Report: Warner Bros. interested in Kevin Costner for major character in the next “Superman” movie…

Well here’s the next Superman casting pick! Warner Bros. and the rest of the Superman crew, are very interested in Kevin Costner, for a major role. Nobody said what character he would be playing in the “Superman” franchise, but the most popular pick is people think he’s going to play Jonathan Kent, Clark’s adoptive human father.

See the report here at, Deadline.

Yeah, I agree that Costner would be great for Pa Kent, but honestly, Costner has a Lex Luthor vibe to him. Keep in mind that Costner played quite a lot of villains in movies over the years. “Mr. Brooks”, “3000 Miles to Graceland” and maybe a few others he played the bad guy. I know people don’t want them using Lex Luthor again, but I think they will. Costner does play a villain very well, almost psychotic and mean. He might be great for Luthor. Don’t be surprised if they do decide to use Luthor again.

“Waiting for Superman” is one of the most powerful documentaries I’ve seen in a while, it’s a shame it got the Oscar snub…

Yesterday afternoon, I finally saw the documentary, “Waiting for Superman”. As you all know, this is the most talked about documentary movie online. I saw this yesterday afternoon on DVD and I loved it. The film actually blew my mind. It was a very well made documentary all around. Great narration, interviews, filming, music, etc. It’s a film that exposes the truth on schools and education. It gets into detail on how schools are failing. It shows how bad teachers are making students fail, not graduate and all that stuff. It’s obviously a very political driven film. Of course, it showed all the Michelle Rhee stuff and how Bill Gates got into saving education.

This film brings back memories to my school days. I was an okay student. I ddin’t get straight A’s or 100’s, I did pretty good in most subjects. I was good at English and Science. Social Studies/history, I was okay in but still wasn’t my favorite subject in the world. The worst trouble I had in school was math. I’m not a big math person, was never really interested in it. After getting out of school a long time ago, it now makes me wish I was more motivated in math and makes me want to get good with numbers. Education and school is a very tough thing in life. This film proved that. It’s also a very sad film. I wish education can be better in the United States ’cause I think the education thing is broken myself.

This is a very inspiring and moving film. It’s a real shame that it didn’t get nominated for “Best Documentary” at the Oscars at all. It should. It’s a very important film that everyone needs to see and learn. Do yourself a favor, give this movie a rent or buy it, and be inspired. This movie will be helpful for your information on education and your children if you have any.

Report: “Poltergeist 4” on the way? Instead of a remake?

Variety wrote this interesting article. MGM have announced they are moving forward with 5 new projects. The reboots of “Robocop” and Michael Keaton’s “Mr. Mom”, they are also planning an “Idolmaker” remake, along with a “Hercules” film with Peter Berg producing. Most surprisingly, MGM announced a 4th “Poltergeist” film, instead of a remake.

See the full article, here, at Variety.

Well, I think a “Poltergeist 4” is a great idea. Remaking the series would suck, I prefer a fourth installment to keep the story going. You may ask, how are they going to make a “Poltergeist 4”, when Heather O’ Rourke, child star who played Carol Anne is dead in real life? They can keep the story going easily.

For example: They can reunite Craig T. Nelson and Jo Beth Williams as the Freelings, Carol Anne’s parents, where the film announced that Carol Anne the character dies, and Kane (the villain in the series) takes her spirit to the Other Side. The Freeling’s tries to get over Carol Anne’s death, but maybe Carol Anne’s spirit comes back from the Other Side to haunt her own parents. The ghost Carol Anne would not be evil in the film, however, she protects her family from evil. Maybe, the series main villain, Kane comes back to haunt the Freeling’s, Carol Anne the ghost tries to stop Kane.

This is not the plot for the next movie, I’m just giving an idea. To show you an example of how they can keep the story going. They would have flashbacks of Carol Anne from the earlier movies too.The character Carol Anne is still alive in the movies because in the 3rd she comes back from the Other Side at the very end.

The Poltergeist movies are my favorite horror films, love all 3 of them. I felt there is more to the story to be told after the 3rd one. Back then, they couldn’t make a 4th one because of Heather’s death obviously, maybe MGM decided the story can go on somehow. Heather died during the filming of the 3rd one, when they were almost done with the film.

If they get a replacement actress for Carol Anne, that would be wrong, so I don’t think MGM stupid enough to do that. They won’t. I think MGM wants to bring “Poltergeist” back because of the success with the “Paranormal Activity” films.

I think it would be great if Craig T. Nelson returns as Steve Freeling. Craig T. Nelson is still acting, he’s been doing the “Parenthood” TV series on NBC, so I think he’ll return to “Poltergeist” whenever he gets offered to return.

So yeah, bring on, “Poltergeist 4”. I’m interested in how they will continue the story. The story deserves a nice closing ’cause “Poltergeist III” did open for another film.

Report: “Dead Island” video game to become a live action film…

The controversial video game trailer, “Dead Island” which is a zombie apocalypse first person shooter video game and also a role playing game, hit the web last Thursday and the trailer already became a huge internet sensation. The game quickly became the most anticipated game for this year.

The trailer just hit the web a few days ago, and the game haven’t even came out yet, already, Sean Daniels and Union Entertainment are quickly gearing up for a live action movie adaptation for the big screen. The company’s already acquired the rights to the film years ago. There is no script and no director yet, they still need to get together talent packages and story lines to get a screen deal.

See the report here at, Deadline.

After the popularity of the Walking Dead TV series, prepare for more zombies in the entertainment business. That’s okay though. I’m more of a huge fan of zombies than vampires and werewolves. Zombies are my favorite monsters.

I saw the game trailer to “Dead Island” too, and I immediately became sold myself, so I will definitely pick up the game when it comes out later this year. The game looks like a blast to play.

Film Review: Unknown

Starring: Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger, January Jones, Frank Langella, Aidan Quinn

Directed by: Jaume Collet-Serra

WOW! How about this awesome weather today everybody? Isn’t it amazing where today feels like the first day of Spring? You could actually walk outside without a coat on! It won’t stay this way too long though. 😦 It’ll get cold again, this weekend, BOO! I hear ya, I hear ya, I’m tired of the cold weather myself.

Today, I decided to go to the mall to check out a movie and do some fun shopping for myself. I was gonna see the film, “The Rite”, with Anthony Hopkins, but they stopped playing that film, so I would have to wait for that movie to hit DVD instead.

I also went to Best Buy and picked up a few movies on DVD as well. I ended up buying, “I Spit On Your Grave” horror film remake, “Exit Through the Gift Shop” documentary, and “Waiting for Superman” documentary. I’ve been reading great reviews about those three movies so I blind bought them, never saw them before. Looking forward to seeing those movies this weekend.

I ended up seeing the movie, “Unknown” starring Liam Neeson, the new action thriller. This would be my first 2011 release that I’ve seen this year. On with my review:

Plot/Synopsis: Liam plays a man named, Dr. Martin Harris who was in a dangerous car accident in Berlin and was put in a coma for 4 days. When he woke up after his coma, he meets up with his wife, Elizabeth, but suddenly, she doesn’t know who he is. Another man claims to be her husband and has the same name, Dr. Martin Harris, it seems that the real Dr. Martin Harris identity has been stolen. As Martin tries to find his real identity and tries to find out why his wife doesn’t recognize him, he is being hunted down by assassins. Martin tries his best to get his wife back and tries to investigate what went wrong. Martin gets help from a young woman named, Gina, who is played by Diane Kruger.

I was at first a little worried about this film. When I went into the theater, I’m like, “oh man, hope this film don’t suck”. It surprisingly didn’t. It turned out to be an entertaining film with a lot of twist and turns. It’s a mystery suspense film, that was unpredictable and kept you guessing until the very end.

Yes, the storyline of some guy waking up and finding his identity being gone, have been told through movies thousands of times (Jason Bourne, perfect example), but this one was done right, and intelligently. The film had the whole package. It was a perfect popcorn action flick, all around. The writing was great, the cast was phenomenal (Frank Langella, is what made the movie exciting alone).

Plus, the action scenes in this movie were surprisingly a blast. It had some great car chases, plenty of fighting and gun shooting, explosions too. It had it all. You might think this film is kind of similar to “Taken”, Liam’s previous action flick, but “Unknown” is ten times better than, “Taken”. I loved Diane Kruger’s character in this flick, too, she’s a great actress.

I have no complaints with the film at all. An excellent film. After “Taken” and this movie, Liam Neeson will be the next great American action hero, he’s almost there. Could Liam be a great addition to the “Expendables” cast? Absolutely! If you like a great action movie with a bit of suspense, this is the film for you.

I’ll have to warn you though, there is a big shocker at the end of the movie, I’m not going to spoil anything. The ending is pretty questionable and will leave you scratching your head. Great film, check it out.

Score for “Unknown” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)

Report: Universal quickly gearing up to revive Terminator, now that Arnold is back in Hollywood…

Since Arnold made that tweet on his twitter page that he’s officially coming back to acting, it didn’t take long for Universal to get right to work on, “The Terminator” franchise. It’s no surprise to me that Universal have been waiting for Arnold to get done with his governor stuff so they can do another Terminator movie. Are they hoping that Arnold will finally agree to reprise his role as the T-800? Could the Terminator be Arnie’s first role back in Hollywood?

Universal is interested in Justin Lin to direct the next Terminator flick. The same director who made the last three “Fast and Furious” movies. Universal was going to continue the “Terminator: Salvation” trilogy with Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, but they ended up getting into a bankruptcy war against, Pacificor, so they had to end the new trilogy. So I don’t think that series would ever continue, so does that mean Universal is planning another Terminator re-boot? Start the series over again?

See the interesting report at, Deadline.

I don’t see how the writers will bring the T-800 Arnold model back, but they’ll carefully plan something. I think re-starting the franchise is a better idea. As long as they don’t make it a remake of the first Terminator film, I’m all for a re-boot.

I just want Arnold back as the Terminator. Hopefully he’ll agree to return for the fans. Don’t give me this, “he’s too old” crap. He’s only 63, Sly Stallone is older than him. If Stallone is still doing action movies, why can’t Arnie? I’m  sure Arnie is capable of doing his own stunts for action flicks, still. I’m sure he will do action films. His best friend, Sly, will inspire him to keep the action genre going.

Want to see “Memento” 10 year Anniversary screening this Thursday night?

Before “The Dark Knight” and “Inception”, in my opinion, it was , “Memento” that I thought was Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece. If you haven’t seen, “Memento”, I’d suggest you see it soon. It is Nolan’s best storytelling. More creative and unique than, “Inception”.

On Thursday Feb. 17th, there will be special screenings to celebrate the 10 year Anniversary of “Memento”, being shown in selected theaters. The event is being held by Cinedigm which is owned by Lionsgate studios. See the list of theaters, here.

If the film is being shown in your area, I’d suggest you go. If you see this film, you would understand why he did the Batman films and, “Inception”. Read their press release, here.

Follow Cinedigm here on, twitter.

Report: Charlize Theron joins Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” sci-fi film…

Actress, Charlize Theron, has said yes to starring in Ridley Scott’s new sci-fi film, “Prometheus”. She will star alongside Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender. The film is slated for a June 8th, 2012 release date. The film was originally going to be a prequel to the first “Alien” movie, but the script was re-written to an original motion picture instead.

The Hollywood Reporter, reports.

I love Charlize Theron. She’s a beautiful woman, sexy, and a talented actress as well. Looking forward to this now!

Report: “Die Hard 5” director found, Noam Murro will helm the next John McClane installment…

Deadline reports, that an unknown director, I’ve never heard of, Noam Murro, have been confirmed to direct, “Die Hard 5”. Of course, Bruce Willis will reprise his longtime role of John McClane. Noam Murro directed only one movie in his career, which is a comedy called, “Smart People” that starred, Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker. Do you think Noam will have what it takes to direct an action film? The reason they hired him is because FOX were impressed with his work for the “Halo” video game, so they thought he would be a good fit for the next Die Hard flick.

See the report here, at Deadline.

Well, all the Die Hard movies had a mix of action and comedy. Even the first one had a lot of comical scenes in it. Hopefully the next Die Hard flick will be a Hard R. “Live Free or Die Hard” the 4th one wasn’t a bad movie, I liked it, but it didn’t feel like a Die Hard movie. Probably because the last one was PG-13, no swearing, not as violent, and no blood. The last Die Hard flick was a family friendly movie. Hope they go back to the roots where the next one feels like the first one.

10 directors I’d love to see Arnold make a film with…

Now that Arnold is finally back in Hollywood after a long 7 year Governor run, what directors do you want to see Arnold working with? I’m a huge fan of Arnold’s movies. I’ve pretty much watched all of his films.

Here are 10 directors I’d love to see Arnie working with in the future:

  1. Sly Stallone – How about a longer role for Arnie in, “The Expendables” sequel, Sly?
  2. Kathryn Bigelow – I can definitely see, “The Hurt Locker” director work on something with Arnie in the future.
  3. Christopher Nolan – Definitely not for a Batman/Superman flick, but I would love to see Chris Nolan work on an action film with Arnold.
  4. Clint Eastwood – I don’t think Arnold’s ever worked on a film with Eastwood before, maybe now it’s the time?
  5. Quentin Tarantino – Again, these two never worked together before. This would be an excellent collaboration and I’ve heard that Quentin’s been wanting Arnie for a long time.
  6. James Cameron – These guys would probably team up again, maybe not for another Terminator movie, but hopefully a sequel to the movie “True Lies”.
  7. Darren Aronofsky – I can see these two making a good thriller together, or maybe a sports film.
  8. David Fincher – I can see these two making some kind of drama or thriller. Would be a good team up.
  9. Ridley Scott – Another director Arnie never worked with, maybe someday?
  10. Guy Ritchie – I can see these two making some type of action/comedy together. Ritchie was once almost attached to direct, “Sgt. Rock” with Arnie but it never happened. Now that Arnie is done, maybe Guy and Arnie will finally do something!
