Report: Billy Joel pulls the plug on “The Book of Joel” memoir!!! Bummer!!!

Just a while back, Billy Joel announced on his official website that he had plans in releasing a memoir titled, “The Book of Joel”, which was set to be released in June. Not anymore. Billy scrapped the project, he’s no longer doing it. The reason? Simply because he doesn’t want to go back to the past.

The Hollywood Reporter, reports.

While it is a bummer, that he changed his mind, it is understandable. He did have a difficult life and him writing about the past, would only come back to haunt him. He doesn’t want that.

If he wanted to write a book, he could have just focused on the music only, leaving his personal life out of it. Oh well, it’s a good idea to keep your life private and not make your life for the whole world to see.

I just hope Billy gets well. I want him to get back into making music, go on tour with Elton John and maybe even release a new studio album. He needs to concentrate on the music.

DVD Review: Lemmy

So today, I’ve been watching the “Lemmy” movie, that I picked up on DVD a few days ago. I never bought any Motorhead albums, but I’ve heard so many songs on the radio of course. After seeing this DVD, really makes me want to start collecting Motorhead albums.

This movie, “Lemmy”, is so special. It’s one of the best music documentaries I’ve ever seen. Once you see the film, you’ll understand Lemmy Kilmister as a musician and as a person, 100%. With Lemmy’s image, the way he dresses and looks, he maybe kind of scary and mean looking, but in reality, he’s actually one of the friendliest musicians you could ever meet. Plus, Lemmy Kilmister isn’t the type of guy that would live in a private mansion, hire people to take care of him around the house, or have bodyguards everywhere he goes. He also doesn’t travel around in limo’s.

The truth about Lemmy is that he doesn’t live in a very big house. He lives in Los Angeles currently. He lives alone. His house is actually a mess, he doesn’t clean. He cooks his own food as well. Things he likes to do other than music, he likes to collect things. He also plays video games, casino slot machines and watches cartoons. Yes, they actually showed footage of Lemmy watching cartoons several times in the documentary.

The life of Lemmy Kilmister, he is just a regular guy keeping things casual, like all of us. He’s a very rich guy, yes, but when you watch this movie, you’ll know that he doesn’t live his life that way. If he wants to go to a bar to have a few drinks, he’ll go by himself. If he wants to go shopping for music at record stores, he’ll go.

I respect Motorhead. Do you know how a lot of legendary bands like the Rolling Stones, Zeppelin, the Who, etc. Break up and have long hiatus’s in between albums? Not Motorhead. They released their debut album in 1975 and the band kept going to this day, all the way up to their new album, “The World Is Yours” that they just released not too long ago, with no breaks in between. Motorhead kept releasing a new album year after year.

This was a very nice documentary, and it showed some deep insight about Lemmy Kilmister that you would never know about. He’s willing to meet fans in public everywhere he goes, so he treats his fans good. There are too many bonus extras on the disc, there’s a lot to go through. There’s live concert footage of Motorhead and extra footage from the documentary that was taken out of the movie itself.

If you’re a fan of music, you don’t have to be a fan of Motorhead to see this movie. The point of this movie is that this film wants to introduce Lemmy and Motorhead to newer fans of today’s generation. If you’re a longtime Motorhead fan, anyway, then this is a must see for you definitely, but I suggest new fans to check it out too. It’s a shame that Motorhead haven’t been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yet, when they deserve that more than any other band out there.

The documentary includes other interviews with other famous rock stars such as Dave Grohl, Ozzy, Steve Vai, Alice Cooper, Slash, Duff McKagan, etc. Billy Bob Thornton has an interview with Lemmy in the documentary ’cause Billy Bob is friends with Lemmy.

This was a very good DVD and worth the purchase. It’s kind of expensive, but I was just dying to see this movie so I bought it anyway, but it’s worth it. I don’t see Lemmy ever retiring Motorhead. He’ll keep the band going until the day he dies, I’m sure. Pick up this on DVD or Blu Ray soon. You’ll love it too. It’s inspiring.

Thought: Chris Brown breaking a window at “Good Morning America”…

I’m sure people want to know my thoughts on Chris Brown losing his temper again. Breaking a window and going mad at the “Good Morning America” studios, in his dressing room there. It’s obvious the law didn’t teach him anything. He’s going to be the same madman no matter how much help he gets. This is further proof that he will beat up someone again. Even worse, he could have beaten up that woman who interviewed him at “Good Morning America”, if he wanted to. Think about why he went back to the dressing room after the interview. He knows he couldn’t lay a hand on her, the interviewer.

Of course, nobody pressed charges on him and I’m sure that won’t violate his probation. That is what fame does to people. They get away with everything. The guy needs to be locked up.

What’s even more messed up, is that Chris Brown still has a lot of die hard fans that will support him, no matter what. Those idiot fans of his need to get out of their fantasy worlds and realize that their hero is not to be supported. They are supporting a woman beater. They must think beating women is okay.

Report: Alan Paul’s “Big In China” book to be made into a movie, possibly directed by Ivan Reitman???

Most people may have never heard of this man, but Alan Paul, is an American journalist who writes for different music magazines. He mostly writes for, Guitar World, magazine.

Alan Paul is a blues musician, who lived over in Beijing, China for a while. While there, he formed a blues band named, Woodie Alan. The band, Woodie Alan, become famous over in China. Alan Paul, wrote his experiences over there in a memoir, as you see in the pic above. The book is now out in stores everywhere I believe. Ivan Reitman’s “Montecito Pictures”, just acquired the rights to make the book into a major motion picture. The film could possibly be directed by, Ivan Reitman himself.

The Hollywood Reporter, reports.

This book sounds very interesting to me! I’ll be going to the mall tomorrow, and I’ll probably take a walk over to “Barnes & Noble’, and I’ll look for this book. I’m interested in reading it.

If you don’t know who Alan Paul is, watch the videos below. I think he’ll definitely become more well known once this film hits theaters.

Report: Liam Gallagher still hates his own brother, Noel…

Ever since Oasis’s break up a few years ago, Liam Gallagher still holds a negative grudge against his own brother, Noel. Liam Gallagher formed a new band called, Beady Eye. When asked if Liam will perform classic Oasis songs at Beady Eye concerts, Liam replied that it will never happen. He says he doesn’t want to go backwards with Oasis and wants to move forward. They don’t feel comfortable playing other people’s music when they could make their own (Noel Gallagher wrote most Oasis songs, Liam just sang them).

Liam is also not the forgive and forget type. He will not accept Noel’s apology if he was ever asked for one. He also said there will never be an Oasis reunion.

Read the full interview, here.

Liam will get bugged to death about the Oasis reunion for the rest of his life now. I think Noel and Liam will one day, bury the hatchet. That’s what family is all about. They’ll get over it.

RIP: Randy Rhoads

29 years ago today, the world of music lost one of the greatest guitarists of all times, Randy Rhoads. He was obviously Ozzy’s best guitarist. Ozzy can have other guitar players but no one can top Randy, ever. If Randy was still alive today, I’m sure he would still be playing with Ozzy. Ozzy wouldn’t let Randy go if he was still with us, because, Ozzy loved Randy too much as we all know. The Randy Rhoads era of Ozzy’s career has always been my favorite as well. Randy, a true guitar legend.

Report: Tom Hanks will play Capt. Richard Phillips for Somali Pirate Saga…

The controversial story of the, Maersk Alabama, cargo ship hijacked by Somali Pirates in April of 2009, have made huge in the news. Sony Pictures is finally moving forward with the big screen movie based on this story. Look like Tom Hanks have said “yes” to starring as Capt. Richard Phillips for the role.

What do you think? Do you like Tom as Capt. Phillips? Tom would have to gain a little more weight. He would also have to grow a beard and mustache to match Capt. Phillips look. The makeup and hairstylists can make Tom look like Capt. Phillips easily. Knowing how great of an actor Tom Hanks is, Hanks can easily make his speaking voice sound exactly like Capt. Phillips’s speaking voice. I’m pretty sure Tom will nail this role with no problem.

I actually like Tom as Capt. Phillips and it’s a good choice!

See the full story here at, Deadline.

Who are they going to get for Andrea Phillips, Richard’s wife? They probably will get a big name actress for her too, just don’t get Julia Roberts please, anybody but her.

Scams in the music business…

I know almost all bands & solo music artists want to be successful in their careers and make it to the next level. When you want to become successful and try do that over the internet, that’s when you become a huge target of scams. Yes, there are scams in the music business just like how you can get scammed out of dating sites, the lottery tickets, and everywhere else.

When you want to get gig opportunities, record deals, publishing deals, touring, etc. You have to be very careful of every move you make in the music business. You can’t accept every offer that is thrown in your face.

You have to watch out for Afton Live and other scams on the internet. They are all over the place. You need to learn how to tell which online company is a scam or what is legit. You have to watch for “red flags” and not trust everything you see and read online.

There is this band in facebook, that I know very well. I will not name this band…but this nameless band actually fell for this Afton Live thing and they actually booked the show with them at Red Square, in Albany later this Spring.

Most professional musicians online would immediately know that Afton Live is a scam. I’ve tried to tell this “nameless band” this company is a pay to play scam but this band wouldn’t even listen to me. They kept defending this Afton Live company and siding with them. They actually think it’s a good opportunity when I’ve tried to warn them that company is not to be trusted. They wouldn’t cancel out of the show, no matter what I said about Afton Live, and they stayed committed to playing, the Red Square gig. They think Afton Live is a good opportunity to get their feet in the door at Red Square.

I thought I warned people about this company, last year.

Why did Red Square agree to work with Afton Live? Because this scam helps the venue make some money. That’s all they care about. The owners of Red Square won’t care if bands get scammed out of this. They are not responsible for the scammed tickets that fans bought off of Afton Live’s website. I am watching facebook and I’m seeing at least 50 people have bought tickets off the Afton Live website, to go see this show at Red Square.

I’m just concerned for this band that they are going to get screwed out of this very badly. They would come home very disappointed and angry, knowing that they might get ripped off and I was afraid of this happening for this band…but their delusional minds don’t think any of this would happen.

I did my best to bring this to their attention but like I said, they were 100% committed to this show. So I’m like, okay, I’ll just give up and let them have their show. If something bad happens out of it, then it’s their own fault that they didn’t listen to me in the first place. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s going to happen out of it myself.

I’m already feeling bad for all those people buying those tickets off of Afton Live, they are about ready to get ripped off, big time, and they don’t realize it’s a scam. The money is going to that company, Afton Live, instead of the venue. That’s the sad part about it. They are not going to get that money back even if they want it.

At least, I tried to help this band. That was all I did was to save them from possibly getting screwed and ripped off, so I give up. Bands are really crazy and nuts, sometimes, I tell ya.

Report: Phil Collins explains his retirement, wants to spend more time with kids…

Ever since Phil Collins announced his retirement from music for good, the media and fans have speculated all kinds of nasty rumors on why he is quitting. Rumors like he is having health problems, hearing loss, etc. He also shoots down rumors that he is not quitting music because of bad press, and shoots down the Alamo rumors.

The real reason, he wants to spend time with his kids and family. Read Phil’s message, here.

Well, there you have it. Phil is perfectly fine, he doesn’t have health problems or hearing loss, he just wants to spend time with his family.

I think he’s full of crock though, I think he’ll be back. Maybe not this soon, but you know he’s lying.

Report: Primus returns with new album and tour…

Primus has reunited for a short tour and new album. While it’s disappointing that Primus won’t be playing anywhere near the Capital District area, a new album is good news, though. I’m a Primus fan, I love their music as well. Primus will be releasing a new studio album this Summer, not yet titled, and a tour to support it. They will be one of the headlining acts at this year’s Bonnaroo.

See the news, here.
