Cool Photo: Zeppelin blimp flies over the White House today…

Led Zeppelin posted this photo today, of the Celebration Day blimp flying over the White House. I believe it was the same blimp that was flying over the Dallas Cowboys, stadium. The Zeppelin blimp flying over the White House, is not photoshopped.

I almost forgot that Led Zeppelin is being honored at the Kennedy Center tomorrow, that’s why the Zeppelin blimp flew over the White House today. I hear that the band, Led Zeppelin will meet with President Obama himself, I believe?

Anyway, as much as I don’t like President Obama, I’ll give him respect for this one time. Even if Led Zeppelin is from the U.K., the band created American history, so this honor is very deserving for Led Zeppelin. I wonder if Led Zeppelin, will perform a few songs tomorrow in D.C.? Wouldn’t surprise me if they will.

Thought: Why Metallica leaving Warner Music label so they can have their own label is a good idea!!!

So Metallica, the kings of metal, announced this shocking news out of no where, that they have left Warner Music, and started their own record label, called, Blackened. The band also revealed that they have taken all of their original master recordings of all of their albums, and including videos. They took everything with them. That includes their Dec. 10th release of “Quebec Magnetic” BluRay/DVD.

See the news, here.

While Metallica, doesn’t get into details of what they’re planning with the master recordings of their albums and videos, I’m assuming that they are planning on re-releasing everything for better quality. I mean, people are always complaining about the sound quality of Metallica albums, and maybe this is the whole point? Re-release all the albums, so they can sound much better. The same with the videos for better picture and sound quality.

Not only this, the band also wants complete control over their songwriting. With them being signed under a major label before, their producers helps write them the songs. The band having their own label, more creative freedom in the songwriting process. I’m actually looking forward to what Metallica is going to sound like, now they won’t be a part of the major labels anymore. The band could sound different and have potential to bring back thrash metal, if they wanted.

Yep, with a band or artist signed with a major label, you don’t have full control of your music anymore. The label does. This is a smart move Metallica did, and honestly, they should have done this a long time ago, after the “Black” album.

I’m sure Metallica is getting negative criticism at this move, calling the band sellouts, and all, but I think this is a good idea. I’ll always stay loyal to Metallica, no matter what the haters think. Congrats to Metallica. I support them on this.

Itunes 11 thoughts…

Well, since Itunes11 has been released this week, I decided to update it to that today and give it a try to see how it is. Much to my surprise, it’s very impressive! The library is much more organized. It’s easier to find things and easier to look at, than the older versions. I haven’t really checked out the whole program and all the features quite yet, but so far, I’m liking what I’m seeing. It’s awesome stuff. My only gripe with it that the music skips a lot while you’re browsing the web at the same time, so hopefully Apple gets that fixed soon. It probably does that ’cause Itunes11 is so huge in size, over 80MB, pretty big software. Other than that, Itunes11 is great and think they did a good job.

Now YOU get to pick the “Rock and Roll – Hall of Fame” inductees…

For the first time ever, the Rock and Roll – Hall of Fame is allowing the fans to get their voice heard on who they want to get inducted. If you want Rush to make it in 2013, this is your chance to finally help the band.

I too voted for Rush, of course, I also voted: Deep Purple, Heart, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, and Donna Summer.

See the poll, here.

Cool Video: Do you have DirectTV? You may be the first to see Led Zeppelin’s “Celebration Day” on TV…

Led Zeppelin is teasing something again, by posting a photo and a video of a zeppelin flying over Dallas, with the words, Direct TV, over a screen showing clips of the, “Celebration Day”, movie. This is a hint that “Celebration Day”, could soon be aired on DirectTV satellite.

This is a cool way of marketing.

Led Zeppelin, has always been known to come up with crazy ways of marketing themselves. I’m pretty sure Jimmy Page himself, comes up with the wild promotion ideas.

On a side note, I know “Celebration Day” have been out on Blu Ray/CD. The Holidays are upon us.

Review of the PSY “Gangnam Style” song…

Look, don’t get me wrong. It’s pretty cool that K-Pop is getting recognized and how Asian culture is being brought over here, but honestly, I don’t see anything special about PSY’s “Gangnam Style” video. I didn’t find it funny, and the song itself was just horrible. The song itself is just like American pop except it’s done Korean style. The video was almost embarrassing to watch. Not trying to sound hateful. With that being said, the video and the song was the worst piece of crap ever. Usually, popular videos are crap, so this is no surprise. I know the internet has been all over this for a while now, I just haven’t saw the video until today. I just had to check it out for myself. People really like this crap? Wow!

Chris Brown, why reward this piece of shit???

Isn’t it insane that the American music industry continues to reward Chris Brown, ever since the 2009 beating against, Rihanna? If a real man like me beat a woman, that would be a 10 – 15 year prison sentence or possibly more. All Chris got was that he was put on five year probation, was put on community service, and was forced to get put on domestic violence counseling. WTF? He got lesser punishment because he is rich and famous. Period.

Last year, he released his album, “F.A.M.E.” which was a huge best seller, and this year he released another album. I think he also won a few grammy’s.

Beating a woman, something like that can’t be forgiven or to forget. I refuse to support this guy and anybody that does, is fucking nuts and delusional. What’s even more insane is that there are rumors that Chris Brown and Rihanna, got back together. I don’t like either Chris or Rihanna but beating a woman is never cool.

At least South America is paying attention.

I can’t stand the attention this guy is getting, and can’t stand how this guy is everywhere you look. It’s not about jealousy, ’cause there is nothing to be jealous about with this guy.

The reason the labels continue to work with Chris ’cause gossip and celebrity controversy that makes the news helps people buy more records. That’s how the world of entertainment works these days. Whatever makes the money, I guess. This asshole should be in prison. He shouldn’t be getting all this attention that he doesn’t deserve.

It is unfair that troubled celebrities continue to get special treatment, when real people like us get worse punishment than they do. Gotta love the power of fame and money. Gotta love how this world works.

While I love Neil Young, “Journeys”, was one of the worst music documentaries I’ve ever seen! WOW!

Yes, I’m a huge Neil Young fan, but his latest rockumentary with collaborator Jonathan Demme, was one of the worst music films I’ve ever seen. The live performances were amazing, of course, throughout the entire film was horribly shot. Really bad camera work. For a few songs, there was a point where the camera did a close up of Neil’s mouth, and you can actually see his teeth and the inside of his mouth when he is singing. I’m like, really? I’m not making this up, watch the film yourself. It’s creepy. I don’t see how Neil himself enjoys seeing himself like that. The live performances were at, Massey Hall, during the “Le Noise” tour.

The concert was just Neil and his guitar. Switching from electric or acoustic, with no back up band. In between songs, there are interviews with Neil driving around Ontario where he grew up, in one of his old fashioned cars. Those parts were interesting but we needed more of it.

I hope Neil will stop working with Jonathan Demme soon ’cause they already worked on 3 films together, and I don’t think I’ll bother watching the other two, after this one.

There was one part that I did like, though, was the ending of the film. When Neil finished a song, the last song of the concert, Neil went backstage, and the camera followed him and recorded everything he did backstage. He was eating some kind of fruit, either lemons or oranges, can’t tell which, and he was drinking some kind of alcohol, while his fans chanted for an encore. Then he went back out and played one last song. After the final song got over with, Neil once again walked backstage and outside to the tour bus and that was it. That was the only scene of the film that I liked, but the rest of the film was garbage.

Jonathan Demme should stick with making fictional movies ’cause music documentaries isn’t for him.

Report: Jimmy Page speaks on the Led Zeppelin full reunion tour that never happened…

There’s been a lot of speculation on why a Led Zeppelin full reunion tour never happened after their 2007 reunion gig at the 02. A lot of people blamed it on Robert’s aging. Some even went as far as saying the band didn’t want to embarrass themselves and they could destroy their legacy if they went on. None of that is true. Jimmy Page speaks to Rollingstone explaining the whole thing. Why the band never toured. The band wanted to, and I’m sure Robert was willing at the time, it’s just that he was busy with other projects. Led Zeppelin was going to go on with a different singer, but that never happened either.

See? The band were just like us. Even they wanted the tour to happen like the rest of us but wasn’t sure.

Still though, I’m sure Jimmy Page will come out with a project of his own. I see Jimmy Page, planning a comeback with his own career in 2013. Maybe new solo album or a project with a different band? Hope, Jimmy is planning a comeback soon. I’m sure he is planning something.

In defense of Soundgarden’s “King Animal”… the album is getting mixed reviews…

Soundgarden’s 6th album, “King Animal” is getting mixed reviews by critics and fans online. A large number of people are disappointed in the new album. I’m reading other people’s thoughts about this album in facebook, and other forums and blogs. Why? This is a true Soundgarden record. This album defines the band’s sound. Out of their six albums of their career, I think this is the best one. I think the reasons for people being disappointed from what I’m reading are: 1) They expected this album to sound like “Louder Than Love” and “Badmotorfinger 2) They expected something heavy 3) They expected an album of radio friendly singles like “Badmotorfinger”, “The Superunkown”, and “Down On the Upside”.

Maybe this is why people don’t understand,”King Animal”, because it wasn’t meant to be a radio friendly album. On “King Animal”, you’re certainly not going to hear radio friendly like songs such as “Black Hole Sun”, “Spoon Man” or “Blow Up The Outside World”. In fact, I can’t see any of the songs on “King Animal” being considered as hit singles, and I love albums like that. I love albums that wants to stay away from being mainstream sounding.

On top of all this, this album has the “Louder Than Love/Badmotorfinger” classic sound all over “King Animal”. It has it’s signature sound from almost every album. There are a few songs that sound like that it was from “Down on the Upside” as well. While these are all brand new Soundgarden songs on the album, “King Animal”, it celebrates the sounds from the earlier albums. Of course, there are also some new and different styles thrown in there too. While this new album certainly is a grower, I liked it the first time I heard it. It is a pretty heavy album from what I’ve heard.

Soundgarden are maturing as songwriters. This is a unique and different approach to songwriting. The time signatures are odd, the tempos are different, the riffs are awesome, and Chris can still sing really good. He may not be able to sing like he did in 80’s but the man still has some great pipes. Him doing Audioslave and a few solo albums, did not take the sound away from Soundgarden at all. They still sound like Soundgarden, even after a 13 year break.

Anybody who badly judges the album, the first time hearing it and didn’t like it, probably haven’t gotten over their past. Well get over it. The new album has all of their old classic sound all over it, as I explained. Some people didn’t like it ’cause the songwriting is so different than the earlier albums. It’s a pretty tight and sick album. Loved it!
