“The Wrestler” is one of the best sports movies ever made, just as good as the first “Rocky”!!!

As some of you know, I’m a long time die hard profesional wrestling fanatic. I love the sports entertainment stuff to death. I just got done watching, “The Wrestler” finally, and yes, you betcha, I fucking LOVED the movie! Amazing! Jaw dropping!

Darren Aronofsky, definitely knows his shit with the wrestling business. After watching this film, now I can understand why Vince McMahon didn’t like the film that much because Darren exposed the world what profesional wrestling is really all about. It proved that wrestling is fake, and showed the world what it’s like with wrestlers, steroids, and drugs.

Mickey Rourke is some of the best acting, I’ve ever seen in the flick, he was just as good as Sylvester Stallone in the first, “Rocky”. “The Wrestler” is definitely the “Rocky” of this generation.

“The Wrestler” immediately headed up to one of my top 5 favorite films ever made. Ya know, that public feud with Chris Jericho vs. Mickey Rourke for Wrestlemania, try to understand that they aren’t enemies in real life. I’m pretty sure that Jericho and Rourke are great friends behind the scenes, they acted like enemies as part of a wrestling storyline. So in reality, Jericho doesn’t hate Mickey Rourke and all the wrestling legends, Jericho loves and respects them all, of course. Everything about wrestling you see on TV is scripted and storyline stuff.

I have recognized a WWE wrestler that made a cameo in the movie, and his name is Ron Killings, who now wrestles under the name of R-truth on the Smackdown roster. Ron Killings also used to be the Truth in TNA and K-Kwik.

This was a brilliant movie and pretty realistic too. Even if you’re not a fan of profesional wrestling, I would suggest all to watch this. You would understand why we love it so much.

I just love profesional wrestling and I understand why it’s not for everybody but the wrestling business deserves the respect ’cause they work hard to entertain us and put smiles on their faces. This movie gives you an idea of what it’s like being a profesional wrestler.

I feel bad that Mickey Rourke was robbed of the Oscar. This movie will be talked about for years. Will there be a sequel to this movie ’cause the ending kind of left open for another film? I think this will be a continuing series just like Rocky.

Report: Aronofsky to screen “The Wrestler” for Vince McMahon…

While many real life wrestlers came out to “The Wrestler” premiere in Los Angeles and most wrestlers in America enjoyed “The Wrestler”, directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Mickey Rourke, it makes you wonder if Vince McMahon, chairman/owner of the WWE came out to see the movie?

Well, the truth is, Vince didn’t see the movie yet. Darren Aronofsky wanted Vince McMahon to see it. So Aronofsky, went to McMahon’s home in Connecticut and showed a private screening of “The Wrestler” for McMahon alone.

Vinnie Mac, has not yet gave out a public review of his thoughts of the film but hopefully he will soon. I’m sure the wrestling community is dying to know his thoughts. Will Vince McMahon even invite Mickey Rourke to the WWE to perform a storyline and have a ppv match? Would it be freakin’ cool if it would be Vince McMahon vs. Mickey Rourke at Wrestlemania 25? Hell yeah!!!

Report: Aronofsky originally wanted Sly Stallone and Nic Cage for “The Wrestler”…

Film director Darren Aronofsky revealed that Mickey Rourke wasn’t the first choice to play Randy “The Ram” Robinson in the film “The Wrestler”. First choice in line was Nicolas Cage, but Nic Cage turned the movie down due to creative differences, sounded like Nic Cage didn’t like the script and moved on. Second choice was Sylvester Stallone. Aronofsky explains how he was trying to get Sly back in the ring again but Sly has been too busy working on “Rocky Balboa” at the time. Then Mickey Rourke accepted the role.

From the article below:

http://www.azcentral.com/ent/movies/articles/2008/11/28/20081128wrestler-rourke.html

Rourke, for several reasons, wasn’t the first choice for the role – and, for those same reasons, he wasn’t the easiest person to stay first choice. Aronofsky now says that the story that Nicolas Cage was the original choice and bowed out in deference to Rourke “is a bit overblown,” but he concedes that Sylvester Stallone was on his short list early on. “I was thinking it’d be interesting to see him go back to the ring in some way because he’s so good in the ring. Then he did ‘Rocky Balboa,’ the latest ‘Rocky,’ and it kinda ruled it out for me because it was about an older guy going back to the ring. There were enough connections there that I didn’t want to go near it.”

I’m dying to see “The Wrestler” but I don’t know if the Wilton Mall will ever get it though. The film is not a nationwide release, only in selected theaters so I’ll just wait for DVD on this one. The movie does look amazing though.

I don’t know if Sly would go for a wrestler type of movie anyways, he’s more of a boxing movie star.

Edit to add: I just remembered that Sly Stallone wrote, directed and starred in “Paradise Alley” one of Stallone’s older movies and that movie is wrestling related. So Sly is definitely a fan of wrestling too so never know, he could have done “The Wrestler”.

Report: Darren Aronofsky comes home with golden lion award for his movie “The Wrestler” from Venice Film Festival…

Film maker Darren Aronofsky won the big golden lion award at the Venice Film Festival in Italy. It’s a film about profesional wrestling that stars Mickey Rourke. It is actually set in the independent world of wrestling, not really into the pros yet. Rourke plays Randy “The Ram” Robinson who makes a comeback to wrestling to continue for his revenge to feud with his former rival.

Variety reports:

As a huge lifelong fan of the profesional wrestling industry, of course, I have grown interest in seeing this. So hopefully this film gets released around here soon.

Report: Bruce Springsteen writes new song for a film, and also gets a cameo in a comedy…

Bruce Springsteen the boss of rock n’ roll have written songs strictly for movies in Hollywood before. One song is “Streets of Philadelphia” for the film “Philadelphia”, and the other one is “Secret Garden” for the film “Jerry Maguire”. Both of those tunes became major hits even though they weren’t included on any of Springsteen’s albums, just for the soundtracks alone.

Springsteen wrote an original song for Darren Aronofsky’s next film “The Wrestler” for the closing credits, Springsteen wrote a song for the film under the same title of the movie.

In other movie projects, Springsteen lands his first acting role for a small cameo in a film titled “Funny People” which is a comedy film. The screen writer written Springsteen in the film for a hilarious scene. Springsteen never had an acting role before.
