Tom Anderson, no longer a fan of myspace….

In the past, myspace used to be a hot website, in social media. Now it’s nothing anymore. Guess what folks? Tom Anderson actually agrees with everyone that myspace has turned to shit!!!

Tom Anderson, the former head honcho of myspace, took to his facebook, to give his thoughts, he said:

“People seem very confused why I’m on Facebook. I’ve had a profile since 2005 and a “fan page” since 2009. FB just created a feature where you can “subscribe” to profiles. They asked me if I wanted to convert my “page” into a simpler profile. Complicated? I suppose. Why am I not on MySpace? Because, I left the company in early 2009, and like most of you, I don’t like using it anymore.. not a fan of what the new folks have done with MySpace.”

I can totally see why everyone is on facebook now, instead of myspace.

The way it is set up is horrible. Adding random friends without your approval is not cool as well. Plus, way too much spam and advertisements. I think the main reason why people don’t use myspace anymore ’cause the website is full of dangerous viruses and spyware.

I don’t even go to that site anymore at all myself.

Even though facebook, still kind of sucks, I can understand why people use it anyway ’cause it’s the only safe place to keep in touch with people you know and family members.

I continue to use facebook ’cause one of the reasons is that I have family members out of state, mostly in California. That’s why I stay in facebook so I can stay in touch with them. Although I do enjoy using facebook to keep in touch with my own supporters/fans, local musicians, and network my blog.

Who needs myspace anyway.

“You Know You’re From (Your Hometown Here) when…” topic has taken over facebook…

I usually hate trending topics in facebook, but finally here’s one that everyone is doing that I actually like. People are doing this, “You Know You’re From (Your Home Town Here) when” in facebook groups. I like it because it’s a way for everyone in your hometown to get together to talk about the past or whatever. It helps brings your old classmates, old friends and people you know you haven’t seen in a while back together. Plus, it helps brings a lot of memories about your past in your hometown.

In the Greenwich group, it certainly is helping me remember my past in Greenwich. It’s helping me remembering my childhood a lot more. These “hometown” groups and discussions has quickly became so addicting. I can’t stay out of them.

Who ever the one who came up with this idea in facebook deserves some kudos. Finally a good topic where everyone can appreciate and get into. Something serious for once.

This is very cool!

Report: Nirvana “Nevermind” album cover photo censored on facebook!!!

When Nirvana was going to promote their “Deluxe Edition” of “Nevermind”, facebook staff pulled the album cover you see above because of the naked baby on the photo. Facebook said it was against the TOS because nudity wasn’t allowed.

Read more on the story, here.

That is pretty silly and wrong for facebook to do that. Nirvana has been around way before facebook was launched.

It seems the team behind Nirvana negotiated with facebook to have the picture back on their page because it looks like Nirvana has it back up, here.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to the Nevermind “20th Anniversary Delux edition”. I love Nirvana. Yep, facebook enforces the TOS on everybody, doesn’t matter if you’re a famous band or celebrity. They take action on everybody no matter who breaks the rules.

Thought: Is facebook really the devil of social media? I would think so…

Okay, I’ll admit it. I hate facebook. Fucking hate it. Why do I continue to use it anyway? The only reason I’m at facebook is I use it to help promote my blog site, music, and hoping to get gig opportunities. I also go there to interact with local musicians that I know around the area and talk with fans/supporters in a more personal way. Sure, I use it hoping to make some new friends in my life, keep in touch with old class mates from school I haven’t seen in a long time and keep in touch with family members, but I mostly use it to promote my website & music. That’s pretty much it.

Read this little article on how Facebook is turning more users off, here.

My personal facebook page seems to get more action with people there than here in this blog. People respond to my posts more there instead of here. Not sure why that is, maybe people don’t feel like registering to a wordpress site? I have to leave my site where people have to register just to keep anonymous haters out of here.

I agree with that one person in that article that mothers posting pictures of their newborn kids publicly in facebook is wrong. Even worse, mothers even post x-ray photos of unborn babies publicly. I don’t know why couples make this stuff publicly when this stuff should be for your own privacy to enjoy. Not only that, posting pics of your children online is very dangerous. People don’t know how dangerous this is, no wonder predators and pedophiles are on the rise. That’s why it’s dangerous. It could attract criminals to your pages. Kids have been kidnapped because social media is part of the reason. No wonder so many children go missing these days.

More reasons on how facebook is the devil, too many people are drama queens. People have weird communication skills. People can get pretty negative in their walls and comment discussions as well. I also don’t like how couples make their romantic lives public when it should be private. People also post too much personal information about their lives when they don’t realize what they are doing. When women have relationship troubles or having trouble hooking up with a guy, all they do is complain about it.

Plus, people use facebook irresponsibly because too many illiterate people use the site to play facebook games, a lot of them catch facebook viruses, etc.

I thought about leaving the site too, but I don’t think I can. Need to keep in touch with musicians and venues who might want to book me for gigs, that’s why I stay there. Facebook is shit. It continues to be shit with their new settings and features that I don’t like on there as well.

Report: Winklevoss Brothers loses lawsuit against Mark Zuckerberg over facebook…

The Winklevoss’s long battle over Facebook against Mark Zuckerberg is finally over. A huge announcement made the news today, that the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, revealed they couldn’t undo their settlements. They were calling for a $20 million cash payment and partial ownership of, Facebook. The appeal is rejected by the judge.

More on it, here.

Hmmmm, big victory here for Mark Zuckerberg, but I have a feeling that the Winklevoss twins won’t give up on their fight. They’ll find another way to get share of Facebook with good lawyers. I don’t think this feud is done yet. Mark is probably smiling and relieved….for now anyway.

Communicating mistakes that people make in Facebook…

Facebook is beginning to be a turn off, that I can understand why some people cancel their account and leave the site. I even thought of doing the same thing a few times. Why is facebook beginning to be a turn off?

Well, maybe it’s because of these reasons here:

  • People becoming too personal: FB maybe a good place to rant but don’t go too personal about your private life. Keep your money problems off the public. Also, your health problems and emotional problems as well. People even like to talk about their love life and sometimes even their sex life. It’s not a good idea to go on there to say you’re “depressed” and tell the whole world that your life is shit right now. All this stuff needs to be kept off the public. If you do, there will be consequences and will haunt you in the future.
  • Getting too negative in your status’s: When people are having a bad day, they’ll go in their facebook status and rant about it, even swearing up a storm sometimes. I try not to do this ’cause the whole world will be reading and you’ll surprised on how quick this stuff spreads around. You think you’re writing this stuff to yourself but other people can read.
  • Bashing and slamming other people : I see this happen quite often, drama will break out with other people in public that I can still read everything people say. Slamming other people in  your own friends lists isn’t cool. I’ve had my own facebook for a long while, and I never used it to slam people. I only add nice people to my friends lists. You know, people that are cool. I’ve had blocked assholes before.
  • Couples getting too dramatic: I’ve seen couples breakup over facebook and even married couples sometimes. They would fight and argue and their facebook friends will get into things. Couples personal problems in their relationship should be kept private. If you make these things public, then you have no right to do the relationship thing to begin with. I’ve seen girlfriend & boyfriend, and even married couples get a little too soap opera in public. Not cool. People like me don’t need to see all that shit.
  • Getting too sexual publicly: I’ve seen both men and women getting too sexual in their public status’s. Sometimes they talk about getting laid and how much they are into sex, and all that stuff. Also, not a cool thing. Your families could be reading this and it might affect your job, you could get fired because of it. Again, more consequences in the future.
  • Posting about how drunk and stoned you are: I’ve talked about this before on how this is a bad idea.

I can keep going on with this. If I think of more, I will edit it in.

Report: CNN’s article on “5 Facebook profile pics that makes you look like a tool”…

Give this article, a read.

Do you agree with it or not? The way I look it, I agree with some of it and don’t agree with some of it, both at the same time.

I do agree with CNN, that posting wedding pics on facebook right after you get married is a totally bad idea. Wedding pics are supposed to be for your own private use. When facebook came around, wedding memories are no longer private because people’s been posting their weddings on facebook lately. I do agree with CNN, that people posting default pics of their pets, baby pictures or an object is a bad idea. Lately a lot of people have been posting pics of their dogs, cats, etc. It’s not only stupid, it can be very dangerous. How can posting a pic of your pet be dangerous? It can lead to crime, simple as that. People close to you or neighbors can go to your house and steal your pet if they like it. Something to think about animal lovers.

As far as baby pics, go, same thing. Pregnant women would post pics of their x-rays with their baby inside their bellies. I think women posting those pics is wrong because things like that are supposed to be for your own private use. I mean, shouldn’t women be sharing baby images with their boyfriends/husbands alone? When the baby is born, mothers would post new born pics of babies as their profile pics. Knowing how facebook child predators is on the rise, that’s how it can be dangerous.

People posting up party pictures. I see it all the time. Plenty of facebook users would post up pics of themselves with a beer in their hand or worse a joint or smoking a bong. Not cool. You could lose your jobs or won’t get hired for one, and lots of consequences will happen because of it.

What do I think about guys putting up shirtless pics of themselves and women posting sexy looking pics (lots of make-up and cleavage, etc.) of themselves on facebook? Well that’s one thing I completely disagree with. I think this is completely normal. If people want to show off, go for it. I find nothing wrong with sexy women pictures because personally, I enjoy my eye candy. It’s one thing I like to do is look at cute pictures of women in facebook. It’s the same thing as looking at sexy women through men’s magazines such as Maxim, FHM, Playboy, etc.

This is the reason why I only talk about entertainment news online: music, movies, fitness, etc. It’s just my way of keeping my personal life off the internet. I try to be careful not to put my life online, but I talk about entertainment news online for a reason. Many people put their lives online for the world to see, but with me, I try not to do that. It’s the best way to keep yourself safe.

Thought: About the Bristol and Willow Palin vs. Tre facebook war….

The Palins are no stranger to controversy and here is their latest one. Bristol and Willow get into a huge flame war in their facebook pages with a guy named Tre, arguing about, “Dancing With the Stars”. Tre said something about the Palin family, and Bristol actually took the time to respond to him. Bashing the hell out of the guy in return.

In my opinion, I don’t find any of this that big of a deal. In fact, I find it comical and funny. To be fair for Bristol and Willow, they are no different than all other kids. This is how most kids in their teens and early 20’s talk to each other. They call each other gay slurs or names like retard and all that for laughs. That’s how kids are. I know I’ve been around kids that talked like that around that age. Everyone expects the Palin kids to be nice and friendly because they are in the political world. That’s why this is all over the news.

The only reason Tre’ is responding back to them, he’s not doing it to defend himself ’cause he clearly doesn’t care. I’m willing to bet he’s not offended at all being called those names. He’s laughing ass off. He’s finding it amusing arguing with two famous people who happen to be the daughters of a famous politician, Sarah Palin. So he kept responding back, pissing the girls off some more.

I would do the same thing, if a famous person responds to me online and starts an argument publicly, I’d keep it going ’cause personally, I would find it cool as hell being flamed by a famous person and that’s probably what this guy felt. I don’t take any of this seriously. I’m not defending Bristol and Willow, I’m just trying to tell that this is how kids are. They do no wrong.

Film Review: The Social Network

Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Joseph Mazello, Rooney Mara

Directed by: David Fincher

So tonight, I just saw the movie, “The Social Network”, yes, the Facebook movie. Here is my review.

Plot/Synopsis: This is not a biopic about Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook founder/owner. It’s about how he started the site. The movie is about a young college student, named Mark Zuckerberg who starts a website named, “Facemash” after breaking up with his girlfriend, Erica Albright. It was a site made for Harvard school for male students to decide which two female students are more attractive. Later on in the film, Mark came up with the idea of “The Facebook” a social networking site for Harvard students only where students can have the opportunity to post their personal information publicly. Throughout the film, Mark tries to battle through different lawsuits that were filed by other Harvard students. From there, this is how Mark Zuckerberg is able to create the most popular social networking site in the world, aka, Facebook…still going strong today and the site that made the kid rich.

Well, I was totally surprised by the movie. I definitely think it was the best movie I’ve seen all year long. This is true cinema. The way movies should be made. The script was perfect. Cast was perfect. David Fincher gives the film a dark feel like he usually does with all of his movies, but there was a lot of humor in this film. What I was most impressed the most with the film, was the brilliant acting by the cast. Usually in a movie, you see one or two good actors…but in this one, prettty much the entire cast did an amazing acting job all around. It was some of the best acting by a cast I’ve seen in a long time. Jesse Eisenberg was great. His best role.

Trent Reznor’s score for the movie was pretty haunting and dark. Trent gave the music a moody feeling, just what the film needed.

I wasn’t bored at all with this movie. Didn’t fall asleep or nothing. It was entertaining all the way through. I know this isn’t a long detailed review but if a film is perfect, there’s not much to say about it. This movie definitely does have Oscar award written all over it. It will be best picture of the year for sure. I don’t know if Jesse Eisenberg will win Best Actor for leading role of this flick, but he definitely will get nominated. If there was an actor from this film to win an award, I would hand it to Andrew Garfield who did the best acting job of them all. Andrew Garfield did a jaw dropping performance. That kid is one talented actor. Best Supporting Actor for Andrew Garfield, all the way!

This is David Fincher’s best directed film ever. Most say, Chris Nolan’s “Inception” was the best movie of 2010? No way. This movie  here, “The Social Network” is the best film of the year, in my opinion. I’m glad David Fincher finally did a film that is based on real things instead of all these silly thriller flicks he’s known to do. This film was brilliant. Do yourself a favor and go see it soon if you haven’t yet.

Score for “The Social Network” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent)
