Report: B.B. King…new album…old sound…

Blues legend B.B. King just finished recording an album with producer T. Bone Burnett titled “One Kind Favor”. On the album, it describes that while all the songs on the record are brand new, the sound on the album is old school oldies 50’s blues style. The sound that B.B. King started back in the day. B.B. King was a little nervous about it because he was worried that he couldn’t bring his old sound into the new but he managed to pull it off greatily.

The article doesn’t say when the album is coming out.

Rollingstone reports:

Sounds great! I think I may have to buy this album!

Report: Sheryl Crow to release Christmas album this year…

Sheryl Crow just finished recording a Christmas album for Hallmark’s record label, she recorded the album with producer Bill Bottrell. Read her interview with Billboard about what she says for the album. She doesn’t say if she writes her own original Christmas music, but it looks like it will be all traditionals.

Billboard reports:

A 60’s and 70’s style Christmas album? Interesting. Sounds like she’s going for an oldies feel with today’s current pop sound.

I’m a fan of Sheryl Crow. She maybe pop music, but she’s one of the very few pop rock artists I enjoy, at least she writes her own music and plays her own instruments. She writes fantastic songs, I dig her.

Happy Birthday: Sylvester Stallone

As of July 6th, it is Sylvester Stallone’s 62nd birthday, yes he is 62. He is really not that old as you all think he is. So the man has plenty of years ahead of him to make a lot more movies. This is a man that I grew up admiring my entire life. Yes, ever since I was a child. Definitely a big hero and inspiration in my life.

Whether he had a bad career or not for most of his life, he is still a legend.

I was going to do my own tribute Birthday video to Sly but I don’t have the software to do it. So I will post someone else’s Sly tribute in my blog below. Happy Birthday Sly. And thanks for bringing back Rocky and Rambo back to the big screen like us die hard Sly fans been dreaming of for a long time. This man has been desperately fighting to bring Rocky and Rambo back to the big screen for years, and he finally did it. This man deserves all the respect.

Being obsessed with drinking…

I don’t get drunk anymore. I stopped a long time ago. I still enjoy having a few drinks once in a while, but I don’t get drunk. I don’t see how people are obsessed with drinking. Pretty much, there’s a lot of people out there that pretty much all they do is drink beer or whatever kind of alcohol they can get their hands on. Some people drink alone, but most like to form a group of friends to party with a community. It’s a fact that there are alcoholics all over the place. Especially my home town of Greenwich. It makes you wonder why the Old Station Inn bar and the Thruway Beverages are pretty popular here in this small town.

I like to drink a few beers ’cause I enjoy the taste of beer, I don’t drink it to get wasted and have a good time, I drink it because I like the taste. The only time I’ll have a few drinks is when I’m out at a bar room gig, when I get invited to a party or partying with my brother and his friends.

I used to get drunk sometimes in the past, but I either get sick or pass out these days. But come on people, there is more life than just drinking alcohol. Nothing wrong with getting drunk and plastered once in a while, but doing it all the time is suicide. There is nothing cool about drinking in a shithole bar in your hometown. NOTHING cool about it!

While it is pretty fun to go to a bar, to meet new people and meet new friends, still though there is a lot of whacked and messed up people that go to bars. This is why I’m not much of a bar hopper. I very much stay away from them. The only time that I’ll go to a bar is when my cousin’s band, Sauce is playing at one or if I’m playing a gig at one. I will not go to a bar room just for the sake of drinking.

Yes, I do meet and run into some cool and down to earth peeps at bar rooms, but when I run into some whacko that won’t shut his mouth makes me want to leave the place. You can enjoy life without alcohol. If you think illegal drugs are destroying people’s lives, alcohol can do it easily too. There are many important things in life and better things to do than drinking. Save your money on more important things.

Sure, I buy a lot of entertainment stuff like music CD’s, movies on DVD, and videogames and shit like that, but hey, buying that stuff is much better than wasting it on drugs or alcohol. You want to have a good life and be a good person, then do something about it. There’s nothing “cool” and nothing “special” about getting wasted. I don’t know why so many people think it is.

Happy 4th of July.

Report: The cast of “Friends” reuniting…but to the big screen?

The Daily Mail exclusively reports that the original cast of “Friends” will be returning but it won’t be TV, it will be a major theaterical release film instead! This article says a “Friends” movie has been greenlighted. They say that the original cast: Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Leblanc, David Schwimmer, and Matthew Perry are all committed to return as their original characters from the hit TV sitcom. The film will be made by Warner Bros., and “Friends” movie getting the greenlight was inspired by the “Sex in the City” movie being such a big hit.

I hope it’s true. I was a huge fan of “Friends” and I will go see the film if it gets made. Bring on the film!

Report: Jeph Loeb creator of “Batman: Dark Victory” comics defends Robin about Christian Bale’s comments…

Christian Bale threatened to quit doing the Batman movies if the film makers ever decided to bring the character Robin into the new films. Which is pretty hypocritical of Bale to say because he once said that Batman “Dark Victory” comics is what Bale loves to read. And guess what? The “Dark Victory” comics had the Robin character in them.

Jeph Loeb says the Robin character in Christopher Nolan’s Batman series would work if done right. He says if they took the time to tell the story properly, the Robin character can be good and extremely moving.

MTV Movies Blog reports:

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/07/03/should-robin-be-in-batman-comic-legend-jeph-loeb-defends-the-boy-wonder/#more-2891

A Batman movie without “Robin” would be a huge mistake. If Chris Nolan decides to do a third Batman movie (I know he will keep doing a few more), he should definitely bring in Robin in the next one.

Chris O’ Donnell doesn’t work as Robin. They need to find the right actor. And no, Tobey Maguire, Hayden Christensen, and Shia Leabouf would not work as Robin either.

We need a young actor who can act really good. A good Robin actor can make the character work “if done right“. Robin is a very important character to the Batman franchise, always has been. If Nolan’s new Batman movies does not include Robin, would be travesty. And those who think Robin does not deserve to be in a new movie is insane. Seriously, Robin being in a new film would not kill the Batman franchise. I think it’ll be a success.
