Report: Lars Ulrich is selling a Basquiat painting and it costs $12 million, you rich enough to afford it?

When Lars is not around music and not playing with Metallica, Lars’s 2nd passion in life is art and painting. He is a painter himself and he collects artwork by other artists as a hobby of his.

Lars is selling a painting by artist Jean-Michael Basquiat. Basquiat is a graffitti artist who died of a drug overdose in 1988 when he was 27. The name of the painting that Lars is selling is titled “Untitled (Boxer)” which the painting is a black heavyweight boxer with his arms in the air.

The Associated Press reports:

Why would Lars want to sell that for $12 million when I’m sure he made much more than that from the “Death Magnetic” record which made no. 1 on the Billboard for 3 weeks in a row?

I can see why Lars is always selling his own paintings and paintings by other artists because it is impossible to keep all paintings in a house.

Report: Hip hop hooorraayyy HOOoooo Heeeeyyy Hoooooo….Naughty By Nature confirms reunion….

Get ready to raise both of your arms to the sky and wave them back and forth as you sing along to “Hip Hop Hooray”. Yes, that’s right, the iconic rap group who made it big in the 80’s are set to making a return with it’s original members. The group plans to go back into the studio to record a new album titled “Anthem Inc.”. They have plans on being more “mature” in their music for their next album since they are not kids anymore. They want their new music to be different than their earlier days.

Billboard reports:

I’ll admit I used to like this rap group when I was young. If anybody still cares abou them, it would surprise me.

I’m not afraid to say that I have seen them live in concert once long ago. I don’t like them anymore like I once did though.

Confirmed: Guns N’ Roses “Chinese Democracy” to be released Nov. 23rd…

Turns out that the long rumoured release date for Gn’R “Chinese Democracy” for Nov. 23rd is true!

Billboard reports:

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003872663

Like I said once before, I’m not believe this if this is actually on the shelves Nov. 23rd. If Axl pushes the release date back again for the 100th time, I give up on Guns N’ Roses.

On Nov. 23rd I will go to Best Buy to see if the album is on the shelves for myself. If it is, I’ll definitely pick it up.

Lets hope 14 years is worth the wait.

Report: Who should sing for the members of Led Zep?

With Robert Plant made it official that he is not rejoining Led Zeppelin for good, this still not stopping Pagey, Jonesy and Jason for making music. The three left over members have been making new music in the studio and have been planning a future tour with a different singer.

Rumours are swirling the net that Myles Kennedy, the lead singer from the band Altered Bridge maybe fronting the members of Led Zep. But when the members of Led Zep find a new singer, they will of course have to change the band name. They can’t be Led Zeppelin still without Robert Plant right?

I strongly disagree with that choice, I’ve heard Altered Bridge before and they are terrible. They sound like Creed almost since Mark Tremonti plays for Altered Bridge now. I also disagree with the other choices in that article above.

Who do I think should join the members of Led Zep for tour and album, I’ll name just a few choices:

James Labrie of Dream Theater

Chris Cornell

Eddie Vedder

The Listening Room: Hear the new “Weird Al” parody “Whatever You Like” now…

“Weird Al” released his new single for Itunes and it’s been leaked in youtube of course. This is the official single of “Weird Al’s parody of the T.I. song “Whatever You Like”. The song is very topical, about the way the current economics is going right now.

I actually dig it. Great job Al. I don’t like the original T.I. song of this parody but the way “Weird Al” does it is better.

Enjoy. 🙂

Report: First Jackson Browne, then Van Halen, and now Dave Grohl is attacking McCain for using music without permission…

You know, while I do like John McCain a lot, I disagree with his actions for the music business though. I agree that McCain does need to start asking permission for using Bands/Artists songs at his campaigns.

The Foo Fighters are not suing John McCain, they just simply released a statement asking him to not use the band’s songs without permission. A warning type of thing.

Billboard reports:

I’m glad the Foo’s didn’t go as far as suing like Jackson Browne did. Just shows that Dave knows how to say things in a polite way without putting people down.

Why don’t musicians ever attack Obama for using band’s songs? Well for one, I’m sure Obama asks the band’s permission first. That’s why no band or music artists attacked Obama yet.

If you’re a band and a musician if you own your music, you have the right to use your music however you please. It’s all up to the artist if they want to sue or not. If they own the copyright, they have the right to do what they want. Remember, the copyright and know how copyright works.

Report: Eddie Van Halen marrying his publicist…

The guitar GOD Eddie Van Halen is getting married again, sorry I lost count. Eddie is now engaged to his publicist Janie Liszewski as he popped the question while they were vacationing in Hawaii. He proposed to her in a private room at Tiffany’s. They plan to marry next June.

More on it here:

Good for them. Lets hope Janie can deal with Eddie’s guitar obsession.
