Report: Yo yo yo yo homeboy…a rapping Joaquin Phoenix has a music documentary in the works directed by Casey Affleck!!!

Ever since actor Joaquin Phoenix quit acting in film to start a music career, you wonder what genre of music he is going to perform. With him playing Johnny Cash in “Walk The Line”, we all think he is either going to get into rock and country. Well, I guess we all thought wrong. Joaquin plans to be a rapper. Yes, he wants to become a rap/hip hop artist.

Casey Affleck, who is the real life younger brother of Ben Affleck, will be tracking the career and life of Joaquin Phoenix for a future music documentary film. Phoenix will soon be heading into the studio to work on a rap album to be produced by Sean Combs. Phoenix is scheduled to make his first public live performance as a rapper tonight at a Las Vegas club.

Man, what a huge dissapointment. I for one, was hoping he will get into rock or country for his music career, but Joaquin as a rapper? I can’t see that at all. Joaquin to change his hollywood rich man image to a gangsta image? I bet Joaquin has been getting rap coaching by Sean Combs. I didn’t think Joaquin was a big fan of rap/hip hop. Really weird.

Thought: I don’t think I will be watching the Barack Obama inauguration…

Does anybody actually need to watch this circus? What’s the need for the music performances and all that fun stuff after the president getting sworn in? Obama should just get sworn in and get right to work. Economy is shit, there’s a War in Iraq still going on, violence everywhere in the world, our pal Osama is still sending us messages, etc. Yeah, Barack is such a great president. Fuck everything else going on in this world while Nobama enjoys the live music at his stupid inauguration this coming Tuesday.

Report: “Strangeland” sequel is coming to the big screen and Dee Snider is set to reprise role as Captain Howdy!!!

Yep, Dee Snider’s horror film “Strangeland” which came out back in 1998 is getting a sequel. The name of the sequel is titled, “Strangeland: Disciple”. The film will get an NC-17 rating and Dee promises the next film will be ultra-intense. It will probably have nasty gore, nudity and sex scenes just like the first one.

Most would know Dee Snider as the frontman for the band Twisted Sister who is still together today with the same members. Dee Snider is an occasional film actor, writer and film maker. Dee first made his on screen debut as an actor in “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure” where Twisted Sister were filming a music video at Warner Bros. studios.

The plot to the sequel will be similar to the first, a dangerous serial killer taking out victims that he met on the internet.

More on it here:

Pretty sweet! I liked “Strangeland”, a sequel will be interesting. Looking forward to see what they’re going to do with it!

Thought: The pilot is no hero of the Flight 1549 Hudson River crash in NYC, the survivors on the plane are…

While I find the Flight 1549 crashing into the Hudson River in NYC and everyone survived to be an amazing story, I find it laughable that they made the pilot a hero of this whole thing.

The way I look at it, the 155 people that survived are the real heros, they had chosen to survive and to go through with this thing in the freezing cold, they are the brave ones.

I would think Captain Sullenberger himself would agree on that one. All pilots job is to keep passengers safe and alive, that’s what they are payed to do when flying a plane. His only goal was to land safely so he had no choice but to land in the river, it’s the passengers that did their best to survive the whole thing, not the Captain’s. Shame on the media for calling the pilot a hero, and not the survivors, just a sick ploy to get more ratings for their TV news shows.

BREAKING NEWS: “Watchmen” feud is officially over, FOX agreed to let Warner Bro’s release the film!!!!!

Oh my!!!! What a huge surprise!!! I guess the two studios, Warner Bros. and FOX didn’t want to wait for the Jan. 20th trial and set the deal early!! I’m sure all “Watchmen” fans are extremely happy now as I am myself. Warner’s and FOX settled a deal, FOX is allowing Warner’s to release “Watchmen” on March 6th as planned. Warner’s will NOT share any logos of FOX in the film, however, FOX gets share of the gross profits to whatever the film makes. The Jan. 20th trial will probably be dropped now that the deal has been made.

A few guesses on why FOX suddenly changed their mind on wanting to destroy the film……

1. Warner Bros. showed FOX a private screening of the film. FOX actually loved it too much that they think they can make good bucks off of this.

2. FOX realized that they would become the most hated movie studio if they did destroy the film, they want to avoid a public outrage by the “Watchmen” fans.

Either way, I’m so happy the film is being released March 6th and will see the film that day!! Glad this damn feud is all over with. It was all silly and lame anyways.

Film Review: Gran Torino

Starring: Clint Eastwood, Geraldine Hughes, Bee Vang

Directed by: Clint Eastwood

I have just seen the movie “Gran Torino” this afternoon and here is my review.

Plot/Synopsis: Clint Eastwood plays an old man named Walt Kowalski, who is a Korean War veteran whose wife just died. Walt is left alone except the only friend he has for now is his white dog. He is a grumpy old man who doesn’t like other people that is not white, knowing from his own experiences of the Korean War of his past.

Kowalski lives next door with a Korean family, he didn’t like them at first but a young boy who lives with that family Thao, who has a cousin that is in a gang is being bullied by his cousin’s gang. The gang tries to force Thao into stealing Kowalski’s classic car which is a Gran Torino which Kowalski never drives.

This is what made Kowalski tried to save Thao and his family ’cause they were being bullied and harassed. Later in the film, Walt Kowalski becomes friends with Thao and his family members which are all Korean people. Thao and his family are being hurt by these gang members in the town while Kowalski draws himself into saving their lives. Kowalski becomes a town hero for it because he is capable of fighting off gangs in the town when they are the most dangerous and violent people.

My thoughts on the movie? I thought it was real good. Nothing amazing or excellent, but it was a pretty intense film, mixed with comedy and suspense. It was an unpredictable story that kept you at the edge of your seat the entire time.

After 4 years of not being on screen as an actor, Clint Eastwood still has the acting skills. He was very good in this and he played the old man perfectly. I can completely understand why everyone would think this is a Dirty Harry movie when it isn’t, ’cause the movie is very Dirty Harry like. Very close, I would say!!!

“Gran Torino” was very enjoyable. It’s not one of his best movies, he’s made better movies in his past, but “Gran Torino” is definitely worth seeing in theater though. To be honest, I still find “Changeling” to be better than this.

It’s still great to see Clint back on the screen and not behind it again though. I hope he doesn’t give up the acting for good, I want him to give us one more Dirty Harry film!!! A film like this proves that he has the ability to bring Harry Calahan back. In “Gran Torino” the movie is very dark, pretty much a revenge story.

My top ten Clint Eastwood films whether he’s either acting/directing are here:

1. Mystic River

2. Changeling

3. True Crime

4. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

5. Escape from Alcatraz

6. Dirty Harry

7. Unforgiven

8. High Plains Drifter

9. Million Dollar Baby

10. Gran Torino

Score for “Gran Torino” = *** (3 stars as in good)
