Cool Photo: Look like Mel Gibson is getting all muscled up for “Expendables 3″…

Aussie actor Mel Gibson shows off his buff arms while in Los Angeles

This photo was shot by TMZ, I believe. Mel Gibson spotted in public in the streets of Los Angeles. Here he is on his way to a gym. Look like Mel took advice from Sly that he should get buffed up for EXP3. Look like Mel has been working out for a long while now. It also looks he is committed to this role and he is taking it pretty seriously.

Looking good, Mr. Mel Gibson! Pretty impressive for a middle aged guy! Look like Mel wants to get into the action and have major fight scenes. Can’t wait to see Sly vs. Mel now!

Why musicians know nothing about professionalism in music… just a rant…

I have always said that local musicians know nothing about professionalism in music and I still stand by it. Meaning, they know nothing about having a professional attitude and they know nothing about being courteous/friendly to others. People mistakenly believe that the Albany’s music scene is a positive, lovable and happy music scene but the truth is, it isn’t. This area’s music scene is not friendly at all. It never has been and never will be. Musicians think they know about having a professional attitude but the way they communicate with other musicians and music fans, they look like amateurs, honestly.

How?

Lets see here… musicians with short tempers, horrible attitudes, bad communication skills, musicians who don’t write or speak well, being too critical and outspoken of other musicians — shall I keep going with the list? I can go on all day. If you’re any of those things, then you don’t have a professional attitude in music.

When you become a professional musician, they mistakenly think that you must be yourself. Well, a lot of times you can’t. That goes for online and social networking.

If you want to have a professional attitude, you must:

1) Be courteous and friendly to EVERYBODY (I mean everyone, even if you don’t like the person)

2)  Don’t respond to critics & haters

3) Be accepting of things even if you don’t like ’em (If you don’t agree with how you get paid at the gigs or if you get your set cut short, keep those opinions to yourself and let it be)

4)  Don’t be critical and hateful to other musicians (The bullying and harassment that goes on around musicians is pretty insane. If you’re the type of musician who is somebody like, “I don’t like you” or “I don’t like the way you said that”, then that’s pretty unprofessional. I can understand that you don’t like other musicians or bands as there are plenty out there I don’t like but it’s best to keep those opinions to yourself)

The simple fact is, that musicians know nothing about professionalism in music, period. End of story.

That includes me. I make my mistakes and learn from them. I still need to learn to be more professional and I am as you can see.

What I don’t get is… musicians appear to have professionals attitudes around everyone else but when they associate with me, they’re absolute shit. I got treated like crap by a lot of musicians out there over the years. Honestly, I would expect a professional attitude toward myself by other musicians but I never see that. They always came back with rotten attitudes. When they do stuff like this, I’m not afraid to expose that stuff on my blog. That’s what I’ve been saying all along over the years that musicians aren’t friendly. Honestly, I would like to be treated like a human being myself. What makes other musicians think it’s okay to treat me how you want to just because I don’t play music the way you do or not in your league on a professional level? That’s the thing about local music. If they think you suck musically, you’re the badguy. If you play extremely well, you’ll be a friend to other musicians. It’s pathetic really. We all should be treated with equal respect, no matter the level of talent or if you don’t like our playing.

I’ll ask again, musicians have professional attitudes? LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you become established and popular in the music scene, you have to have a professional attitude, all the time. You can’t really be yourself even though you would like to. Even in facebook, you have to act professional.

If you act unprofessional, a lot of bad karma will come out of it. You will lose a lot of support from fans, musicians, and music venues. I know from my own experience.

Make no mistake about it, people. When musicians talk to me, I expect a professional attitude from them too and when they don’t… I won’t be afraid to write all about it on my blog.  There’s so much negativity and drama in local music ’cause musicians thrive on it. As I repeatedly said, it’s all ego with them. They want to think they’re better and smarter than everyone else ’cause of their successes and accomplishments in music. Maybe if I had some of the same successes and accomplishments other bands had, maybe they would take me more seriously…that’s how weird musicians can be.

We all should be treated with the same respect. To hell with musicians, ya know? It’s why I don’t care to support the scene much anymore as I used to. Musicians can be real douchebags.

Haters just gives you encouragement so don’t feel offended or hurt by them…

When I first started in music, I used to be offended by haters. I used to defend myself from every negative thing written about me online but I don’t care anymore. They just give me even more encouragement. They inspire me and make me stronger. You have to learn that when you put your music out there, you’re gonna get haters. It might be hurtful and upsetting that people would write nasty stuff about you online but you have to learn to be tough and learn to ignore them completely if you want a healthy, successful, and positive music career. Responding to the haters will not solve anything ’cause that’s gonna make you look childish and unprofessional instead. The professional thing to do is you gotta learn to love your haters. Don’t take it personally and be flattered by the hate.

I’m strict on moderating comments not because I’m offended at hateful comments. Not true. I don’t even read the nasty comments. I just quickly delete them without reading and just move forward to my life. I’m just trying to keep my public blogging and social networking a positive world. No matter how positive or how good of a person you are… you are always going to get people who aren’t going to like you. Once again, you can’t please everybody.

You will get hate by other fellow musicians and regular music fans but simply laugh at it and let it go. Think about it, the haters are a huge part of why you’re a successful musician to begin with. They helped you get there, agree with it or not. Haters are gonna hate. It’s just simple as that.

I came pretty close to quitting music completely a few years ago because I get too many haters but I learned that was a huge mistake. You’re just letting them win ’cause that’s what they want you to do is to quit. If music is what you love to do, you have to learn to say “fuck EVERYBODY” and just play no matter how many hates you. Another problem musicians seem to have is defending themselves from haters and feeling hurt by them.

All bands have haters. Just ignore them. Don’t respond to any of them and just play. Life in music would be much easier for you.

Ben Affleck is your new Batman and here are my thoughts…

Like most, I am pretty surprised they picked Ben Affleck as the new Batman for the “Man of Steel” sequel. Warner Bros. announced the surprising news last night. Wow. They were pretty quick on hiring the new Batman so it looks like they’re in a rush. You see? Zack Snyder works fast, I wasn’t joking around.

To be honest, I think Ben is the perfect choice to play the role. Ben seems to be a fan of comics and superheroes himself as he has already played Daredevil, once for Marvel. The team behind the “Batman and Superman” film were looking for a slightly older Batman. I guess that’s the reason why Ben was picked ’cause he fit that perfectly. All the Batman’s from the past: Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Christian Bale were all pretty young at the time when they were first hired for their roles. Ben in his 40’s. This would make Ben the 5th Batman actor.

A lot of people online are trashing their choice of Ben playing the new Batman/Bruce Wayne but give him a chance. I think Ben is gonna be great. He’s gonna look great in the suit, I’m sure. The Batman suit is probably gonna be a black and rubber suit again but hopefully they give it a new style. New look and new color. They changed the Superman suit around, some, they’re probably gonna do the same with the Batman suit. I’m looking forward to seeing what Ben is gonna look like in the Batman suit so I’m sure Warner Bros. will release a photo of it soon to show us.

In Ben’s defense, I think he’s a very talented actor. He always has been. He can play any role that throws at him, no matter the genre. Sounds like Warner Bros. want to give Batman a different feeling and Ben would be great for that. Give Ben a chance and don’t be so quick to judge. He’s gonna be awesome! I think Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck will be a great team-up!

My ideas for my next batch of originals…

Ya know, in my next batch of original songs, I think I’m going to take vocals a little more seriously, next time around. Not trying to sound like an egomaniac but I think people will be surprised of the new direction I’m planning to take my songs in. I think they will be a little different than all of the earlier stuff I did in the past. I really would like people to take me seriously as a singer/songwriter and doing all I can. I’m gonna really focus on the singing. Really try to sing good. With more heart, passion, and intensity.

My goal with my songs is that I’m not trying to write music that people can dance and sing along to — that’s never been my thing. I would like people to feel goosebumps with my songs. I would like people to enjoy them like any musician would. Just sit back and relax, enjoy. That’s the kind of songwriter I wanna be. I’m not about hit songs. I’m about the art.

I learned that you can’t beg people to like your music. It’s your job to get them to by writing the best music possible. I want to try the folk music direction to see if that works.

Now that I’ve read enough poetry and starting to write poems of my own that should be good enough to get me to start writing lyrics again. I’ll make the demo homemade just so I can give people an example to do things old-school, and you don’t have to go to no expensive studio in town.

I think I’m ready to start writing music again, finally.

Cool Video: The Melvins walk off stage after fan throws plastic water bottle at guitarist…

The Melvins, a legendary punk rock group is seen here about ready to start a gig in Canada… the band starts playing the song and a fan throws a plastic water bottle at the guitarist’s chest. The band stops the song and walks off after saying a few cuss words at the crowd.

I know some people would mistakenly believe that the band did an unprofessional thing here but to be honest, I’m siding with the Melvins. You pay your money to go see band shows. When you go, you don’t heckle ’em and throw stuff at ’em. Doesn’t matter if it’s a water bottle, a shoe, tomatoes or whatever. You give the band shit, they’ll give you shit back and that’s what went on here. Bands get stuff thrown at them all the time. It happens. People have thrown much worse things at bands like glass beer bottles and things like that.

After what happened to Dimebag, I think bands have all their right to react to thing like this. They are concerned for their safety and protecting themselves. Not only for themselves, it’s for the safety of the people who went to the shows.

The band are there to entertain you. You want to give them bullshit, it’s a good idea for them to walk off. I would have done the same thing if I ever get a band someday. It’s called karma.

Even if it was a plastic water bottle and wasn’t gonna do any harm, it’s still very rude to throw stuff at ’em. Can be a bit distracting when playing your instruments. It’s okay that fans want to throw beach balls or balloons on stage like it always happens but bottles of any kind… no. This is the same thing as a little kid getting punished for throwing a pencil at a teacher at school. You know how when you got to show the school teacher respect? The same you must do for a rock band.

If you don’t like a band, then don’t go. Simple as that. You gotta respect the Melvins. They were the ones who made Nirvana happen.

Why movie reviews have slowed on this site this summer…

There are so many movies I wanted to see that came out this summer but can’t go and watch them because why? Simply because, there is no movie theater around my area. At the Wilton Mall they closed down Regal Cinemas so this left my area no movie theater at all. It closed down earlier this year. It’s a shame. There’s too many movies this summer I’ve been wanting to see and will probably have to wait for DVD rental for all of them. I’ve wanted to see: “The Wolverine”, “The Conjuring”, “Pacific Rim”, “Kick-Ass 2”,  and “Elysium”. Those were the only movies I was interested in seeing this summer. I would have went and saw them all if there was a movie theater open in my area. There is going to be a new movie theater opening around here pretty soon. Bow Tie Cinemas will be taken its place at the Wilton Mall. I hear that the new place won’t open sometime around the Fall so it’s gonna be a while longer for me to go out and start seeing new movies again. I do miss going to the movies ’cause as you all know, going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do.

At least I got to see, “Man of Steel”, and “Fast and Furious 6”, earlier this summer though. Both of them were great films too.

Anna Kendrick shows off quite a cleavage for GQ magazine…

I only heard of Anna Kendrick through the “Pitch Perfect” movie she was in. It was a really good film. I’m not ashamed for liking it. I actually liked Anna in that movie and the photoshoot she did for GQ magazine makes me like her even more! She shows off quite a good cleavage here. Yes, I’m sure there’s plenty of photoshop work and airbrushing but she’s still a hot young woman. Besides, if you google her pics she has showed off her cleavage many times at premiere events so she really does have a pretty good size boobs and they are natural. She’s a nice looking chick and I would totally date her for sure!

This year’s Rest Fest lineup announced…

557394_553044708076185_153682990_n

I remember last year’s “Rest Fest” lineup, Sharon Van Etten headlined the whole thing. They were pretty lucky to get her ’cause she’s a pretty big indie artist. Plus, two other legendary local bands reunited for this gig: they were the Kamikaze Hearts and Dryer.

This year, Rest Fest, is a little different. EBJ and Wild Adriatic makes the lineup which isn’t surprising, honestly. I’ve always wanted to see EBJ and the Parlor on a same show together. The Parlor is a folk music group fronted by a female vocalist. Hopefully, EBJ and The Parlor will perform on the same day, the same stage.

Rest Fest is a pretty big music festival that is at a church. It’s for a fundraiser and charity, I think.

Started writing my own poetry this week and it’s coming along great!

Just wrote several poems of my own this week. It’s a great way to speak your mind. I wish I got into poetry a long time ago. The reason why I got into poetry is ’cause I wanted to see how they do it and see how they rhyme and stuff. Coming to think of it, after reading a lot of poetry already, I am finding out that you do not need to rhyme at all. In fact, I find poetry to be the best when you don’t rhyme. I think rhyming is boring and stupid, in my opinion. In my lyric writing, I hardly ever made ’em rhyme. I think poetry/lyrics are more interesting when they don’t rhyme. I think rhyming is for cowards and it’s only good for rap music. You can write poetry however you want to. There are no rules.

Will I start publishing some of my own poetry for this blog? Like I said only certain ones. Most of my poetry are going to be for my own private and personal use. Kind of like a private diary. Writing poetry will certainly help get me out of my writers block for songwriting. This will definitely help make my lyric writing a little different.

Poetry is very cool. It’s never too late to get into it.

I’m thinking whenever I start gigging again, I could read a few of my poems spoken word like at the start of the performance. I could also read poetry aloud at open mic shows too. I’ll start reading some on video for my youtube channel.

Only thing though, my poetry will be no holds barred, anything goes kind of poetry. That means they will probably have swearing, dirty talk, and all that stuff. My poetry won’t be just negative rantings, I’ll try to write more friendlier and positive poems too.

Creative writing is good for ya. When I was a kid, I used to want to be a horror fiction writer like Stephen King but once I discovered music and guitar playing things changed. In fact, I have already been writing poetry for years ’cause lyrics is pretty much the same thing, anyway. Writing is one of my favorite things to do as you can tell ’cause writing on a blog is a huge part of it. I just love to write what’s on my mind. It helps make you stronger, smarter, and makes you a better person.
