Wrestlemania 27 review ***SPOILERS***

I guess I’ll review “Wrestlemania 27”, right now, but I’ll put a spoiler warning on.

I thought this was a very good Wrestlemania, not the best ever, but I’ve seen better from the past. I thought WWE did a good job last night. I enjoyed everything about the PPV and wasn’t bored a bit. Below, I’ll explain everything that went on and what I liked about it. I’ll explain what I liked in detail. I’ll put a Spoiler warning on for those who haven’t saw last night’s WRESTLEMANIA.

Here we go on with the review…

———————————SPOILER WARNING—————————————–

————————–DO NOT SCROLL DOWN IF YOU DIDN’T SEE IT————-

First off, the Rock was the first one to come out to the ring. He delivered a great promo like he always did. He said really nothing special. All he said he promised this is going to be a very memorable Wrestlemania and he promised a surprise for John Cena at the end of the show.

After the Rock leaves, the first match that happens is the World Heavyweight Championship match between Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio….

In this match I said Alberto Del Rio was going to win, my prediction was wrong. Edge ended up getting the win, retaining his title. Christian came out to be in Edge’s corner in this match, everyone was expecting Alberto to win and Christian to turn heel, but neither of these things happened. I liked that little twist in this match because WWE is trying to keep things unpredictable. It was a fun match though and these two guys put on a great story. The match ended with Edge & Christian destroying Alberto’s car.

Next up, we get Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio. Both men are masked wrestlers. I love Cody Rhodes new gimmick, it’s so dark and creepy. I used to never like Cody Rhodes, but I like him a lot more now. The reason for Cody’s mask is so he can use it as a weapon, very creative, in my opinion. I thought this match was very entertaining. Cody is a pretty good heel and he ended up wining the match like I predicted in that video, so I got that one right.

Next up we get Kane, Big Show, Kofi Kingston, Santino Marella vs. The Corre. It was a very quick and short match. Kane & Big Show’s team ended up getting the win for that one. The reason this match was a quick one is ’cause of timing issues for other matches on the card, plus, the WWE wanted to give the good guys a chance to be heroes for Wrestlemania for the kids.

Next up: CM Punk vs. Randy Orton. As expected, Randy Orton got the win which I predicted. Of course, this was going to be a great match like Randy Orton matches are always great. This was one of the best matches of the night.

Next up is Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler. Everyone expected Jerry Lawler to get the win, but the WWE ended up letting Michael Cole win. This is one match that shocked me. Of course, everyone hated Lawler losing, people online are complaining, but I’m actually glad Michael Cole got the win. It gives him more heat as a heel. I can see why WWE gave Cole the win on Wrestlemania. Lawler is a Hall of Famer and legend. Michael Cole is a young talent. Lawler got the win at first, but the RAW anonymous GM disqualified him due to interference with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Many people hated the way this match turned out, but I thought it was perfect. It was shocking and unpredictable, the way story lines are supposed to be.

Triple H. vs. The Undertaker – No Holds Barred Match. Of course, the Undertaker won, 19-0. WWE did a great job getting everyone thinking that Undertaker was going to lose which he didn’t. As expected this was the best match of the night. Pretty emotional and powerful match too.

Lay-Cool & Dolph Ziggler vs. Trish Stratus, Snooki, and John Morrison. This match was very entertaining. Like I explained before, Snooki did that impressive pin wheel move, that acrobatic thing, whatever it is. Whether you like Snooki or not, you gotta give her respect just this one time for her impressive athleticism. No complaints for this match.

The Miz vs. John Cena – I thought this was a great match too. A lot of people online are being critical about it, but I thought it was fine. Everyone knew that the Rock was going to be involved which he did interfere of course, but he came out at the end of the match. The match was over when John Cena and the Miz were outside of the ring in the audience, laying on the ground, out cold from brutal beatings. It was a disqualification with a count out, so the Miz ended up winning. The Rock’s music hits and The Rock came out. The Rock takes the mic and orders the match to continue. Which the match did. When the Miz and Cena got back into the ring, the Rock was waiting for Cena to give him the Rock Bottom. After Cena was taken out by the Rock, the Miz pinned Cena the 1-2-3, the match ends right there. I can see why people complained how the match ended. The reason for the 10 count out disqualification is that the WWE wanted to trick people that the match was over, in order for it to make sense to bring the Rock out, since he is Wrestlemania host.

Over all I thought this was a great Wrestlemania. I was entertained all the way through. Surprising appearances by Snoop Dogg, Pee Wee Herman, Mean Gene Okerlund, Roddy Piper, and Mae Young were on the show. I’m disappointed that the Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan match was taken off the ppv card and moved to the dark match before the ppv.

Not a bad Wreslemania at all, I liked it. Looking forward to seeing what’s going to happen tonight on RAW.

Score for “Wrestlemania 27” = *** (3 stars as in “excellent”)

Thought: Defending “Snooki’s” Wrestlemania appearance…

Snooki’s “Wrestlemania” appearance was well deserved, and it is what the WWE needed for “Wrestlemania”. You can all love her or hate her all you want. It’s a fact that she’s currently the biggest mainstream celebrity of them all. Sure, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears maybe huge in the media, but they are not even in Snooki’s league.

The whole point of “Wrestlemania” is to celebrate pop culture in the media world. “Wrestlemania” is all about celebrities. It has been for over 20 years. Remember, Cyndi Lauper and Mr. T were the first two celebrities that made the first “Wrestlemania” huge. Without the celebrities, no one would care for “Wrestlemania”. Everytime a new Wrestlemania happens, when a celebrity is huge around that time, WWE would hire that celeb for the Wrestlemania appearance. For example when Donald Trump did his “hair vs. hair” match with Vince McMahon, that was when The Donald’s show, “Celebrity Apprentice” started getting huge. Kim Kardashian was already part of Wrestlemania for “WM-24”, she was the guest host that year, that was when Kim K. started to get known. Around the time, “The Wrestler” film came out, Mickey Rourke made his WM appearance for his match with Jericho. Floyd Mayweather Jr. made his WM appearance because he was just getting known as a popular fighter. You get the idea?

Celebrities are very important with “Wrestlemania” shows. The WWE doesn’t care if people hate that certain “celebrity”. As long as that celebrity is huge in pop culture, like ’em or hate ’em, the WWE will hire that celebrity for a “Wrestlemania” appearance. That’s how it goes. Why does the WWE hire a popular celeb in current pop culture? Because it helps people pull in buy rates for ppv’s and helps gives the WWE more publicity.

Snooki was actually pretty entertaining last night. As I expected, she did the most action. She did a few impressive moves, she did this pin wheel like finisher to give Lay-Cool the 1-2-3 and that was it. That’s how Snooki’s team won. After seeing all that, Snooki is pretty athletic. When Snooki appeared in the ring last night at Wrestlemania, she got  booed heavily, of course…but when she did that pin wheel thing last night, the audience actually cheered for her.

So would Snooki be a good full time WWE Diva when the time comes? Absolutely! She has the look to be a Diva, so why not?

Why do I talk positive toward Snooki so much? It’s because I have no problem with her. She’s not that bad as other celebrities in the media. Charlie Sheen, Chris Brown, and Paris Hilton are the worst trainwrecks. Snooki is pretty normal, in my opinion, she’s just a human being that enjoys entertaining people. That’s all she wants to do. She did a good job last night.

I’m sure there will be more Snooki WWE appearances up ahead. Maybe she’ll be on RAW tonight?

Report: Snooki gets paid more for her “Wrestlemania” appearance than wrestlers?

Not only that people are upset with Snooki’s payday by Rutgers students, there are other people who are upset with Snooki’s payday for “Wrestlemania”. Was Snooki paid by WWE more than wrestlers and other celebrities? Seems that even wrestlers are upset with Snooki with being part of “Wrestlemania” tomorrow.

Read this interesting article, here.

I can’t blame WWE for paying her that much to get her on though. They did whatever it took to get her on, they wanted her on badly.

Thought: If Triple H breaks the Undertaker’s streak, then that would destroy wrestling overall…

This is obviously the most talked about match at “Wrestlemania 27”, which is just two weeks away on April 3rd. Will Triple actually break the Undertaker’s streak at Wrestlemania this year? Will it be 18-1?

On this week’s RAW, Triple had another promo out in the ring. He said this match is better than any other championship match and it would be a career defining moment to break the Undertaker’s world record “Wrestlemania” streak.

As you all know, the Undertaker’s undefeated “Wrestlemania” streak is the most important thing in wrestling history. If Undertaker’s “Wrestlemania” streak gets ended this soon, then wrestling would be destroyed over all and all the power would handed to Triple H. While I am looking forward to this matchup, I just don’t think Triple H will win and end the streak. NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

The Undertaker will keep the streak going until he retires. It would be sad if Undertaker loses the streak this soon. It would certainly disappoint the wrestling industry as well. Triple H shouldn’t be the guy to end the streak. This is the Undertaker’s 18th match at Wrestlemania and in my opinion, the undefeated streak will keep going for a long time.

Some of you may ask, “Why are Triple H and Undertaker acting like this is their first match when they had a match for Wrestlemania X-7?” The reason is, there’s a lot of new wrestling fans these days. They wouldn’t know about WWE history much. The longtime fans like myself, would know about that match, but Undertaker and Triple stepping in the ring at WM-27, would be new to the newer fans though. I like how they are not mentioning their old match.

If Undertaker loses the streak at WM-27 this year, I probably will give up watching WWE for good. It would be devastating if that happens. If Undertaker were to lose the streak, they need to make it happen at the right time. Now it’s not the time to lose the streak, way too soon.

If Undertaker ever did lose the streak, it would indeed create controversy all over the net and would be a shocker to the world. I just don’t see it happening, so there’s really nothing to worry about.

In other Wrestlemania thoughts, there are actually a few other matches I’m looking forward to. I’m also looking forward to Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole and the Divas tag match that Snooki is in. I’m disappointed there’s no “Money in the Bank” ladder match this year though. There is usually a “Money in the Bank” ladder match every year at Wrestlemania. I’m not sure why they scrapped it.

Looking forward to WM-27 in a few weeks. After the WM-27 card is done, I’ll predict my winners.

Tammy Sytch aka “Sunny” in WWE… the next inductee for the Hall of Fame???

Rumors are hitting the internet in the world of wrestling news, that Tammy Sytch famous for “Sunny”, the WWE Diva who worked for the company for the three years in the early 90’s, just maybe the next inductee for the, WWE Hall of Fame. Since she only worked for WWE for three years in the 90’s, never worked in the 80’s and never made a return, you ask yourself, how is it possible that she could get inducted? Well here’s how…

The reason she could possibly make it is that she was the very first woman in the WWE to be known as a Diva. Yes, there were other women in the WWE way before her, but the sex symbol thing wasn’t around until Sunny came along. Yep, Sunny was the very first WWE Diva that was considered a sex symbol. Sunny started the sex thing in wrestling. That’s what makes her legendary. After Sunny, the WWE kept the sex thing going up until around 2009, when WWE went TV-PG. Once WWE went PG a while back, the Divas don’t look sexy anymore.

I think Tammy Sytch deserves this honestly. She was the reason Sable, Trish Stratus and Lita happened. Without Tammy Sytch, the women’s division of wrestling wouldn’t be huge. We’ll have to wait and see if Tammy actually makes it. I hope she does.

Cool Video: The Rock responds to John Cena with an emotional message…

The Rock responded to John Cena last night on RAW via video satellite. This is one of the Rock’s best speeches in a long time. He gave an emotional one. The Rock was angry and sad at the same time in this video, and Dwayne did a great acting job showing that. You can tell that Dwayne’s film career is helping his wrestling speeches get better. You can feel the Rock’s emotion. I also loved how he explained why he left WWE to open doors for other wrestlers and even defended Cena a little bit.

Even though it’s confirmed that the Miz will wrestle Cena for the WWE Champ at WM-27, maybe that will change and have the Rock vs. Cena instead. Hopefully. Wrestlemania cards do change sometimes, so ya never know.

You gotta give respect for the Undertaker…

So, the Undertaker is returning to RAW this coming Monday. That’s what the “2-21-11” videos are all about. The latest, “2-21-11” video clearly showed the Undertaker in it, shooting down all rumors of Sting making his WWE debut.

Have you noticed a lot of legendary wrestlers from the past, retiring from wrestling and leaving for other careers? Examples: Stone Cold, Mick Foley, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, etc.

Not the Undertaker. He’s never backed out on WWE and he stuck with wrestling to this day. The Undertaker made his debut in WWE way back in 1990, that’s a long time he’s been with WWE, right? There’s a lot of speculation that the Undertaker will retire from WWE, but I think he’ll keep doing this until he dies.

I’m looking forward to Undertaker’s return to RAW this Monday. It’s clear that Mark Calloway loves his job too much. I think the Undertaker’s been around WWE longer than every wrestler pretty much. They don’t call him the Dead Man for nothing.

Thought: One thing the Rock proved about his return to WWE last Monday…

What is one thing that the Rock proved at his return to Monday Night RAW last Monday? The only thing that the Rock proved is that he belongs in “wrestling”, not in the “movies”. It really is true if you think about it. Other wrestlers can leave wrestling and go to the movies, but not the Rock. The Rock is wrestling, he’s not a movie star, at all.

I mean, most of his movies in his filmography, didn’t do so well in the box offices. He only had a very few successful hits like, “The Scorpion King”, and “Get Smart” were his two biggest films. The other films he did okay in the box office. His last movie, “Faster”, pretty much flopped.

The Rock is known for wrestling forever. This is why, every time he makes movies, people beg him to return for wrestling. Wrestling fans felt that he left a good career behind him. Rock was at the top of his game 7 years ago, and suddenly, he left wrestling to do “The Scorpion King” and a bunch of other movies after that.

During Rock’s film career, he even tried to drop, “The Rock” name and go under his birth name to promote in the movies. That didn’t work out,  people still saw him as the Rock in wrestling. Every time he did an interview for TV, the interviewer can’t help but ask him if he’ll ever return to wrestling.

I said it before and will say it again. The Rock is a true wrestling icon. Stone Cold, Hulk Hogan, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, etc. All those guys are icons as well, but they are not in the Rock’s league.

The reason everyone loves the Rock so much is because of his great mic skills and the sense of humor of his character. His character is very comical obviously. He’s like a comedian in wrestling. Plus, Dwayne’s mic work is very unique. The Rock is great at talking really fast without messing up a word, plus, he knows how to control a crowd. He does speeches better than any other wrestler. This is why people are obsessed with him. Even if people aren’t wrestling fans, the non-wrestling fans even like the Rock.

He’s a better actor in wrestling than he is in the movies. His acting in movies is okay, but nothing really special. The Rock is only good at action movies.

I’m glad Dwayne finally realized that he shouldn’t ignore wrestling. I’m sure he thought fans no longer cared for him after he left 7 years ago but he thought wrong. Fans still love the guy.

Steve Austin should take note. Austin left the WWE for the movies, so hopefully Austin won’t ignore wrestling completely. Austin sure didn’t ignore wrestling completely since he’s going to be host for this year’s “Tough Enough”, but hopefully Austin will make occasional appearances on RAW as well.

When the Rock came out to the ring last Monday on RAW, you can tell by the look of his eyes, he misses it. Of course, I don’t see Rock ditching his movie career at all for a full time wrestling return, though. He seems to want to be a “celebrity” than a wrestler. The only reason he got into wrestling ’cause he was born with it,  his entire Maivia. Samoan family were into it.
