Confirmed: The 43 year running soap “Days of Our Lives” will be on air for another 18 months!!!

Like sands through the hour glass, so are the Days of Our Lives. It’s official!!!! NBC has inked a deal with Sony Pictures TV so “Days of Our Lives”, the longest running soap opera in TV history to stay on the air for 18 more months. Before then, the show had trouble staying on the air, as the show came this close to getting cancelled for good due to low ratings and the economics fo daytime TV.

While there are other soaps on TV such as “Young and the Restless”, “As the World Turns”, “One Life To Live”, “General Hospital”, etc. “Days of Our Lives” was the first soap opera to stay on TV for this long. “Dool” has been on the air for 43 years and they are celebrating their 43rd Anniversary.

The show currently stars: Allison Sweeney, James Scott, Peter Reckell. Joseph Mascolo, Kristian Alfonso, Stephen Nichols, Mary Beth Evans, Bryan Dattilo, Jay Kenneth Johnson, Drake Hogestyn, Deidre Hall, and more.

As an avid fan of the show, I’ve been watching for a long time…I can see why the show has almost gotten cancelled a few times. Simply because the storylines and the writing of the show is getting so bad.

Last year, the show was really great. Last year had the huge vendetta storyline with the Dimeras vs. The Bradys. That’s when Stefano Dimera was in a murderous and kidnapping rage. Last year Stefano kidnapped Steve “Patch” Johnson (the guy with the eye patch on his head) and Stefano kidnapped John Black as well and took away his memory to make him a different person. Last year we had the controversial John Black death storyline and now the writers brought the character back due to many fanbase complaints. The character of EJ Wells was an evil guy before, but now they turned him to a good guy which is boring. Last year the show was really interesting and good but this year, I’m thinking to stop watching the show for a while.

Too many stupid pregnancy storylines and too many who fathered this baby shit, two many love triangle fueds, etc. There is just nothing interesting going on. Currently there are two murder “who done it storylines” and they aren’t even catching my attention. One murder storyline is that Salem is trying to find out who killed a character named Trent Robbins and who killed the Mayor of Salem. The writing is really bad. Dena Higley is the current writer now.

I feel they are ruining their 43 year Anniversary ’cause they are writing all this crap. It looks like they are turning Stefano into a good guy too and I don’t want that. The Stefano Dimera return got interesting for a little bit but it got bad fast.

Come on writers, shape up to make your 43 Year Anniversary worth while. Bring back the actors who were vets and stop giving all these kids so much screen time.

Report: Mayor of Batman, Turkey sues Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan for “The Dark Knight”…

Did you know that there is a city named Batman in this world? Yes, it’s true. In the country of Turkey, there is a city there that is mostly an oil-producing city. The mayor is suing Christopher Nolan the director and Warner Bros. studios accusing them of using the Batman name without the city’s permission. The mayor is also blaming them for the high number of unsolved murders and female suicides in the city since the film’s huge success. The mayor will also try to prove that the city of Batman, Turkey predates the 1939 debut of Bob Kane’s superhero in DC comics.

Warner Bros. responded back saying they are only aware of this claim via the press, they have not yet seen any actual legal action by the mayor of Batman, Turkey.

This lawsuit won’t even go through. It’s also pretty lame and stupid. And on top of that, I don’t think it’s against the legal copyright laws to use the same town/city name as a fictional character.

Report: Roger Moore bashes the new Bond films with Daniel Craig…

A former James Bond star, Roger Moore, said he has seen the new Bond flick “Casino Royale” but he has not yet seen the new one “Quantum of Solace”. Moore says he isn’t impressed with them at all. He said he hated how the films has turned violent and graphic, he explains how that is NOT James Bond.

He says positive things about the new James Bond actor, that man is Daniel Craig. He says Daniel IS Bond. Moore just doesn’t want the new films to be so violent. The earlier James Bond flicks were violent sure but they weren’t as graphic as “Casino Royale” and “Quantum” was. The earlier Bond flicks were family friendly, the newer Bond flicks with Daniel Craig are aiming more toward the adult audience.

Roger Moore played James Bond pretty much throughout the 70’s and most of the 80’s, Moore starred in the 007 films such as “The Man With the Golden Gun”, “A View To Kill”, “The Spy Who Loved Me”, “Moonraker”, etc.

More on it here:

http://www.reuters.com/article/entertainmentNews/idUSTRE4AA63P20081111

“Quantum of Solace” comes out this Friday night, don’t know if I’ll see it in theater or not. I’ll probably wait for DVD on this one, not sure. I’m more interested in seeing “Twilight” than this one though.

But as far as Roger Moore’s comments on the new films goes, I don’t agree with him. I’ve seen “Casino Royale” and the violence in that film is not as bad and graphic as he claims. Maybe he is just old and not used to today’s violent films just yet. In “Casino Royale” there is only one scene that is very graphic when James Bond is captured by badguys and he is getting violently tortured by them. That’s the only graphic scene out of the whole movie but other than that, the rest of the film isn’t that bad. The violence in the rest of “Casino Royale” is similar to the older flicks.

Report: Springsteen to premiere new song “Working on a Dream” at the Superbowl halftime performance…

Springsteen and the E Street Band will debut the new song “Working On a Dream” at the Superbowl halftime performance on Nov. 16th this coming Sunday evening. The song has not been played anywhere and it has not even hit radio yet, the song will be unleashed exclusively at the Superbowl with the Cowboys vs. the Redskins.

Billboard reports:

Other songs I think Springsteen and the E Street band will play, I’ve made my predictions before but since they confirmed this song, I have a feeling Springsteen will play “Born in the USA”, “Thunder Road”, “Radio Nowhere” and maybe “Dancing In the Dark”. He’s obviously going to be playing his biggest hits so the audience can get wild during halftime.

I want to be respected for my music, not just for my internet personality…

In the Capital District, I know I am mostly known for my blogging and my internet personality, I really haven’t quite gotten my music out there yet. My goal has always been known to trying to get noticed as a musician in the Capital District area too. I know I have loyal fans that come to see my shows and I know some people out there even other local musicians say that I’m one of the best solo performers in the area.

I think the main problem on why I haven’t gotten noticed as a musician and singer/songwriter yet, is that I haven’t released an actual studio album on CD yet. You know, an actual album with CD cover art and a booklet, all that stuff. All the solo musicians and bands have made a CD, but the rest of you wonder why I haven’t put one out yet.

I’m actually thinking about making that happen. I’m thinking about wanting it to happen. But if it does happen, it probably won’t be a Kev Brock solo CD. It’ll probably be a full band electric guitar CD, songs that is full of hard rock n’ roll with kick ass riffin and jamming all the way through, a CD I’ve always wanted to make. I’ll probably have a band name too, and you guess it, I want to get my own rock n’ roll band going sometime down the road.

If I put out a CD, then I’ll have a better chance in getting that CD reviewed in local papers and it’ll help me become established more music wise. I’ll probably just form a three piece band, so I can do all the guitar work, lead and rhythym, all of it. Then play some full band shows in support of it.

I’m kind of gettin’ tired of the acoustic solo thing and want to try the full band thing to see how that goes. In 2009 after Christmas is over with, I plan to start searching for musicians to record with. I want to become part of the full band scene in the area and want to make it happen this time around.

Report: Even our new President reads the “Twilight” series…

Yep, you heard that right. While President Obama is hard at work preparing for the economy and counting down to his White House inauguration in Jan, Obama finds time to spend with his family in between. He is currently reading the 4 “Twilight” books to his youngest daughter Malia. He seems to enjoy the books and probably will see the movie as well.

MTV Movies Blog reports:

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/11/10/president-elect-obama-reads-twilight-so-is-he-team-edward-or-team-jacob/

Movie comes out next Friday. I’ll be seeing it myself and looking forward to seeing the film.

The reason I love the Twilight books so much is I love how the vampire characters are the heros of these series, not the evil villains that most vampire films/books make ’em out to be. The “Twilight” vampire series is so different than most vampire stories out there. I would strongly reccomend you see the film and you would see what I mean.

Don’t worry about the age of the audience where the film/book is aimed mostly at, teens. Age is just a fucking number, you’re never too old to read any book or see any film. I’ve known adults older than me that were into fucking Pokemon and fucking Spongebob for christ sakes.

Confirmed: Jaden Smith (Will Smith’s son) to star in “Karate Kid” remake…

Jaden Smith, who is the real life son of iconic actor Will Smith, is set to star the leading role in “The Karate Kid” remake. Yes, Jaden Smith is confirmed to play the Daniel Laruso character in his version of “The Karate Kid”. Jaden Smith’s character probably won’t have the Daniel Laruso name since Jaden is black, so the writers will probably give the leading character a new name to be more fitting.

The film is being written by Chris Murphy and the remake will have the similar plot from the original version, a film about a young boy who moves to a different town with his mother, gets bullied by older kids just for going after a love interest and he learns to defend himself by learning karate from a martial arts master. Look like this remake will be aimed toward the black community kind of like “The Wiz” being remade from “The Wizard of Oz” as an example.

Will we get a cameo by Ralph Macchio in a different role in the remake? Maybe Macchio will even be Jaden’s trainer in the film? They better give Macchio a role in this film ’cause the film will probably bomb if Macchio isn’t in it. Ralph Macchio is a full grown adult now (he’s in his 40’s now believe it or not, he’s no kid anymore), he doesn’t do acting anymore, but mostly directing films but it’s appropriate if he appears in the remake.

I love the Karate Kid movies. I like all three of them. I don’t like the 4th one with Hillary Swank though.

Report: Smashing Pumpkins booed in their two day NYC show…

The Smashing Pumpkins played a  two night show in NYC at a club and a bit of controversy sparked while there. Billy Corgan and the band were booed by the fans. Not only that, a fan from the crowd got on stage, speaking through the mic, harrasing Billy Corgan about how much their show sucked because the band Smashing Pumpkins hardily ever played their biggest hits played on the radio. The Pumpkins mostly played their obscure material, in other words, songs that aren’t hits. That’s what the fans were upset at the band about.

Blabbermouth reports:

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=108618

In defense for Billy and the band, the fans are just being whiny pussies. This is why the major label industry sucks. Most of the so called fans only want to hear the “hits” at concerts. They seem to get bored at any obscure song being played by a band, any band, not just the Pumpkins.

Understand the truth, music fans. Bands play what they fuckin’ want to play at their shows. It’s their show, their music. Don’t like it? Then why did you go? I personally love it when bands play obscure and not well known songs at their concerts. In fact, I would be bored to death if a band played nothing but hit songs you hear 20 times a day on the radio. It’s good to have a variety of setlists at your shows. Bands simply don’t want to be playing the same damn songs at every show and that’s where the Pumpkins come from.

I go to a band concert to hear music and enjoy myself. I don’t care what song a band or artist plays, I just want to hear them playing live. That’s the Pumpkins job. They are a live band. The Pumpkins didn’t do anything wrong here. Just fans whining. That’s all I’m seeing.

Billy said so himself, the 20 year Anniversary of the Smashing Pumpkins is a celebration of where the band is, not where they’ve been. Meaning that the tour is supposed to celebrate the music of the Pumpkins of the last 20 years, it is not about their mainstream success. Which means you won’t be hearing a lot of radio hits of the Pumpkins on this tour and Billy admits this will take a lot of heat from the fans by saying “Enjoy if you will, we realize it’s not for everybody”. Makes perfectly sense to me.

Those “fans” are not actual fans of the Smashing Pumpkins, they are probably radio fanboys that want to hear nothing but hit songs. A true Smashing Pumpkins fan would let the band play whatever they wanted. Fuck the hits. I want to hear the music, like a piece of art and experiencing the buzz of a live performance, that’s what it’s all about.
