5 of Sly’s best action films outside of “Rambo” and “The Expendables”…

I would like to see Sly’s new movie, “Bullet To the Head”, but the mall that is closer to me is not playing it at their theater. “Bullet to the Head” is only playing at selected theaters , so I won’t be able to see it. I’ll wait for DVD rental, ’cause the film is not getting good reviews, anyway.

Sly has had other good action movies that has nothing to do with “Rambo” and “The Expendables”.

Here are 5 of Sly’s best action films:

  1. “Cliffhanger” – This is probably the best one. It’s a fun action flick and actually had a decent story too! Plus, John Lithgow made a badass villain in it.
  2. “Cobra” – This could have been Sly’s other big franchise if this movie had a better script. Cobra was a cool character. It’s too bad this film didn’t have more sequels when it should.
  3. “Tango and Cash” – Teaming Kurt and Sly together was probably the best thing to happen in the action genre. I just wish they would re-team these two again, whether for “Tango and Cash 2”, or an Expendables movie.
  4. “Get Carter” – It didn’t do very well in the box office and didn’t get great reviews, the film could have a better script, but Jack Carter was one of Sly’s best characters. The fight scene between him and Mickey Rourke was the best part of the film.
  5. “Over the Top” – Another one of his underrated films that didn’t do well, but still a kick ass film. Old school action 80’s.

Don’t just look at Sly because of his success with “Rambo” and “The Expendables”. If you watch all of his action movies from the past, you would understand why he’s such an action movie legend today. He didn’t get to where he is for nothing. His legacy really means something.

Valentine’s Day Rant… do women know what true love is? I believe they do not…

A lot of people mistakenly believe that a man staying single for most of his life is sad, pathetic and wrong. They usually get picked on and laughed at by other people since they made a choice. You see it isn’t pathetic and wrong for a man living the single life. It’s actually a very good thing to do really. There are too many people out there who can’t live their life without sex but there are some that can survive without it. There is more to life than just sex and romance, all that stuff. You can actually be happy and find life very enjoyable being a loner, trust me on that. It’s your choice of how you want to live your life. You can settle in and get into a relationship at a late age. I think it’s actually better to settle in at a late age instead of rushing things at a young age. There are too many young people, in this day and age, getting into relationships, rushing to get married and stuff. I look at all this going on, and I’m like really? Why are there too many young people rushing into things? I sort of, blame that on TV and celebrity gossip that people obsess over and they follow along with it. That’s how mainstream media controls people.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve actually tried the relationship thing several times before in my life, but they never worked out. I have been friends with women before and they were just that, just friends. Nothing more.

I think it’s time for me to get a nice woman, sometime, hopefully in the near future. I think I’m ready for it now, before I get any older ’cause I’m gonna be 40 soon. The only thing though, is that’s it’s so tough to get somebody, these days. A lot of women out there seems to be pretty self centered people. All they seem to care about is the money, really. I mean, look who all the women are getting married to lately. Yes, that’s right. They seem to be marrying wealthy guys. Why? It’s so that women can live in a good home and expensive cars, so they can raise a family and have a good life. Divorces are on the rise too, and who are filing the divorce papers mostly? Yes that’s right, it’s the women, so they can get after the money. It’s a harsh reality that all women care about is a guy’s wealth, but it is what it is. Some couples are only together ’cause of the children only.

This is why this relationship and marriage stuff is pretty scary. Women would also only date guys for the good looks and for sex also.

I know not all women are shallow people, there will be one out there who will love you for you and actually care about you, she’s just hard to find. I guess the trick is, that you just need to stop looking if you don’t want to keep getting hurt. You will find the love of your life at some point, it’ll happen when it happens.

I don’t need people helping me to get a woman, this is something I need to do on my own, but I’ve had other people give me tips and advice. I’ve been told to respect her. Give her nice compliments and make her, smile, and happy a lot. Have fun conversations with her and be confident. Start off slow and build your way up. See how things go from there.

I’m looking for true love. A lot of you would never be able to see it but yes, I am capable enough of treating a woman like a queen and can make her a happy person. I can do it, I just need to find the right one. I guess I need to weed out all the bad ones until I find the one who actually cares. That’s the trick I guess.

I usually try not to talk about this relationship stuff on my blog but since Valentine’s Day is coming up around the corner, I figure I would do this and get it out of the way. So enjoy.

Why I have been silent more and more on this blog…

…simply put, I’m starting to get bored. I only post on this blog when I have something worthy to say or something to get off my chest. When I don’t feel like writing anything on here, it means I can’t think of anything to write. I even get writers block for this blog at times!

On top of that, I’ve been finding better things to do like playing my guitar, and other hobbies that I love to do like video gaming or reading or whatever.

I gotta couple of things to get off my chest later tonight, but for now, I’m going to play “Skyrim” for a little while, check out “House of Cards” on Netflix a little later.

I’ll be back on here late tonight.

Dead Space 3

So, “Dead Space 3”, comes out this coming Tuesday. I really want to get this game, but I need to play the 2nd one, which I haven’t yet. I played the first Dead Space game, and it was really amazing. Probably one of the best games ever made, in my opinion. Maybe they get better as they go along. I just bought “Dead Space 2” for $20 today, so I can catch up with the series. The Dead Space games are really great. The best survival game out there. It’s a mix of horror, science fiction and action. The story of Isaac Clarke is phenomenal stuff. Looking forward to playing, “Dead Space 2”, hopefully this weekend.

I haven’t been video gaming much at all lately. It’s time to get back into it, I think. Video gaming is one of my favorite hobbies other than music, movies, and reading.

Not a cool video: I say that Beyonce is still lip synching!!!

How is this proving the haters wrong? They didn’t give us any proof whether or not there was any backing tapes, backstage at this event. I also don’t trust that wireless microphone when there is already a microphone, right there at that glass podium. Even though this could be “live” singing, you gotta love what the power of vocal effects (reverb/echo/etc.) can do to your voice. Auto-tune, anyone?

You also gotta love all of her silly excuses when not singing it live. Not having the time to rehearse, the cold weather, blah blah blah.

If you really had the talent, any singer could get up there and wing it out, regardless of the weather or whatever lame excuses you can make for not singing it live.

What a nice attempt to get respect back, though.

All about glam metal (or sleaze rock)…

I’ve been curious about the glam metal scene or what they call sleaze rock for a long time. So after doing a little research of what it’s all about, and understanding the glam metal people, I am beginning to coming to understanding of it all. The term glam metal started in the late 70’s and 80’s with the likes of Alice Cooper, Kiss, Poison, Motley Crue, and bands such as those. The glam metal genre declined in the 90’s, when grunge took over the music industry. The glam metal genre later revived in the late 90’s with bands such as Vains of Jenna, Buckcherry, and many more to list.

There are tons of local glam metal bands in the Albany area and I know that Knottingham in the U.K. has a huge glam metal scene there too. Glam metal is a type of genre that is metal mixed in with other genres such as punk, blues, rock, etc.

After all these years, I’ve been trying to figure out why these guys can be so crazy. Now I understand why. To be “glam metal” or sleazerock, you must be crazy as hell. You must have that attitude. You must be the huge egomaniac. That’s how these musicians always are. For years, they have a hard time being accepted by the public ’cause of their image and their music. In other words, they are not for everyone.

I used to dislike these glam metal people but if you don’t take how they act personally, you would see they are not that bad. They are hard partiers and crazy as fuck, but like I said before, if you want to be part of the glam metal genre, you have to look the part and have the attitude. You have to have the full package.

These local glam metal bands whether from the Albany area and from the UK, they are just trying to keep the genre alive.

The only glam rock band that I respect the most, is the Teenage Casket Company, look ’em up. They’re good dudes, great songwriters, and they put themselves out there in a positive way. I still respect the TCC to this day, and still follow everything they do. They have always been a great band.

Thought: Do you want to be a party band or an artist???

While I am proud and happy that original music has finally taken over the music scene, my only complaint is that there are a lot of original bands that are so obsessed with being a party band. Sure, you can only be a party band when you’re a cover band, but you can still be a party band with original music. Allow me to clarify. When an original band wants to be a party band, they want all of their music to be upbeat and tight, so their fans can dance to their songs at all of their shows. Nothing wrong with putting on a tight and upbeat show playing fast songs, all night. I know that stuff can pull people into shows, but one thing to keep in mind folks, that original music don’t always have to be a “party” kind of show.

I mean, what the hell happened to art of writing music?

If I ever get myself a band going one of these days, I’m going to completely focus on the art. Yes, I will write fast, tight and upbeat songs for fans to dance to at the shows, but I’m not gonna obsess with it too much. I don’t care how the tempo of a song is, whether the song will be slow, moderately fast, or upbeat. They are going to get played at the shows. Just make music from the heart. Songs don’t always have to be dancy.

I love those type of bands that concentrate on the art with music. The bands that don’t care to play “hit singles” or don’t care to get the audience dancing. The fans will stick around and listen to you, no matter the tempo of the song. I understand bands want to put on an exciting and fun show, but don’t always be, “the entertainer”. You want to be, “the artist”.

My original music has always been about the art. I never cared to write radio friendly songs or write songs that people can sing along to, I just wanted to write, and I will continue to have this method of songwriting. That’s how Neil Young and David Bowie has always been.

I’ve been silent a lot more often in this blog ’cause I’ve been practicing guitar a lot more. I’m really am desperate in trying to get better. Like I said, I’ll start writing songs when I’m ready. I’m mostly focused on trying to get better at lead guitar currently, ’cause I want to be able to play my own guitar solos over my songs and be good at it.

Kev

Do they really support you or do they follow you ’cause you’re easy to be made fun of? I’d say who the hell cares!!!

I’ve been told by people for years now, that the only reason some follow my blogs or my music is ’cause they find me entertaining and funny to follow. Not because they find the stuff I do enjoyable, people follow me as a way to “make fun” of me. A lot of folks appear to follow me for laughs. They would read my blogs daily, keep hitting refresh all day, waiting for the next post to come up  (don’t lie, I know you all do this), waiting for me to say something stupid so they can make fun of it, all over the internet.

You know, this is all fine and good. I know my web presence can easily be made fun of, I don’t give a fuck. When you bash or make fun of me, that means you’re making fun of me as a person.

One thing you should think about though is, no matter the reaction of your web presence, whether people really support you or not, it means that you are successful at what you do. Whether you get a positive or negative reaction toward your web presence or your music, you are popular ’cause people responded to you. The trolls/haters don’t want to admit that they actually enjoy the stuff that you do, they follow you still ’cause you are addicting to them. As long as people are paying attention to you, positive or negative, you should be proud of that.

You would know that you’re not successful, when people don’t pay attention to you at all.

With that being said, I don’t really get upset at the mixed reactions, ’cause I’ve been saying for years now, I’ve been proud of it. People tell me stuff like, “Everyone only follows you to make fun of you”, as a way to put me down and upset me, when in reality, I’m not. I actually get kind of flattered when people tell me that stuff.

Treat me how you want to treat me. I don’t have any control of how people feel about me, free country, so people feel how they want to. I know I can’t please everyone and I know everything is not gonna be positive, even though I would like everything to be. There’s nothing I can do about it. I’ve been made fun of and bullied by people throughout my entire life anyway, not just the internet. I know people make fun of me ’cause of my appearance, my personal problems, my looks, the way I speak, my writing style, my learning skill, disability, etc. My question is, what makes everyone else any better? Everyone has their own share of insecurities and problems, so what makes people think they’re better than me? I am, who I am. Just being myself. What you see, is what you get. I’m no different than everyone else. I’m not perfect and neither are you.

In my real life off the computer, I just want to be happy and enjoy life, the best I can. Yes, my life needs a lot of improvement and it maybe tough now, but I still find ways to keep me strong and happy. Like working out, playing my guitar, watching movies, reading books, etc. Those are things I do to keep me strong.

Back to the topic, as long as people are paying attention that’s all I care about. You just keep giving me more attention and more success. I like to speak my mind on the internet ’cause it’s a good way to get things off your chest and get things out of your system.

Kev

Edit to add:  I forgot to add something else, when people tell me these things, it does nothing but prove my point that people can be crazy and whacked. I may seem like a good guy but don’t let the nice guy fool ‘ya. Honestly, I can’t stand people in general and I’m sure you can’t blame me.

Sylvester Stallone… could “Bullet to the Head” be a big hit???

So Sly’s new action movie, “Bullet to the Head” directed by Walter Hill, comes out this Friday, and yes, I will probably end up going to check it out. Only thing though, this is the first Sly action film that has nothing to do with Rambo or the Expendables, in a long long while. Before Sly brought Rocky, Rambo back to the big screen, he was in a big career slump. Then after the success of Rocky and Rambo, he brought us the Expendables with two movies.

Could Sly still be the box office king with “Bullet to the Head”? Not so sure about that one, honestly. This film could be a potential bomb. Not saying it will suck, it’s probably gonna be a badass action flick, but I don’t think Sly will be the box office king outside of Rambo & The Expendables. Who knows, though. Maybe, “Bullet” will do good in box office.

Sly has another movie coming out later this year called, “The Tomb”, in which he stars with Arnold.

A lot of people want to mistakenly think that Sly doesn’t care to be a successful actor, but of course, he does. The man works real hard, and he does take his work seriously. When an actor does a movie, you can never tell whether it will be a hit or a bomb. I’ll admit that Sly has made many bad flicks like, “Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot”, “Rhinestone”, “Judge Dredd”, “The Specialist”, “Driven”, etc., but that’s not his fault. The man even admits that he doesn’t like some of the movies he’s starred in as well.

Sly is still my favorite actor. I just think the man is a badass. He looks cool and I enjoy his acting style. The man is an inspiration to me, and I still hope to one day, meet him in person.
