JJ will still produce “Star Trek III” and “MI: 5″…

Even if JJ signed on to direct “Star Wars 7”, he will still make “Star Trek III” and “Mission Impossible 5”, but will only serve as producer. I can’t blame him for jumping onto Star Wars, instead, though.

More on the story, here.

Can JJ save the Star Wars franchise after the crappy prequels? I think he possibly could. It would be great to see Luke Skywalker back as the leading character. Mark Hamill is not that old, now, he’s just 61. He’s still a young guy. I’m sure he can still do lightsaber fights  just fine. 🙂

Thought: Despite the lens flares and shaky cameras, I think JJ will stay true to the Star Wars universe…

A lot of people worry that JJ will take Star Wars to a different direction, I did at first, but after thinking about it, I think JJ will stay true to the Star Wars  world. He will try to make Star Wars similar to how George Lucas did it, but of course, JJ will put his own style into the film too. No, I don’t think JJ will load up the opening Star Wars crawl with lens flares, and I’m sure the John Williams opening theme will still be there.

Thing is, you just never know how JJ is going to make the next Star Wars film. He’s going to bring us a lot of secrecy just like he did with his previous films. We will never know if Han, Leia, or Luke will be a part of this story ’cause he’s going to be secretive about it. The same whether or not Darth Vader or Yoda will make a return. For “Super 8”, he wouldn’t show us the monster in the film until the film came out, and he wouldn’t reveal the “Star Trek: Into Darkness” villain until later. Who knows what he’ll pull on us for the next “Star Wars” film. Yes, the script for Star Wars 7 is already finished, so we’ll never know what the plot will be.

Now that a director is finally found, you should expect casting to start real soon. There is no chance of Natalie Portman or Hayden Christensen returning, of course, but Samuel L. Jackson has a chance in returning, though. If the story does continue the lives of Han, Leia and Luke, that would be pretty amazing. Lando needs to comeback too, and yes, Chewbacca as well. C3p0 and R2 will probably return. The whole Star Wars gang just might come back.

Honestly, I don’t want Vader to return, I hope they made a new villain. I think JJ will make the light saber battles and the tie fighter scenes pretty enjoyable. JJ might do a good job, so I will give him a chance, ’cause I liked what he did with Star Trek. That’s probably what Disney wanted him for ’cause they liked what he did with Trek.

JJ is not dumb. He will give what all Star Wars fan would want, a great Star Wars movie. He’ll do the Star Wars franchise justice like he did with Trek. I think he will do fine.

BREAKING NEWS: JJ Abrams first turned down to direct “Star Wars 7”, he’s now on board!!!

Welp, news broke the web today that JJ Abrams is officially on board to direct, “Star Wars 7”. First, JJ denied any involvement with Star Wars, that he didn’t want any part of it, but looks like he changed his mind. Look like JJ took a quick look at Lawrence Kasdan’s script and said, “I gotta do this!”.

My thoughts? It was too predictable to me that Lucasfilm/Disney was going to get JJ. I kind of called on it a long while back, and honestly, I’m kind of skeptical. Yes, he did a great job with the first “Star Trek” movie but, I still don’t like his style of film making. His overuse of the lens flare in movies does get pretty annoying, and so does his shaky cam technique. He is really good at action scenes, though, I’ll give him that respect

I just hope JJ doesn’t reboot Star Wars, and make the original characters young like he did with Star Trek. A young Han, Luke, and Leia? I don’t know, don’t make sense to me, since those characters were young in, “Episode IV: A New Hope”. Episode 7 will probably continue on from “Jedi”. I think Han, Luke, and Leia should still be played by the original actors. Harrison, Mark and Carrie. I can see JJ bringing them in somehow.

JJ has been getting some major franchises. First he got Mission Impossible, then Star Trek, and now Star Wars. I guess, JJ could possibly make a good Star Wars movie ’cause his Star Trek film did seem like Star Wars. I’ll give JJ a chance.

Now we wonder what’s going to happen to the Star Trek franchise, now that JJ is moving on to Star Wars, hmmmm….

Cool Video: “Star Trek Into Darkness” trailer is finally here! Looks great but…

… to be honest, I really miss the style of Star Trek movies from the original series and The Next Generation movies. I like Star Trek movies with great storytelling that are insightful, and the ones that don’t rely on action, and big special effects. “Star Trek Into Darkness”, honestly, looks like a complete rehash of the first one. The special effects and action looks impressive, but I don’t want to see Star Trek like that. The reason the original Trek movies and the TNG movies worked, ’cause they completely relied on science fiction. JJ Abrams take on Star Trek are more like Star Wars films to me.

I still wish the TNG cast would reunite and make one final TNG movie, but looks like that’s not going to happen any time soon. It would be nice to see if the Voyager cast would get their own movie ’cause Captain Janeway, just kicks ass as a captain. “Voyager” was a great series, and plan on re-watching it on Netflix at some point.

I’ll still see “Star Trek: Into Darkness” in theater, sure. It does look pretty good.

“Star Trek Into Darkness” teaser poster released…

705963_10151164885843716_970285203_o

To those who don’t know who that is, that is actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the main villain for the new Star Trek movie, “Star Trek: Into Darkness”, directed by JJ Abrams. A lot of speculation on which villain it is. Everyone’s saying it’s either Khan or Gary Mitchell.

I’m sure everyone knows who Khan is, but who is Gary Mitchell? Gary Mitchell is a villain from the original Star Trek series, and he would be seen in the episode, “Memory Alpha”. Gary Mitchell worked for Starfleet on the Enterprise with, Kirk and the gang. More info, on Gary Mitchell, here. I’m sure, some of you remember that episode now.

Or it could be a totally different villain. We’ll have to wait and see the film. Another film I look forward to next year. A lot of you know, I’m a pretty big Trekkie!

The first 9 minutes of JJ Abrams “Star Trek Into Darkness” will debut in Imax 3D – Dec. 14th…

If you have an IMAX movie theater nearby, you may get the chance to see the trailer of the next Star Trek movie directed by JJ Abrams, “Star Trek Into Darkness” in Imax 3D. They will also show the first 9 minutes of the film. If they are willing to show the first 9 minutes of the film, there’s gotta be something serious, they want to show off. Maybe this will be the confirmation, whether or not Khan will be the main villain? Anyhow, I’m sure somebody will bootleg the footage with an Iphone or something, so it’ll land on youtube the day after.

More on the story, here.

I’m a huge Star Trek fan, a Trekkie as some of you know. The Trek shows I mostly liked was the original, TNG, and Voyager. I didn’t really care for “Deep Space 9” or “Enterprise” but maybe I’ll re-watch them on Netflix soon. I want to re-watch all Star Trek series on Netflix soon anyway. I already re-watched the original Star Trek on there. I’ll start re-watching the Next Generation after I catch up with “Sons of Anarchy”.

Back to Star Trek, I wish they would reunite the Next Generation cast and do another film but I don’t see that happening anytime soon, sadly. The TNG cast deserve to go out with one last great film. Something better than, “Star Trek: Nemesis” which was alright but nothing special.

Film Review: “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol”

Starring: Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Josh Holloway

Directed by Brad Bird:

Well today, I decided to hit the mall to see “MI: Ghost Protocol”. Here is my review…

Plot/synopsis: In the 4th installment of the Mission Impossible series, Ethan Hunt and his team are racing against time to track down a dangerous terrorist named Hendricks, who has gained access to Russian nuclear launch codes and is planning a strike on the United States. An attempt by the team to stop him at the Kremlin ends in a disaster, with an explosion causing severe destruction to the Kremlin and the IMF being implicated in the bombing, forcing the President to invoke Ghost Protocol, under which the IMF is disavowed, and will be offered no help or backup in any form. Undaunted, Ethan and his team chase Hendricks to Dubai, and from there to Mumbai, but several spectacular action sequences later, they might still be too late to stop a disaster.

After seeing this new movie, makes me want to re-watch the first three films. I thought “Ghost Protocol”, was a whole lot of fun. It is definitely the best one of the series, and it’s very rare that the later sequels get better than the earlier movies.

I thought the plot was pretty interesting, the story maybe a little predictable, but it kept you watching ’til the very end. Most importantly of all, I was most impressed with the action scenes and the direction style of, Brad Bird. Brad Bird is one talented and unique director. He’s pretty stylish. Brad filmed most of this movie with real stunts, and they filmed on real film locations. Yes, they actually filmed at the Kremlin and that sky tower building in Dubai where Tom did that crazy high flying stunt.

I thought the cast did a decent job on the acting, and Tom was enjoyable, like usual. Josh Holloway who played Sawyer from the show “Lost”, had a real small role, it was pretty much a cameo, but he did real good though. Josh looked different with short hair and clean shaven. You’ll see Josh in the beginning of the film.

The movie was an action packed ride like I expected. Not bad for a PG-13 action movie. I thought Paula Patton who played the film’s female star, was a pretty hot woman. The action scenes were so fun, that it made you want to cheer for Tom, and the scenes did look pretty realistic with him doing his own stunts.

I thought the movie was awesome. Liked it a lot. It just gave me even more respect for Tom. I think there is going to be a 5th “MI”, movie ’cause the ending just left open for another one, of course. I’m all for another “MI”, movie. Definitely check this one out.

Score for “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)

Thought: Why Tom Cruise doing his own stunts in action movies…

So why has Tom Cruise decided to do his own stunts for action movies like “MI IV: Ghost Protocol” (which I plan to see tomorrow afternoon)? Well the man’s obviously got something to prove. Maybe he’s trying to get the public’s respect back after all the negative backlashes he got in the media a few years back. I’m sure that’s not the only reason, there’s more to it then that.

Maybe he just wants it to be realistic, and he just wants to prove he can do everything for real. He doesn’t want to be looked at as a fake actor. All the risky stunts he did for this movie is pretty ballsy, especially for a dude his age. Maybe he’s fed up with all the stunt doubles and want it done for real, ya know?

Plus, he wants to show the world that he can be somebody, not just some Scientoligist idiot, jumping on Oprah’s couch. What ever it is, he’s definitely got something to prove.

I’ve never been this excited for a Mission Impossible movie ’cause I never cared for the first three. I’m actually excited as hell for “Ghost Protocol”. Looks like a great action packed ride. Looks fun.

Like him or not, Tom is a talented actor, he can do just about anything and he can play any role that throws at him. He’s done everything from bad guy to action hero. I like a lot of Tom Cruise flicks. “Risky Business”, “Top Gun”, “Rain Man”, “Legend”,”Collateral”, “Minority Report”, “Eyes Wide Shut”, and “Valkyrie” are some of my favorite movies of his. I hated his last movie, “Knight & Day”, though, that wasn’t a good one.

I’m looking forward to “Ghost Protocol” tomorrow, and of course, I’ll review the film when I get back.

Report: Benicio Del Toro, won’t do Trek…guess he wanted to be payed more and they couldn’t afford it…

JJ Abrams squashed the news that Benicio Del Toro could be starring as the main villain for “Star Trek” sequel. Benicio dropped over money issues.

Look like Del Toro wanted an extremely high paycheck and the film crew couldn’t afford him. They also denied that he was going to be playing Khan.

Report: Original Robocop actor, Peter Weller, joins the cast of “Star Trek” sequel…

The casting for JJ Abrams, “Star Trek” sequel just got even more interesting! First Benicio Del Torro and actress, Alice Eve are both in talks of starring. Here’s the next surprising casting. I’m sure you’ve all seen the Paul Verhoeven epic sci-fi action flick, “Robocop”, starring Peter Weller. Well Peter just got casted for an un-named role in JJ’s “Star Trek” sequel. They don’t even say whether he’s playing a villain or a hero.

More on the story, here.

Nice! I loved the first, Robocop, movie. Just so you know, Peter has never retired from acting, he’s still working after all this time. He’s just been doing other movies and TV shows over the years. I remember seeing Peter in a role for “Dexter – Season 5”, he was a character named, Stan Liddy.

As for what character that Peter could be playing in “Star Trek”, my guess is that it could be, John Frederick Paxton, in which he played for in two episodes of the TV show, “Star Trek: Enterprise”.
