Report: Ringo Starr tells the Vatican to shut the hell up!!!

The Vatican accused the Beatles of being satanic or in other words, devil worshippers. The Vatican may have felt bad and apologized to the Beatles for it, well look like their apology from the Beatles is not accepted, because Ringo Starr just told them that they have other things to talk about than the Beatltes.  In short, it’s just a polite way of telling them to shut the hell up.

BREAKING NEWS: Kevin Eubanks leaving Jay Leno for good…

Just not too long ago, it was announced that Kevin Eubanks have planned to leave the Jay Leno show, but wasn’t sure if he was going to leave for a hiatus or if it will be for good. Well, Kevin himself announced on “The Tonight Show”, saying straight to Jay’s face that he’s definitely leaving for good for a full time music career.

Eh? Don’t worry folks. Kevin WILL be back on “The Tonight Show” as a musical guest to perform a song off his upcoming album when he puts one out. He won’t be back on with the “Tonight Show” band, but maybe with Kevin’s new band that he will probably form in the future. You betcha that will be the first place Kevin will go to plug in his upcoming album whenever he does one.

He is a talented guitar player and he does deserve better than the Jay Leno show. Looking forward to seeing what he has planned for his music career.

Report: Lady Gaga claims she’s celibate, but I’m not buying it…

Do you think a crazy woman like Lady Gaga loves to party hard and have lots of sex? Think again. She revealed to the public that she’s not that type of woman at all. She reveals that she doesn’t have sex at all and prefers to stay single for most of her life.

While she does bring up a lot of valid points, somehow I think she’s lying about not having sex and wanting to stay single. I do agree with her on most things though. Is that you don’t need to be in a rush to get married, have sex and have kids. It is not a pathetic way of living to stay single for most of your life. If that’s how you want to live your life by choice, that’s fine, go for it. Live your life how you want to. There is more to life than just sex ’cause there is too many people obsessed with sex these days.

I’m still single by choice. I can go out and get myself a nice lady anytime, but I’m happy the way I am.

Playing guitar and working out is pretty much all I want to do. A relationship will take all that time away from ya. If people call you pathetic for living that way, who cares what other people think. Live life and be happy.

Kids are in such a rush to get married, get laid and have kids these days. That’s not where I want to be. All this soap opera and drama in relationships gives me a big headache anyways,  it would be a nightmare for me. I’ll settle down in a relationship with a woman when the time is right and whenever the right person comes along.

Thought: Erin Harkes on her way to the big time???

Erin Harkes is getting so much feedback on her Jimmy Fallon performance. Not just locally, she’s getting feedback everywhere. If this keeps the buzz going then maybe Erin can be a regular performer on Jimmy Fallon with the Fallon Angels or she could perform on Jimmy Fallon as a solo acoustic act. The members of the Fallon Angels looked good together and sounded good. Good chemistry with all members. They were actually pretty tight too. Don’t know if the Fallon Angels will become an actual band but it would be cool if it actually happened. I’ve been seeing the talent in Erin for years. I shared the stage with her once at Valentine’s in Albany. Either the Fallon Angels could get a record deal or maybe Erin herself can get signed as a solo artist. I’m pretty sure she would rather play her own original music on Jimmy Fallon sometime but who knows, maybe she will get on the show again. Jimmy knows who she is now. This is a lifelong thing to remember for the rest of her life. I feel that bigger things will happen to her after this. Maybe even a major label recording contract?

I was very surprised to see her on TV myself and couldn’t believe it was actually her. We need more Albany musicians doing stuff like this. This is HOW you go forward in your career, and get to that “next level’. 🙂

Edit to add: You see, this is why I’m a huge fan of Jimmy Fallon’s show. He likes audience participation! Do you think Jay Leno, David Letterman or Conan O’ Brien would do something like this for local musicians? HELL NO!!!! This is why Jimmy is the man. He’s a music lover like the rest of us.

Report: Slash shows Jay Leno that he’s on Team Coco…

Last night on Jay Leno, Slash was the special musical guest for his solo career, with Wolfmother singing for him for the song, “By The Sword” which you can get on Slash’s new solo record, out now! TMZ is the first to notice Slash wearing the “I’m With Coco” pin on his shirt.

I’m sure all the Coco fans like myself, would know that Slash is very good friends with Conan O’ Brien. Slash has appeared on Conan’s show plenty of times in the past. I’m pretty sure Jay noticed the pin on Slash’s shirt right away, I’m sure Jay didn’t pay much attention to it, lol!

Nice to see Slash on Team Coco. A way to piss Jay off!

I also want to hear Slash’s new solo record. I’ll get it from Itunes when I get extra cash. I really liked his new song, “By The Sword”, it’s a really amazing tune and tight. Wolfmother is a great band, I always dug them!

Speaking of Conan O’ Brien, he is having an entertaining feud with teen pop star, Justin Bieber in Twitter. It’s actually funny stuff. Are they enemies or just doing it for a laugh? I vote they are just having fun and fooling around.

Is this to start up the hype that Justin Bieber could be Conan’s first musical guest when Coco makes his debut on FOX later this year? Could be.

I would admit that Justin Bieber is actually not a bad singer. I actually like that song, “Baby” ft. Ludacris. It’s catchy, and you can actually listen to it. I wouldn’t buy Justin’s album, ever…but I do like that one radio hit, “Baby”. That one song is actually pretty cool. Seriously.

Report: Soundgarden, Lady Gaga and Green Day to headline Lollapalooza…

This year’s Lollapalooza is HUGE. Very impressive lineup. I’m liking it a lot. Other than Soundgarden being one of the headliners, Lady Gaga and Green Day will also headline. Other surprising acts that made the lineup: Phoenix, Social Distortion, Wolfmother, Metric and Erykha Badu.

While this year’s line up is very impressive, Green Day doesn’t fit the bill. Green Day is a bad choice. Soundgarden, Lady Gaga, and Green Day just doesn’t ring. Soundgarden and Lady Gaga is good, but get Green Day the hell off. I don’t like Green Day anymore.

I would rather have Alice In Chains be Green Day’s replacement.

The question you have to ask is, why is Lady Gaga headlining a rock music festival when she’s not rock, it’s pop? Well, if you listen to Lady Gaga’s songs, they do have an arena rock vibe to them. Any rock n’ roll band can cover her songs and make them rock songs. Lady Gaga’s music has a lot of rock influence. She’s very tight and energetic. I think she fits the bill perfectly.

Anyways, when will local act, Phantogram, ever get on a Lollapalooza slot? I can definitely see Phantogram getting booked for Lollapalooza one day and it would be great for them. I’m sure they will make it there if we can somehow get Phantogram’s music to Perry Ferrell’s attention. I believe Perry himself books all the bands since it’s his festival.

Edit to add: Now that Erykha Badu is booked for Lollapalooza this year, you also gotta wonder if she will strip naked on stage when she performs her new song “Window Seat” there. Will Perry Ferrell allow that? I think he would. 🙂 Knowing how crazy Perry really is and that man loves to party!

Thought: Shouldn’t Tom Morello be thanked for the Soundgarden reunion?

Ever since the shocking announcement of the official Soundgarden reunion by Chris Cornell, I couldn’t believe, Tom Morello was ignored for this. Shouldn’t people be thanking him for the Soundgarden reunion? Remember, it was Tom Morello that made the Soundgarden reunion happen. Tom brought the Soundgarden guys out to the Crocodile Cafe with Tad fronting. That got Chris Cornell into wanting to rejoin Soundgarden again and it happened. It actually fucking happened.

Some people may not like the band Audioslave, but they should be respected. Audioslave was responsible for bringing RATM and Soundgarden back to the music industry. Think about it. If it wasn’t for Tom Morello and Audioslave, then the reunions of RATM and Soundgarden would have never happened. If it wasn’t for Tom, Soundgarden would still be denying reunion rumours to this day.

Now that Soundgarden is finally back and headlining Lollapalooza, Tom should be a musical hero for this. I’m pretty sure Tom is all cool with not being with Audioslave anymore and Soundgarden being back instead ’cause Tom is a huge Soundgarden fan himself. He wanted that Soundgarden reunion to happen himself and he made it happen. Tom did it for us.

Tom deserves all the support from everyone for this, so at least give him some respect that he deserves even if you’re not into RATM or Audioslave. Thank YOU TOM!!!! 🙂

Erykah Badu is innocent, her nude in video is NOT actually her…

Erykah Badu is a jazz music artist that is in the middle of some controversy here. She released a new video with a new song called, “Window Seat”. Which is about a woman that walks in the streets of a city, then she is murdered at the end of it naked. A lot of people thought the video was actually Erykah Badu herself, but if you not-so intelligent people watch the video closely, the woman stripping as she’s walking is not actually her. It’s actually a stunt double or something. You don’t see the real Erykah until the very end of the video right after the woman is shot.

This is a nice way to get your “music” out there. It may be “dark” and “crazy”, but what ever it takes to get your tunes out, even if it means getting charged by law enforcement, do whatever it takes.

I think there is a political message in the song. I’m not into Erykah Badu’s music that much, but this is a very nice tune. I actually like it. I think she is not guilty of this charge. It’s a cool video, that sends a nice message with a shock at the end of it.

Thought: Why I love Phish so much…

I’m sure some would wonder why I love that band Phish, which are known as a hippy acid rock jam band. I know most Phish fans do drugs and drink, but I don’t need to do any of that stuff to enjoy their music. Do I enjoy their songwriting skills? Yes, they write pretty good stuff in the studio…but what I’m most impressed about with this band is the way they play their live shows. I’ve seen so much live music over the years. In today’s music, no live performer out there can perform live better than Phish can, period.

They are not really seen as a studio band. They are seen as a live band. That’s what people are used to seeing Phish as. So many people compare Phish to the Grateful Dead, but I disagree. They don’t sound like each other at all. What I admire about Phish’s live playing is that they know how to control an audience. Their instruments speak to their audience. They can have the power to control an audience how they please just by playing on stage. Trey’s magical guitar leads blaring out in far away places, just makes you want to dance to them. A band like Phish they can get on stage and play as long as they want, all night if they wanted to. They would jam on every song for like 30 or 40 minutes each, and after the gig, they act like it was an easy thing to do and it was nothing.

When ever I go to a Phish show, they make you feel like it’s your second home. They really make you feel part of the band. The band shows that they do it for the fans and not for themselves. Them coming back is not about ego and money at all. They came back ’cause their fans wanted them back. A band like Phish, you don’t even have to know their songs well by heart just to see them live, just go there and enjoy the show. Just for the enjoyment of feeling like home with the band. You’re looking at future, Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famers here.

Phish is indeed, the greatest live performers on this planet. Trey Anastasio may not be a trained vocalist, he may not be that great of a singer, true, but in jam band music, you don’t even need to sing good. They just did it. Just sang with no musical training. In jam band music, fans don’t really worry about the vocals anyways. They just want to hear some long guitar jams. That’s what jam band is all about.

Phish will be playing two nights of SPAC in Saratoga Springs this Summer, and I’m thinking of going to both of them. Probably will. If I go, I’ll probably get lawn tickets, not inside.
