I'm a musician, singer/songwriter, blogger, writer, poet, bodybuilder, movie lover, music lover, video gamer, history/political buff, conservative/republican, etc. I like to do a lot of things.

People who don’t like me still read my blog site even to this day, and I never understood why?

It seems that people who dislike me (or the haters), read my site to this day, even if they want nothing to do with me. I can tell that they are, ’cause they still talk about me in facebook and other places on the internet. It seems that haters read my site more than actual fans and supporters of mine. I’m alright with that. If they want to continue to be assholes, while reading my site, that’s okay with me. I think the reason these guys still read my site, ’cause deep down inside, they actually like me still in some way, they still respect me even if they don’t want to admit it.

When you get into music you’ll get this a lot. When you don’t get along with people anymore, they’ll continue to pay attention to what you’re up to. Jealousy is also a little part of it. They continue to pay attention to you ’cause they know that you are doing the things that they aren’t doing. I’ve gotten into fitness and trying to move forward to a higher level in guitar playing, and people get mad at that when you move forward.

Don’t worry about it if this happens to you. Part of being a successful person as a musician or fitness person, you want to make people jealous. People can get very jealous of you. It’s crazy. The more jealous people get, the more successful you are at doing things. When people stop supporting you for no reason, chances are they are jealous of you. Just don’t let jealousy of other people bother ya, and be proud of it.

When bands & musicians get on gigs where fans have to buy tickets. Why I disagree with it…

A lot lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of unsigned bands going on shows where they have to make fans go on websites or contact the band themselves to get tickets in order to get in the show. I would refuse to play shows like that when I get my own band going. Why? When you do shows like this, it could be a possible pay to play scheme or a scam. Don’t trust anything that’s not ticketmaster. Even if these ticket websites could be legit, the ticket pricing are usually overpriced anyway. The reason that a lot of bands want to get on shows where fans are forced to buy tickets, is that this is more evidence that these local bands want to feel like “rock stars” when they are not.

When you’re just a local musician, you should be willing to play free gigs, or play shows where they have to pay at the door. I’m willing to play free shows, ’cause I’m not about the money when playing music. I don’t have the rock star attitude like most bands have around here. Plus, it’s a bit of a pain to go on websites that you don’t know well to give them money to people you don’t know. See, what I’m saying? Fans would do anything to go see their favorite band, and they just don’t realize what they’re doing when their using credit cards on ticket websites that you don’t know much about.

I wouldn’t force people to go through all that hassle just to get a ticket. Bands disrespect their own fans when they do that, just my observation. It’s not ticketmaster guys, get out of your fantasy worlds.

I forgot how much of a masterpiece, “Cleopatra” really is, wow, what a beautiful film!

For this Memorial Day weekend, I decided to watch, “Cleopatra”, on Netflix streaming. I may have seen it before a long time ago, but couldn’t really remember it. It’s a 4 hour movie, so I watched the first half last night, and the second half earlier this afternoon. Elizabeth Taylor was really beautiful and hot back in those days. It’s just a biopic film of Cleopatra VII, telling the story of how she became queen and all that stuff.

I’ve been on a bit of a classic film addiction in Netflix lately. I’ve been watching a lot of the classics from the 50’s – 60’s. I thought if I want to be a true movie buff, I need to watch all the classics. I love the old movies. I think this is just a sign of me getting older and trying to get away from the kiddie things.

Happy Memorial Day, and thanks to the troops alive or dead…

It doesn’t matter what war, doesn’t matter how long ago it was. It can be any war: WWI, WWII, Vietnam War, etc. All United States veterans who were killed in action deserve to be honored and to be thanked.

Today, is not about family cookouts, parades, or whatever fun activities you plan on doing.

This day could be a day for Veterans that are still alive too. So if you have a Veteran in your life who is still alive, be sure to give him/her a hug and say thanks.

I’m not doing much today. Nothing special for me. Just going to watch the rest of the movie, “Cleopatra”, a classic movie starring Elizabeth Taylor that I started watching last night. Watched the first half, will watch the rest of it later this afternoon. Gonna spend some time playing guitar or do some reading. Yep, my life is pretty boring. Enjoy your day today.

The Hodge Twins, the kings of fitness information???

“Hey man, you ready to build some rock hard muscle man? Do ya? Well, that’s good, you just came to the right channel….”

“Man, get the fuck outta the way…”

There are too many fitness gurus online trying to get attention in the fitness industry. Thing is, that none of these fitness guys in youtube are famous or anything. They just want to get themselves out there and help people. I think all these fitness gurus in youtube just want to pass along the success that they achieved. They don’t do it for the fame, they just want to help people.

Whether you like the Hodge Twins or not, you gotta give them the respect. They sure know how to grab people’s attention with their videos and their information is pretty valid and spot on. Better than anybody’s I’ve seen. They definitely know their stuff. I’m definitely am a fan of the Hodge Twins and I’m usually not a fan of any fitness guys in youtube, but the Hodge Twins are great.

None of the fitness gurus in youtube are going to become famous but if one of them are going to get famous, it would be the Hodge Twins. I can see them doing their own workout DVDs and books soon. The TMW Channel is indeed the best fitness channel in youtube.

Edit to add: I know I gave the Hodge Twins a shout out on here before, but I’m giving them another one, why? Because I can do whatever, THE FUCK, I WANNA DO!!!!!

Brock doesn’t like how Spotify is taking over the music business…

Isn’t it kind of hypocritical that the music industry goes to war against Napster (thanks to Lars Ulrich of Metallica), that they are mad at people for pirating free music, and then here comes this new software, Spotify? Spotify is similar software to Napster, except the only difference is that the major record labels are on board with Spotify streaming free music (Seriously, this makes the industry a bunch of hypocrites, think about it). Spotify became pretty popular quickly in the music industry. I used it for a little bit, thought it was cool at first, but I don’t want it anymore.

I’m slowly starting to move away from Itunes ’cause I’m not liking Itunes too much anymore either. Take up too much memory, I guess? I’ve been going back to buying regular CD’s instead of buying music digitally.

*sigh*

I miss the old days of music when there was no internet around. Back in those days, you had to buy music on cassette tapes, vinyl or CD’s. Not anymore. People aren’t buying music the old school way anymore. Sad really. I hate how you have to pay for Spotify if you want to listen to music without the advertisements. If you want to listen to music without the advertisements, just buy the damn album, and support the artist.

Spotify is garbage too, thumbs down.

Being a “Me, me, me” drama queen in music…

If you’re the type of musician that will bash the music scene, hate on bands or blame the area for failure in your career, then you have no right to call yourself a professional musician. It also shows that you’re never going to be successful and achieve your dreams, if you keep acting this way. There are certain musicians around here, that still act this way, which should be nameless. For example, if a musician gets fired from a band or leaves a band, this musician will start bashing them publicly in facebook or some other social networking site. Calling out bands or venues, giving them threats or name calling is not the way to go.

I completely understand that a musician wants more respect with your talent around here, I hear ya, but being a negative nancy and a self centered drama queen, is not going to give you that respect. Do you have the right to say what you want about local music? Sure you do, of course. All that’s doing is damaging your career and dreams even more. Next thing you know, you won’t have a career at all. I know from experience, since I used to be this way.

Of course, this musician will think he’s doing nothing wrong. He will think he’s in the right, no matter the situation. He will think he’s telling the truth and think he has the right to do it. Point is, being an asshole in music is not good. There are too many musicians that are assholes around here, not naming names. Sure, I may agree with some that this music scene is not that great and wish this area could be better, but hating on people and disrespecting people is not going to make it better.

If you’re the musician who is the drama queen type, then maybe you’re not the good musician that you say you are. Demanding respect is not going to cut it. If you’re the type of musician who is like this, then you’re nothing but a huge egomaniac and won’t admit it. You’re not better than everyone else. You’re not god’s gift to music. You’re just the same as every other musician around here. You’re not a rock star and you’re not special.

Maybe you do have some talent, but if you’re having trouble going somewhere with your talent around here, then maybe this area isn’t for you. Move to a new area where it’s suitable for your music. Don’t blame the area for not giving you the respect around here. If you’re going to continue to be an out of control, egomaniac, then I don’t want to support you. Get out of my sight. I don’t understand why other people continue to support musicians like this. Musicians act like this for attention, that’s it. When a musician acts like this, I don’t want anything to do with them. I’ll act like they don’t exist to me. Block them from facebook. I won’t allow them to contact me, and won’t even talk to them in person. Everyone else should do the same when they see a musician act this way…but they won’t…why? Because I’m willing to bet other musicians find it entertaining, they enjoy it when a musician acts like an out of control ego-maniac. That’s how delusional people can be around here.

It’s just not a good career move. If you want the respect, I’ll say it again, you must earn it. By being a professional and treating others how you would like to be treated, then you would have a great career. I’m sure this musician knows this, but this musician will keep being a negative nancy ’cause he loves that kind of attention.

Just reposting “A Secret Hidden”, for your listening pleasure…

In my opinion, I think this is one of my best original songs. I’m very proud of it, even though it was just recorded on Garageband. It’s still not perfect. Still needs a little more work, with a little tweaking here and there, but I’m happy how it turned out so far. If I can record this song in a real band with real people in a studio, imagine how much better this song would sound? I can definitely hear this song being way more tighter played in an actual band played by real instruments.

I’m new to recording full band stuff on Garageband and just getting the hang of it, so bare with me if things aren’t absolutely perfect yet.

Enjoy it, here. Same version that I recorded a while back, just re-posting it for the new readers.

I’m very happy with this song and it’s definitely a keeper! You haven’t heard nothing yet though, guys. I plan to be making more upbeat heavy rock songs like this one. This is the kind of music that I like.

Why it’s okay to bash famous national bands, and it’s wrong to bash unsigned bands…

Why is it that when you bash a national band you don’t like, everyone is all cool with it? They think it’s alright to bash national bands. When you bash the unsigned and local bands, it makes you the bad guy. I’ve always wondered this. Why is this you wonder? I’ve been trying to figure this out and I think I just did. The reason it’s okay for people to bash national bands is that they are big & famous, rich. A lot of them don’t really read the internet, so they won’t really care what people would have to say about them online.

When you bash the unsigned & local bands they can, read the internet. They are able to read & reply to things since they aren’t famous and not in the big time. When you bash the unsigned bands that have a large following, their fans and supporters would usually stick up for them, no matter what is said about them. A lot of times, bands would usually reply to all the critics bashing them and they would try to defend themselves.

There are still unsigned bands & artists that I don’t like. There are some out there that I think are crap musicians and they can be unprofessional. I would like to continue to bash unsigned bands to this day and give my honest opinion on them publicly, but I would keep my opinions to myself from now on. I’m done being the bad guy in music. I have been done for a long while. It’s still okay to be brutally honest about unsigned music, just leave names out of the public and you won’t get a backlash, things would be fine.

It is weird how this is, but people are just being people. It is hard to be a critic in unsigned music ’cause everyone would get upset over the things you say, when this is only the internet. I don’t feel regret of how I posted on the internet in the past. If you think I feel bad for it, then you’re wrong. It was a learning experience for sure, and that’s how I look at it.

Will I go see the new, “Men in Black III”???

The answer is no. I have no interest in the new “Men In Black” movie. I thought the first one was pretty good, but I hated the second one. Plus, I’m not a big Will Smith fan. I only like a few of his movies. The only Will Smith movies, I liked were, “Independence Day”, and, “I Am Legend”, that’s pretty much it. I just think he’s an overrated actor.

I will go to the movies next week, to see something, but it won’t be, “MIBIII”.

I’m thinking of checking out either, “Chernobyl Diaries” or, “The Dictator”. I think, I’m going to wait for DVD rental on, “Battleship”.
