Where did Sly get the Barney Ross name from in “The Expendables”…how did he inspire the story???

Barney Ross is a name of a character that Sylvester Stallone is playing in, “The Expendables”. The name is taken from a real life legendary fighter, Barney Ross himself.

Is this how Sly came up with the plot for “The Expendables” from Barney Ross’s real life story with his father and World War II stuff?

Sly took the title from one of the Rambo movies, where he said, “Im Expendable”.

It’s kind of strange how Sly is doing a movie taken from that Rambo scene and he’s playing a character name that’s inspired from the real life boxer.

Barney Ross was a World War II veteran and Rambo was a Vietnam vet who claimed that he was Expendable.

Is this the point of Sly’s new movie, “The Expendables” as his way of proving that Rambo is “Expendable” even though that this movie has nothing to do with Rambo?

Whether this movie is R rated or PG-13, I don’t care. I just want to see a good action movie with a good plot. I’m sure there is a lot more to the plot where the Expendables take down a dictator, Sly just doesn’t want to give out any surprising spoilers…maybe this movie does have something to do with Rambo after all…maybe there’ll be a mention of the Rambo character in the film. Who knows.

HHHHHhhhmmmmmmmm…. could “The Expendables” actually be Rambo 5?

So let me get this straight. Sly Stallone announced his next movie titled “The Expendables” which will be a PG-13 rated action flick. Sly is not going for the bloodfest this time around. He already signed Jason Statham and Jet Li for leading roles, and now Sly is after Forest Whitaker.

The plot for “Expendables” is a group of mercernaries to overthrow a Latin American dictator. That’s all the plot details were given so far. Stallone himself said he is playing the leading role and directing both but he was pretty tight lipped on what role Stallone was going to play.

Does that word “Expendable” sound familiar to you, folks?

Go back and watch the movie “Rambo: First Blood Part II” and there’s a line in the film where Rambo says, “I’m expendable”. Which is one of the most well known catchphrases of a Rambo film.

Yep, there you have it, everyone. “Expendables” is Rambo 5. Notice the plot synopsis to “Expendables” is very Rambo like too. Nice try on trying to surprise us Sly but if you know the Rambo movies well enough, then you wouldn’t find this a surprise. Sly didn’t say anything about who he is playing in “Expendables” yet ’cause he doesn’t want to reveal that he is playing Rambo once again this soon. Just watch as this project develops and you’ll see that I’m right. 🙂

Confirmed: Rambo extended cut DVD/Blu Ray in the works…

Do you think Sylvester Stallone’s latest flick “Rambo” was too short and you want the film to be even longer? Well you’re in for a surprise! The Digital Bits today confirmed that Sly and DVD producer Cliff Stephenson is in the works of a longer version of 2008’s “Rambo”.

Quote from article:

From our panel at Comic-Con, DVD producer Cliff Stephenson told the audience that he’ll be working on an extended cut of Sylvester Stallone’s “Rambo” for DVD and Blu-ray release sometime in 2009.

Great news! I know Sly filmed a lot more than 90 minutes of the movie! So happy he’s doing a longer version!

This means we’ll get to see a longer version of the final battle scene at the end of the film where Rambo goes nuts!

I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!

Report: “Rambo” wins award for “Most Original Poster” from the Golden Trailer Awards…

The new “Rambo” film just won an award for “Most Original Poster” awards from the 9th Annual Golden Trailer Awards. An awards show that give out awards for movie trailers and movie posters. Not the movie itself.

“Rambo” won the poster for it’s creative stencil art.

See the awards winners here:

The new “Rambo” poster is one of the most creative movie posters I’ve ever seen. Seriously. It’s just a simple drawing not some high tech photoshop work like most movie posters are these days.

REMINDER: Rambo DVD/Blu Ray out now!

The new Rambo has invaded DVD and Blu Ray today. You can now officially purchase all 4 Rambo films on Blu Ray and on DVD both.

I won’t need to buy the first three Rambo films since I already have the first three, I’ll be buying the new Rambo movie most definitely, I’m picking it up this week, probably Friday on my day off of work.

I’m still trying to decide whether I should get it on Blu Ray or regular DVD. I’ll probably get the Blu Ray.

Cool Video: Final action scene in “Rambo”…

Geez, scenes from the new “Rambo” movie are already getting leaked to youtube even before the DVD comes out on May 27th.

This scene is the actual final action sequence from the new “Rambo” 2008 film. This is the scene where Rambo finally comes back at the Burmese army with a vengeance. Enjoy this edge of your seat scene.

In my opinion, this is the greatest action movie sequence ever made in any action movie ever.

This scene may have some major SPOILERS, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, DO NOT click and watch, just wait for the DVD to come out to experience the fun.

Enjoy.

For one time and for one day only, you’ll soon get to experience the first Rambo film “Rambo: First Blood” back on the big screen. The film will hit selected theaters on May 15th @ 7:30 p.m. What’s even better, that the film will show the alternate ending where Rambo dies. After the film is over they will show a never before seen interview with Sylvester Stallone where he discusses “First Blood”, the new “Rambo” 2008 film, and the rest of the Rambo films. This event is hosted by Fathom company.

Not sure if this will hit the Capital District or not but if it does I will post it.

Report: Spike TV nail down Rambo franchise…

Spike TV has worked a deal with Lionsgate studios and bought the new “Rambo” film to air on the TV channel in the future. Spike bought the new “Rambo” for $4.5 million. Spike also picked up the first three “Rambo” films from CBS TV Distribution. My guess is that Spike TV wants to have a Rambo marathon, to air all 4 “Rambo’s” in a row in one day.

Variety Reports:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117984332.html?categoryid=14&cs=1

Since I already own the first 3 Rambo’s on DVD and I’ll soon own the new Rambo when it comes out for BluRay May 27th, I won’t need to watch this on cable TV.

But it’s no surprise to me that Spike TV will want to air the new Rambo since that TV channel loves to hype that film to death before it was out in theater.

NEW: Rambo (2008) 2 Disc Special Edition/BluRay – May 27th…

The new Rambo (2008) DVD/Blue Ray cover is released, and there it is above. How cool is that? Isn’t that a sweet cover! I think it’s badass! Rambo will be getting a DVD and BluRay release on exactly May 27th. So mark your calendars and pick up a copy that day!

The DVD extras will feature audio commentary with Sylvester Stallone, deleted scenes, six behind the scenes featurettes, and a digital copy for the film for your Itunes and Windows Media players.

The BluRay version will include the same extras, but it will also have a gallery of trailers from the 3 previous Rambo films, and a bonus view audio picture-in picture commentary with Sly Stallone.

For those who don’t want the 2 disc SE or the BluRay, there is also a single disc edition with no extras, just the movie itself.

More info here:

I’m definitely buying the BluRay baby!

I’m really curious to see what the picture is going to be like in the Blu Ray edition.

I hope Sly does an “Extended” version of Rambo on DVD down the road to make the movie longer. I know he shot a lot more than 90 minutes of the film.
