Report: The Cranberries are returning to the music business…

Over the years there has been many former iconic bands reforming and reuniting, now you can add the Cranberries to the list. The Cranberries, an iconic Irish band that were well known from the early 90’s with such hits like “Zombie”, “Linger”, and “Dreams” are returning for a new tour. The band plans to play all their hits on their tour and they will play all the songs from Dolores O’ Riordan’s solo career.

They didn’t say whether or not they will go back into the studio to record new original songs, but since the band said they are moving forward, a new Cranberries album is a possibility.

Report: Joan Jett sues the Runaways bassist, Jackie Fox, for blocking film of biopic movie…

Joan Jett has filed a lawsuit against former, Runaways bassist, Jackie Fox. Although Jackie was a member of the Runaways for a couple of years in the 70’s, she wasn’t made a character in the upcoming Runaways biopic that Joan Jett is producing.

Jackie claims to own part of the trademark of the “Runaways” band name and Joan also claims she owns the band name all for herself.

More on it here:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,541744,00.html??test=faces

According to the Trademark Database on the trademark website, the band name, the Runaways, is trademarked under, Blackheart Records. That is Joan’s record label that she owns herself.

The Runaways, trademark band name used to be owned by Kim Fowley in the 70’s-80’s, but Joan must of bought band name rights later on.

Only thing though, they put the trademark band name under Joan’s record label, not her own. This means that Joan and Kenny Laguna both own the trademark to, the Runaways band name.

Don’t believe me? See for yourself…

Go here:

http://www.uspto.gov/

Click on “Trademark” and click, “Search TM Database”, it’s a place where you can look up any trademark names that are registered in this world. You can see what trademark names year is registered, the name and if it’s live or dead.

Sorry, Jackie, but you will lose and you will pay, big time. Before assuming that you own some of the trademark, do some research and get your facts straight first.

Cool Video: Teenage Casket Company returns!!!

One of my favorite unsigned bands from the UK, The Teenage Casket Company has finally returned! They are touring the UK and here’s a few videos of their recent live performances. Great to see the band back.

I’ll never forget the night when I shared the stage with this band at the Hudson Duster in Troy a couple of years back, that’s when I first discovered them.

A few videos from their performance at a music festival called Trashstock. The TCC is a band from Nottingham. Their frontman, Rob Wylde also fronts a band called Sins of America in Boston, Mass of the USA.

Cool Video: Amy Winehouse sings with the Specials at V Festival…

Amy Winehouse returned to performing live for the first time in a while after a long hiatus struggling with her personal life. She’s looking very happy in this video, looking much better and having fun again. Great to see she’s improving her life. Keep it up Amy. Go back to the studio again to record a new album, please! This is a great performance here and Amy sung really good, better than I ever heard of her before. Come back to the music business Amy, I miss you as we all do!

Thought: Did Lady Gaga steal image from Roisin Murphy???

Roisin Murphy is above, Lady Gaga below. Look at the sunglasses. Notice the similarities? Almost an exact close match. Roisin is an electronica pop star from Ireland. She says she’s been ripped off by Lady Gaga.

I’m actually with Roisin that Lady Gaga ripped her off. Just another reason to hate Lady Gaga.

My Ipod playlist so far…

So far, here’s my Ipod playlist. It’s pretty short for now, but I plan on adding and buying more songs from Itunes in the future. Plus, I’ll be adding certain favorite songs from my CD collection.

My Ipod playlist so far:

  • “Craigslist” Weird Al Yankovic
  • “Crazy Scientologist” Joe Nacco
  • “Love Me” Lunic
  • “Poker Face” Lady Gaga
  • “Now For a Then” The Velmas
  • “Old Black Dodge” Sean Rowe
  • “Don’t Look at Me Like That” Teenage Casket Company
  • “Hatred” Teenage Casket Company
  • “Down With Disease” Phish
  • “Far Away Coast” Dropkick Murphy’s
  • “Cry Over You” Fiona Joyce
  • “Gold Lion” Yeah Yeah Yeahs
  • “Outshined” Soundgarden
  • “Locomotive” Railbird

I’ll be adding much more songs to this thing all the time. It won’t just be national music, there’ll be a mix of local and unsigned bands as well.

Not a bad playlist so far.

Report: Robert Zemeckis to remake the Beatles animated movie, “Yellow Submarine” with Disney…

Disney and Robert Zemeckis are in negotiations to remake the famous Beatles movie, “Yellow Submarine”. Disney has bene quietly trying to get the rights to Zemeckis so he can have the full 16 original Beatles songs that were in the original film. The plan with the remake is that they want to make it 3D (plus I’m sure it will be CGI animated too). Disney hopes to release this around the time the Summer Olympics happen in 2012 which is on July 27th in London.

Thought: Phish fans and drugs…

At the Phish concert last Sunday night, I was amazed that everywhere you go, there were drugs all over the place. Weed, acid, you name it. People were on everything. I’m sure all Phish shows are like this, of course.

After Trey Anastasio’s drug bust in Whitehall a few years ago, when he got stuck in rehab here in Saratoga Springs, he went through a pretty long rehab journey. When he got clean and was ready to graduate, get out of rehab….I was hoping and looking forward to seeing the Phish fans to follow suit of Trey Anastasio.

I was wondering if the Phish fans were thinking the same thing…”Geez, what am I doing to myself, I should go to rehab like Trey, my hero, and get clean”.

Well, that never happened. Trey going to rehab to get clean never taught the fans anything.

While the band was playing on stage, looking at everybody in the audience, everybody definitely looked really drunk, stoned and were tripping on something.

Trey looked really clean, he didn’t look like he was on anything. He was so happy on stage, he was all smiles and so full of energy throughout most of the gig. He is a much better guitar player when he is clean and sober as well. He was on fire that night!

Trey should start giving advice to Phish fans to go to rehab like he did so they don’t end up killing themselves and Phish wouldn’t have any fans left.

You can still have a fun time and have a blast without drinking and doing drugs.

My new Ipod…

Today, I just picked up a 8GB Ipod from Best Buy. Everybody I know pretty much has one, so I figure it’s time that I would get one for myself.

I set it all up and it’s all good to go. I purchased 14 songs from Itunes from the $15 Itunes card I purchased at Best Buy along with it.

I purchased a mix of local music and national music. Just bought some of these songs: Lady Gaga “Poker Face”, Weird Al Yankovic “Craigslist”, Soundgarden “Outshined”, Phish “Down With Disease”, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, “Gold Lion”, Joe Nacco “Crazy Scientologist”, Sean Rowe “Old Black Dodge”, Lunic “Love Me”, Railbird “Locomotive”, a couple of Teenage Casket Company songs, and several more.

Itunes store can be pretty useful ’cause if I hear songs on the radio that I really like and if I don’t want to buy the full album, I could just buy that one tune.

I know I said I hated Lady Gaga many times, I still do, but I’ve said a few times in the blog that I like her one song, “Poker Face”. “Poker Face” is actually a really good song that I can listen to, but the rest of her stuff, no. I figure “Poker Face” would be a good tune to work out to, that’s why I picked that one.

Now that I think about it, I don’t have to buy Phish albums on CD at all. I can simply buy all the Phish albums from Itunes. Itunes record store is much cheaper than the record stores at the malls.

I mainly bought an Ipod so I can have some tunes to work out with. Listening to music while working out at the gym or where ever is a pretty important part of the workout. It makes you work faster and harder, gives you more energy. Music does that.

Next I need to buy an Ipod arm band, so I can just have the Ipod on my arm while I’m working out.
