Disney’s “Maleficent” poster released… and Angelina looks pretty frightening…

I hate most live-action Disney films but I’m actually looking forward to, “Maleficent”, with Angelina playing the famous, “Sleeping Beauty” character. The poster for the film, “Maleficient” was released today.

See it, here.

Now that the poster is out, I’m looking forward to the film even more! All I need next is a trailer which I think will be released tomorrow. I’ll post it asap. Most new Disney films are horrible these days but I’m hoping this will be a good one. The story sounds interesting so far.

Has there been more gun violence in PG-13 rated films than the R rated films lately? I’d say absolutely!!!

I usually hate, “Study finds…” articles on the internet ’cause most of them are complete bullshit but I actually agree with this one! Finally, a “study finds…” that is actually pretty truthful. This study finds that there have been more gun violence in PG-13 movies more than R rated films these days. It has tripled since the 1950’s.

More on the story, here.

Yes, I have noticed that gun violence in PG-13 films has been on the rise in this day and age. Why? I have a few observations that I think why that is…

1) Kids don’t care to see PG-13 comedies and dramas anymore. They want to see violent movies just as much as the adult movie fans do. They find comedies and drama boring so they start seeing action movies instead. I wouldn’t blame it on video games or their parents… I would blame it on Hollywood, all the way. Hollywood controls America what to watch. They want to give kids every opportunity to see violent films and making violent movies with the PG-13 is just their sneaky way of allowing kids to see violent films. Violent films is what people want to see and that what makes Hollywood the big money.

2) Hollywood is exploiting the gun violence that goes on around America and since these real life gun tragedies get so huge in the media. This is what makes Hollywood keep the violence going in PG-13 movies. Controversy sells, that’s the trick here.

It’s sad that people don’t wanna see serious films anymore.  I’m talking serious films like drama based on real life events or history kind of films. Nobody wants to see that stuff. Everybody wants to see violent action-packed movies… that’s why that genre is so huge. Horror films are becoming a dying industry because of it. Nobody wants to see romantic movies anymore either (with the exception of the Twilight/50 Shades franchise but that’s a different story).

Look, I like violent and action-packed movies myself, yo. Action movies is what I grew up on but we need a variety of films here. It used to be that action movies came out during the spring/summer time but when the fall/winter comes, they’ll start showing all the serious dramas. It’s not like that anymore. There are violent action films all year-round now. It’s crazy.

To make a simple point, nobody wants to see serious movies like “Lincoln” or “42”… these days everyone wants to see stuff like “Transformers”, “Jason Bourne”, and all of these super-hero flicks.

I like action movies, yes but I like to watch all kinds of movies. I watch everything: action, horror, drama, comedy, thrillers, etc. I just like a good movie no matter the genre.

Hollywood is going to keep making violent movies as long as it helps make them the money. I’ve been paying attention to Hollywood for years now and it’s interesting how it changes. Not only that everybody is obsessed with violent movies… they are also obsessed with 3D… reboots and remakes.

While I am a big movie buff and go to the movies pretty often… I’m kind of bothered at how Hollywood is going right now.

“Star Wars: Episode VII” release date announced for Dec. 18th, 2015…

Welp, apparently Disney and Lucasfilm are in a big rush for “Star Wars 7” as they promised long ago. They confirmed a release date for Dec. 18th, 2015, and if you think about it… that’s not so far up ahead. Do you think JJ can make a good Star Wars movie in a year??? Read the press release, here.

The title and synopsis is still not yet known but we’ll know soon enough. Now that they have a director, writers, composer (John Williams), and a release date… they should start casting soon. So we will soon know whether or not Harrison, Mark and Carrie are returning. I think there’s a 100% chance of them returning. They claim they haven’t been signed yet but I think it’s a lie so they won’t reveal too many surprises. I think the original trio signed as soon as Lucas sold Lucas film to Disney.

What will the next movie be like? It’s gonna be interesting to find out who the main villain will be. Hopefully, they won’t bring Darth Vader back. We need a new and original villain. I’m sure C3P0 and R2D2 will return. Chewbacca will come back as well… maybe Lando? I hope Han Solo will reunite with his Millennium Falcon ’cause that would be pretty badass! I’m sure we’ll get lightsaber fights, spaceship battles and the usual family/friendly stuff for the kids.

I hope JJ will do a good job and don’t mess it up. One thing to keep in mind, there’s going to be lens flare all over the film, though. You know how JJ is obsessed with that.

Film Review: Gravity…

gravity-movie-poster-closeup

Starring: Sandra Bullock, George Clooney

Directed by: Alfonso Cuaron

Today, I finally saw the movie, “Gravity”… the outer space movie and here is my review:

Plot/synopsis: Two astronauts, Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock) who is an expert medical engineer on her first space mission and Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) who is a veteran on the way to retirement was on a mission but their shuttle was destroyed leaving Stone and Kowalsky the only survivors. They try their best to survive and return home to Earth safely but of course things get a lot worse.

I understand that Sandra Bullock isn’t everyone’s favorite actress. I was never a fan of hers myself but after seeing this movie, I am now absolutely in love with Sandra! A lot of people want to judge her by her past work in Hollywood. There are people negatively criticizing Sandra saying stuff that they refuse to see this movie ’cause they think her acting is bad. I mean, come on? After finally seeing this movie… Sandra really showed her acting talent. She proved that she “CAN” act. Without a shadow of a doubt, I think she has an Oscar coming for this role whether you like it or not. Before negatively judging her, you should actually see this film. You’d be surprised of Sandra. I thought she did an amazing job. Plus, she was sexy as hell in the film too!

As for the film itself… I honestly thought it was the best film released in 2013. It’s a true science fiction movie at it’s best. It’s a pretty realistic story… something that can happen in real life. I’m sure NASA has already dealt with similar situations like this in real life. I’m sure NASA had plenty of accidents and plenty of astronauts were killed. Remember, the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster? If not, look it up. Everyone dreams of wondering what it’s like to be out in space but this film wants to give you a reality check that being out in space is not all that fun as you think. It wants to show you how dangerous space can be.

The film may have only two people throughout but the film was still amazing. The script was perfect. The visuals were phenomenal, and the score was excellent as well.

Clooney’s acting is great as always but Sandra steals the show here.

This was a beautiful movie and it blew me away. The film has a mix of emotions. It can be very scary and frightening at times — it can also get funny/comedic and very sad.

I would strongly suggest you check this movie out before it stops playing. See it in 3D. This is the best 3D movie, in my opinion.

Two thumbs up.

Double film review: “V/H/S 2” and “Texas Chainsaw”…

Earlier this week I watched two new horror films and I thought it would be cool to review them briefly for this site… here they are:

This movie, “V/H/S 2” is a found footage film. Filmed in the style of “Paranormal Activity”, “Blare Witch Project”, etc. Ya know, those movies filmed with just a handheld camera.

This film is the sequel to “V/H/S” which you could stream on Netflix. “V/H/S/ 2” is pretty much the same idea from the first movie except the plot to this film is about two private investigators who are on the search for a missing student. They go to the missing students home and they find a collection of VHS tapes. The two investigators watch the collection of tapes which have different things going on them. They aren’t good things either… they are evil things. Things like ghost stories, zombies, the cult and aliens.

The VHS films are a collection of short horror films kind of like what you see in “Creepshow”.

I did like the first V/H/S film but it had slight problems. I think the “VHS 2”, the second one was a big improvement. The stories were scarier… even more gruesome and disturbing. They can get funny and entertaining as well. I was watching this film at the edge of my seat throughout the whole movie and I rarely experience that watching horror films. It was a pretty intense movie. After the movie got over with, I was blown away and was like, “What the hell did I just see?”.

I think VHS 2 is one of the best movies of this year.

I think the VHS series deserve more recognition and hope someday… these films get the respect they deserve. When this film first opened, it wasn’t shown in that many theaters so it wasn’t a wide release so I guess you can call it a straight to DVD release. I can understand why ’cause movies like this are way too graphic to be shown nationwide. If the makers of the VHS series keep up the great work, they can one day be bigger than the “Paranormal Activity” franchise.

VHS series are awesome and I’m already looking forward to “V/H/S 3”.

I watched the new “Texas Chainsaw” film last night and to be honest, I was pretty disappointed with it. It was a horrible film, actually. Probably one of the worst movies of this year. This film is the sequel to the 1974 film directed by Tobe Hooper. This film is about a young woman who travels to Texas to collect an inheritance from her family. She goes to Texas with a group of friends to go to her home that she was going to sign papers for. The home is a huge mansion that her grandmother once owned. Of course, turns out that Leatherface the chainsaw guy was living there.

They really need to come up with new material if they want the Texas Chainsaw franchise to work. It’s the same rehash from the two other remakes. A group of friends travelling in a van to some old house only to find out a cannibalistic man with a chainsaw living there. Same usual thing… her friends get killed… Leatherface chasing a screaming girl through the woods…. blah blah blah… you get the deal. Plus, this movie has tons of plot holes. I don’t mean to spoil things… not trying to but they gave Leatherface a name in this movie… they revealed his identity and turned him into a good person instead of this evil mysterious monster. Tons of plot holes all over this film. It was too predictable as well.

How many times can Hollywood remake Texas Chainsaw and ruin it? It’s sad because I’m a huge fan of the franchise and the Leatherface character. I wouldn’t recommend this movie for Halloween. If you want to watch a Texas Chainsaw movie for Halloween… I would suggest the 1974 film and the Marcus Nispel 2003 film is pretty good too.

While I do like the fact that Hollywood is trying to keep the horror genre alive… they’re gonna destroy the horror genre if they keep exploiting iconic characters like Leatherface, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kreuger, Michael Myers, etc. I hear a Chucky and Hellraiser reboots are on the way too.

Forget the new “Texas Chainsaw”… the movie was garbage.

JJ Abrams will take over writing duties for “Star Wars 7” along with Lawrence Kasdan to help out…

Michael Arndt was originally hired to write, “Star Wars 7” but it appears that Lucasfilm/Disney have hired new writers to take over. They are JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan. JJ Abrams is still directing, “Star Wars 7”, he will do both writing and directing. Lawrence Kasdan will help him out. As some of you Star Wars geeks out there may already know, Lawrence helped out with the writing for “Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”.

I’m honestly skeptical of JJ jumping aboard for writing duties ’cause JJ is a horrible screenwriter. He ruined “Star Trek”, “Mission Impossible” and many of his own TV shows. He has even ruined “Lost”. His show, “Lost” started off really good but the show ended pretty badly. It’s a good thing JJ isn’t the only writer for “Star Wars 7”.

The synopsis for “Star Wars 7” is still unknown at this time but we’ll find out soon. Will this movie leave right off from where “Return of the Jedi” ended? Will Luke, Han, and Leia return?

Lets hope they do a real good job with the movie and hope they give what the Star Wars fans want. JJ is a massive Star Wars fan. He seems to know about the franchise better than anybody so I hope he’ll do it justice.

Don’t be surprised if “Star Wars 7” turns out to be garbage, though. After the crappy “Star Wars” prequels and the crap “Star Trek: Into Darkness”, it’s hard to take anything these guys do seriously.

Deadline reports.

Tom Hardy set to play Elton John for biopic film…

Elton John’s movie company, Rocket Pictures, is moving forward to his biopic film and they have found an actor to play the legendary pianist and singer/songwriter. Tom Hardy is officially set to play Elton John for the upcoming biopic film. Tom is previously known to starring in roles such as “Warrior” and playing Bane in “The Dark Knight: Rises”.

This is a great choice ’cause Tom and Elton kind of look like each other. Only thing though, Tom is a pretty buffed and muscular guy. Elton wasn’t muscular at all. Elton was skinny in his early years. Another thing will Tom have to learn to play the piano and sing or will Tom lip-synch to Elton’s tracks for the film? In this article it said that Elton the man himself will re-record all of his iconic hits for the film. Not sure if Tom will sing the lead on them. He probably will, I would think.

One thing to keep in mind though, there will probably be plenty of gay scenes in this film. I’m sure the film will depict on how Elton and David Furnish (Elton’s husband) got together. Just one thing to be aware.

This is gonna be an interesting biopic and it has potential to land a lot of Oscar nominations… I’m feeling that already.

I do like the music of Elton John but only his material from the 70’s and 80’s. “Madman Across the Water” and “Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy” are two of my favorite albums of all time. I never cared for Elton’s new stuff pretty much; although, Elton’s album, “The Captain & The Kid” was a good album (which was released in 2006)… that album was the sequel to the “Captain Fantastic” album.

Check out the full news story about the Elton biopic here

Charlie Hunnam speaks for the first time since “50 Shades” exit…

Charlie Hunnam, spoke publicly to the media for the first time; however, he won’t get into any details about his feud with Universal Studios about the “50 Shades” departure. Instead, Charlie talked about that he’s moving right on to his future projects. He says that he plans on doing another movie with Guillermo Del Toro and he plans on finishing “Sons of Anarchy” the final season. So don’t expect Charlie to change his mind about dropping out of “50 Shades”. Look like he doesn’t plan on having a change of heart with Universal anytime soon. That’s good. Charlie is a tremendous actor, he’s very talented, and he doesn’t need “50 Shades” to go somewhere in his career. This guy is bound to be a big name movie star someday. He’s got a good career ahead of him. Who needs 50 Shades? Charlie doesn’t need the mainstream publicity like the “Twilight” cast… that’s not for him.

As far as “Sons of Anarchy” goes… I know Season 6 is currently airing on FOX but I’m not watching it ’cause I’m not caught up with the show. Netflix haven’t updated Season 5 yet and wish they would be more faster updating the series. I love “Sons of Anarchy”. That’s one of my favorite shows on TV… it’s hard to catch up with it all.

Read more on what Charlie have to say, here.

He seems like a strong and tough guy. After all that negativity and drama with Universal Studios, he says “fuck them” and he’s moving right on. Much respect!

Arnold says all of your favorite quotes from his movies in these new videos…

On Arnold’s youtube channel, he’s been taking fan requests for him to quote his famous lines from his movies over the years. Of course, he did his most popular quote which is a hit on the internet, “Get To The Choppa”, which is from the movie, “Predator”. He also did quotes from “Kindergarten Cop”, “The Running Man”, “Jingle All the Way”, “Conan”, and his new movie, “Escape Plan”. He says he plans on doing a lot more and he’ll get to them when he can.

When he does more, I hope he does the “Fuck You” quote from “Total Recall”, not sure if he’ll do that one but it would be funny! I also hope he does, “You’re Fired” from “True Lies”, “I eat Green Berets for breakfast, and right now, I’m very hungry” from “Commando”, “To Be Or Not To Be” from “Last Action Hero”, and I hope he does more from Terminator besides “I’ll be back” or “Hasta La Vista”.

Arnold maybe a controversial guy in the media but no matter what you think of the man, these videos prove that Arnold has acting talent. Arnold seems to appreciate his fans and this is what he is doing this for to entertain them. You may try to impersonate Arnold with his movie quotes but only Arnold the man himself can do these quotes well. He didn’t become a rich man for nothing… he’s definitely no fake at all.

Enjoy these videos, there’s more of his quotes on his channel.

“Beetlejuice” sequel is on the way from Warner Bros. and Tim Burton???

Tim Burton and Michael Keaton have both been planning a “Beetlejuice 2” in the media for many years, and it looks like the film might actually happen soon. Reports are saying that Mr. Burton is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to direct the follow-up to “Beetlejuice” that was released in 1988 (also starring Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis). They already have a script written by Seth Grahame-Smith for the sequel.

The plot of the sequel is unknown at this time but I hope it’s a “sequel” and not another lame re-boot. I hope the next film will leave off from the 1988 film.

It still might be a few more years until this movie actually happens ’cause Mr. Burton still has a few other projects in the works so “Beetlejuice 2” maybe a while. I’m glad this is happening ’cause I’m a huge fan of “Beetlejuice” myself. Michael just kills it with that role! I’m sure he’ll still kill it when he comes back to it! Michael maybe 62 but I’m sure he can still play the character very well. It’s gonna be interesting to see how they’re gonna pull off the sequel, though. Lets just hope they don’t do another version of the Banana Boat Song.

Also watch the older interviews in the videos below where Michael and Tim briefly discussed interest of revisiting the Beetlejuice character. They seem pretty game for it!

Read more on the story, here.
