Report: Chinese Democracy to be released exclusively to either Wal-Mart or Best Buy???

Look like the long awaited album “Chinese Democracy” may see the light of day this year after all. The band Guns N’ Roses is currently in negotiations to release the album through either Wal-Mart or Best Buy.

Billboard reports:

The band would be insane if they release it through Wal-Mart, they should definitely release it through Best Buy. Wal-Mart is not that popular of a store and “Chinese Democracy” wouldn’t sell well through Wal-Mart. Best Buy is the way to go in my opinion. I hope Axl lets Best Buy release it because America is thirsty for our Dr. Pepper.

Hurry up Axl! 2008 is almost over….

CD Review: The Sword “Gods of the Earth”…

I would say that The Sword is one of the best metal bands to ever come out in years. The Sword is a metal band from Austin, Texas. They have two albums out now titled “Age of Winters” and “Gods of the Earth”. Both albums are pretty much songs about medieval knights, fantasy stories and fairytales. The band has a deep and dark sound with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, throw in a little mix of Led Zeppelin as well.

This is the way true metal is supposed to sound like. Metal don’t always have to be really low tuned guitars and screaming vocals throughout an entire song, there is none of that in The Sword. The Sword is pretty much a new band as they haven’t been around for that long, but they definitely do have a 70’s classic metal sound. The singer for the Sword sings a little bit like Ozzy, and you can compare the guitar playing to Tony Iommi and Jimmy Page.

It was obvious that Ozzy Osbourne himself were going to pick up on this band soon, because The Sword played their first Ozzfest this year August 9th, I’m sure the Sword reminded Ozzy from his Black Sabbath days which is why they were booked to Ozzfest to begin with. The Sword is an amazing band, I would love to see them live myself. This is a true heavy metal band, it’s the way today’s metal music is supposed to sound like. Not all that phony nu-metal shit.

Their new album “Gods of the Earth” is by far, the best album I’ve ever purchased in 2008, it is tight, aggressive. This band has something going, they are rising. They are a small indie band for now, but I am feeeling this band will get huge in no time. Give this band more time, and the Sword will become the next Metallica. This band proved that metal don’t need to be about screaming and growling.

Score for The Sword’s “Gods of the Earth” = **** (4 stars as in excellent)

Sounds like a great time and a total blast. That be cool if Led Zeppelin can come up with something like that.

Will any Pink Floyd members actually be on that thing too? Will David Gilmour himself or Roger Waters himself be on the cruise to party with Pink Floyd fans? It be cool but I doubt it.

I don’t know if I’ll watch this or not, I’ll be in San Diego around that time on Aug. 24th. I will try to watch it at my brother’s apartment in San Diego if I’m not out doing fun stuff, if I don’t watch this closing ceremony at all, I’m sure the Jimmy Page and Leona Lewis performance will be all over youtube anyways.

Looking forward to seeing this.

Thought: Katy Perry stealing Jill Sobule’s spotlight…

It was Jill Sobule that started the “I Kissed A Girl” thing. Not Katy Perry. Is every female musician who writes a song about kissing women becomes such a mainstream hit?

I’m sick of the Katy Perry hype over this song. Katy Perry’s song is not a Jill Sobule cover, both songs are completely different with different lyrics and music but under the same title. Katy Perry stole from Jill over this whole kissing women thing in songs.

Lets just hope Jill herself will slam Katy with a copyright infringement lawsuit because Katy stole Jill’s fame out of the song. Shame on the music industry for letting Katy release that stupid song. Jill’s song is ten times better then that piece of trash. I like Jill’s version.

Kev

Edit to add: Youtube videos of both songs so you can see…

Jill Sobule’s great song

Katy Perry’s crappy song

Thought: 5 Legendary bands/artists who deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…

So we’re talking legendary bands and artists of who haven’t yet been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that I think who deserves it.

Here are 5 that I think deserves to be inducted by now:

Metallica

(Like Metallica or not, they are one of the biggest bands in America, they’ve been around long enough that they qualify to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. They had quite a career ride, made many successful albums, they are the biggest touring bands of all time. I think it’s about time that these boys deserve it)

Nirvana

(I’m not saying this because of Kurt Cobain’s suicide, it’s a fact that Nirvana is Hall of Fame worthy. I think it would be awesome as hell seeing Dave Grohl and Krist Novaselic on stage honoring the music of Nirvana at a Hall of Fame show, these guys were one of the biggest bands in the 90’s and they changed history in the 90’s, this is why Nirvana deserves it)

Ozzy

(Black Sabbath was once inducted into the Hall of Fame, but Ozzy’s solo music wasn’t. It’s about time for the Prince of Darkness to get in, dontcha think?)

“Weird” Al Yankovic

(Call me crazy, but yes, Weird Al is hall of fame worthy. A lot of the artists that Al Yankovic parodied songs from never knew they were big and famous until Weird Al parodied their music. This man, hands down, deserves an induction. This man had quite a career ride. He’s been around since the 80’s, he does it all and he’s one of the most extremely hard working musicians out there. He’s goes on extensive long tours all year round every album he does, he has a real live band, he even writes original songs. He produces his own albums. There are so many reasons why this man deserves it. He is a legend and an icon)

Pantera

(I’m a 100% sure this band is gonna get an induction down the road, it wouldn’t surprise me if this happened at the next Hall of Fame show)
