Report: Krist Novaselic of Nirvana finally explains the bass throwing controversy at the 1992 MTV Music Video Awards on his blog after all these years!!!

Krist Novaselic, the former bass player of Nirvana looks back at the Nirvana performance taken place at the 1992 MTV Music Video Awards. He finally explains the secrets behind that performance 16 years later.

He says, while Nirvana was waiting backstage for their performance that night, Krist explains that Axl Rose was being a dick to Kurt and Courtney, when Courtney tried to praise Axl for Guns N’ Roses by saying “Axl, you’re the godfather”, Axl ignored them and walked off like if he didn’t care if Kurt and Courtney were fans of Gn’r.

When it was time for Nirvana to finally hit the stage, Kurt badily wanted to play “Rape Me” off the “In Utero” album. The MTV officials weren’t liking the idea and wouldn’t let the band play the song, so the band decided to play “Lithium” instead. Remember that performance when Kurt started playing chords to “Rape Me”, then they kicked off to “Lithium”? Many people assumed that was a mistake. That’s the trick, it wasn’t a mistake, it was a prank played by the band. A little joke.

Krist then explains, the reason Krist threw the bass in the air was not because it would be cool for the performance. He did it because he was angry and frustrated that he couldn’t hear his bass while playing the song. When the bass came down and landed on his head, he was actually faking it and pretended to be knocked out when he landed on the floor. Krist was fine when it happened although he did have a little blood coming down his forehead.

I miss the old days of the classic MTV Video Awards during the 90’s. That’s when the MTV Video Awards were really good back in those days. Today’s MTV Video Awards are obviously crap. It’s good to see Krist open up more about the Nirvana past. I enjoy hearing old Nirvana stories from Krist and Dave Grohl.

Kurt Cobain would be proud for Dave for the Foo Fighters.

Report: Jason Bourne to become the next James Bond? Universal Studios scores rights to Matt Damon’s iconic character…

Universal Pictures has made an overall deal with author Robert Ludlum that gives them the right to make any Jason Bourne movie based on his books and gives them the right to make films on his other novels too. Ludlum Entertainment gave Universal the go ahead to continue the Jason Bourne saga.

The series was originally supposed to be a three part trilogy but since the “Bourne Ultimatum’s” huge success, they decided to get right to work on a fourth installment. The 4th Bourne will be an original story, it won’t be adapted from one of Ludlum’s novels. Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are still on board for a 4th Bourne, the film is confirmed for a summer of 2010 release.

Although there are only 6 novels in the Jason Bourne series written by Ludlum, Universal feels they can keep the stories going.

What do you think? You think Jason Bourne can take the spotlight of James Bond in the future? Universal wants to keep Jason Bourne going forever. Matt Damon can’t play the character forever so obviously there will be different actors playing the character whenever Damon hangs it up.

While I did like “The Bourne Identity” and “The Bourne Supremacy”, those are good movies, I think “The Bourne Ultimatum” is the best of the three. It’s very rare to me when I think a third sequel of a trilogy is the best of the three. “The Bourne Ultimatum” is an amazing action flick, such a thrill ride with incredible action sequences throughout the entire film, non stop.

I hope the 4th Bourne will be even more action packed.

Report: World of Warcraft’s new game “Wrath of the Lich King” breaks records in sales in the PC-CDROM industry…

PC-CDROM games are no longer popular anymore as they once were but the “World of Warcraft” games are still going strong in sales. While the game only costs around $40 in video game stores everywhere, the new game “Wrath of the Lich King” expansion pack has made a whopping $100 million or more at more than 2.8 million units. “World of Warcraft” is the most popular PC-CDROM game franchise, the series been around for years.

I used to play PC-CDROM games all the time when I was younger, but since CDROM games are no longer popular, it’s what made me go to the PS3 instead.

“World of Warcraft” games are fun though, I played the older “Warcraft” games before.

I’d love to play this new one but my computer is not that big enough to play videogames and all. I’ll just wait for it to come out for the PS3 if they release it for that system.

CD Review: Guns N’ Roses “Chinese Democracy”

Many music fans are trashing the new Guns N’ Roses album “Chinese Democracy” after the band premiering the album in their official myspace page. A lot of people are saying the album is “shit”, “we waited for 14 years for this garbage”, etc. I don’t know if the haters listened to the same record or not, but I thought the album was extremely impressive. I think the 14 years was worth the wait, indeed. Sure, the album does not have the original lineup with Slash, Duff McKagan, etc. but who cares? I personally think the new band defines what Guns N’ Roses is supposed to be.

The songs on the new album, are incredibly tight, Axl sings with a lot of “emotion” and the songs have that intense “in your face” power. There is electronica added to the mix, which what makes the new songs sound different. Axl wanted a different style of Guns N’ Roses. The new Guns N’ Roses sound, not the old sound. It is not the 80’s anymore and the band is evolving with a new sound. Axl’s vocals still hasn’t changed a bit, he still sings like he did back in the earlier days and Axl is still bringing in slow piano ballads as he has always done in the earlier Guns N’ Roses records.

The guitar solos of Bumblefoot is sick and totally knocks me out, I never heard the guy before, and the guy is just amazing. I love the guitar solos on the disc. While I love the entire album, the songs that floored me are: “If the World”, “Catcher In the Rye”, “Madagascar”, “Better”, “Sorry” and “This I Love”.

To those negative people out there trashing the album, you can’t just give the album one quick listen. Just carefully listen to it, and you would see that Axl worked hard on these songs over the years, you would see how amazing they are. It’s a beautiful album. I loved it. Definitely one of the best albums of 2008 and I’ll definitely get my own copy of the album soon. I won’t buy it right away though, ’cause I can’t buy anymore things for myself since the Holidays is just around the corner. I just wrote this album on my Christmas wishlist as a gift from family members so hopefully I’ll get this album under the tree.

I don’t see how anybody could hate this fantastic record. Chinese Democracy definitely adds to the list of Best albums of 2008. The reason Axl took this long because he wanted to take his time with the songs to make it a real good one and I can’t blame him. He wants to make a great record and in order to make a great record with great songs, you must take your time with them.

Score for Guns N’ Roses “Chinese Democracy” = **** (4 stars as in excellent)

Report: John McCain fights back at Jackson Browne, feud over “Running On Empty” song heats up!!!

The McCain camp is fighting back at Jackson Browne in defense of McCain’s use of Browne’s hit song “Running on Empty” during the Elections. If you read the court documents TMZ posted, the McCain camp is begging for a lawsuit dissmisal and they defend their use of the song.

They claim that Browne failed to prove how this is infriging his copyright to the song without use of permission and they also prove in the response that McCain had every right to use the song whenever he wanted. They also blame Browne for attacking McCain with this just so Browne can promote his new album. They say that using iconic songs for public use is not copyright infrigement.

I’ve said it once before and will say it again, you don’t want to mess with John McCain.

I will see “Twilight” Friday afternoon…

“Twilight” film finally comes out this Friday. I will go to the Wilton Mall to see it Friday afternoon on opening day.

While I’m sure there will be a bunch of teenage girls in line waiting to see the movie, I don’t care. As I always say, I don’t care what age limits the films are aimed at. I’ll go see any film that grabs my attention. No matter what genre and no matter what kind of film it is. If other people make fun of me for getting into stuff like this, I don’t care about that either. I like what I want.

I will post a review of this film. It’ll probably end up being a good film and I hope the film stays true to the novel and doesn’t change the story. The Twilight series is not just a teen romance, it has everything for everyone in it: romance, drama, horror, even violent action scenes, etc. The movie will be fun and enjoyable.

For you fathers out there who have teenagers as your kids, take your kids with ya to see this film. Even all the dads out there would probably like it. So far, the critics are giving the film positive reviews. I’m looking forward to seeing it.
