Vote kbrocking.com for Metroland…

You still have time to vote for my site, “kbrocking.com” for “Best Local Blog” category. I don’t see where you can vote for on the metroland.net site but I’m sure the Metroland papers themselves have the voting papers inside them. The voting closes March 8th, this Friday. There are two categories you can vote me for. Of course, you can vote “kbrocking.com” for “Best Local Blog” and you can also vote for “@kbrocking” for Best Twitter Feed.

I don’t want you voting me for any of the music categories ’cause I know I’ll never make ’em, but any of the internet categories would be golden.

My blog is different than all the other local blogs. I like to keep things real, honest, and I like to talk about every topic. Unlike other blogs, they focus on one topic. I like to talk about everything.

Film of the Day: “Schindler’s List”

In celebration of the “25th Anniversary” of “Schindler’s List” Blu Ray coming out in stores tomorrow (which I’m thinking about buying, probably will), I thought it would be cool to start of “Film of the Day” with this movie. This tells the story of a man named Oskar Schindler who saved the lives of many Polish-Jewish people from getting employed to factories, during the Holocaust in World War II.

The film stars Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. I think this is Spielberg’s best historical drama. I remember seeing this film in theater a couple of times when it was first released. It’s a powerful and moving film all the way through. I think this is an important film that everyone needs to see. While Spielberg’s “Lincoln” movie, was real good, it’s “Schindler’s List” is what it’s all about here. I still have the DVD for this film, and might replace it with the BluRay this week. “Schindler’s List” is one of my favorite films of all time. Even though it’s a historical drama, this is one movie I can watch over and over again.

Figure it out, I don’t want anything to do with negative people, online or off…

This is why I’m strict at moderating comments online, everywhere I go. It’s my way of eliminating negativity from my life. I don’t deal with any of it. Pure and simple. I don’t feel any reason why people feel the need to be negative to others. Do people ever look at their writing and feel bad about it? I know I used to be a negative and angry person online, but I’ll admittedly regret it and felt bad about it, so I had to change. I’m a good guy ’cause that’s who I want to be. Life is too short to be in a bad mood and have a bad attitude, all the time, ya know? No matter, how positive I get, sure enough, people will keep writing negative things to you ’cause it amuses themselves for laughs. They keep trying to put you down ’cause they know they fail at it and they won’t give up until they win. You can’t let them win. Again, haters are gonna hate.

Being a negative person, doesn’t help you as a music artist and as a musician either. You can turn off a lot of fans who once supported you and you could lose respect from other musicians, knowing from my own experience. Yes, people are still going dislike me, but you gotta learn to ignore it all and deal with it.

Yes, I’m still gonna have negative opinions on movies, entertainment news, politics, etc. which is okay to do, but you can’t hide behind freedom of speech and I learned those mistakes as I went along, over the years. Even though, I changed myself for the better, people will always try to find ways to make yourself look bad. You can’t let them think it’s okay to do. All I care about is living a happy and positive life. My life off the computer is a good one. I vow to keep it that way.

I’ll start this “Movie Of the Day” topic first thing tomorrow, I didn’t feel like doing it tonight. I do have something special to pick for the first, “Movie of the Day” tomorrow, and you will like that choice too. Be on the look out for it. I watched, “The Walking Dead”, and the new “Vikings” show on the History Channel tonight.

Can romantic relationships over the internet work??? I would say absolutely!!!

I know romantic relationships and long distance dating over someone you met over the internet, can be a controversial and debatable topic, but can they really work? Can couples get married after finding each other online? A lot of people mistakenly want to believe they don’t work. They’re just a fantasy, but they CAN work and it can happen. Here’s how…

As long as you know what you’re doing and being careful doing it, a dating relationship online can be successful. Just watch out for the scammers (anonymous people posing under women trying to scam money from you), and anonymous spam bots promoting other dating sites. Make sure the person you’re talking with is real and actually know each other for a long while by not just talking on the internet with your partner but maybe talk via phone (if you can afford long distance that is) or maybe even Skype. If you can afford to meet each other in person a couple of times a year and if your partner actually shows up at the airport meeting you, then it can all work for sure.

I don’t see how it wouldn’t work, ya know? People online are real people and the internet is the real world if you think about it. I have talked to plenty of women online from other states and even from other countries. They can actually be pretty cool. I think it’s interesting interacting with people out of area. Internet dating shouldn’t be that bad as long as you know what you’re doing. Online dating should be no different than dating someone in your hometown.

I used to be against internet dating and long distance relationships, but now I don’t think it’s a problem. Internet dating seems to be the way to go these days. I’ve seen plenty of people get together because of facebook. I guess, that’s part of what facebook is used for.

5 Reasons Why Twitter is the best social networking site…

When I first started twitter, I didn’t get it at first, but as time goes along, you’ll start to like it more. It does take a long while to get used to it. A lot of people would join twitter, then they quit using it right away ’cause they find it boring to them. I’ve gotten to liking twitter more and more.

Here are 5 reasons why it can be cool:

  1. You can interact with people on a personal level: I’m finding that people in twitter can actually be pretty cool. There are friendly people in there. You don’t just have to go on there to promote your careers or whatever, you can go on there and interact with people. It’s a little different than facebook. You can use twitter to speak your mind in just a small sentence or two. Even though speaking your mind will be short and brief, it can go straight to the point and people will get it. If you want to make twitter fun and not boring, that’s your job. You have to make it interesting. If you make your twitter interesting, random people will like what they see and more will follow you.
  2. The celebrities and famous people keep it addicting:  I also like twitter because of the famous people and celebrities that use it. A lot of you would accuse them of not being real, but there are real celebrities using twitter. They prove it by verifying their accounts, linking their twitter pages to their official sites, and they also prove it by posting photos and videos. Some celebrities are on there to promote their careers only, but some interact with their fans on a personal level. You can get responses & follow backs by celebrities if somehow you can grab their attention. It’s hard to grab a celeb’s attention since they get so many followers, but if you’re lucky enough, you could get a response.
  3. It’s easier to fight spam bots and fake accounts – Facebook makes it hard to fight spam but twitter makes it easier. You don’t have to worry about that stuff there. I can tell what’s fake and what’s real.
  4. You can use it to get trending news faster – They’re a great source for breaking news. When something big happens in the news, the trending topics in twitter will help that.
  5. You can use it to get exclusive news from the entertainment industry – Twitter can be useful for good info that goes on in the entertainment world. Celebrities are always giving exclusive news when they have something to announce, a lot of them announce their stuff in twitter first. Then the press will pick it up later. Why do celebs use twitter first to announce news? Because the answer is simple, it’s much faster to get out to the press than facebook. That’s what twitter is used for. It’s for people with big careers in the professional industry, but the site can be used for non-famous people like me, though.

My only gripe with twitter is that I can’t stand the Justin Bieber obsession. Other than that, twitter is a cool site to use.

Thinking about doing a “movie of the day” topic…

I’m thinking about doing a daily, “Movie of the Day” topic, where I’ll make a post talking about a film that I like. Not just one genre, all of them. It can be a movie of all time, not just new releases. Just talk about the story and what I like about it. Post a few photos of the film and maybe a few videos too. I think it’ll be fun and this should be able to show off my knowledge with films even more. You’ll be surprised of how many movies I’ve seen and know about. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen plenty of films that no one else has seen. I’ll start this Daily movie of the day topic tomorrow. I’ll pick something good. It’ll be something similar I did with the Greatest Horror Films of all Time back in Halloween, but a little different.

My favorite song off the new Bowie album, so far…

Like I said before, the new Bowie album is a celebration of his career. The new album covers all styles of music that he has done in the past like rock, pop, dance, techno/electronica, etc. Everything’s on there. It feels like a greatest hits album almost, but with new original music, instead. It is a pretty strong album, and I’m feeling that this is going to be the best album of 2013. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. I’ll be buying the CD ’cause I want the cover art and all that stuff. I’m not gonna buy it off of Itunes.

This is a pretty sick song below. This song kinda goes back to his glitter rock days. I love Bowie’s vocals, he sounds angry throughout. Yeah, I’m a Bowie fanatic. Loved his music for years.

About Obama’s controversial Jedi Mind-Meld comment…

JediaMindMeld

I haven’t been following the President’s “Sequester” and budget cut stuff, ’cause all that is a load of crock, and I’m tired of Obama and his bullshit. He continues to prove himself that he is not qualified for the President’s job. During the press conference, not only that he pissed off the Republicans, he also pissed off the Star Wars and Star Trek community by saying this: ““Even though most people agree… I’m presenting a fair deal, the fact that they don’t take it means that I should somehow do a Jedi mind-meld with these folks and convince them to do what’s right,” Read more about it, here.

I know he didn’t mean it, and it was a mistake, since he wasn’t reading off a teleprompter but that just shows that he is crap at speaking. He maybe good at reading, but take the teleprompter away from him, he is horrible and you can’t understand a word he’s saying.

I think what he really meant was that he was referring to, “Vulcan Mind Meld“, somehow he thought it was a Star Wars thing. To those who aren’t into Star Trek that much, if you don’t know what a mind meld is, it’s a power that is used for Vulcan’s only. You know how when Spock goes up to somebody and puts his hand on someone’s face? That’s a mind meld. It’s a power to exchange people’s thoughts. I understand Obama’s point bringing Mind Meld into this, but bringing Jedi into it by mistake will just get him in trouble.

Plus, what he said about Republicans is even more offensive. He wants the Republicans to side with him and we shouldn’t have to. It should be our right.

Obama’s a piece of shit.

I just made Rowdy Roddy Piper laugh, check it out…

Wrestling legend Rowdy Roddy Piper, announced that he is in Hollywood for something and he put up a joke that if anyone takes a pic of him getting in trouble, he would pay them a 100 dollars. I replied back saying that if he got in trouble in Hollywood, it would land on TMZ before anyone else got to it. He replied back saying what I said was real funny.

Check out our short conversation on twitter, here.

That is really Roddy’s account ’cause it’s verified and that page is posted to his official site, so it can prove it’s really him.

This is why twitter rules folks. It’s the celebrities and famous people that keep it addicting. I’ll have more on twitter soon.

How I would become a professional movie critic and get paid for it…

So if I ever decided to do it. How would I become a professional movie critic and make a living off of it? How would I become the next Roger Ebert? Well, for starters, I would need to get a degree in journalism and I need to study English and Grammar. I would like to go back to school and do that sometime, but I can’t right at this moment. I could however, try to write movie reviews for a local paper, that would be a pretty good start? Maybe for the Times Union or something?

Anyway, if nothing happens, at all, I’ll just continue to do what I do here on my site, talk about movies and review them. I still seem to be doing a good job talking about movies online, even though when I don’t get paid for it. I get a lot of positive feedback, people telling me that they love my movie discussions and reviews. People don’t just give me positive feedback on my movie reviews online. I get a lot of people telling me in person, and they say they follow all of my movie stuff. I’ve gotten a lot of people to watch movies they never heard and got people into watching TV shows ’cause of what I do on here and facebook. I even gotten a shout out by the Metroland years back ’cause of this stuff and they still support me to this day.

Hey, that’s another idea, I can send contributions to the Metroland, and maybe they would be up for it. I can submit my movie reviews to them and maybe they would get published on their Thursday papers. I’ll take that into consideration and give it a try. They’re big fans of my writing, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t want me to write articles to them. Maybe I can write a weekly movie column to the Metroland, that would be pretty cool.

How do I know so much about the movie industry?

Well, I’ve been a movie buff for years. Pretty much my whole life. I try to watch all the classics as much as I can and I try to watch all the new stuff as much as I can. I know who the directors are, even producers, and I know who all the actors are. I even know what goes on behind the scenes of films and how they make movies. I even do a lot of reading about the movie industry through books & magazines, the internet.

I’m just huge a lover of films, and Hollywood. I even wanted to get into screenwriting and film making myself a little, it’s true. I love talking about movies. I don’t feel ashamed of talking about nothing but movies to other people, and I’ll never get bored of it. I don’t feel bad at all collecting a lot of DVD’s and BluRays. Well, I haven’t been buying much DVD’s anymore since the BluRay market is so huge. I’ve been getting into BluRay more.

Movies has always been a huge part of my life. That’s why I was glad to visit Hollywood, California at one time, ’cause that was amazing to see all that. I got to see Hollywood Blvd, the Chinese Grauman Theater, the Walk of Fame, and the Hollywood Sign. All of it. That’s when I got big into Marilyn Monroe. While I love to watch all kinds of films pretty much everything. My most watched genres are action, horror, and drama films.

I need to be inspired. So I feel the need to learn about Hollywood and films as much as I could, every detail. The story, characters, the behind the scene stuff, etc. If you want to be a movie buff, you need to learn it all.

It’s part of the reason why I’m on twitter. There’s so many actors and directors with their own official twitter pages, they show off a lot of cool stuff and give you exclusive news.

Speaking of movies, I’m about to watch, “Beasts of the Southern Wild” tonight, a Netflix DVD rental. I watched, “The Bourne Legacy”, a few nights ago and it was actually pretty good.
