Report: “Pinocchio” finds his writer for Warner Bros…

Hollywood is going to give the live action, “Pinocchio” another try, and it will be brought to us by Warner Bros. studios. WB’s hired their writer for the live action, “Pinocchio”. That writer is, Bryan Fuller.

Pinocchio, is one of my favorite movies ever made. The first time they tried it live action was the 1996 movie that starred, Jonathan Taylor Thomas. That movie failed in the box office. I’ve seen that version and it did suck hard. It was a big mess.

The Disney animated, “Pinocchio” is such a classic, that it doesn’t need to be live action, in my opinion. If it failed with the Jonathan Taylor Thomas version, Warner Bros. will fail with this one too. A live action, “Pinocchio” will be very difficult to make. You’ve seen the animated one, haven’t ya? Will Warner Bros. version be all live action? Obviously not. They will make a lot of it, CGI.

They’ll make Jimminy Cricket, CGI. They’ll make Monstro the Whale, CGI. The Blue Fairy will be CGI. What about that song “Wish you Upon a Star” that Jimminy sings? WB’s may have to get the rights from “Disney” for the songs that were sung from the original animated film. I’m sorry but this film will probably suck. WB’s wasting their time and money.

Thought: This blog does a nice job defending Jon Hamm, about him being too old for Superman…read up…

There’s a blogger over at the Film School Rejects website that defended the choice of Jon Hamm, who possibly maybe the next Superman. A lot of fans claimed that he’s too old for the role.

Read this blog here carefully.

Remember, Christopher Reeve was 26 when he did the first Superman movie. By “Superman III” and “IV: The Quest For Peace”, Reeve was between his 30’s-40’s then. The comics, the cartoons, the films, etc. Supes has a mature look. Jon Hamm, seems to have that Clark Kent/Superman look. His look doesn’t need to be similar to Christopher Reeve, they already did that with Brandon Routh. As long as Hamm has the Superman look, he will get signed to the role.

Jon Hamm is just at the right age. Not too old at all.

Report: Clint Eastwood could have been Superman and James Bond…

While promoting his new directed movie, “Hereafter” that stars Matt Damon, Clint Eastwood admits that he was offered by Warner Bros. to play Superman and was offered to play James Bond, but Eastwood turned them both down. The reason? Eastwood always did roles that were more realistic. Eastwood never wanted to play silly superheros, he always felt like those roles were for somebody else but not him. Read more on it here.

Yeah, it’s no secret that Eastwood always did roles that were more real. He’s done roles like that throughout most of his career. Even the films he never starred in but directed, were based on reality too.

Eastwood wouldn’t make a bad Superman, back in the old days, if you think about it. His face has got that Superman look, I think that’s why Warner Bros approached him. Many actors were offered the Superman role: Stallone, Tom Selleck, Nicolas Cage, etc. They were all turned down so the role was more fitting to no one other but the late, Christopher Reeve.

Just imagine Eastwood playing the Clark Kent role too, with the glasses and black hair. I’m sure Eastwood would be able to play the Clark Kent/Superman role pretty well, he just felt someone else was more deserving to that role. Maybe Clint knew that Christopher Reeve deserved it more so Clint talked the film makers into hiring Chris instead?

Here are the details:

  • Two Face/Harvey Dent and Hugo Strange will be the two main villains for the game.

Can’t wait for the game! I’m definitely interested in this one ’cause I thought “Arkham Asylum” was amazing. Excellent gameplay, story, and graphics. I’m probably going to end up playing “Arkham Asylum” again soon.

Report: Robin Williams wants to play the Riddler in next “Dark Knight” flick, if Chris Nolan picks the Riddler that is…

Robin Williams, revealed that he is dying to play the Riddler in the next “Batman” flick. The only problem is, Christopher Nolan and David Goyer still haven’t announced the main villain for Batman 3 yet. Just a few days ago, Christopher Nolan announced that the script for “Batman 3” is now in the works, finally. So we will soon know who the villains for the next flick will be.

Robin also says, he was offered roles for the earlier Batman films but he was turned down everytime. He got offered to play the Joker in Tim Burton’s “Batman” film, but it obviously went to Jack Nicholson instead and he also got offered a role for the Riddler in “Batman: Forever” but he was turned down for that too.

More on it here:

http://foreign.peacefmonline.com/entertainment/201006/52127.php

If Christopher Nolan does happen to pick the Riddler, maybe Robin’s dream would come true. Mr. Nolan has worked with Robin Williams in a film before. Remember that film, “Insomnia” which Robin stars with Al Pacino and Hillary Swank? That film was directed by Mr. Nolan, and Robin plays a villain in that film. So Mr. Nolan would know that Robin plays a villain very well.

Robin also played a villain in the movie , “One Hour Photo”, which was directed by Mark Romanek. Robin does have experience playing villains in films.

Even if the Riddler is picked for the next Batman film, that still doesn’t mean Robin could get picked. Maybe Chris has a different vision for a different actor that would be the right fit. So my point in this blog, don’t get your hopes up that Robin will get the role. I’d like to see him get it and Robin would play the role perfectly. Robin thinks he’s gonna get it because his “ego” got in his head that he already worked with Chris before.

I’m all cool with Robin as the Riddler, sure, but honestly, I would say give the Riddler role to a young actor.

Thought: Woody Harrelson should play the Riddler in Batman 3 if the Riddler is picked…

If The Riddler is picked as the main villain for “Batman 3”, I think Woody Harrelson would be the perfect choice of actor to play the character. Woody looks almost exactly like Frank Gorshin from the TV series. Woody’s got the same look as the Riddler character, he’s got a great enough speaking voice for the character. I’m pretty sure Woody can laugh like the Riddler perfectly. Woody’s the perfect fit for the Riddler role, in my opinion.

As for who should play other Batman villains, another actor I can think of that could play the Penguin is Phillip Seymour Hoffman. He was actually rumoured to play the character years back but he denied it. Phillip is short and fat like the Penguin. Either him or Jack Black would be great for the Penguin.

As for the Catwoman, I know they won’t get Halle Berry, but lets hope Nolan doesn’t have her in mind. Honestly, Angelina Jolie might be great for Catwoman. Maybe Kate Winslet or Hillary Swank.

They need an actor who can play the villain with great acting chops, much like Heath Ledger’s Joker. I’m pretty sure Nolan won’t fail on the casting for the villain for Batman 3. He’s great at what he does.

Report: Christopher Nolan confirms no Joker in Batman 3, plus other Batman/Superman news…

Christopher Nolan finally speaks on his projects with “Batman” and “Superman” to Empire magazine. Chris says the Joker will not be the next villain ’cause he feels it’s wrong for Heath Ledger to be replaced. While he didn’t reaveal any villains for “Batman 3” yet, he did say, however, that the Penguin and Mr. Freeze could possibly be the next two villains for the next flick. Chris also says he didn’t officially sign on to direct “Batman 3” yet, because his only focus is working on the new movie, “Inception” that stars Leonardo Dicaprio. Chris is only mentoring, “Batman 3” and “Superman”.

As for Superman, Nolan didn’t speak much about it, but he says, the next Superman movie will not be a DC styled superhero like film. Nolan confirms David Goyer is writing the new Superman script, and Nolan says he will not direct the Superman movie. Nolan says he will try to help Warner Brothers find a different director with the right fit. Again, Nolan refuses to say who the villains will be for the next “Superman” movie.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/17419/nolan-talks-superman-batman

I’m sure, Nolan and the writers already have villains planned out for both films, they don’t want to reveal them publicly until the time is right. Just like they did with Heath Ledger’s Joker for “The Dark Knight”.

If you think about it, using Penguin for the next Batman movie would be a good idea ’cause I didn’t like the Danny Devito Penguin in “Batman: Returns”. The Penguin role needs to be done right. How are they going to find a  short and fat actor for the Penguin? Not many actors like that these days. Danny Devito would be too old to play the Penguin so I don’t see him reprising the role. If anything, one actor I can think of on who can play the Penguin is no one other than Jack Black, he is pretty short guy and overweight so he might be the right guy. I’m sure Jack Black can do the Penguin voice very well.

As for the villain for “Superman”, my pick is still Brainiac. Although I must say Terence Stamp returning as an aging General Zod would be badass though…

Also announced, “Sherlock Homes 2”, WB’s is getting close to greenlighting a “Flash” movie. “Aqua Man” and “Wonder Woman” is also coming to the big screen.

The Hollywood Reporter reports:

Lets hope Warner Bros. makes the next “Superman” flick a real good one this time. I’m sure they will, since they got Christopher Nolan helping out with the next Supes flick. Chris definitely won’t be able to direct, “Superman” now ’cause it will be hard for him to direct two movies at the same time. It will be interesting to see who the director will be for the “Superman” movie. I personally think, the director should be no one other than the great, Richard Donner, who did the first Superman movie. If they can get Donner to direct, that would be fantastic. He’s 80 years old, but I think he’s still directing, I believe.

BREAKING NEWS: Warner Bros. fights back for Superman rights!!!

Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan are about ready to get a new “Supes” flick off the ground. So in order to save the franchise, Warner Bros. files suit against the lawyer who represents  the Jerome Siegel heirs, Marc Toberoff. A while back, the Siegel heirs sued Warner Bros. to get full copyrights of the “Superman” character. The Siegel heirs won half of the copyright by owning half of the Superman material while Warner Bros. still owns the other half. The Siegel estate ordered WB’s studios that if they don’t get the new Superman movie made by 2011, they will own full copyright of the Superman franchise.  Look like Warner Bros. still wants full copyright of the franchise, so the new Superman movie can be made the right way.

I can’t blame them. I wish WB’s luck and I’m sure they will win this battle. I would like to see a new Superman movie made with WB’s owning full copyrights. I’ll be keeping an eye on this news. I’m a die hard Superman fan more than I am with Batman. Love the Superman franchise so much!
