Thinking about disabling comments on this blog completely, think I’m gonna…

I’m real tired of people being assholes every time certain people try to reply to this site. It isn’t that hard to keep things kind and civil, seriously. If you don’t like me then why do you continue to read and reply to me with asshole and negative comments??? I’m getting real tired of it. Thinking about turning off comments completely today and believe me, I’ll do it if I can figure it out. Get a life and grow up. Sad to see adults acting like children.

About the Capitol Hill car chase and shootings…

Today, a tragic incident happened in D.C. I didn’t hear about it yet ’cause I was gone most of the day. I went to the mall for the day and didn’t hear about the Capitol Hill tragedy until I got home earlier this evening.

A young woman named Miriam Carey who is 34 (she was black too) crashed her car into the White House barricade and police chased her through Pennsylvannia Avenue where Congress was in session. Police did a lot of shooting and shot the woman dead in her car with her child in it.

Wow! Un-fucking-believable! First the Navy Yard shooter and now this happened!

While I agree that it was wrong for this woman to resist the police after crashing into the White House barricade… it was wrong for the police to kill this woman. I’m actually with everybody on the internet on this one. They could have easily stopped the car and arrested her! Not shoot her dead with a child in a car. Is this police brutality? I would definitely say so! This poor child is going to live with this and that’s what sad about it.

I don’t know if this woman intentionally tried to crash into the White House as if it’s her way of protesting the government but these things will happen more and more if our government doesn’t straighten up. These things will get worse in D.C., trust me, folks. You can betcha Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will get themselves into this since a black person was involved.

We’re in our third day of Government shutdown and it’s all because of that asshole Harry Reid and Obama himself had a huge hand in the shutdown. They’re trying to save their precious Obamacare, that’s why they did it. Obama hasn’t negotiated yet and don’t expect him too.

Welcome to America, folks!

I think I may have found the perfect solution to eliminate ground loop hum…

star_ground_02a

See that photo above that I just found doing a little more research on Ground Loop when recording audio? That’s what I need to do, plug everything into the same wall! After all this investigation… it ended up being so easy to figure out! Don’t you hate that? I’ll give this a try tomorrow. Plug everything into the same wall like you see here.

At Best Buy today, I picked up a powered USB hub and that didn’t solve anything! At least the USB hub costed around $5.00 so I’m not worried about wasting money on it. I’ll still keep this though ’cause it’ll be useful for other things.

On another note, I just picked up “Grand Theft Auto V” today (will start the game tonight) and picked up the new Stephen King book, “Doctor Sleep” on hardcover.

Just had to go shopping today to get out of the house and do something.

RIP: Tom Clancy 1947 – 2013

This is pretty sad news that I felt was worth posting here. I haven’t read too many Tom Clancy books. I wasn’t that big of a fan of his but I admired him and respected him. I’ve only read a few of his books. “Patriot Games” and “The Hunt for Red October” were just a few of them I’ve read. Both of those books were my favorite and of course, I love the movies that were made for those. As a matter of fact, I just got done re-watching, “Hunt for Red October” film on Netflix just a few minutes ago. Great movie!

Tom was an author who wrote fictional stories based on military kind of stuff. He liked to write stuff about planes, and other military weapons. He is most famous for the Jack Ryan novel series which are being made for Hollywood film. Alec Baldwin played Jack Ryan for “Hunt For Red October”, Harrison Ford played the character in “Patriot Games” and “Clear and Present Danger”, and Ben Affleck played the character for “The Sum of All Fears”. Chris Pine will next star as Jack Ryan for the film, “Shadow Recruit”.

Tom not only had a huge influence in the Hollywood industry, he had an influence in the video gaming industry as well with games like, “Splinter Cell” and “Ghost Recon”.

Tom Clancy, passed away today with a cause of death not yet known, he was 66.

New movie theaters will be open in my area soon!

There will be two new movie theaters opening soon in my area in, Upstate New York. One theater called, Criterion Theater, will open Oct. 18th in Saratoga Springs, New York, and the other theater will open in the Wilton Mall, Oct. 25th. Regal Cinemas closed down at the Wilton Mall last year and we haven’t had a movie theater all year long pretty much. That’s why movie reviews to new movies have slowed down on this blog. I only saw 4 new movies in theater this year in 2013 so far, they were: “Man of Steel”, “42”, “Evil Dead”, and “Fast and Furious 6” but I saw those movies out of the area at other theaters. I’ve been waiting for most of the new releases to come out through Netflix DVD rental which I have been doing.

Over the weekend, I rented the movie,  “Warm Bodies”, that zombie love story which I actually liked btw. Maybe I’ll give that film a brief review in another post.

Once these new movie theaters open at the end of the month, I’ll start going to the movies a lot more often and the reviews will pick back up again. There are three movies out this month that I’m gonna be able to want to see and I’ll try to see them in Nov. What movies are they? Well, I want to see “Gravity” (yes that Clooney space movie), the new “Carrie” film, and “Captain Phillips” w/Tom Hanks. Which one will I see first? I’m probably gonna check out, “Gravity” first. Been looking forward to that one for a long time.

It may sound crazy but it’s been tough for local people around here with no movie theater. Going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do and it’ll be great to go start going again. I heard these two new cinemas are gonna be really good too! Better sound system, better picture, better seats, good food, etc.

Can’t wait for these new movie theaters! I missed going to the movies.

A rant about admission pricing to local music shows these days…

Ya know, I am pretty disgusted at the way a lot of bands and venues are pricing the admission to get into shows in this day and age. I look at all the show flyers and sometimes when I go to actual shows myself, I see venues pricing gigs at around $10 – $15. This is one thing I really hate about the music scene is the pricing for shows. I think $10 or a little more is a bit too high. In my opinion, “local gigs” don’t need to be priced that high. A price like that should be good enough to go see some crappy indie band at some craphole club. I miss the days when local music shows used to cost like $3 – $5 dollars to get in. The reason the pricing of shows are going up is because there is so much talent around this area and a lot of people are going to shows. As long as the scene is thriving, they’ll raise the price.

Money. *sigh*

That’s all this scene seem to care about these days. It seems that it’s okay to play music for the money the way this scene is going. Why do you think Pay to Play gigs are on the rise in the Capital area? Pay to play is all over this area now which is why it’s almost pointless to be gigging these days.

I was never about the money when it comes to music. I’m willing to play shows where I don’t get paid at all and I don’t care how much I get paid. I’m one of those who feel that if you play music for money, you’re doing it for the wrong reasons. I think musicians are a bit greedy when it comes to money and stuff.

Free shows are slowly fading away, I notice as well. I was always willing to play free gigs. Most of my gigs from the past were free shows. I only got paid from very few of them.

Music is not a day job for me. I don’t need extra income for that. I don’t want to make money out of my art. Something I’m proud of.

If I were to ever get back to playing live again, I would make sure I would play a free gig somewhere.

This is part of the reason why I don’t go out too much to see bands at local gigs ’cause I feel that the admission pricing these days are pretty ridiculous. $10 is too much to see some local band at some craphole bar — seriously, think about it for a few minutes.

Look like Netflix kept “Top Gun” streaming after all!!!

After watching a little bit of TV on Netflix this evening… I have noticed that Netflix decided to keep “Top Gun” w/ Tom Cruise on Netflix streaming after all!!! I swore they put up a notice that they were going to take it off on Oct 1st. It’s Oct 1st today and “Top Gun” is still on there for streaming but it don’t have the “Available until October 1st” text on there anymore. Look like Netflix got too many complaints from “Top Gun” fans. I’m glad they decided to keep it on there. So enjoy!!!!

My thoughts on the upcoming Government shutdown…

Well, a US government shutdown is officially happening and it’s coming whether you like it or not. By now, you’re probably wondering my opinion on this and I’ll give it a quick thought. Nobody in government wants a shutdown. Neither democrats and republicans wants a government shutdown. Of course, none of them want it. Why? Simply the only reason, nobody wants to be out of work for a little while! US politics doesn’t want a government shutdown. The American people (us) are all saying go for it! Yes, I’d say what the hell? I’ll agree with the American people and say shut it down. We could use a little break from all their bullshit anyway.

Obama is clearly being defeated by Republicans/conservatives about Obamacare. The House won the delay of Obamacare and so far this stupid health law is getting defeated, big time. Obama is not liking it either as you can see. He’s becoming defensive and claims that the Republicans are just messing with him. Nobody’s messing with Obama. The American people knows that Obamacare is all garbage. The American people spoke out and republican politicians responded — they want to help us. There are even some democrat politicians that are against Obamacare.

I think a government shutdown is good for the country and that’s what we need.

Instead of focusing on government shutdowns and trying to get rid of Obamacare… we need to start focusing on trying to shut down Obama’s presidency. That would be even better, I’d say. They need to get the impeachment hearings started. I don’t know why that’s so hard to do, ya know? When it shouldn’t be. If Obamacare won’t get the President impeached, then what will? There’s gotta be something in Obamacare that’s an impeachable offense and Congress might find out what that is soon.

Anybody who defends Obama on everything is a delusional misinformed idiot. It really does piss me off when people defend him. Do you really have this big of a hard on for him? Can’t stand liberals!!!!

Top Gun, why take it off streaming on Netflix???

Over the weekend, I had to re-watch “Top Gun” on Netflix since I had it in my instant que and they are about ready to take it off streaming Oct. 1st, that’s tomorrow. My question is why?

I have seen “Top Gun” too many times over the years but the weird thing about that is, I haven’t seen this film in a long time. I decided to re-watch this film for a bit of a throwback and I almost forgot how great this film really is. It really is a beautiful film. Some scenes maybe kind of cheesy but that’s the 80’s, ya know? Everything about this film is so great. The writing, the acting, casting, and even the soundtrack is really good! You probably remember the songs, “Danger Zone”, and “Take My Breathe Away”. Plus, the iconic opening instrumental theme. Also, Val Kilmer’s performance is what helps make this movie great! This film has a mix of genres into one: it’s a drama, a love story, action movie, comedy, etc.

There have been talks that Jerry Bruckheimer is planning a Top Gun sequel that will reunite Tom and Val in the leading role.

To be honest, I don’t think the film really needs a sequel ’cause the original is just perfect just the way it is! It is one of Tom’s best films in his career and I think I’m gonna buy the film on Blu Ray soon since they are taking it off Netflix streaming.

“Top Gun” is still streaming on Netflix but it’s only available for tonight, I believe. They will take it off tomorrow so if you wanna watch “Top Gun” on Netflix better hurry up and watch it tonight if you got nothing to watch! I hate when Netflix takes off good movies. Especially the essential ones like “Top Gun”. Maybe they’re trying to make more room for other films or it has something to do with licensing/permission? Don’t know.

Here is Val Kilmer talking with Larry King on plans for “Top Gun 2”.

It’s a shame what happened to Tony Scott. He was a talented film director.

Breaking Bad – Series finale review *********Major Spoilers*********

Wow. Last night’s “Breaking Bad” was absolutely amazing and mind blowing! Perfect closing for the series! Not only last night’s episode was amazing, the whole show overall was amazing. Every episode. Every season. This show was perfect all the way through. In other words, none of it sucked!

I’m gonna talk about the story for a little bit in this post but I’ll put a spoiler warning, of course.

At the end of “Breaking Bad” last night… Walt ended up sacrificing his life against the people who pretty much ruined him. Uncle Jack and his gang, Lydia, and everybody else. I was partly right in my prediction that Walt was going to use the ricin capsule on somebody and I was partly right that Walt was going to get killed off somehow. I was wrong that Walt was going to use the ricin capsule on himself but instead he accidentally shot himself with his own machine gun that he built for that car to kill Uncle Jack and the rest of the guys.

Last night’s episode did a really good job showing that Walt really cared for Jesse and he sacrificed his own life to save Jesse’s. He went to rescue Jesse and to get revenge on the men who killed Hank.

All season long I kept guessing that the series was going to end with Walt either dying of cancer or getting caught by the police but it ended up being something else. It’s called, “Breaking Bad” for a reason right?

Anyway, I’m going to miss the show, and wish it could go on for at least two more seasons. Now I’ll have to start collecting the rest of the “Breaking Bad” series on DVD ’cause I only have Season Four on DVD. I’ll get the first three on DVD before Season 5 comes out.

Well, since Walt got killed off at the end of the show, I guess that officially rules out a big screen movie possibility. There’s no “Breaking Bad” without Walt, right?

While last night’s show was a little predictable — it was still amazing. Vince Gilligan did a great job with the show.
