Metallica in Albany last night…

So last night, I went to the Times Union Center to see Metallica. First I’d like to say that I think this was the best concert I’ve ever seen. It’s definitely one to remember.

The opening acts were a band called Volbeat, which they are an out of country band, they came all the way from Copenhagen, Denmark. They were actually very good too. I enjoyed them. They are a metal band but they also put some punk rock and rockabilly into the mix. The crowd seem to love the band as they gave Volbeat a good response.

Seeing Lamb of God, who are mainstream icons, they’re on tour in support of their new album, “Wrath”. The guys were really there, Randy Blythe the singer, Mark Morton and Willie Adler, the two fully bearded long-haired guitarists, drummer Chris Adler, and John Campbell the bass player were all on stage. They were mostly performing songs from their last two records, “Sacrament” and “Wrath”. Lamb of God is a band I’ve admired for a long while. I was really impressed with their performance. Very tight and they put on an entertaining show. Although I’ll be honest with Randy, all he did was scream and growl, so you could barely hear his vocals. Randy has good stage presence and he likes audience participation as he was trying to get the audience to make some noise for Metallica. If the crowd noise isn’t loud enough he’ll say, “You all sound like a bunch of fucking pussies, how about a little louder for Metallica?”

Before Metallica hits the stage, the lights went dark, and classical music started. It was the opening intro from the “S&M” live album, the instrumental intro titled, “Ecstasy of Gold” started the show. Then the band kicked it right off, with “That Was Just Your Life” a song from their new record “Death Magnetic”. All the guys were on stage in person, Hetfield, Hammet, Ulrich, and Trujillo. They were putting on good light shows. Using smoke machines, flame throwers from the floor, etc. Doing it all.

There was a mosh pit going, the moshers were going pretty wild…later in the band’s set during the song “Sad But True”, I think that’s when the mosh pit got way out of hand the most. Pretty much the entire audience on the floor were going crazy. Pushing everyone around and crowd surfing, all that. There were huge muscle guys in the pit, throwing everyone around at random.

Metallica definitely sang live and played their instruments live, they don’t fake anything at concerts. On stage there were microphones on each corner, so the audience all around can get a chance to view the members up close. That’s why each band that played had to use wireless instruments.

The Metallica show was mostly greatest hits show, and played a few songs from their new album “Death Magnetic”, but this was an amazing show. Seeing Metallica on TV was one thing, but if you see them live in person, you’ll see that they are the greatest live performers on Earth.

Metallica’s setlist from last night in Albany, Nov. 12th:

  • That Was Just Your Life
  • The End of the Line
  • Ride the Lightning
  • The Memory Remains
  • One
  • Broken, Beat, and Scarred
  • Cyanide
  • Sad But True
  • Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
  • All Nightmare Long
  • The Day That Never Comes
  • Master of Puppets
  • Battery
  • Nothing Else Matters
  • Enter Sandman
  • Encore

  • Stone Cold Crazy – a cover by Queen
  • Motorbreath
  • Seek & Destroy
  • I’m glad they played, “The Memory Remains”. That’s one of my favorite tunes by them. The sing along to that one by the audience was amazing. That strange chant they do that was created by the great, Marianne Faithful, who sang the song on the CD. They don’t play that song on their tours too much either, and I’m happy they choose Albany to play it.

They recorded the show live, I remember Hetfield saying they were. It’ll be on their MetallicaLive site probably, but you’ll have to pay for it of course to download that show.

I’m glad I finally get to see a band I’ve admired for years. They are heros of mine, I don’t care what the haters say. Metallica is not for everyone, but they did a lot to get where they are today, and now they are Hall of Famers. This will be a show to remember, indeed! I love Metallica!!!

Not a Cool Video: Carrie Prejean aka bitch to Larry King…

I gotta hand it to Perez Hilton. Ever since this controversy started back in the Miss USA days when this whole Perez vs. Carrie feud started, I used to think Carrie deserves her freedom of speech and her opinions about whatever she wants, but I’m gonna go back on Perez’s side. He’s doing a great job telling the public of what kind of woman Carrie Prejean is. Perez is getting my respect again.

Carrie is getting worse and worse in the media, Perez is doing a good thing exposing her.

Watch this disastrous interview on Larry King. Larry is trying to be a nice guy, he is accused of being inappropriate when she is the one being inappropriate and rude. Larry should have walked over and smacked her across the face.

Report: Sly will NOT be doing the silly sci-fi plot where Rambo hunts down an inhuman beast…

Sylvester Stallone, wrote an open letter to Stallonezone fans, announcing that he has changed the story to, “Rambo V”. Sly says to his fans that he won’t be doing the plot mixed with sci-fi, where Rambo hunts down this half human and half monster.

Sly is doing the plot where Rambo goes to a border to find missing women that disappeared from America. He’s going back to the plot idea he had before.

    Read it here:

    http://stallonezone.com/wordpress/?p=1847

Sly obviously reads the internet, quite a lot if he is sitting here reading feedback by people. Sly said in the letter he is a supporter of the Stallonezone fan site, so he obviously reads the message board daily, noticing he says, “Szoners”.

I like the finding missing women plot better than the sci fi idea. I like both plot ideas, but Rambo finding missing women seems more realistic though.

I’m glad Sly says there will be blood and it’s going to be a hard R rating like the last Rambo.

Sly’s a good man, he knows what his fans wants and I love how he pays attention to them!

Report: Steven Tyler showed up at Joe Perry solo gig uninvited…

On that video where Steven Tyler showed up at the end of Joe Perry’s solo gig, do you think that was planned? Did Joe Perry himself invite Steven to the stage? Nope. Think again.

Perry never invited him to the show. He just came. Steven definitely was drunk or something ’cause he was acting weird in that video. I think his ego got in the way that he wanted to take over Joe Perry’s set….but, Joe Perry didn’t seem to mind. In this article, Joe said he let Steven sing, just to be nice.

Even though Steven says he’s not leaving Aerosmith, things haven’t changed with Joe Perry’s feelings on him. Joe is still upset with him.

Cool Video: Steven Tyler confirms he isn’t leaving Aerosmith at Joe Perry’s solo gig in NYC…

Joe Perry’s solo band performed a gig in NYC, at the end of Perry’s set… Steven Tyler showed up on stage out of no where. After weeks and weeks of news reports with Joe Perry telling the media that Steven Tyler is leaving Aerosmith, Steven Tyler wanted to confirm the news isn’t true himself in person and not directly to the media. Steven wanted to let the fans know that he isn’t leaving Aerosmith. The man said so himself in this video below.

Notice while they were performing, “Walk this Way”, Steven is taking it easy on the dancing this time. He’s not dancing as much. He is mostly standing while singing. Yep, Steven is learning.

Report: Dolph Lundgren in talks to have some type of role in “Conan”, whether it’ll be a cameo, supporting role or the lead…

Like I said, Dolph being in Stallone’s, “The Expendables” will give him a lot of opportunities, and it’s already happening for Dolph. Dolph announced that he is in talks with the producers of Conan, saying that he may get some type of role. He refuses to say which role he will be getting. Whether it will be a tiny cameo, or a supporting role, or even the lead. Dolph can even get signed on as Conan, the main character himself. It’s too early to say.

Dolph wouldn’t be a bad Conan, but I think this movie is aimed for a younger Conan. I’d say make Dolph as the main villain in the new “Conan”.

I’m happy for Dolph that his career is already getting good. After “The Expendables” is released, his straight to DVD nightmare will finally be over for him. It’s going to be great to see Dolph back on the big screen and not on the small screen. 🙂

Report: Dwight Schultz to have cameo in new, “A-Team” movie…

In the upcoming new, “A-Team” flick, we knew that one of the original A-Team cast will have a cameo. It turns out that Dwight Schultz who played the original Murdock from the TV series will be having a cameo in the movie.

In the pics above, there he is with a before and after pic, of what he looked like back in his younger days, and what he looks like now.

Report: JJ Abrams changes his mind about working on Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” series into films, he won’t be doing them…

A long while back, JJ Abrams said he was talking about wanting to make the “Dark Tower” novel series into films by Stephen King. It seems that JJ changed his mind and said he won’t be doing them. The reasons?

JJ admits he was overwhelmed by the six years of working on “Lost”, he refuses to do another 7 years working on the “Dark Tower” series. Keep in mind there are a total of 7 “Dark Tower” series. I have them all and read them all.

JJ says, he will be willing to see, “The Dark Tower” movies made by someone else, but it won’t be him, since he is a Stephen King fanatic.

    From MTV News:

    http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2009/11/10/jj-abrams-will-not-be-building-his-dark-tower/

That really sucks. I was hoping JJ would stick with them. Oh well. I’m sure there are other good directors that would take over. Directors that I think would make great Dark Tower flicks: Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson, and Sam Raimi.

Please, just stay away from Brett Ratner and Michael Bay.

If these Dark Tower series can’t be made into movies at all, why not make them into video games instead? If you read the books, you can easily see that these would make great video games for the Ps3/Xbox.

Cool Video: “Clash of the Titans” movie, I once trashed this remake, now I’m looking forward to it!!!

I remember I keep trashing this movie, saying that there is no need for a “Clash of the Titans”, remake since the original is so good. Now I say, bring on the remake! The trailer surfaced the internets. Here it is. Enjoy. I fuckin’ loved the trailer. Felt goosebumps. The movie looks freakin’ sweet and now I’m excited to see this. Consider me at the theaters for this film, definitely!

This film looks way better than the overrated, “300” movie.
