Rollingstone’s Top 500 album list is disappointing, just like most of their top lists are…

Rollingstone magazine revealed their top 500 albums list. Of course, the Beatles dominate the top 10. While most Rollingstone top lists are crap, I agree with no. 1. Beatles, “Sgt. Peppers” is the greatest album ever made, in my opinion. I’m disappointed that Led Zep is not even in the top ten, they are way up there.

Check out the list, here.

I think I’ll do my own version of the Greatest Albums of all time list, I’ll at least do a top 20, and you betcha, Led Zep will dominate my version. I’ll do my version, sometime this week.

Cool Video: Joe Nacco in a zombie apocalypse in his video for “She’s a Zombie”…

Joe Nacco is a musician who I’ve known for a while. I’ve done a bunch of shows with him in the past. I think he’s a talented songwriter and he’s pretty underrated around this area, I would say.

It seems that Joe is a fan of horror films and zombie stuff. As you can see, Randy McKinley, is in the Joe Nacco Band now and he is in the video, the bassist with the long hair. I think Randy looks pretty cool as a zombie.

This is a pretty well made video. The zombie make up was well done too. It seems like a video that George A. Romero wish he’d made.

Scooby’s chest idea, actually worked…

I actually tried Scooby’s chest idea that he showed in that video. Went with his decision, and tried it at the gym. Did the well rounded chest workout, the regular chest workout, and I also hit the upper and lower pecs, doing incline/decline stuff. Well, guess what.

My pecs have been pretty sore for the past couple of days since that chest workout a couple of days ago. If I keep doing the chest workouts this way, without doing any pushups so I won’t overtrain, I could finally get some good chest gains if I keep at this.

Ever since I first started fitness, I’ve been struggling to shape up my chest some, and thanks to Scooby, I finally discovered a way. The rest of my body looks fine enough, it’s just the chest needs more work. If I want to have a well built physique over all, I need bigger chest muscles.

Trying the best I can, by trying different things.

Why this blog has been staying away from entertainment news more…

The reason I haven’t been posting much celebrity news ’cause Hollywood news is getting way too gossipy lately. Hollywood and celebrity gossip has never been my thing. I never cared for gossip, and this site was never about that.

This site is about giving my opinions and honest thoughts about most things in the entertainment business, but I mostly focus on music and movies. Sometimes I would discuss other topics like fitness/health, wrestling, books, etc.

It’s probably another reason why I got talking about local music and bands more often ’cause there’s nothing else to write about.

A blog is a great way to speak your mind and get things off your chest, which is pretty much the only reason I blog for. It’s not an ego or an attention seeking thing at all. I would only blog something if I have something worthy to say.

Not only musicians need to stop the hate & drama, regular music fans need to do the same as well…

This post is aimed for the people who are not musicians. Just regular music lovers who supports local bands. They too, seem to be openly opinionated and honest toward local talent. Using the internet to bash those they don’t like and using the internet to voice their honesty. They really need to cut the negative attitude and keep opinions to themselves as well.

It would be nice if they would support all bands & musicians more as well. Not just support the stuff that they like, which is what they seem to be doing lately. Local bands and musicians, work hard, so we all deserve to get heard and be supported.

That’s the sad thing about the internet, it gives the freedom for people to write what they want about others. I usually ignore the negativity and haters, yes, they can hate me all they want to but it would be nice if some of them would have a change of heart, ya know?

They should be supportive of all music too. I do have some regular music fans that actually like my music ’cause they are nice enough to stay loyal to me, but it would be appreciated if more would be supportive.

Like I said plenty of times before, you can’t ask and beg for their respect, I guess you have to earn it, like I’ve repeatedly said. You want to win their respect by making the best music possible, and I am doing the best I can.

My point is, that we all need to get together and support each other in a more positive note, that includes musicians and regular music fans. It would make a better music scene.

Is Bruce Willis the most overrated actor ever? I would think so…

Alright, I think I’m about tired of seeing Bruce Willis, in almost every movie trailer I see. It seems that the guy is every where lately. I’m not really a big fan of his acting, and I don’t think he makes a good action hero.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED HIM in the first “Die Hard”, but that’s probably about the best movie he was in. I also liked him in, “The Sixth Sense”, “Unbreakable”, “Pulp Fiction”, “Twelve Monkeys”, and “The Fifth Element”.

Other than that, the rest of his films hasn’t been that interesting to me. Seems like Hollywood is trying to shove Bruce in our faces lately. His next couple of movies are, “The Expendables 2”, “G.I. Joe 2”, and “Looper”. The guy comes out with at least 2 or 3 movies a year.

He is a work horse, indeed, but I’m getting tired of seeing him. He is not the badass anymore that he once was. He showed the badass part of him in the first “Die Hard” movie. His badass personality doesn’t work with his other characters. His other characters can’t top, John McClane.

Some bands take themselves too seriously with image & stage presence…

I understand that musicians need to dress and to make your image the way it can fit your genre, but to me, I think image is not important. Trying to look fancy for the genre that you play, is pretty silly, in my opinion. With this, being “local” music, it shouldn’t matter how you dress or how your image is. In my own music career, I never took image seriously. I just wore whatever the hell I wanted on stage. I’ve always liked to look casual and normal. You don’t need these gimmicks to look like a rockstar, ya know? I look at image and stage presence just for show, like an attention seeking kind of thing.

All you need is the musical talent, that’s it. As long as you have the talent, people wouldn’t care how you look. When I get my own rock n’ roll band going, we’re not going be wearing leather jackets or have make-up on our faces. We’ll just be ourselves.

Music shouldn’t be about the looks, anyway.

Musicians need to end the drama, hate and jealousy. Support each other would be helpful.

The big problem with the Albany music scene (or any music scene out of the area), that there is too much competition with other musicians & bands all over the place. It would be helpful if other musicians kept their negative opinions to themselves. Stop the jealousy and hate ’cause there’s a lot of it around here.

One way to make it a better music scene and one way to take your career to the next level, is to be helpful and supportive of other musicians. That includes supporting me, too.

This is how I’ve always been over the years. As you can tell, I’m very supportive and helpful with other musicians. Just my way of networking and just my way of promoting my own music. It’s just a good way to get yourself out there, networking with other musicians. Doesn’t matter the genre they play. I like the musicians that are the same way. Gladly to support everything, they will even support my music as well.

If you’re the type of musician that will bash other bands or venues publicly and if you’re the type who wants to think you’re better than everyone else, those are the kinds of musicians I wouldn’t want to associate with. Those are the kind of musicians who I will shut out of my life completely. You’ve seen it happen before.

The music scene should be supportive equally. Treat others how they would like to treat you. That is the mission that I have been trying achieve in these blogs for years, that’s the whole point. Try to end the drama and get everyone to support each other, but nope.

Some musicians will always have their head up their ass, thinking, they can be a negative nancy all they want to. No bashing, and no making fun of other musicians for laughs ’cause that’s all kiddie stuff.

Instead of destroying each others careers ’cause you don’t like each other, we should just get together and help each other out. Help each other get heard and help each other get success in music. Help each other reach our dreams and goals. Help me and others to achieve the same goals that you achieved, but nope. Nobody wants to do that.

There are some supportive and helpful musicians around that will be willing to help you, we just need more of it.

Film Review: The Raven

https://i0.wp.com/www.filmtrophy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/the-raven.jpg

Starring: John Cusack, Alice Eve, Luke Evans
Directed by: James McTeigue

So today, on a cold windy day, I’ve decided to hit the mall to check out, “The Raven”. Being the big Edgar Allan Poe nut, I had to see this film for myself. Here is my review:

The film is set in Baltimore, Maryland, in the 19th century. There is a serial killer on the loose, taking victims and killing them as inspired from, Edgar Allen Poe’s fictional stories. Of course, Edgar, is being framed for these murders, so he tries to hunt down the killer himself, so he can save the love of his life, Emily.

A lot of critics gave this film bad reviews, but did they see the same movie, I did? I thought it was a pretty good one, actually. Not the best movie ever made, but I thought it was entertaining and a good enough homage to, Edgar Allan Poe.

This is NOT a biopic movie. This movie is totally fictional, mostly. The only true part of the film was Edgar’s death at the end of the movie (not a spoiler ’cause everyone knows how Edgar mysteriously died).

I look at this movie, “The Raven”, as a tribute to the late and great writer. That’s all it is. Giving a tribute of his most famous work everything from, “The Pit & the Pendulum”, to “The Tell Tale Heart” to “The Premature Burial”, and of course, throughout the film, there are tons of Edgar Allan Poe references from his poems & stories.

I thought John Cusack, made a pretty good Poe. I was pretty impressed with him. Honestly, I’m not that big of a John Cusack fan either. The only other movie I liked with him in it, was, “Being John Malkovich”. I’m just not a big fan of Cusack, but he made you feel like Poe is still alive.

I was also impressed with the cinematography and the costume design. The film was pretty dark. The film had quite a lot of gore too and actually got kind of creepy at times, too. Throughout the film, they tried to not reveal who the serial killer was, they kept it secret, but it was too predictable on who the serial killer was. I had a pretty good guess since the film first started.

Even if the writing was weak at some parts and the acting wasn’t that great, I thought it was an alright movie. This is one of those movies I will watch only once and never watch it again. I don’t think I’ll be buying it on DVD/Bluray.

Hopefully, when Sly decides to do his version of the Edgar Allan Poe story, he’ll make it a biopic film and tells the story about Edgar’s real life, and not bring any fiction into any of it. I’m sure Sly’s version will be different than this version.

Score for “The Raven” = ** (2 stars as in “okay”)

Sean Penn deserves the respect for his work in Haiti…

Love him or hate him, what Sean does for Haiti is impressive. I’m sure he’s being accused of doing this for more publicity and for his own ego, but I don’t think so. Sean really cares for people, and doing this work, shows that he actually cares. He puts the people 1st before his acting career, as you notice he’s been staying away from acting & Hollywood more and more. Sean is a real hero for that work he does in Haiti, so therefor, he definitely deserves that award. He is doing something good and he is making a difference. He never stopped working for Haiti ever since that earthquake and I don’t think he’s going to stop working in Haiti anytime soon. He could live there permamently if he wanted. He’s doing something really good. Hollywood & movies aren’t important, helping people is.

Haiti is still struggling after all these years. The country needs all the help they can get. I agree with Sean that more people needs to help Haiti ’cause it seems like nobody cares anymore and Sean is the only one helping. Congrats Sean and keep up the good work.

Read more on it, here.
