Thought: About Springsteen performing Superbowl halftime…I don’t agree with it…

Does anybody feel a little weird about Springsteen doing the Superbowl this year? While I’m a huge fan of Bruce Springsteen’s music, I really don’t agree with Springsteen doing Superbowl half time. He’s too much of a legend and too huge of a star. Springsteen just had to jump at this opportunity before anyone else got it. He had plenty of huge shows in the past. I’m sure the Superbowl officials had plenty of acts on the list to perform in case Springsteen dropped out, but he’s in of course.

Give a different artist or band a chance at that opportunity.

I actually would rather see Metallica or Ac/Dc doing the Superbowl this year instead of Springsteen.

We’ve heard all of Springsteen’s music, he’s performed on TV too much too.

What about John Mellencamp, Phish, Pearl Jam, the Dave Matthews Band, Radiohead, or Neil Young?

I like Springsteen, I feel he is a little too overrated, I’ve always said I ain’t much of a fan of the E Street Band, I’m more of a fan of Springsteen’s solo acoustic work more.

Give other artists a chance at this opportunity instead of having has beens that already had opportunities like this. Of course, the Superbowl always have legendary artists every year as a ratings ploy for TV.

BREAKING NEWS: Neil E. Boyd wins “America’s Got Talent” this year…

What an unexpecting surprise! Neil E. Boyd wins “America’s Got Talent” this year, yep, he wins the million dollars and gets to headline the Las Vegas show.

I was hoping either Nuttin’ But Strings or Queen Emily would win it, but Neil E. Boyd ended up getting the win.

Neil E. Boyd is talented though. I dig opera music myself sometimes.

Report: Phish is officially reunited but for part time or full time?

Are you down with disease? Yes, that’s right. Trey Anastasio, Page McConnell, Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman are back together again to play for more shows!!! Ever since Trey Anastasio graduated from his drug treatment program here in the Capital District area, Trey immediately got busy to doing what he loves best…MUSIC!!!

Phish is booked for a three concert date at the Hampton Colisuem in Hampton, Virginia. Even more concert dates will be announced later in 2009. Does this mean that Phish has a full time world tour ahead of them? We’ll just have to wait and see!!!

The Associated Press reports:

It wouldn’t surprise me if the band came back full time. I lost count how many times they broke up and came back.

I can’t blame Trey though, he is probably doing the Phish reunion to celebrate getting out of drug rehab.

Glad he is happy again and hope he’ll stay off the drugs.

Thought: What songs will Springsteen and the E Street band perform at the Superbowl?

My predictions in order: The show kicks off with the song “Radio Nowhere” (from the album Magic), “Into the Fire” (from the album The Rising), Working On the Highway (the song has a Florida theme to it, Born In the USA), Dancing In the Dark (Born In the USA), and the performance will end with “Born In the USA” the song title track of the album to give the show a political feeling.

Listen to “Working On the Highway” below and see why it would be appropriate if they did this song. Feel free to make your predictions.

Report: Weird Al Yankovic to release new parody for Itunes on Oct. 7th…

Earlier this year, Weird Al Yankovic spoke to Billboard that he plans on releasing his new songs early exclusively to Itunes even before his new album comes out. Weird Al announced he is working on a new album this year, and it will be his first since 2006’s “Straight Outta Lynwood”.

Weird Al announced in his myspace blog that he will release a brand new parody that is considered the number one song in the country. It is obviously a parody of a recent hit song this year.

What new parody that Al Yankovic is releasing to Itunes? What band or artist is he parodying next?

See Weird Al’s myspace blog about it here:

http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=90827837&blogID=437292861

My guess:

Kid Rock “All Summer Long”

Katy Perry “I Kissed A Girl”

Metallica “The Day That Never Comes”

Report: Tommy Boy Records indie label joins the myspace hating bandwagon…

Merlin is not the only one hating the new myspace music, you can add Tommy Boy Records to the list. Tommy Boy Records is an independent label, not major, that has mostly hip hop and rap artists to it’s roster. The labels owner and founder, Tom Silverman, also said it’s going to fail and will head to “exodus”.

This is great! LOL! RIP MYSPACE!

Report: Ac/Dc to get their own video game for Rock Band…

Look like the Rock Band franchise snagged Ac/Dc to get their own music video game before Guitar Hero even got to them! Ac/Dc will release, “Ac/Dc Rock Band Track Pack” that will include 18 live tracks from their Donnington concert.

Here’s the tracklisting for their Rock Band Track Pack:

“Thunderstruck”
“Shoot To Thrill”
“Back in Black”
“Hell Ain’t a Bad Place to Be”
“Heatseeker”
“Fire Your Guns”
“Jailbreak”
“The Jack”
“Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”
“Moneytalks”
“Hells Bells”
“High Voltage”
“Whole Lotta Rosie”
“You Shook Me All Night Long”
“T.N.T.”
“Let There Be Rock”
“Highway To Hell”
“For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)”

This “Rock Band Track Pack” by Ac/Dc will be released in the US sometime in November. It will be released in Europe, Australia and New Zealand in December.

I probably won’t get this if this is going to Rock Band then. I prefer Guitar Hero more.

Report: Lars Ulrich speaks on “Death Magnetic” sound quality…

Lars Ulrich finally responded to fans complaining about the sound quality on the new Metallica album “Death Magnetic”. In fan reviews of the album, some complained that they can’t hear Rob’s bass, some say that the CD is too distorted and so on. Lars spoke with Blender magazine when asked about it.

Lars defended “Death Magnetic” sound by saying it’s no different when fans complained about the sound quality on “And Justice For All”. He goes on saying that the internet gives music listeners a voice and to be honest about bands. He then goes on saying “he can’t keep up with this shit”, clearly meaning that he doesn’t care about fan negativity toward Metallica.

He then says how he is so happy and proud that this new album “Death Magnetic” has got mostly positive feedback from the listeners. He explains that Metallica was so committed in getting the direction of the music of what Rick Rubin wanted. Rick Rubin was like a coach for the band and Metallica was doing everything Rick says. He also says that the band wanted “Death Magnetic” to be a live recording.

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again.

Fans are always looking for something new and different to complain about Metallica. Just negative people that do nothing but talk negative trash about Metallica.

But they can keep talking, the haters are part of the reason the band is so huge right now.

I find nothing wrong with the sound quality on “Death Magnetic”, it sounds great to me.

BREAKING NEWS: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band confirmed for Superbowl Halftime performance this year…

Last year, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers rocked the Superbowl half time, this year it’s gonna Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band!!! Earlier in the year, it was already reported that Springsteen is in negotiations to perform for this year’s Superbowl, look like the deal is confirmed.

Springsteen and the E Street band just finished a really long tour which is why they are able to do the Superbowl. Other than playing a few songs from the album “Magic”, I expect to hear Springsteen and the E Street Band playing mostly their greatest hits with songs such as “Born in the USA”, “Dancing the Dark”, “Murder Inc.”, “Glory Days”, etc.

Billboard reports:

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003855898

Bruce fuckin’ rules. He is probably going to be playing his most popular hits though, I don’t see him playing songs that are not played on the radio. The Superbowl officials would want fans to do dancing and go crazy.
