!”. When other legendary bands continue on with new members, they usually get a public backlash by their fans but when Ac/Dc does it, that doesn’t happen to them. So far, I haven’t seen much complaints from fans of Ac/Dc continuing on without Malcolm. The guys Ac/Dc are pretty careful when choosing members, they know what they’re doing.

Anyway, I’m sure it kills the band going on without Malcolm but like they all say, “The shows must go on”. The band is moving forward ’cause they know that’s what Malcolm would have wanted. It’s been confirmed by Malcolm’s family that he’s suffering Dementia which means that he’s suffering memory loss. That also means that Malcolm probably doesn’t even remember playing in a band called Ac/Dc and he won’t remember who his band mates are anymore. That also means that he must of forgotten how to play guitar due to memory loss and he won’t be able to play ’cause of that. Look like Malcolm’s guitar playing days are over. If he was to relearn guitar over again… it would take years. I still wish Malcolm well.

I’m a huge fan of Ac/Dc always have been. I love both eras of Ac/Dc, Bon Scott and Brian Johnson. I’ll still get their new album, though.

AC/DC previews their new song, “Play Ball”…

Ac/Dc have just released a little preview of their new song, “Play Ball”, which will be a song off their new upcoming album titled, “Rock or Bust”. TBS exclusively released the new song as it will be the opening intro for the MLB baseball post-season games.

Knowing Ac/Dc pretty well, I’m 100% positive that this song, “Play Ball” isn’t about baseball, LOL!

One of the things that Ac/Dc is great at is writing songs about sex — they wrote a lot of songs about sex and dirty things but still Brian Johnson was able to make the lyrics positive and family friendly. Ac/Dc wrote a lot of songs about sex and women like “You Shook Me All Night Long” for starters and “Big Balls” is another one, I think. Also, “Dirty Deeds” and “The Jack” are a few more sexual songs. They are good at writing dirty songs even if you didn’t know it. That’s one of the reasons why I respected Ac/Dc so much over the years.

As you can hear in this track, they don’t sound any different even without Malcolm on guitar as I predicted it. Their style is still the same which is good.

Ac/Dc will release “Rock Or Bust” on Dec. 2nd, first new album without Malcolm Young…

Ac/Dc revealed the title of their next album which is gonna be called, “Rock Or Bust” and will be released on Dec. 2nd of this year. After a 41 year long career of Ac/Dc, this will be the first studio album by Ac/Dc without Malcolm Young.

While it’s good news that Ac/Dc is finally releasing a new album this year, it’s also very sad news that Malcolm will not be returning to the band due to his health.

More here:

I know there’s gonna be a lot of whiners and complainers that Ac/Dc is moving on without Malcolm on guitar. There’s gonna be a lot of complaints like, “it’s not Ac/Dc without Malcolm”. Well, I’m pretty sure fans felt the same when Ac/Dc continued on without Bon Scott as singer back in the day. Well guess what, Ac/Dc successfully got away with replacing a singer. I will think they will do the same with the guitarist.

I’m actually interested in hearing what Ac/Dc is gonna sound like with a new guitarist. They’ve had the same style and sound for years with Malcolm as guitarist. So with a new guitarist, I’m sure the band’s sound will be slightly different so it’s gonna be interesting to hear the difference.

Like I said in a post before, founding members of legendary bands leave all the time. It happens in the music business.

These bands continue on without their founding members ’cause that’s what they’re made to do. They have to keep going. They just can’t quit. Like they all say, the show’s got to go on and it’s true. These bands love what they do. They keep going ’cause music is in their blood.

I’m pretty sure Ac/Dc got Malcolm’s blessing to go on without him, anyways. Two rock giants coming out with new albums this year: Ac/Dc and Pink Floyd. I’ll be getting them both.

Ac/Dc finishes new album but without Malcolm Young…

Brian Johnson, the frontman of Ac/Dc, reveals that the legendary rock band have finished their new album; however, they had to do it without their long time guitarist and founding member, Malcolm Young. Malcolm couldn’t play on it ’cause of his health so he had his nephew Stevie play on it instead.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ac-dc-share-new-album-details-malcolm-young-health-update-20140709

Ac/Dc with a different guitarist? That’s weird coming from Ac/Dc ’cause they never had different guitarists over the years, I believe. It has always been Angus and Malcolm doing the guitar work.

While I’m sure the band’s style and sound will remain the same, I’m sure the band’s sound will be slightly different for the new album ’cause of Malcolm’s replacement guitarist, Stevie. It’s going to be interesting to hear what the band will sound like with Stevie, a different guy. It must be hard for the boys in Ac/Dc with a new guitarist ’cause they’ve been so used to Malcolm over the years.

Look like we’re gonna see a new Ac/Dc album later this year. I predict the album will come out in the Fall/Winter???

I wish Malcolm well and looking forward to their new record. I’ve always been an Ac/Dc fan.

Why are so many people acting like Malcolm Young is gonna die??? Settle down people…

It’s pretty insane how so many Ac/Dc fans are going nuts about Malcolm’s health. Some even went as far as putting Malcolm tributes on their facebook pages and shit like that. Giving Malcolm their well-wishes and all that stuff. I mean, everyone is acting like Malcolm is gonna die or something. I’m like seriously?

The band made it pretty clear today that Malcolm is only gonna take a break so that probably means his illness is not all that serious and he could recover from it easily. He’s just taking a break until he feels better again and then he will re-join the group.

Malcolm have taken breaks from the band many times before so this is nothing new. They won’t get into details of his illness but that doesn’t mean his illness is life-threatening. Malcolm is probably okay enough to record in the studio with them but he won’t be able to tour with them for a while. I think that’s what they mean.

It’s okay. Nothing’s gonna happen to Malcolm! I give him my well-wishes too!

Ac/Dc releases official statement…. squashes retirement rumors but confirms Malcolm is sick…

Welp. Here you have it. Ac/Dc just released statement, squashing retirement rumors totally but they confirm Malcolm is sick. So it’s looking like Ac/Dc will go on without Malcolm for a while. Look like they got Malcolm’s blessing to do so. I’m sure fans are gonna be all ignorant and have negative opinions of them moving on without Malcolm but they have to. They’re not just a band. They’re an institution. A brand. They’re a business. So the show must go on. The band still have plenty of music left in them. The band can’t hang it up ’cause that’s what they do. They’re musicians and Ac/Dc is a family like Brian Johnson just said in a previous article.

I’m glad the band never changed their image and style of music. A lot of bands change their style of music every album but Ac/Dc refuses to do that. Their next album will probably have the same sound they had for the last 40 years. Their usual simplistic power chord riffing that they’ve always been known for.

Will Ac/Dc get a guitarist replacement for Malcolm for a while or is Angus gonna be the only guitarist for the band for now??? We’ll know more soon.

Kev

Ac/Dc NOT retiring, says Brian Johnson…

Brian Johnson, the frontman of Ac/Dc,  squashes retirement rumors to the Telegraph. He does confirm; however, that Malcolm is “debilitating” sick but the band is still planning a possible new album and a possible 40 Year Anniversary tour.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-news/10769783/ACDC-We-are-not-retiring.html

See? Told ya so. When you get the news from someone else, it’s probably not true. The news will be official once you hear it from the band themselves. So there you have it, folks. Ac/Dc, not going away anytime soon. It’s look like they still have a lot of music left in them. 🙂

Why are they taking so long to release an album and tour? Maybe they’re just taking a break and relaxing. Spending time with their families and stuff. I’m sure Angus and Malcolm are still making music and jamming together, though.

The band will probably release an official statement squashing retirement rumors on their official site and their official facebook page soon.

Don’t be quick in believing those Ac/Dc break-up rumors…

Now I know how the rumors of the Ac/Dc breakup started, it amazes me how quickly people believe everything they read on the internet. The rumors started on twitter by guys who claim to be close friends of the band. Sure enough, a lot of people are actually believing it. Sending Malcolm their well-wishes and thanking the band for a good 40 years. I’m like scratching my head like, huh? They really believe those guys from twitter who claim to be friends of the band? What if they aren’t really close to the band at all and they’re just trying to stir up controversy for attention to themselves?

I think there’s a 100% good chance that the band is gonna squash the breakup rumor and the Malcolm health problems. I think the band is gonna put out a statement calling the rumors a bunch of bullshit and that the band vows to make a new album and go on tour. That’s what I’m thinking.

Anyway, you guys… you’ll know when a band is done when you hear from the band themselves. If the news comes from somebody else, you can’t believe it. I’m not believing the break-up rumors until the band says so themselves.

The band will probably address these rumors this week… hopefully tomorrow. They’re an institution much like Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones, etc. If it turns out true that Ac/Dc is breaking up ’cause of Malcolm’s health, then my bad. I don’t think it’s true if the news came from someone else and not them, ya know? Are people really this naive?
