The movie, “Oculus” was surprisingly really good…

If you wanna watch a pretty cool supernatural ghost story for Halloween night, “Oculus” would be perfect for that. This was surprisingly a great film. Finally watched it last night. The film stars, Karen Gillan who is most famous for playing in “Dr. Who” the sidekick for Matt Smith.

“Oculus” was actually pretty creepy and scary a little bit. I thought the script was well written and the film was unpredictable too. Not bad for a film that was produced by WWE Studios. I was quite surprised with the film when I watched it last night. Most new horror films have been garbage as of late but finally we get a decent one.

You should definitely check this one out if you haven’t yet. So far, this is the best horror films of this year.

Ernie Hudson was correct… fans don’t wanna see the “Ghostbusters” all-female reboot…

When you look at feedback from the fans of the new “Ghostbusters” all-female reboot through facebook, blogs and movie forums… you read comments from fans about the new film… you’ll notice immediately that the criticism toward the “Ghostbusters” re-boot is mostly negative. I’m not seeing too much positive feedback at all. Most every response by a user is a negative comment aimed at the new film. This means that Ernie Hudson was correct… fans don’t wanna see it. This is something the fans don’t wanna see.

What the fans originally wanted to see was a third continuation. A third film adding to the trilogy with the 4 original Ghostbusters: Peter, Ray, Egon and Winston. Since Harold Ramis died earlier this year, it’s impossible to make a Ghostbusters reunion happen now.

With all of this negative feedback Sony have gotten over the new Ghostbusters re-boot… Sony doesn’t care. They’re not listening to the fans and Sony is moving ahead with it anyway. So far nobody likes the idea of an all female re-boot. Even women are trashing the all-female idea and female fans want the Ghostbusters to stay as male.

My question is, why was Sony quick on changing the storyline direction to all-female re-boot? Dan Aykroyd originally wanted this to be a continuation of the first two films. So Sony approached Paul Feig to direct in which Paul’s previous films are mostly chick flicks. Paul Feig is obsessed with this all-female thing. Paul gave Sony the idea that he wanted Ghostbusters to be all female… Sony and Dan Aykroyd must of agreed with him. Instead of giving what the fans want, they instead do things that pleases themselves.

As you can see, it’s very difficult and challenging to make a good “Ghostbusters” movie in this day and age. Very hard to pull off. The original Ghostbusters are aging, one of ’em died and the others don’t really wanna do it well except for Dan Aykroyd, he’s the only one that he’s game for it of course ’cause this is his movie.

The thing is, everyone just wants it to be a “true” Ghostbusters movie. The all-female thing is not true Ghostbusters… that’s what everyone is complaining about and I hear them. At first I thought it was a good idea but after thinking about it, I thought to myself… “Eh, maybe they’re right, the all female thing is kind of silly”. They’re just desperate for a box office hit.

Dan is the one who started this project. He’s the who got it going and got everyone together to make it happen. I wish Harold Ramis didn’t die. If he was still here, he would’ve stopped the all-female thing from happening and he would have done what it took to make Ghostbusters fans happy.

Another reason we don’t want this to be a “re-boot” is ’cause there are too many reboots in Hollywood and we’re sick of ’em. We just don’t want this happening to Ghostbusters since the Ghostbusters are considered important classics especially the first one. I can understand why everyone is complaining.

Since Harold died and Bill Murray wants no part of it, Sony should really leave this alone and throw this project in the trash but nope. Sony is committed to this project obviously.

I think it’s interesting of how much controversy that comes out of making the new Ghostbusters. I’m sure Dan Aykroyd will explain more and defend the project when he starts doing interviews again. We’ll soon learn more about the changes of this project.

Fans wanna see a good Ghostbusters movie, that’s all we pretty much want. Come on Dan, speak up and give us some answers!!!

Ernie Hudson slams “Ghostbusters” re-boot… he says making it all female is not “Ghostbusters”…

Welp… look like we aren’t gonna see Winston Zeddemore in the new “Ghostbusters” ’cause the actor who plays the character doesn’t agree with the all-female Ghostbusters idea. Click the article above and read what have to say. He makes a lot of sense, I guess.

In my opinion, it isn’t Ghostbusters without the 4 original characters: Ray, Peter, Egon and Winston. Ray is probably gonna be in the new film in some form but if the other guys aren’t, then why call it Ghostbusters, ya know?

I can’t see Ghostbusters being good without Ivan Reitman helming it. I don’t think Paul has what it takes to put horror and comedy together.

I was on board of a new film until Harold died. After Harold died, I thought to myself, “A Ghostbusters film cannot be good without Harold being involved so they might as well trash the project”… of course, they didn’t. I’m predicting a box office bomber with this film… nobody’s gonna see this.

Bill Murray said an all-female Ghostbuster film is a good idea but Ernie decided to have some balls and have a different opinion on it. Kudos to Ernie for keeping it real!!! \m/

Paul Feig talks more on “Ghostbusters” re-boot…

Originally, Dan Aykroyd visioned this movie as a continuation of some sort, leaving off from where “Ghosbusters II” ended. Dan’s original idea was that he wanted new recruits for the new Ghostbusters… 3 new young males and 1 female being trained by the 4 original Ghostbusters (Ray, Peter, Winston and Egon). Since Harold Ramis passed away, Ivan Reitman stepped down from directing and Bill Murray finally saying “No”… the creative direction spiraled out of control and the story had to make some changes.

After Sony approached director Paul Feig, Paul gave them the idea that he wanted the Ghostbusters to be all female and Sony agreed with the idea.

Paul explains that this new movie is a complete reboot. A new origin story. It will not have anything to do with the previous Ghostbusters films at all. Kind of like “Man of Steel” not having anything to do with the earlier Superman films. Paul doesn’t explain the plot to the new Ghostbusters, he’s keeping it under wraps for now but he does give us some of his ideas a little bit.

Am I the only one who haven’t seen “Bridesmaids” or “The Heat”? I’m not a chick flick kind of guy so I’d probably stay away from these movies and from what I’ve seen both of those movies got mixed reviews.

Even though I am losing interest in the new “Ghostbusters” film, I still hope we get a Louis Tully cameo. Rick Moranis coming back for a short role would be awesome. Seeing the new “Ghostbusters” film for Louis Tully alone would be worth it!!! If Louis Tully comes back that would be good enough to be in line for it.

I’m still betting my money that Melissa McCarthy is gonna be the first one to get casted.

I’ll have to admit that I’m losing interest in “Ghostbusters III”…

Today it was announced that director Paul Feig is confirmed to helm the new “Ghostbusters” film along w/ Katie Dippold to help him write the script. Like the title of this post says, I’m losing interest in the new Ghostbusters film. I think I started to lose interest in it when Harold Ramis died and Ivan Reitman stepped down. Then Bill Murray finally said no.

Then there’s gonna be the possibility that Melissa McCarthy is gonna be the big star of the film and it’s probably gonna happen. Don’t be surprised. I don’t wanna see a huge woman running around in a Ghostbusters suit running out of breath with a heavy proton pack. I saw one movie with Melissa McCarthy and that was “Identity Thief” and it wasn’t that great. Melissa is not that good of a comedian. It’s not because of her weight at all. It’s just that she’s a bad actress, annoying and not funny.

Since the original Ghostbusters crew: Ramis, Murray and Reitman aren’t gonna be involved then I’m not gonna be interested. This is the reason I think this film is gonna bomb horribly. This is also why I think they’re gonna get Melissa McCarthy for the role hoping to get more people to see it and they know this film is gonna bomb without her. It’s obvious they’re gonna get Melissa for this and don’t be surprised that when they start casting, she’ll be the first one to get announced. I’m betting my money on it.

You figure that Sony would scrap this project after the passing of Harold but nope. Sure enough, they had to continue on. This film is Dan Aykroyd’s baby, he’s the one who got it going so he’s definitely committed to it no matter if the original team is gonna be involved and he doesn’t care about the public’s criticism toward the film… he’s moving forward with it whether people likes it or not.

Most Ghostbusters fans are pretty skeptical with the next film and I hear them. I’ll admit it that I don’t want the film to happen now that Ramis, Murray and Reitman aren’t involved. I’m not interested in a complete re-boot, I was hoping for a continuation with the 4 original Ghostbusters like most fans.

This film is gonna flop hard. I don’t know why Dan is desperate to get this made. Probably needs the money and desperate to get back in the Hollywood spotlight.

Movies to see for the rest of the year… my final list…

Welp… 2014 is almost up and there’s a few months left. What movies in theater do I plan on seeing for the rest of the year?

Here’s a short list….

In October:

“Fury” the new war film with Brad Pitt and Shia Labeouf. This looks like a good one. I’m a huge fan of war flicks so I’ll see this one.

In November:

“Interstellar” the new Christopher Nolan outer space movie with Matt McConaughey. Looking forward to this one.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” I’m definitely seeing the newest installment to the Hunger Games franchise.

In December:

“Exodus: Gods and Kings” The new Ridley Scott film starring Christian Bale. I was pretty impressed with the trailer so I will be in theater for this one.

“American Sniper” the biopic film that tells the story of Navy Seal Chris Kyle and also based upon the book. This film comes out Christmas Day. Not sure if I’ll see it on Dec. 25th but definitely the week after!

That’s pretty much it. I’m skipping the new “Hobbit” movie and will wait for rental on that one. I didn’t like the last “Hobbit” movie… pretty let down with “The Hobbit” franchise and I think Peter Jackson is ruining it.

Kev

Look like there’s gonna be more “Twin Peaks” after all, David Lynch teasing us about it…

I knew there is gonna be some kind of continuation. They need to explain Dale and the Black Lodge. I hope they bring Kyle back as Dale and they probably will. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about Laura Palmer as well.

Will there be a new season? Mini series? Big screen movie? We’ll wait and see.

Rumors of a Twin Peaks continuation have been going on for years now but David Lynch denied that every time. He claimed there are no plans of a continuation but never say never. I think he’s being secretive about it and not trying to give away surprises. A sequel of some sorts is probably gonna happen.

I’m glad Lynch is gonna bring us more Twin Peaks which didn’t surprise me since they released that BluRay boxset.

Film Review: “Gone Girl”…

Starring: Ben Affleck, Rosemund Pike, Tyler Perry, Neil Patrick Harris

Directed by: David Fincher

Today, I just went and saw the new David Fincher film, “Gone Girl” and here is my review:

Plot/Synopsis: On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne reports that his wife, Amy, has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?

So far, out of all the movies I’ve seen this year in 2014, “Gone Girl” is definitely the best film of this year. David Fincher does it again! This is an edge of your seat kind of movie and you’ll be hooked to this film right from the start (Fincher does this with all of his movies). I thought this film had the best writing I’ve ever seen. The script was perfect. It was smart and intelligent writing. The story was unpredictable and had plenty of twists and turns. The film does a great job keeping the disappearance of Amy Dunne mysterious.

I know Ben Affleck isn’t everyone’s favorite actor but it seems he’s getting better with his acting as of late. Affleck was actually pretty enjoyable in this film. Affleck’s character seemed pretty realistic and he had personality. I was most impressed with Rosemund Pike who played, Amy. I think Rosemund Pike is gonna get an Oscar nod for this role. The entire cast did a great job. Neil Patrick Harris (formerly known as Doogie Howser) even did a great job even though his role was short.

Trent Reznor killed it with the score again. Trent played incredible music for “The Social Network and “Dragon Tattoo” but I think the music he did with “Gone Girl” was the best of the Fincher movies. It makes me want to get the “Gone Girl” soundtrack soon.

They tried to make Amy look like a sweet innocent young woman who deserves to be found but once you watch the actual movie, you may think differently. The ending is a real head scratcher and will make you say to yourself, “Huh?”. When the film got over with and the credits started rolling… I noticed that the people in the audience (which was half full) didn’t stand up from their seats to leave the theater right away. It took them a little bit to leave the theater ’cause I would think they were pretty stunned with the ending like I was. I won’t spoil anything, of course.

This really was an amazing film as I predicted it would be. David Fincher always makes good movies so it doesn’t surprise me at all that this film turned out good. This movie is definitely worth the money and you should definitely go check it out. I’m definitely getting the BluRay to this film when it comes out. I haven’t read the book yet but probably will soon.

I’ll give this movie a perfect 5 out of 5 score as in “excellent”.

Adam Sandler to star in 4 Netflix exclusive films…

I used to be a big fan of Adam Sandler. I used to watch him on SNL in the earlier days and used to watch all of his earlier comedy films like “Happy Gilmore”, “Billy Madison”, “Big Daddy”, “Airheads”, “Bulletproof”, “The Waterboy”, “Punch Drunk Love”, “Anger Management”, etc.

I haven’t been liking him too much anymore ’cause he haven’t been choosing good movies lately. The latest movie I’ve seen of his was “Funny People” and haven’t seen anything else after that.

Netflix have officially teamed up with Sandler to make 4 movies exclusively for Netflix streaming. The titles and plots of those 4 movies are unknown at this time but I would imagine they will be mostly comedies. Sometimes Adam Sandler would do a different genre like he would try to do a drama once in a blue moon. When these movies arrive on Netflix, I’ll check ’em out.

In the beginning of Netflix, I had already predicted that they were gonna start making their own TV shows and films and I was right. Netflix is making history here so good for them.

First photos of Clint Eastwood’s next war movie, “American Sniper” released…

I’m happy that Clint Eastwood is bringing Navy Seal Chris Kyle to America’s attention. Chris Kyle who is mostly famous as the most lethal sniper deserves recognition. It’s time for America to recognize the hero that Chris Kyle really was.

Obama never acknowledged Chris Kyle’s death and Kyle never even got the medal of honor.

Will this movie show the scene where Kyle got into a bar fight with Jesse Ventura? While I’m sure that will be entertaining as hell scene to be put in the movie, I don’t think Eastwood would touch it since Jesse Ventura successfully won the lawsuit. This scene probably won’t even be in the film at all ’cause of it, I would think unless, Eastwood decides to re-write the scene and not have Jesse Ventura as a character?

Anyway, I’m pretty sure this is a movie that Obama wouldn’t want to see and I’m sure he doesn’t even want it to happen.

It’s time for America to learn what Chris Kyle did to our country and what he did to protect us. I’m looking forward to this movie. Eastwood is no stranger of making war films as he made war films before.
