Thought: Myspace music is not good for your music and the music industry…seriously think about this…

The bands and musicians out there who think myspace is a good promoting tool for your music, do you really think so? I don’t. I used to think it was a great promoting tool to quickly get your name out there, but myspace does not make you well known. It may make you popular in myspace, yes, true, but it does not make you popular out in the real world.

A lot of those bands and music artists in myspace, I’m not just talking about the Capital District of Albany music, I’m talking about most every unsigned artist and band in the site, many of myspace bands/artists aren’t really popular as they make themselves out to be in myspace. A lot of them may have over 20,000 friends, over 20,000 listens in the songs, etc. but that does not make them well known in their area. I know plenty of bands around here who get jack squat for crowds and then they’re on their myspaces “thanking the fans for coming out” at the show refusing to admit that no one came.

The reason myspace doesn’t really help people get out to shows, I’ll explain. Them show listings do help, but not everyone remembers your show calendar. Not everyone remembers what date your show is on even if you shown them your show ad in their comments which the person will delete in a second anyway because most people hate band advertisements.

The fans that already do go to these bands/artists local shows in the United States already probably knew the band off the computer. But bands are never gonna get these people in myspace to their shows although they pretend to in their accounts. I’ve played at least 30 shows so far and out of all them, no one came from myspace that I sent show invitations to although they say they’ll come. Mostly the people that came to my shows were my friends, some of my blog readers and some local musicians. The rest of the crowd were just regulars of the venue that go there all the time to hang out. Not people from myspace.

The bands/artists that are “popular” for real, they dont’ even use myspace because they don’t need the internet to get where they are in music.

For the bands that are signed in a indie label or major label in myspace, many of their accounts aren’t being runned by the artists themselves, it is mostly being runned by management, reps or street team.

The reason I think myspace is damaging to the music industry is because, you don’t want myspace pulling the strings on your music for ya. You want to do it all on your own. Don’t feed myspace marketing with your music, that’s what’s damaging the industry. Seriously think about it. You want to have a good music career? Myspace isn’t gonna do it for ya. Keep making the music, take some time off the internet, get out there and do your own thing. Myspace won’t give you good music opportunities.

Think about how myspace is taking over the industry. Do you really want that for music? Myspace myspace myspace. It’s all about fucking myspace, when it should be about you.

This topic may create some big controversy with the bands/artists out there but the truth needs to be said. It should be about you and your music. The music industry does not need to help market myspace.

Report: Bands as Madonna’s “Hard Candy”…

In celebration to Madonna “Hard Candy” album, the website NME came up with a neat word game to come up with famous band names with any kind of candy in it. The album name “Hard Candy” is inspired because Madonna loves candy, can you tell with her missing teeth? I know, bad joke.

http://www.nme.com/news/friday-fun/36019

Here are my choices:

The Red Hot Sweettarters (Red Hot Chilli Peppers)

The Mars Bar Volta (Mars Volta)

Stone Temple Nerds (Stone Temple Pilots)

Rolohead (Radiohead)

Black Sabba-Reeses (Black Sabbath)

Counting Jollys (Counting Crows, Jollys taking from “Jolly Ranchers” candy)

Van Hershey’s (Van Halen)

Led Wonkas (Led Zeppelin, Wonkas taking from Willy Wonka candies)

Smashing Twizzlers (Smashing Pumpkins)

Feel free to come up with your own.

Report: Bruce Springsteen endorses Obama on his website…

Bruce Springsteen, the boss himself, wrote on his official website that he and the rest of the E Street Band support Barack Obama 100%. Springsteen wrote some insightful thoughts about Obama on his website.

Read about it here:

http://www.brucespringsteen.net/news/index.html

To be honest, I’m not liking either Clinton or Obama. I used to like Obama but his feud with Clinton is a turn off. Everyone thinks Clinton or Obama will be President, but I disagree, I’m rooting for McCain all the way. I’ve been liking McCain a lot more these days.

McCain seems to know what he’s doing while Clinton and Obama is wasting time showing their negative hatred against each other. I wish both of them would shut the hell up already. McCain has been getting out of the political picture lately ’cause of the Clinton/Obama hype, and I like that. McCain is powerful and intelligent. Clinton/Obama are a couple of pussies.

Report: Guns N’ Roses denied TV reality show rumours…

Guns N’ Roses wrote on the bands official website that they have denied reports saying they will have their own reality TV show to promote “Chinese Democracy”, they say it’s untrue and just a big rumour.

But still the band seems to ignore confirming or not whether they finished the album that was reported by Geffen Records.

From the Guns N’ Roses official website:

Axl must spend quite a bit of time on the net if he knows what’s going on through it every single time.

Report: Amy Winehouse denies recording song for 007 “Quantum of Solace” movie…

After all this time we thought Amy Winehouse and producer Mark Ronson were confirmed to record a song for the opening title sequence for the new James Bond flick “Quantum of Solace”, Amy came out to the public and said it’s not true.

Amy did confirm that she is finally, yes “FINALLY”, in the studio again recording her third studio album with new songs, she is not recording anything else outside of her new album.

Yahoo reports:

Way to go Amy! I’m happy she’s in the studio again after all the hell she’s been through lately. Great to see she’s getting happier, stronger and better!

I’m looking forward to her new album.
