I haven’t been watching the Oscars for the past several years or more ’cause of politics of course… plus the Oscar shows keep getting worse and worse every year. I can’t help but admit that the nominations this year are quite impressive. Nominations going to the right people this time.
As for the “Best Picture” categories…. I’ve only seen “Black Panther”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Green Book”, “Roma” and “A Star Is Born”. I haven’t seen “Black Klansman”, “The Favourite” and “Vice” yet. I’ve seen pretty much most of the “Best Picture” nominations; however, I only liked “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Green Book” and “A Star is Born”. I didn’t like “Roma” and “Black Panther” too much.
I’m gonna have to watch the Oscars this year ’cause I’m curious on what would win Best Picture. The Best Picture win will probably go to either “Green Book”, “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “A Star Is Born”. If it goes to “Black Panther” and it wouldn’t surprise me that it would end up getting the win then that would piss me off so much. Simply because “Black Panther” doesn’t deserve to get treated like it’s the best movie ever made ’cause it wasn’t all that great at all. Now that “Black Panther” is streamable on Netflix, maybe I’ll give it another viewing but I’m sure my opinion on that movie will stay the same.
I do hope Bradley Cooper or Viggo Mortesen will win for “Best Actor in a leading role” but that award will probably go to Remi Malek which I will be happy with that ’cause Remi was really good in “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
I really hope Lady Gaga will win for Best Actress for “A Star Is Born” ’cause she was really in that movie but I have a feeling that the lady who plays Roma will end up winning that one instead.
As for “Actor in a Supporting Role”, I’m happy that Sam Elliot got nominated for an Oscar for the first time in his career. That dude has been acting in film for decades and he never got Oscar nominated once until now. Him getting an Oscar nomination was long overdue. I don’t think he’ll win that award but it’s awesome he got nominated. His role in “A Star Is Born” was really good so the nomination was worthy. I predict Mahershala Ali from the “Green Book” movie will get the win for this one.
I’m gonna have to watch the Oscars this year. Yeah, I know the show will continue with its liberal political bullshit and their Donald Trump bashing, but I don’t care about that. I want to find out how many awards “Green Book”, “A Star Is Born” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” is gonna win this year ’cause I love those three movies. They were the best films of 2018 for sure.
The Oscars did surprisingly good with the nominations this year.
So Sony just hired Jason Reitman to be the director of “Ghostbusters 3” which is still in the works. Jason Reitman was the director of movies such as “Juno” and “Up In the Air”. He’s also the son of Ivan Reitman who directed the first two “Ghostbusters”.
Dan Aykroyd has been desperately trying to get GIII made for a long time now ever since the second one. Dan’s original plan for Ghostbusters was the passing of a “torch” kind of movie, the original Ghostbusters passing the torch to young ones. Dan’s been trying to push GIII to get made ever since the 2nd but there has been some setbacks ever since. The biggest setback the film suffered was that Harold Ramis passed away and then Ivan Reitman stepped down from directing GIII ’cause of it. Then Paul Feig’s all-female “Ghostbusters” reboot happened which was a box office failure.
It seems that Sony is moving forward with GIII still… a third film from the first two original movies.
Will the surviving members of Ghostbusters reprise their roles for the third one? Ya know… will Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray return? We’ll have to wait and see. I think there’s a big chance those guys will be coming back.
A lot of people want to be quick to hate on this since Paul Feig’s “Ghostbusters” all-female thing was a flop but don’t be so quick to judge.
I think Jason Reitman could do Ghostbusters justice and give the fans exactly what they want. I’m sure Jason will be getting plenty of help from his father Ivan anyways even though Ivan won’t be directing. I think this one could be better than the all-female reboot.
I’m gonna give Jason’s take on “Ghostbusters” a chance. I think he could do a way better job than Paul Feig. I haven’t seen the all-female reboot and don’t think I’ll see that one at all. I just hope Jason makes the next movie more like the first one. Hopefully the original cast comes back: Ernie, Dan, Bill, Rick Moranis, Sigourney, etc. Jason said that this is a continuation of the original series so there is a great chance that everyone might be coming back. It would be nice if Louis Tully returned though ’cause that was a great character.
Finally, here are my choices for top 10 Best Movies of 2018. Every year I would do a Top 15 but I think it’ll be a top 10 from now on.
Here is what makes the list… I’ll name 10 titles, explain why and will post the trailer for each film…
Enjoy!
10. Sicario 2: Day of the Soldado
(I really liked the first Sicario movie a lot and was actually excited when the second was gonna be in the works. Now the movie is here, I thought the 2nd one was way better than the first. It’s very rare when a sequel is better than the first one. The second Sicario “Day of the Soldado” was more darker and more violent than the first. Plus, the performances of Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin were pretty great. I was most impressed with Benicio Del Toro though as that guy is a badass in these movies. This is Del Toro’s best role and I’m already looking forward to Sicario 3.)
9. Hereditary
(Probably one of the best new horror films I’ve seen in a long time. It was actually pretty scary and it’s the way today’s film should be made. The story to this movie had some unpredictability and some interesting twists and turns. This movie will keep you glued to the screen for sure. It’s a short film but still very very good. I need to add this one to my BluRay collection at some point.)
8. Mission Impossible: Fallout
(I’ve been a huge M:I fan ever since the first one and I still enjoy every M:I film but M:I “Fallout” is definitely the best one so far. They keep getting better with the action scenes and the writing keeps getting better too. I love the M:I series and I think they’re fun movies. Once again, I respect Tom Cruise for doing his own stunts in these movies and that’s one of the reasons why I keep watching ’em.)
7. Annihilation
(Probably one of the best sci-fi and horror films I’ve seen in a long time. Writing was interesting and different. Natalie Portman gave a great performance as well. This is an Alex Garland directed film so it’s no surprise that this would be a good one. That’s the same guy that directed “Ex Machina”. I gotta add this one to my BluRay collection at some point.)
6. A Star Is Born
(Some would call me crazy for wanting to see this one but I actually went and saw this one in the theater and loved it. I’m not into romantic movies that much but this movie had an interesting script. Plus, you can’t help but love Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in this film as they both delivered great performances. The music was really good in it too.)
5. Avengers: Infinity War
(Definitely one of the best superhero films of the year. I was so impressed with this movie that it had to be in the top 5. The Avengers movies seems to be getting better every film. My only disappointment was that I wish that Loki could have been in it longer but other than that, this was an amazing film. Definitely one of those films you can watch repeatedly. Can’t wait for Avengers 4!)
4. Bohemian Rhapsody
(I’ve been interested in this film ever since Queen and the film industry were talking about doing a biopic about Freddie Mercury. Now that the film is here, I was blown away. They did a great job with this film. I was interested in this film ’cause I’m a huge Queen fan. It was beautifully filmed, the direction was great and the whole cast did a great job at the acting. Definitely one of the best music biopics out there.)
3. Aquaman
(Another superhero film that I thought was the best ever of this year. Usually I hate movies full of CGI but this movie blew me away. It was actually a very impressive film. I wasn’t bored one bit throughout this movie. James Wan did a great job directing his first superhero film. This film had to be high on the list and I’m definitely getting the BluRay when it comes out.)
2. Creed II
(Yep, “Creed II” definitely had to be pretty high on the list. Definitely the best Rocky film since the first one for sure and this film was a much improvement than the first Creed movie. I’m usually not a fan of Michael B. Jordan as an actor but he was actually enjoyable this time. His acting is improving, I think. Sylvester Stallone kills it like he always does. It’s a wonderful movie. Can’t wait for the BluRay.)
1. Green Book
(“Green Book” would be my favorite movie of the year ’cause they don’t make serious movies like that anymore. I really was impressed with the movie. It was enjoyable and a heartfelt movie and powerful. Great performances by everyone in it and I think it’s gonna get some Oscar nominations. This movie made me a fan of Mahershala Ali and I think I want to start watching HBO’s “True Detective” pretty soon ’cause of him.)
Well, here it is. These 10 albums are my choices for what I think is the best of 2018. I didn’t buy much new music in the year 2018 ’cause I don’t keep up with the music industry that much. Toward the end of the year though, I finally got around to buying more new music ’cause there were some albums that I wanted to hear.
Here’s what I could find that I thought were the best. I’ll name only 10. I’ll explain why I like the album so much and I’ll post a song from each album too… enjoy the list, y’all…
10. La Luz – Floating Features
(This is an all girl group who writes their own songs and plays their own instruments. The genre they play is rock music but it sounds more like surf rock music to me. The type of music that you would hear while near a beach and walking down a boardwalk. This is surf rock music that you would hear in the 60’s and the kind of songs you would hear in a Quentin Tarantino movie. These ladies play great and they play tight as hell too. Lots of killer guitar playing all over this record too. Shana Cleveland is a killer singer and guitarist. She can play both rhythm and lead quite well. I listened to this album like three or four times. This album had to be on here.)
9. Stone Temple Pilots (self titled 2018 album)
(At first I was skeptical of STP moving on without Scott Weiland but then I thought, fuck it… I’ll just accept it and try to check them out with their new singer. I was actually blown away. Their new singer, Jeff Gutt is actually a great rock vocalist. This is actually a great album and I couldn’t stop listening to this one. To those that turned away from STP ’cause they moved on without, Scott, give this album a chance like I did. It’s a pretty great album and the guys in STP still got it. Don’t be quick to hate. Just listen to them and the new STP era will grow on you.)
8. Nita Strauss – Controlled Chaos
(So Nita Strauss the iconic shred guitarist has been in the music industry for a while now but she hasn’t released her own album until now. She hasn’t really released anything before this ’cause from what I understand, she was just a session musician and now she’s a full time solo artist. This album is pretty killer and I was blown away. Nita rocks on the guitar. She can shred, she can play heavy rhythm… she can do all the stuff on guitar that men can do.)
7. Joe Bonamassa – Redemption
(Joe Bonamassa is one of my favorite electric guitarists and blues musicians. The last few Bonamassa albums were pretty good but I think this one was his best record in a very long time. You want to hear tight blues rock, you’ll get exactly that on this album. Joe was on fire on this album throughout. He’s getting better vocally too. If you want to hear Joe shredding on guitar, you’ll get that all throughout this record. This album will get you headbanging throughout the whole thing. I couldn’t stop listening to this one so it had to be included.)
6. Clutch – Book of Bad Decisions
(I’ve never really listened to Clutch before until now and after hearing this album makes me want to listen to a lot more of them. I can see why rock and metal fans love this band so much ’cause they are addicting to listen to. This band is pretty tight and they play with lots of energy. Neal Fallon is definitely one of the best rock vocalists out there. A badass album and I’m gonna be listening to it a lot, I think.)
5. Slash & Myles Kennedy – Living the Dream
(I’ve been following Slash’s solo career for a long while and heard everything Slash and Myles Kennedy has done together. The new album they just put out “Living the Dream” with the Conspirators was the best they’ve done. Pretty amazing guitar tones and sick playing by Slash like usual. Myles singing will give you goosebumps too. I think Myles is one of the best singers in rock n’ roll and he is underrated too.)
4. Greta Van Fleet – Anthem of the Peaceful Army
(So Greta Van Fleet finally releases their debut studio album. This band sparked so much buzz in the industry lately and I finally decided to check them out when they released “From The Fires”. I’ve been a fan of Greta Van Fleet ever since. When they released this album, they still impress me. They didn’t disappoint once again. “Anthem of the Peaceful Army” is a pretty solid album. Yeah, many love to accuse them of being Led Zeppelin copycats… maybe they do sound like Led Zep a little bit but if you listen to this album, you’ll hear so many other influences going on. All 4 musicians play killer and Josh’s singing is just out of this world.)
3. Ghost – Prequelle
(I’ve been a fan of Ghost for a long while and finally got their album “Prequelle” earlier this year and I couldn’t stop listening to it ever since. It’s a beautiful album. Every song is so great on it. This is one of those albums you can listen to over and over and never get tired of it. Tobias Forge really is a great singer and songwriter. What I love about this band is that they make every song they write stay in your head and it stays there forever. That’s what great songwriting is to me. This band knows how to sound musical and they do a good job of it. I love this album dearly so this had to be high on the list.)
2. Judas Priest – Firepower
(I never was a big Judas Priest fan over the years of my life and I never bought their records until now. I bought two of their albums, “British Steele” and their new record “Firepower”. Throughout the metal community, they’ve been saying how amazing their new album “Firepower” really is so I finally got it for myself and they were right. It’s a pretty sick album all the way through. Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner are both pretty sick guitarists. Lots of great riffs and tasty guitar solos all over this record. Plus, Rob Halford’s vocals are incredible. Makes me want to listen to a lot more Judas Priest ’cause they are a great band. I’d like to collect their whole discography.)
1. Alice In Chains – Rainier Fog
(The new Alice In Chains record “Rainier Fog” is pretty amazing shit. I’ve been listening to it all week repeatedly so it had to be my number 1 choice. At first, I was a little skeptical of the William Duval era of Alice In Chains but they are making some pretty sick music. “Black Gives Way to Blue”, “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here” and now “Rainier Fog” are all pretty great albums but “Rainier Fog” was the best record they have done. Jerry Cantrell is killing it.)
There you have it, y’all. I post the Top 10 Best Movies of 2018 pretty soon.
I’m a huge fan of the “Mission Impossible” movies and I hope they keep making them until Tom Cruise decides he can no longer do them. I’ve been watching the M:I movies since the first one and love them all. I’ve seen “Mission Impossible: Fallout” on BluRay and so far I think “M:I Fallout” is the best one.
Of course, the ending of “M:I Fallout” left open for more films and two more M:I movies just got the green light. M:I 7 will be released in 2021 and M:I 8 will be released in 2022. Both films will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise will continue to play Ethan Hunt, of course. Chris McQuarrie directed “Rogue Nation” and “Fallout” and he’ll be directing two more.
This is good news to me ’cause I love these movies. I’ve always had immense respect for Tom Cruise ’cause I think that man is a great actor. I don’t have to hate the man ’cause of his scientology beliefs. It’s the entertainment that he gives us that matters. I know some people want to avoid his movies like the plague ’cause of his scientology and there are some that thinks the man is an asshole. I never thought he was an asshole. He seems like an alright dude to me.
I just think these Mission Impossible movies are entertaining as hell. I also respect the hell out of Mr. Cruise ’cause he did most of his own stunts throughout these movies. He did stunts through through these movies that could have killed him and I don’t see that stopping for the next two films. Seeing that Tom has the balls to do his own stunts at the age he is at now makes me respect him even more. That’s a part of why I continue to watch these films. I think they’re all great movies.
Have you noticed a new trend going on in the music industry? Yep, that’s right… a lot of famous rock bands and artists releasing their own brand of booze and selling them. Lately, everybody in the rock industry are doing it… selling their own alcohol brand… releasing their own beer, whiskey, wine and other hard liquor with their band name on the product. A lot more bands and artists have been joining the band wagon. Selling their own booze to their fans.
Which bands and artists have been doing this? Well at the top of my head, Megadeth came out with their own beer. Now Iron Maiden and Metallica just joined the bandwagon. I believe Motorhead just released their own whiskey. Other bands that have joined the bandwagon are Mastodon, Opeth, Ac/Dc, Sammy Hagar, Deftones, Anthrax, Ozzy Osbourne, KISS, etc. The list can keep going and going.
This is a new thing going on in the industry lately ’cause simply put, alcohol is a huge seller in America. I think bands just see this as an opportunity as a huge money maker ’cause they know alcohol sells well in America. I believe bands feel that they aren’t making enough money with their music careers by the record labels so bands figure out other ways to keep money flowing in their banks like with their merchandise, VIP packages and now you can add booze to the list.
I’ve been noticing this growing trend lately and I’m sure you have too. I’m sure many of these bands that sell booze to their fanbase are not alcohol drinkers anymore and recovering alcoholics, they just sell their own booze brands as a way to make more money. Bands selling their own booze brands are nothing but a big cash grab obviously.
It’s crazy. I’ve noticed all of these iconic rock bands spending lesser time in the studio and spending more time releasing their own booze brands. You’re going to continue to keep seeing this growing trend. Booze is a huge seller in America ’cause that’s all people want to do these days is drink.
I’m no longer an alcohol drinker myself. I used to be an occasional drinker but I had to stop since I got into weightlifting. We now live in an age where being a drunk is now accepted in America. I don’t drink but if other people want to, that’s their business, not mine.
Everybody has gym pet peeves and yes, even I do. I can come up with so many but these ones are the ones that annoy me the most. I don’t think I ever did this list before but if I did, oh well…
Enjoy:
People trying to talk with me during my workouts: I don’t really use the gym to socialize. When I’m in the zone and working out, I don’t want to be bothered. Most of the time I’m working out, I have headphones on listening to loud music so I can give people an easy sign that I don’t want to be talked to or be bothered. Yes, people will continue to be rude and want to chat me up anyway by tapping me on the shoulder or something so I can take my headphones off and chat with someone. I don’t want to talk with people during my workouts. I’ll socialize with people before or after my workouts but “during” is a big no no.
People who hog equipment: When I need to use a certain piece of equipment, there’s always someone taking forever on it. The squat rack, the deadlift platform and the cable machine are good examples. People take forever on these things, it’s crazy. When they complete one workout on a piece of equipment, they’ll do a different workout on the same thing. So annoying and pisses me off. I just keep doing other workouts while waiting to use this equipment I need to use. I hate equipment hoggers!
People giving me unsolicited advice: This happens once in a while. Some know it all comes over and says I’m doing a workout wrong and this person teaches me to do it his/her own way when I know I’m doing it right. This is a problem at the gym for sure.
People with bad gym etiquette: There’s a lot of people with bad gym etiquette. People don’t care to put weights back when they’re done, leaving trash behind, leaving benches and other equipment all sweaty, etc. I can go on and on. There are too many people who have no respect for a public and commercial gym. They only care for themselves sadly.
A real chatty person who goes around talking to “EVERYONE”: You’ll see this at almost every gym in America. There will always be this very chatty guy or woman just going around talking to everyone even if they’re working out and this person will talk to someone in between their sets. Sadly, some will see using the “gym” as a place to socialize, meet new friends and get to know everyone but in my opinion, the gym isn’t a place to socialize. If you want to socialize go to a coffee house or a bar. The gym is a place to get a good workout in.
Watching people doing workouts in bad form: You see this everywhere in gyms. People doing workouts in bad form. It’s a problem at my local gym. I see it every time I go there. Amazing how many people out there are misinformed with working out. Some people do workouts in good form but most people workout in the gym pretty horribly. Amazing.
Crappy music being played on the radio: It’s a part of why I bring my own Ipod to the gym so I can listen to my own music. Sometimes my local gym does pick a good radio station like classic rock and metal they sometimes play but my local gym are always playing bad country music, pop and rap music. Sometimes they even crank the radio a bit too loud too. I like my own music.
When someone asks me if I’m still using something: Happens all the freakin’ time. I’m using something and then I finish, someone will walk up and ask if I’m still using it. Does it look like I’m still using it if no else is? When I wipe something down and walk away it means I’m done, no need to ask me. Some people would assume I’m super setting on two different workouts but I don’t super set. Fucking people. *sigh*
Seeing a group of young kids bench pressing and watching them do it all wrong and sloppy: Sometimes at the local gym I go to, I would see a bunch of young kids. A group of 4 or 5 kids somewhere around 10 – 15 years old getting together to bench press and take turns. They do it in pretty bad form and sloppy, don’t even know what they’re doing. Sometimes I’ll sit there and watch ’em and I worry about them sometimes. I appreciate young kids looking out for each other in bench press but if a young kid that age going to bench press should be accompanied by a full grown adult who knows what he’s doing. Bench press is dangerous for youngsters that age, in my opinion and someday there’s gonna be a freak accident. I know young kids wanna be cool and look tough bench pressing but I don’t like it. Should be accompanied by an adult.
Loud weight dropping: Doing deadlifts and slamming the weight down to the floor is okay ’cause you’re doing heavy deadlifts and there’s no way to set it down quietly knowing from my own experience. With dumbbells however is different. Guys dropping heavy dumbbells to the floor loudly and heavily continues to be a problem. Not only that it’s annoying but it’s also very dangerous and could hurt you or someone else. When the dumbbells come down to hit the floor they could hit your leg for sure or worse when someone’s walking by you, you’ll never know that the dumbbell could land on someone’s foot. You could lose your gym membership for that if you hurt someone else. When you finish your set, it’s not that hard to set them down quietly or even better get yourself a spotter when doing dumbbell presses on a bench. I see guys using spotters all the time when dumbbell pressing heavy on the bench. It works. Try it.
Last week when I maxed out on the 295 lb. deadlift, I took out my lower back pretty good. I didn’t understand how that happened. I didn’t freak out and didn’t panic but kept positive and kept working out throughout the week. When you hurt your back deadlifting, you don’t sit around and do nothing at home. Just keep moving and keep doing your daily activities in life. I was trying to figure out how I did that. Was it my form? No. I figured out what it was that did it. I was doing too many sets and reps before maxing out on 1 rep to test my pr.
Gee, no wonder I had trouble on my pr’s the last couple of weeks on deadlift ’cause I was doing too many sets and reps. Looking at my program, I noticed I was doing a bit too much so from this point on, I’m only going to do 5 sets only and only doing 3 – 5 reps on the heavier ones. I was doing too many sets on deadlift that it was making me more tired and more weaker. I gotta stop doing that from now on.
Now that my lower back is all better and feeling no pain/soreness at all, I decided to try out the 5 sets and 3 – 5 reps method this week. It seemed to work quite well. Earlier today, I pulled a big 300 lbs. p.r. on deadlift (see video above) and it didn’t hurt me that time. So I got it all figured out. I’m realizing now that doing less is more to get more strength and bring your pr’s up quicker. I’m gonna follow that method through bench press and squats as well. Less is more is the trick.
I’ll try not to take out my back like that ever again but don’t worry, I was fine. It was nothing that serious. It was a minor injury but I was still able to walk around and do things. I didn’t bother telling anybody and didn’t go to the doctor ’cause I knew it was going to heal quickly and it did.
Today officially marks the release of the very first Led Zeppelin album which came out 50 years ago today. This is not only the 50th year of that album, it’s also the 50th year of the band Led Zeppelin. Today is a good day for the band ’cause they celebrate 50 years being in the music industry. With that being said, happy 50th birthday Led Zep! Jan. 12th, 1969 was the birth of Led Zeppelin.
I picked up the guitar because of Led Zeppelin pretty much. Jimmy Page made me do what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Jimmy made it cool for people to love the guitar and many out there have picked up the guitar because of him. A lot of us bands and musicians play guitar ’cause of Led Zep whether you want to admit it or not.
Of course, the first Led Zep album wasn’t how I discovered them. I discovered them by listening to “Stairway To Heaven” and that was the song that made me become obsessed with Led Zep so the first album I bought by them was Led Zep IV Zoso. The band only made 8 studio albums together but their career was still pretty historic and legendary. I love all Led Zeppelin albums except I didn’t like their last one “In Through the Outdoor”. That’s the only album I wasn’t too thrilled with at all and I still stand by it which is why I don’t own “In Through the Outdoor”.
My favorite Led Zeppelin albums were “Physical Graffiti” and “Presence”. They were the albums that did it to me.
Happy 50 years Led Zep and congratulations.
Here are my top 5 favorite Led Zep songs in celebration of their 50th.
I used to never take form and technique seriously when lifting weights but now I do. I take form very seriously now. Every aspect of it, even if it’s the smallest things… gotta do everything right. Yeah, the deadlift, bench press and squats maybe the kings of all workouts but it’s amazing to me that so many people do them wrong.
In this post, I’m going to explain on how people do them wrong. I’ve been going to the gym for years now and I’ve been observing and watching people how they workout. It’s amazing to me that so many do them horribly. I really do believe that so many people are misinformed and not very smart when it comes to working out.
Here are just a few common mistakes I see all the time for all three workouts:
Deadlift: 1) Leaning so far back when locking out. 2) Rounding of the back when lifting barbell off the floor 3) Hips too low as if you’re squatting 4) Deadlifting too close to the bar or too far back 5) Dragging the bar along your shins as you bring it up
Squats: 1) Not squatting down low enough (upper leg area must be lower than the knees, that’s the correct form) 2) Knee cave in as you bring it up 3) Heels come off the floor when trying to lift it up 4) Rounding your back 5) Leaning too far forward and not keeping your chest up where it should be
Bench press: 1) No full range of motion and refusing to bring the bar down to touch your chest (this is where half repping and partial repping comes in) 2) Butt coming off the bench 3) Head coming off the bench 4) Not having your eyes under the bar at the starting position 5) Not keeping your feet flat on the floor (some dudes would just bench with just their toes and heels pointing in the air, you’ve seen it. Some dudes would even bench with their feet planted on the bench which is bad, bad, bad)
There you go.
I’ve learned to perfect my form for deadlift, squats and bench press just by going through two powerlifting meets I did. I’ll be honest, though that my form for deadlift isn’t all the way perfect yet but even I’m still trying to get that down.
The point of this post is that it’s pretty crazy how people do these workouts in the gym pretty terribly. You would only see just a few people in the gym doing them right. I’m sure many guys get injured by doing them terribly too.
Form is a big deal y’all. Injury prevention is pretty important. You do them wrong, you could get injured pretty badly. You could get taken out of weightlifting for a couple of weeks, months or even years… even worse, your weightlifting days could be over for good depending on how bad the injury is.
I’m being very cautious ’cause I don’t want to get injured. Gym safety is important but unfortunately, not many people care about gym safety.
