Phish… I don’t care what anyone thinks about them… they’re still great…

Phish is still getting a lot of haters. I can never understand why. I don’t see any reason to hate Phish. To me they’re just a band like all the others. Just doing their thing. Making music and touring.

The haters and doubters accuse this band of a lot of things… they accuse them of jerking themselves off and being arrogant. They’ve been called by every name in the book by people. They also don’t like how they get fans into drugs and all of that.

I’ve said it repeatedly that it’s not the band’s fault that they get people into drugs. That is how the hippie movement have always been. It goes way back to the 60’s. People have been doing drugs at concerts for many years. It’s called psychedelic. If you think the drugs with Phish is bad… then why don’t you check out the Grateful Dead. Fans and drugs were a lot worse with the Grateful Dead. I know that drugs are a huge problem with Phish, that can not be denied but I don’t care about the drugs, man. It’s about the music. The music is what makes Phish great.

I’ve always respected Phish as I’ve listened to their music for many years and I’ve seen them in concert a few times as well. I still respect the band.

Like I said, I see no reason to hate them at all. They’re just a band, that’s all they are. Their music is just very enjoyable to listen to.

If you want to get a good idea of what the band is all about watch their interview in the video below. It’s good stuff. They seem like nice and down to earth guys. Trey is always smiling and enjoying himself. So why the hate?

I think their new album, “Fuego” is the best album they’ve ever done. You really should check it out and give it a listen yourself. I have no problem with Phish at all.

I don’t understand why that so many people who used to be fans of the band turned their backs on them. I think jealousy is a huge part of that. Phish is getting bigger. They had a 30 year career and the band is still very popular. They still sell out shows. The psychedelic and jam band movement is still alive and well. I never turned my back on Phish. I will always be loyal to them.

Love ’em or hate ’em… Trey Anastasio is a musical genius. Phish deserves more respect for a lot of reasons.

Weird Al video no. 2… “Word Crimes”… Robin Thicke parody…

Here is Weird Al video no. 2. “Word Crimes” which is a parody of that crappy Robin Thicke song that I absolutely hate. Thankfully Weird Al made his take on the song a lot better. I enjoyed Weird Al’s version a lot. This one is a lot funnier than, “Tacky” in my opinion.

Al Yankovic is so right. If you have bad grammar and spelling on the internet, you get mocked for it.

I like how Al writes comedy songs that are based on reality and songs that people can relate to. He not only wants to entertain people with his music, he also wants to help people.

My writing and grammar may not be perfect admittedly but I have been studying and learning on my own, though.

Not everyone have to have perfect English online. A lot of people use the internet as if they are talking to you in the real world if you know what I mean.

Even the best writers don’t always have perfect English… they make mistakes too. Why do you think authors and journalists have editors???

I’m gonna get the new Weird Al album in a couple of weeks.

Weird Al’s first video for “Mandatory Fun”… “Tacky” (parody of Pharrell’s “Happy)

This was a pretty cool video, I guess. It just have several stand up comedians just dancing and singing along, that’s it. To be honest, I don’t know who most of these comedians are. The only one I know of is Jack Black, of course but I don’t know who the rest of them are.

I have noticed one thing though that is pretty inappropriate for a Weird Al video. The black lady (Aisha Tyler???) in the video who grabbed her breasts and playing with them. Doesn’t seem like a Weird Al thing to me. Most of Weird Al’s material is supposed to be family friendly and I have never seen anything dirty or sexual in Weird Al’s videos over the years. Really weird. I hope Al Yankovic will be careful with this video ’cause some might be offended and controversy might start.

I like Weird Al’s take on the song… I expected the video to be better than that. I’m glad Jack Black and Weird Al finally teamed up together, though… that was long overdue.

“Mandatory Fun” to be “Weird Al’s” final album??? It seems so…

Well “Weird Al” just said in this interview at NPR that “Mandatory Fun” could be his final album in his career. Why? It’s because his 30 year contract with the label he’s under is just about up, his longtime label Way Moby/Volcano that he have been at for more than a few decades. It doesn’t mean he’s retiring from music, though. He doesn’t plan on signing with a different label. He’s gonna continue to release music digitally. He doesn’t agree with releasing 12 songs all at once and he plans on doing things differently which is a good idea.

Listen to his interview at NPR about it.

Pharrell Williams, “Girl” brief review…

Last night, I finally gotten around to listening to Pharrell Williams’s album, “Girl” on my Ipod Touch and I must say that I was really impressed with the album. I really loved it a lot and I really mean that too. Like I repeatedly said, I’m not into rap music much but some of it I can take.

I was really impressed with this album ’cause all of these songs are catchy and very enjoyable to listen to. In most rap & hip hop music, most rap songs are written in a negative direction. You know how a lot of rappers write songs about drugs, committing crime, partying, etc. Well there’s none of that stuff on this album. The lyrics from what I heard are all very positive and happy, inspiring. You can dance to this kind of music too.

I was impressed with the whole album. Every song on it blew me away. The album was tight and passionate. This was one of the best rap/pop albums I’ve ever heard in a long time. I like this album a lot more than the Iggy Azalea album even though I like her a lot too. Pharrell is a badass. I’m a new fan. Proud to be one. Pharrell’s “Girl” is definitely one of the best albums this year and it’s pretty high up there. I’m gonna give it another listen tonight probably.

RIP: Tommy Ramone 1949 – 2014…

I’m a huge fan of the Ramones. Always have been. They’ve always been my favorite. Tommy Ramone who is a drummer and the last founding members of the Ramones have just passed away. Tommy was the big inspiration for the band as he was the one who helped them write, “Blitzkrieg Bop” and “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend” which are both killer songs.

I love the Ramones. They were a pretty serious band and took no shit. They took what they did seriously. I love how they wanted to keep all of their songs short and simple. When they play live, they don’t waste time in between songs either — they play a song one after another.

While all members of the Ramones were great, Johnny will always be my favorite, though.

RIP Tommy.

Garth Brooks finally going to Itunes after all maybe???

While Garth Brooks is going through a lot of legal trouble through his cancelled shows in Dublin, the country legend just announced a new album and world tour which is good to hear. So Garth is officially out of his so-called retirement?

Not only that, there is also a new surprise. Head on over to his website and tell me what you see…

http://www.garthbrooks.com/

There you see the word, “digital” on his website and below it you see a countdown. Is Garth’s discography of albums finally headed to Itunes???? If he’s still gonna avoid Itunes like the plague where else would he upload his music digitally? I hope he’s going to Itunes ’cause that would be cool. I would like to get his albums again. I used to collect his albums a long time ago but I think I got rid of ’em.

I like Garth’s music ’cause not only that he’s big time country, he also adds a lot of rock n’ roll into it. So he’s a mix of country rock.

He’s just one of the very few country artists that I like. Other country artists I like are Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams Sr., Clint Black and maybe a little Brooks & Dunn. I also dig a little Reba and Dolly, you know who they are. I’m not all that big on country music but I do like some of it.

Ac/Dc finishes new album but without Malcolm Young…

Brian Johnson, the frontman of Ac/Dc, reveals that the legendary rock band have finished their new album; however, they had to do it without their long time guitarist and founding member, Malcolm Young. Malcolm couldn’t play on it ’cause of his health so he had his nephew Stevie play on it instead.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ac-dc-share-new-album-details-malcolm-young-health-update-20140709

Ac/Dc with a different guitarist? That’s weird coming from Ac/Dc ’cause they never had different guitarists over the years, I believe. It has always been Angus and Malcolm doing the guitar work.

While I’m sure the band’s style and sound will remain the same, I’m sure the band’s sound will be slightly different for the new album ’cause of Malcolm’s replacement guitarist, Stevie. It’s going to be interesting to hear what the band will sound like with Stevie, a different guy. It must be hard for the boys in Ac/Dc with a new guitarist ’cause they’ve been so used to Malcolm over the years.

Look like we’re gonna see a new Ac/Dc album later this year. I predict the album will come out in the Fall/Winter???

I wish Malcolm well and looking forward to their new record. I’ve always been an Ac/Dc fan.

“Weird Al” to do AMA reddit chat on July 15th…

“Weird Al” just announced that he’s going to do an AMA Reddit chat July 15th which is the official release date for “Mandatory Fun”.

This should be a great chat. Weird Al does the best Q&A’s. Why? Because not only that he’ll give some funny and entertaining responses, he’s also very honest and smart!

This one should be an entertaining as hell chat! Can’t wait for “Mandatory Fun”.

Neil Young covers Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” with Crosby, Stills and Nash…

I’ll have to admit that this was the best thing Jimmy Fallon have done in a long time. No matter what you think of Iggy Azalea, love her or hate her, Jimmy just gave her even more exposure by covering her song. I thought Jimmy did great and so did Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Expect Iggy’s album, “The New Classic” to sell even more now. “The New Classic” by Iggy is a great album and I can’t believe I’m saying that myself. Her music really is enjoyable stuff and I’m not into rap & pop music much.
