Klingon beer will soon be sold in the US…

For the first time ever , Star Trek will launch it’s very first beer. The name of the first Star Trek beer will be called, “Warnog” which is the name of the actual Klingon beer that was seen in the TV series. No launch date has been announced yet but they said it will be out sometime later this year.

I’m not much of an alcohol drinker anymore but I gotta try this so hopefully my area will sell it. There is a beverage store here.

What’s gonna be next? Romulan Ale? Cpt. Picard’s “Earl Grey Tea”???

You can now add, “The Following” to the list of my favorite shows on TV…

Earlier this week, I just finished watching Season 1 of “The Following” starring Kevin Bacon on Netflix. The show mostly got mixed reviews but in my opinion, I think this is one of the best shows on TV.

It tells the story about this teacher/writer named Joe Carroll who becomes a serial killer. Joe Carroll is obsessed with Edgar Allan Poe and most of his killings were inspired by Poe stories/poems. Joe wants to write a fictional novel of his own so to get ideas for his novel, he puts together his own cult of serial killers so they can help put his story together. A cult where it’s a group of people who worships Joe Carroll and will do anything he says. Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) who is an FBI agent tries to catch Joe Carroll and the rest of his cult.

I think some of the story can get quite frightening and some of it can be disturbing as well. It’s more of a suspense/thriller kind of story than horror, though. The characters are good. There are good characters you want to like and there are characters you love to hate. While Joe Carroll is the main villain of the show… he is actually kind of a likable villain. Joe Carroll is entertaining as hell and he’s the reason that kept me watching. Kevin Bacon kills it with his acting like usual, I think this is his best role.

I also think this show is pretty realistic ’cause “cults” do exist in the real world and so do serial killers. I thought the writing was good. It was unpredictable and had some interesting twists and turns. Yes, there are tons of Edgar Allan Poe references all over the show.

I thought the show was quite a ride and looking forward to Season 2 but it’s not streaming for Netflix yet. I’ll have to wait for Season 2 to get on there. Season 2 should be going on Netflix pretty soon I hope ’cause the new Season 3 just started airing on TV this week, I think. Netflix is slow updating TV shows for whatever reason.

With that being said, I thought “The Following” was an excellent show and hope it stays on TV for a long time. Even though the show got mixed reviews, it’s still doing well in the ratings so I think it’ll be on TV for a while.

You all know I love scary, creepy stuff. I enjoy murder stories and serial killer fiction. Not sure why, I just do. I’ve always liked dark and scary stuff for many years ever since I was a kid. The scary stuff just inspires me.

Lupita Nyong’o from the Oscars last night…

1959680_721294857892978_322306258_n

This just came up in my facebook newsfeed. I thought it was pretty funny so I decided to share it here. Before anyone gets mad and calls me a racist… this photo is not racist. The joke is that Brad and Angie has been known to adopting kids from Africa and other countries.

Lupita is a pretty woman, don’t get me wrong but her chest was kind of uncomfortable to look at. She doesn’t have much of a cleavage to show off but I still give her credit for showing off her skin.

Last night’s Oscar awards brings up the debate of celebrity obsession in America…

The topic of “celebrity obsession” in America haven’t been that big on the internet until Ellen hosted the Oscar awards again last night. The whole internet world is all over this debate of celebrity obsession ’cause of last night. You look at facebook, political forums, blogs, entertainment sites, etc. You can see the internet world shitting on the world of fame and rich celebrities. I’ve been guilty of “celebrity obsession” myself ’cause that’s what this blog has been about over the years. Why do Americans hate on celebrities making a living for making movies? Is it out of jealousy that these celebrities are making more money than we do? Maybe that’s a small part of it.

However; though, you shouldn’t really blame these people getting rich off of making movies. Who is the real person to blame? That would be us. If you think about it a few minutes, we’re the ones keeping these celebrities out there doing what they do for a living. We’re the ones paying to go see their films by going to the theaters and buying/renting their films, that’s how they’re making their money. That’s how the movie industry stays alive ’cause we’re paying them. Sorry but that’s the truth. That’s how they get their box office numbers. We pay to go see movies, the money goes through the box office, and then the money goes to the industry to pay the film companies, crew, actors, etc. We’re the ones making these people rich and famous, ha ha! Sorry but that’s the truth. That is a small part of why we have sites like TMZ and perezhilton. I hate those gossip sites like the next person but those sites wouldn’t have came around if we weren’t helping people become rich and famous. If you don’t want celebs getting rich and famous, then we should stop paying for their work but nope, that will never happen.

I agree, though, that it’ss crazy and out of this world how these actors/actresses get paid millions just to make one film.

With that being said, Hollywood has always been this way since the 1930’s. America has always been obsessed with celebrities for decades. It’s nothing new.

Fame and fortune continues to get worse ’cause of media and gossip sites, though. Celebrity gossip is pretty big on the internet. Whenever a celeb couple gets married or if a famous actress gets pregnant… it’s all over the news. I can’t stand it myself but that’s how people make their money. If you notice on my blog, I try to stay away from celebrity gossip. I don’t concentrate on marriages, divorces and all that bullshit. My main focus is on their film projects and what they’re doing in the movies.

I hear everyone, though. It would be nice if this nation would get their minds off of celebrities and focus on what our fuckin’ President is doing to our nation. The US is about to go to war with Russia over this Ukraine stuff, we still have 4 dead Americans w/ no answers over Benghazi, and we have all kinds of crazy things going on in America. Obama is destroying our country and everybody wants to focus on celebrities. That’s kind of why I’ve been all over Obama on my blog more than the other topics ’cause I find what he is doing to our country is more important.

Back to the Oscars, I have a feeling that we’re gonna get Ellen as host again for next year since the ratings turned out decent and the popularity of that selfies pic. That’s why they had Ellen back ’cause of her popularity on twitter. I can’t stand Ellen Degeneres. It’s not because of her being lesbian is why I don’t like her — I just think she’s an annoying and stupid as hell woman. Never liked her at all.

Kev

Last night’s Oscar awards was the worst show in history… wow!!!

Man, I wish I can get my 4 hours back that I wasted watching the horrendous Oscar award show last night. Last night’s show was really bad… all the way through.

Ellen Degeneres was a horrible host. She wasn’t funny as she tries to be. She was actually annoying as hell. The pizza delivery and the group selfie w/ celebs? That part when Ellen kept going on and on about her group selfie with those stars going viral on twitter… I’m like, “Wow, Ellen, shut the fuck up, no one cares.”. Even the celebs in the audience was looking bored. I did laugh at one part; however, when Ellen gave Harrison Ford a pizza slice… she forgot to give him a napkin so Harrison tapped her on the shoulder and asked her for one. Harrison is the shit!

I was disappointed in the Oscar winner choices too. Sandra Bullock didn’t win, Jennifer Lawrence didn’t win… wtf? Jonah Hill and Leo didn’t even win either. It was no surprise that “12 Years A Slave” was gonna get BEST PICTURE. I’m glad they gave Alfonso Cuaron the director for “Gravity” an award but they just did that ’cause “Gravity” wasn’t gonna get BEST PICTURE.

A lot of acceptance speeches were pretty bad too especially Matt McConaughey who had to bring “god” into helping him get up there. How was that an inspiring and moving speech? God didn’t help him get up there. I hate when people win awards at award shows they think god got them up there. Hard work and talent, got them up there. God didn’t do that for ya. It’s a load of crock. Why did McConaughey’s speech had to turn into the Joel Osteen show?

The musical performances weren’t that great either. Even U2 and Pink were pretty bad. Same with Bette Midler.

The camera and production crew seemed pretty amateurish and they cut off the applause during the “In Memoriam” segment. Usually during the “In Memoriam” segment there are people clapping during it. They did a little bit but it was cut off due to technical difficulties, I think?

The only positive I can give about the Oscars last night was that Bill Murray gave a shout-out to Harold Ramis as he was presenting an award. That wasn’t on the teleprompter… he just ad-libbed it in there. That was very cool! That was probably the best thing that happened last night but other than that… the whole show was garbage.

I don’t know if I’ll continue to watch the Oscars. The Oscars seem to be getting worse each year too. It’s no different than other award shows now.

Kev

I think “Gravity” WILL be the Best Picture winner at the Oscars tomorrow night…

So “The Oscars” is tomorrow night. Yes, I will probably end up watching but it’s easy to predict this year’s “Best Picture” winner even though they try to make it look tough to predict. As soon as I finished watching the movie, “Gravity” after I’ve seen it in theaters… my first thought was, “Gravity’s going to win Best Picture”. “Gravity” really is a beautiful film. Finally, a science fiction movie that is realistic. If you haven’t seen it yet, I would suggest you check it out as soon as possible. The film is on DVD/BluRay. Give it a rent or buy it. I’m planning to get my own copy of the film “Gravity” on BluRay sometime next week. I’m also hoping Sandra Bullock will win another Oscar for her role in “Gravity”.

I also think Jennifer Lawrence will win her second Oscar for her role in “American Hustle”. “American Hustle” was an amazing film too.

I haven’t seen”12 Years A Slave” yet so I will wait for rental on that one.

Hopefully, it’ll be a good Oscar awards show tomorrow night and the winners go to the right people.

Thoughts on Alec Baldwin…

After announcing that Alec Baldwin claimed he’s done with “public life”, he has agreed to special guest on “Law & Order: SVU” to play a journalist after complaining about the media.

http://www.syracuse.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2014/02/alec_baldwin_law_order_svu_newspaper_reporter.html

I used to think Alec Baldwin was a bad guy like everyone else but after thinking about it after a while, I’ll take that back and say that Baldwin is actually a really good “man” who is largely misunderstood by the public. Alec didn’t exactly say he was done w/ “public life” completely. He didn’t exactly announce “retirement” from show business. I think a lot of people are taking his “public life” statements out of context.

I think he made a clear point that he was going to focus on acting and not be a celebrity. Meaning, that he’s done w/ interviews with the press, appearances on talk shows, etc. That’s what he was referring to, I think. Alec is not a bad guy that’s how the media is making him out to be.

Alec has continuous confrontations with the paparazzi ’cause he’s getting sick of them. He wants his privacy and he just wants to be left alone like any celeb would, ya know? I actually like it when celebs fight back at the paps. The paps are losers who need to find a real job. He gets ridiculed and mocked by the media ’cause they exploit the guy for ratings ’cause of his popularity with “30 Rock”.

No matter what you think of Alec, he is a talented actor. I liked him in the movies. I liked his roles in “Glengarry Glen Ross”, “The Hunt For the Red October”, “Beetlejuice” and others. I wasn’t much of a “30 Rock” fan but maybe I’ll start watching it on Netflix sometime.

I may not like Alec’s liberal politics but he seems like a good man and he’s a talented guy. I really mean this too. He is just misunderstood, that’s all.

I give him credit about his thoughts on the media ’cause what he says is the truth. Today’s media is garbage. All the media does is make celebs look bad. That’s why I hate TMZ. That’s what these assholes are paid to do. That’s how they make their money.

I can’t blame him for being done w/ “public life”. You can tell that Alec hates “fame”. He doesn’t care for it. He is just a regular guy who wants to work. I do feel sorry for the guy, though. It is disgusting how the media puts famous people to shame. They don’t deserve it. Celebs deserve to be treated the same way we all like to be treated. They’re human, no different than us.

Why “House of Cards” is so great…

Last night, I finished the final two episodes of “House of Cards – Season 2” and here is a brief review without any spoilers.

The reason why this show is so great is for a lot of reasons. Good acting, good writing, and most importantly — it’s the show’s unpredictability that keeps us watching. This is another one of those shows who don’t care what the viewers think — they’re gonna upset you. Lets say if you like a character and he/she could get killed off anytime, unexpectedly. Plus, this show has the coolest music theme for the opening intro.

Another reason people kept watching is Frank Underwood. He maybe a pretty shady and powerful politician much like Obama but Frank Underwood is pretty like-able. The show is mostly about government corruption. A lot of the things that goes on in this show is pretty similar to what happens in politics in real life, that’s probably another reason this show is addicting. The acting of the cast is very well-done. While Kevin Spacey kills it… everyone else does a great job too like Kate Mara, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly (who plays Doug Stamper), etc.

This season had a few shockers. Usually in TV drama shows, they usually save the big shockers for the end of the season but with this show, the big shockers can happen at anytime. It didn’t matter if it was in the beginning of the show, the middle or the end… something big is gonna happen. Season 2 have more character development… you get to know more about each character this season than the last season. “Season 2” was very very good, better than Season 1. I’m sure “Season 3” will be even better and already looking forward to “Season 3”.

I can see this show being around for a long while… hopefully it’ll last for about 7 – 8 seasons, maybe more.

I always knew that Kevin Spacey is a great actor. I’ve been watching him in movies for years and I think this is his best role.

If you haven’t started this show yet, I suggest you get on it, right now. You would see why President Obama likes it so much.

When does watching a lot of Netflix become binge worthy???

Binge watching TV shows is nothing new. Binge watching TV shows have been around for years even before Netflix. Before Netflix, binge watching TV shows used to be done through DVD sets. Before DVD, binge watching TV shows was done through marathons on TV.

The “House of Cards” TV show is bringing up the topic of binge watching online. Why? Simply because “House of Cards” is binge watchable and addicting as hell.

Check out this interesting article/blog on “binge watching”, here.

I’ll have to confess that I’m pretty guilty of binge watching on Netflix. I binged watch quite a bit of shows on Netflix: “Lost”, “24”, “Sons of Anarchy”, the original “Star Trek”, “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and I’m currently watching, “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”. I had to take a break from “Star Trek: DS9” so I can watch the new season of “House of Cards”.

I’ve also binged watched shows on DVD like “Game of Thrones” and “Dexter”.

I would usually watch 3 to 4 episodes a night… sometimes a lot more depending on how addicting the show gets.

I hate cable TV. I don’t watch much cable TV much anymore… I just use Netflix as a good substitute ’cause Netflix is way better than TV. There are only a few shows I like to watch on cable TV.

It’s interesting how addicting Netflix really is. Why is it addicting? It’s because you can watch anything of your choosing at any time you want. Plus, there are all kinds of cool stuff to watch on Netflix. All kinds of great TV shows, movies, documentaries, indie films, crappy b-movies, etc.

I’ve been watching Netflix more than playing video games on the PS3 admittedly.

Yeah, I should cut down on the binge watching and should focus on guitar playing (which I have been doing a lot of that too) but should we feel guilty of “binge” watching? No. Not at all. Like they all say, you can only live once… just once… so live your life the best as possible and the way you want to. Watch all the good stuff before you die. Nothing wrong with it.

Watching TV shows, movies, and playing video games maybe a lazy way to live life, sure but it helps you think and gets your mind off everything else in life. You’re alone and that’s all matters. Good way to relax and focus.

I’m NOT 100% lazy, though, like some accuse me of. I do get out of the house often. I do get my exercise on like go to the gym and do cardio so I’m all good.

Can’t wait for “House of Cards – Season 2”!!!

1899837_667646106591492_884547335_o

I like most holidays but Valentine’s Day is my least favorite holiday like most singles. For once, I look forward to Valentine’s Day ’cause that’s the day when “House of Cards – Season 2” will arrive on Netflix. So on that day, Feb. 14th, I’ll be watching “House of Cards”.

It really is a great show, guys. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch Season 1 before Season 2, though. Frank Underwood is a badass. “House of Cards” was Netflix’s first original TV show and already it’s a big hit. As soon as I saw the first episode, I was immediately hooked like everyone else. It’s an addicting show. I’m sure Season 2 will be just as great.

This is one of the best shows on television for sure other than “Breaking Bad”, “Sons of Anarchy”, and “Dexter”. I don’t watch a lot of cable TV. There’s only a few shows that I like to watch. You really should check out, “House of Cards”. Awesome show. Good cast, good writing and just entertaining as hell!
