I'm a musician, singer/songwriter, blogger, writer, poet, bodybuilder, movie lover, music lover, video gamer, history/political buff, conservative/republican, etc. I like to do a lot of things.

I’m not surprised by the Suge Knight and Chris Brown shooting…

I don’t care how big, famous and legendary Suge Knight is. The guy is a criminal and a lowlife loser with so many problems. Even though that party was hosted by Chris Brown, I wouldn’t exactly blame the shooting on Chris Brown though. When you have a big party full of celebrities, rappers and music stars and Suge Knight is there… you should be prepared for a big shoot out. Everywhere Suge Knight goes there’s trouble. The guy has dealt with so much violence and crime over the years… which goes way back to the deaths of rappers 2PAC and Notorious B.I.G. I can’t understand why they would invite Suge Knight to that party to begin with. If he wasn’t there, I’m sure there wouldn’t have been any violence. Again, I’m not blaming Chris Brown… it’s all about Suge. I never liked the guy and you shouldn’t trust him.

I can’t understand why Suge gets so much support from fans and all that stuff when he has done so many bad things over the years. The guy’s a drug addict, a woman beater and all kinds of problems.

Last night’s “Dr. Who” w/ Peter Capaldi was really good!!!

Yes, I watched the 2 hour season premiere of the new “Dr. Who” last night with Peter Capaldi and loved it. The stories and the characters were great. I know I’m pretty late getting into the new “Dr. Who” but I’m gonna have to catch up with the new series that is on Netflix. The new “Dr. Who” series on Netflix that goes from 2005 to today.

On Netflix, I was watching the old-school “A-Team” show but I think I’m gonna take a break from that and start the new “Dr. Who” on Netflix. Maybe I’ll start watching the new “Dr. Who” tonight ’cause I never saw the new series before.

I used to watch the old series all the time when I was a kid, though.

Sarah Palin just did her Ice Bucket, why did she have to rip off George W’s idea???

Come on, Sarah, can you come up with something original? While it looked like at first Sarah wasn’t gonna get water dumped on her head and write a check at first… of course, someone dumped water on her head at the end of the video… kind of like the George W. Bush one.

Did she really challenge Hillary Clinton? I am also 100% positive that when Hillary does her ice bucket, that video will go viral and get the most views.

This is what’s gonna look like when Hillary does the ice bucket…

Patrick Stewart finally did his ice bucket challenge and he did the best one, I think…

Patrick Stewart who is famous for Cpt. Picard and Professor X just did the best ice bucket. Just like with Charlie Sheen, Patrick is another one who just gave the message that you don’t need to dump water on your head in order to donate.

While I do think dumping water on your head is funny, I don’t think I’ll do it either. I’m just gonna make a quick video giving a shout-out to Jason Becker, that’s all I’m gonna do, I think.

17 Things That Local Band’s Don’t Get… I agree with most of this…

I was just googling information on local bands and I came across this interesting list and I agree with most of it. Check it out and see for yourself…

http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/permalink/2014/02/27/17-things-local-bands-just-dont-get

My response to the ones that I agree with the most:

1. Trashing other bands in your scene isn’t hurting their rep. It’s hurting yours.

Yes. This has been a huge problem for years in local music. Bands talking trash about other bands and musicians in your music scenes. Bands do this stuff all the time in all music scenes but band and musician bashing is a lot worse in Albany though. I used to trash talk other bands & musicians publicly a long time ago but I don’t do that anymore. I regretted it and stopped doing it. Yes, there are other bands & musicians that I don’t like but I try my best to keep my opinions and thoughts about them to myself. Other bands should follow the same advice. It’s just an unprofessional thing to do to talk bad things about other musicians and that includes when other musicians shit talk me. When other musicians decide to shit talk me publicly and try to make me look bad publicly… they all don’t realize they are hurting themselves. Sad but true.

2. Acting disinterested with folded arms at the back of the room at other bands’ shows does not make you cool. Singing along at the front of the stage does.

I agree with this one too! I have seen plenty of musicians who just hang in the back and sit down with arms folded or have a beer in their hands rather than being in the front of the stage with the crowd. I have seen certain musicians who would watch the band by the side of the stage for a few minutes and then they just leave. I have also seen musicians do much worse things like sit at the bar or hang out outside with their friends smoking cigarettes. They do this stuff as a way to pretend to be a rock star. They’re like, “I’m too important to be up there in front of the stage with the  crowd”.

Look… when a band asks you to open for them or they open a show for you… you definitely got to show your support by not hanging in the back but in the front of the stage with the crowd. Why is this important?

It’s because when another band shows you support, you need to show them support in return. When you play shows with other bands and when you watch the show in the back with your arms folded or drinking beer, the band who booked you will feel like, “This guy doesn’t care. I feel like I booked him for no reason”. You see what I mean? When a band shows you support, you need to return the favor so the band won’t feel disappointed.

3. Looking like a rock star isn’t as important as sounding like one.

Rock on! Image is not important. You don’t need fancy clothes, costumes or gimmicks or fancy hairdo or weird glasses. All you need to wear are blue jeans and a t-shirt. Just be yourself and rock out!!! \m/

5. Being respectful and friendly will take you much further than being superior and entitled.

Yep. Another good one. You can’t beg for respect. It’s gotta be earned. Just be respectful, positive and friendly at all times… you’d be surprised where that takes you. Good things will come out of being positive and leaving your ego at the door.

9. Physical promotional materials are still incredibly important. Get out into the world and put up some posters and hand out some flyers. Don’t spend all of your time on Facebook.

Agreed! Not everyone uses computers or even social networking. When I used to gig all the time in the past, I would do my best to promote all of my gigs. Print out flyers and hang ’em all over town as much as I can. I used to tell people about my gigs all the time. If you ever wonder why nobody goes to your shows, do you think maybe that you don’t promote yourself hard enough? Bands are always crying about how people don’t go to shows but they shouldn’t take it out on other people… they should blame themselves.

10. Facebook is dying. If your entire promotional plan relies on it, you’re doomed.

Indeed. I hate when bands rely on facebook as their official band site. You need to do more. Start a blog, twitter, etc. Whatever. There are tons of ideas to market yourself on the internet. Not everyone uses facebook. Some avoid facebook like the plaque.

14. HOWEVER, when you’re starting off, you need to play out everywhere and anywhere all the time to get practice. Record every show. Once YOU love listening to your live set (and non-friends and non-family tell you they love your band) then you can book real shows and charge a cover.

I like this one. When I used to play out, I used to try to record my live shows as much as possible. Just to listen back to see whether or not I was good or did I suck that night. Listening to your live recordings helps. There are a lot of bands that don’t record all of their gigs. Some do, some don’t. Recording your live gigs help. Whether you record by audio or video either way is cool. Don’t worry about sound quality. That’s not important. I’ve always loved to record my live shows. It’s a good thing to do. I used to have plenty of cassette tapes of my past shows but don’t know what happened to them all.

16. No one in the industry cares about how good your music is. They care about how successful you have become on your own.

Sad but true. Bands are always going off about how they get a lot of gigs and becoming successful because they believe their music is so good. That’s not always true. Venues and clubs don’t care whether or not you are good. Reality check: They only care about how many people you can pull in. They would still book the shittiest bands ’cause they pull in a lot of people. Go figure. If you want the gigs, the good ones, you gotta be able to pull in some people. If they see that you don’t have the draw… if you can only pull in two or three people, you’re done. They won’t book you again. You’re on your own on your promotion. Clubs don’t do it for you. You gotta show them you can be successful.

That little blog above was an interesting read.

I was impressed with the new “Dr. Who” last night…

Last night, on the BBC channel they were showing a Dr. Who marathon to celebrate the new series with Peter Capaldi that will debut on TV tonight which I will probably watch. Last night they were showing a Matt Smith Dr. Who marathon. I caught one episode with Matt Smith as Dr. Who and I was pretty impressed with it. I do know that the Matt Smith version the Eleventh Doctor is on NETFLIX for streamable so I logged into Netflix and put that series in my instant que.

I used to watch Dr. Who all the time when I was younger. They’re great stories.

I’m probably gonna check out the new Dr. Who with Capaldi tonight. I’ll catch up with the Matt Smith series soon.

It’s interesting how the Bergdhal prisoner swap was proven illegal… yet national media ignores it…

So Rick Perry got indicted for vetoing funding ’cause he didn’t want to support a drunk driver became huge national news. Yet, when it was proven by congressional investigators that the Obama/Pentagon prisoner swap between Bergdhal and 5 terrorists was illegal, national news media ignores it. You don’t see the national media (like the Today Show, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, etc.) reporting Obama’s prisoner swap being illegal.

How is that the Rick Perry indictment story became a breaking news story yet every time Obama is proven to have done something illegal, it gets ignored??? Is it because America thinks Conservatives are the bad guys and liberals are the good guys? That’s the way it seems to be in America lately.

I always get accused of siding with Conservatives/republicans ’cause of their political party but it’s not true. There are some conservative politicians who I don’t like and think they are just as criminal. Like Chris Christie for example, I don’t like the bridge stuff that he got himself into. I’m not a fan of Ted Cruz or Speaker John Boehner either. I think Marco Rubio is a scum bag.

Rick Perry; however, is all cool with me. I think there is nothing wrong with him.

I don’t really hate based on their political party and it would be nice if everyone in America would do the same. Quit siding with their political parties and be realistic for once but of course, nobody will.

It’s just strange to me how Conservatives can easily get in trouble and liberals get nothing when both parties do something illegal. While I do admit that some Conservative politicians can be just as corrupt and criminal… liberals are no better. Liberal politicians like Hillary, Nancy Pelosi, Elijah Cummings, Harry Reid, etc. All those assholes need to go but the left sees nothing wrong with them.

When will liberal politicians ever get held accountable for anything??? Will Obama get indicted for the illegal prisoner swap? Will they start impeachment proceedings? Probably not. Conservatives like Rick Perry can get charged and arrested but criminals like Obama, Biden, and Harry Reid will get nothing.

It’s just pathetic really. All of it. It’s pissing me off too.

When will America stop shaming Conservatives ’cause of our right-wing beliefs???

I hate liberalism for a lot of reasons and this is one of them. Conservatives are always looked at as troublemakers, yet, nobody wants to see liberals being the same.

It’s all back and forth hypocrisy.

It’s pretty scary that when Rick Perry criticized Obama over the immigration stuff and then the next thing you know, he gets indicted. If you think Obama had nothing to do with the Rick Perry indictment, you are delusional and insane. Obama is not fooling anyone.

The new Taylor Swift song, “Shake It Off” is surprisingly good… I’m digging it!!!

I know some of you are gonna think to yourself, “Oh no, Taylor Swift has gone pop!”. Sorry to say, y’all but Taylor Swift has always been a pop artist. She’s just taking things to different directions this time and going old-school with her music. Her next album is titled, “1989” and it’s going to have pop songs with an 80’s style. Old school pop music. I can see where she’s going with her new batch of songs.

Her new song, “Shake It Off” reminds me very much like Toni Basil’s “Mickey”.

Which is funny, ya know… I was just starting to dislike Taylor Swift. I used to be a fan and had a few of her earlier albums but I stopped supporting her and stopped buying her music again. The last couple of albums she’s been releasing lately hasn’t been my cup of tea.

I think she just won my respect again with her new song, “Shake It Off”. I listened to the song like 3 or 4 times straight. I think the song is surprisingly good. It’s fun and catchy to listen to. Reminds me of the old days of 80’s pop music. You don’t hear pop music like this anymore. This is the kind of stuff that you’ll probably hear at a high school dance party.

I really dig the song. Will I get the new album? Not sure yet. I’ll wait to hear more songs off of it and then I’ll think about it.

Trey Gowdy hires 3 star Army general to help out in Benghazi investigation…

I believe Trey Gowdy’s goal with the Benghazi investigation is that he just wants this investigation to be realistic and thorough as possible. He just doesn’t want this to be a democrat vs. republican investigation. He just doesn’t want people defending the Obama administration and Hillary. You get the deal here, right??? He just wants this to be a fair and honest investigation.

Hiring a 3 star Army General to help out is a good idea too.

http://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20140821/NEWS05/308210058/Gowdy-hires-retired-Army-3-star-Benghazi-probe

This is gonna be a long and tough investigation. They have a lot of truth to get out but I wish them luck.

If Barack and Hillary won’t give us the truth about Benghazi, then we’re gonna get the truth ourselves. It’s just that simple!
