Light lifting is really good for you!!!

For the past 4 or 5 weeks now, I’ve been doing everything light lifting with more reps in the gym. It feels great. You can STILL get a great burn and you’ll feel great after too. See? Bodybuilding shouldn’t be about being able to lift as heavy as you possibly can. It’s good to mix it up. I’ll get back into heavy lifting at some point, but I’m going to do less and less heavy lifting. Will focus more on light lifting. People are afraid to lift light ’cause they fear you won’t get muscle mass out of it. Well you can.

Just do 3 sets of 20 reps, with just using 5 or 10 lb dumbbells, tell me how you will feel. I got back into my fitness routines this week and feeling really good.

I keep my nutrition clean most of the week and have 1 or 2 cheat days on the weekends. I keep my nutrition simple, nothing too complicated. I only eat about 4 or 5 small meals a day. I don’t need 6. 6 meals are for the pro bodybuilders. I’m not looking to be like a pro, I just want to get in decent enough shape.

Can’t wait for the warm weather to return and I’ll be able to do outside cardio again. Either jogging or riding the bike. I know I haven’t posted shirtless progress photos in quite a long while, maybe I’ll take a few this weekend.

Rick Santorum vs. Mitt Romney, which religious guy is whackier???

I don’t get why so many call Rick Santorum a religious whack job, when Mitt Romney is no different. Romney maybe in the lead in the GOP race but HE IS slowly losing popularity, Super Tuesday earlier this week showed it. Rick could easily get ahead of him in the GOP race. Rick did really well in Super Tuesday earlier this week, I was so proud of him, seriously. Romney may won at least 5 states for Super Tuesday but Rick came so close behind Romney.

I don’t get why people say Rick is so bad. In my opinion, Rick is the best candidate out of the 4. Deep down inside, you all know it too, you just don’t want to admit it. Rick Santorum is the f’ing man.

The only questionable thing about that “Spotify” app…

While facebook’s “Spotify” is pretty nice, it’s a little questionable. Enjoy it while you can, because it’s only a matter of time, the music industry and other bands will complain about it. Then the site could get turned into a pay site or they could shut it down. Not sure if that site is considered piracy or copyright infringement or not. Probabloy not, the people behind “Spotify” probably got a deal with most of the major labels, which is how most everything in the music world is on there.

I’m listening to Megadeth’s classic “Rust In Peace” album as I’m typing this. Yep, that’s my genre. While I like all kinds of music, rock & metal is it for me. I may not look like a metalhead, but I don’t need to look like one to enjoy the music. I love heavy metal. Loved the genre ever since I was a child.

To the local bands & musicians in this area…

There’s a lot of local bands & solo artists ranting about that Reader’s Poll thing in facebook today, with that well known newspaper that should be nameless, but you’ll figure it out. Many are accusing the newspaper of the Reader’s Poll votes being rigged and fake, all that stuff, blah blah blah, but you know what, that’s the good example of the kind of attitude that you shouldn’t have in the music scene.

Remember what I said, about not worry about these silly award things? In my few previous posts, I had a good attitude of being snubbed from the “Reader’s Poll”. I don’t understand why the “Reader’s Poll” thing means so much to musicians around here, when it shouldn’t mean a thing. It’s not like you’re being handed over a gold medal or a golden statue or anything, sheesh.

I understand musicians want to be recognized for their talent and hard work, but you don’t need your name printed in a newspaper to be recognized for that. You’ll be recognized for your talent when people are supporting your music. That’s it.

Don’t worry about these yearly Reader’s Poll, when you should keep doing your thing. Making the music and keeping your fans happy. That’s all that should matter.  Like I said before, the winners in the “Reader’s Poll” are pretty much the same people, every year with nothing new. I know I’m not the only musician struggling trying to get recognition, there are too many out there.

Just keep working on your music. That’s more important than these silly awards.

This Day In Music: 3/9/12

Musician Birthdays: Robin Trower (guitarist of Procol Harum, famous for hit, “A Whiter Shade of Pale”. Born in 1945)

– In 1964: The Beatles filmed the last day of train scenes for the movie A Hard Days Night. During their six days of filming aboard a moving train, The Beatles traveled a total of 2,500 miles on the rails.

– In 1964: Capitol Records releases a song called ‘Letter To The Beatles’ by The Four Preps. The lyrics describe a boy lamenting the fact that he’s lost his girlfriend to The Fab Four. On its first day, the record shot to No.85 on the charts and it looked like The Preps were going to have another hit on their hands. Unfortunately they had included a few bars from ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ without permission and Capitol was forced to withdraw the single to avoid a lawsuit.

– In 1967: Pink Floyd and The Thoughts appeared at the Marquee, London, England. The Marquee club has often been defined as ‘the most important venue in the history of pop music’, not only for having been the scene of the development of modern music culture in London, but also for having been an essential meeting point for some of the most important artists in rock music.

– In 1968: Bob Dylan started a ten week run at No.1 on the UK chart with John Wesley Harding. The album marked Dylan’s return to acoustic music after three albums of electric rock music and was exceptionally well received by critics, also reaching No.2 on the US charts. The commercial performance was considered remarkable, considering that Dylan had made Columbia Records release the album without much publicity.

– In 1970: Having recently changed their name from Earth to Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward made their concert debut at The Roundhouse, London.

– In 1971: Led Zeppelin appeared at Leeds University, Leeds, England, during their ‘Back To The Clubs’ tour. This was the first tour which saw Zeppelin performing ‘Stairway To Heaven’, ‘Black Dog’ and ‘Going To California.’

– In 1977: The Jacksons CBS show was aired for the last time on US TV finishing at the bottom of the ratings.

– In 1981: Robert Plant played a secret gig at Keele University, England with his new band The Honey Drippers.

– In 1985: Mick Jagger released his solo single ‘Just Another Night’ a No. 12 hit in the US and No. 32 on the UK charts.

– In 1985: REO Speedwagon started a three week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Can’t Fight This Feeling’, it made No.16 in the UK.

– In 1991: Mariah Carey started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Someday’, her third US No.1 & No.38 hit in the UK.

– In 1991: ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go’ gave The Clash their only UK No.1 single after the track was used for a Levi’s TV advertisement. The track was first released in 1982 from their album Combat Rock album.

– In 1996: Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher walked off stage during a gig at the Vernon Valley Gorge ski resort in New Jersey because his hands were too cold to play.

– In 1997: Notorious BIG was gunned down and killed as he left a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Born Christopher Wallace the rapper was pronounced dead on arrival at Cedars Sinai Hospital. He was 24 years old.

– In 2004: Tom Jones was banned from wearing tight leather pants by his own son and manager Mark Jones. His son said it was time to ‘dress his age’ as he was in danger of becoming a laughing stock at 63.

– In 2010: Lil Wayne was sentenced to a year in prison at New York City’s Rikers Island jail complex after pleading guilty to gun possession. The charges were linked to his arrest in 2007 when a gun was found on his tour bus. His sentencing came after several delays; the first date was postponed to allow the rapper to have dental work and the second had to be rearranged after a fire broke out in the New York court complex.

The reason I believe, I keep getting snubbed from that certain Reader’s Poll…

That one year, either 2006 or 2007, my blog was sparking a lot of attention in the music scene. That was back in the days, when I used to feud with other bands/musicians, and feuding with the same person for years that should be nameless. That stuff, was getting mixed reactions. Some found that stuff very entertaining and some didn’t like what I was doing. That was back in the days when I was the “internet bad guy”.

Well, as the years went by, I figure it was time for a change that I was done being the “internet bad guy”. I had to change my blog for the better and more positive, but ever since I changed my blog for the better, it did seem that people lost interest in it. I had to change my blog style to discuss things more positive like movies, music, fitness, etc.

I’m sure some of my longtime readers are still reading to this day, and I’m sure the haters are still reading too. Whether this blog no longer gets any publicity like it did in the past, I still thank you for supporting me and my site.

Thing is, I’m not going back to being the internet badguy. I want my life to be on a positive note. As for the Reader’s Poll thing, it’s just the same stuff every year. Nothing new. I’ll just continue to blog and do my thing.

Even if I still rant about local music, I try to keep them on a positive note and leave names out of stuff. I’m proud of being a blogger, and I do this to express myself. So I’m not really worried about if I don’t win anymore awards out of this. This isn’t really the Oscars.

Finally signed up for Spotify on Facebook…

I see everyone in facebook using this new music software called, “Spotify” for Facebook Timeline. I finally installed it earlier tonight. It’s actually pretty cool software. Sound quality is good too, and the site is safe to use with no virus’s/spyware. I like it.

It’s nice software ’cause you get to see what other peoples taste in music is like. Which is why I signed up for it. So people can get an idea of what I like to listen to. I guess that’s what the site is for and why they call it “Spotify”.

I had to get the Timeline in order for people to see it. Pretty cool. I’ll listen to tunes through that while browsing the net.

Sly is dying to make one last Rambo movie? It appears so!!!

I haven’t made a Sly Stallone post here in a long time but now that he finally has something worthy to post, I had to post it here. Sly just said he is dying to do one last Rambo movie, and the plot will involve him being between the borders of Arizona and Mexico.

He talks about the new Rambo film at the very end of this interview.

You should read the rest of that interview as well, it’s a good interview. I agree with his thoughts on today’s action heroes on how it isn’t what it used to be back in the 80’s. There are some good action movies that come out today, but today’s action films are full of CGI and special effects. It wasn’t the way the old days filmed action movies.

I’m glad Sly is thinking about one last Rambo movie. Hopefully, the next film will be LONGER and more brutal than the last one.
