Report: Joss Whedon officially on board for “The Avengers” sequel!!!

In the beginning, Joss Whedon wasn’t sure if he was going to be on board to be director for, “The Avengers” sequel, now it appears that he is on board! I can’t see no one else but him directing these movies ’cause no one else could make it as good as he does. I’m glad he’s on! I thought “The Avengers” was one of the best movies of this year, so far. I was very impressed with the film.

Yes, I’m sure Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye will return but I’m sure, they will add a few more heroes to the team. I’m sure Tom Hiddleston will return as Loki, but they will probably add a few more villains too.

“The Avengers” was a pretty big team. I never read the comics, but I know they keep adding more members as they go along.

I can’t wait for the Blu Ray release of “The Avengers”.

AICN, reports.

25 years ago today, “Masters of the Universe” was released…

Today, Canon Films, Gary Goddard and Dolph Lundgren celebrated the 25th Anniversary, of “Masters of the Universe”. The film was released August 7th, 1987. Like always, the film didn’t do very well in the box office and the reception wasn’t very good by the public either. I thought the film was good for what it was. Sure, it had some problems, but it’s just a fun action movie, that’s pretty much the only reason I liked it. The story had some problems, plot holes and didn’t stay faithful to the He-Man story, but it was still a fun movie. It’s a shame that we didn’t get a sequel, with Dolph as He-Man. Thanks to Sylvester Stallone who got Dolph Lundgren a role in “Rocky IV” as Ivan Drago, “Masters of the Universe” helped him become a well known star back in the 80’s. After the “Masters of the Universe” role, Dolph went on to even bigger films such as “Red Scorpion”, “The Punisher”, and “Universal Soldier”. After the “Universal Soldier” movie, he made straight to video movies for most of his career.

In Dolph’s official facebook page, the man looks back in the days of his “Masters of the Universe”, filming. He says it wasn’t easy for him, since he is a Swedish actor and he had to get used to the United States style of things.

Read Dolph’s interesting write up about “Masters of the Universe”, here.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Warner Bros., and Mattel are going to do with the He-Man reboot. He-Man deserves a good live action movie and a successful one, so hope they get it right next time around.

“Masters of the Universe” will be getting a Blu Ray release in Oct., which I will be getting.

RIP: Marilyn Monroe 1926 – 1962

This post is not going to be about her death or her personal problems, it’s going to be a positive thing. About celebrating her great career. When I visited Los Angeles last year in Hollywood, it inspired me to get into Marilyn Monroe movies more. I started watching her films this year, and pretty much watched most of her films in her filmography. I even saw all the ones where she had small cameos in. What are my top 5 Marilyn flicks, out of all the ones I’ve watched?

In no particular order: “Some Like It Hot”, “Gentlemen Prefers Blondes”, “Niagra”, “The Seven Year Itch”, and “Bus Stop”.

There’s still a few more I need to see like “Prince and the Showgirl” and “Don’t Bother to Knock” (which both of these are listed on my DVD rental que for Netflix). I still need to see “The Misfits”, too and that DVD is hard to find.

This woman is so inspiring that she makes me wish I was around the time she was alive. Her career was pretty important in the movie industry. She didn’t become a legend for nothing. No matter how long ago she was around, she’ll inspire people forever.

Cool Video: Dolph Lundgren finally responds his thoughts on the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” re-boot…

While promoting the new “Expendables 2” movie with IGN, they asked Dolph Lundgren his thoughts on the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” re-boot, on whether or not, Dolph approves of it. Well, it seems that Dolph is all for it ’cause he just said it’s a good idea. Will Dolph be willing to make some kind of appearance in the film? He said he would, but he would not play the He-Man character again because of his age. Keep in mind, Dolph was young when he first played the He-Man role. I would think he was around the early 30’s back then. Dolph said he would rather play the King (in which he is referring to the character, King Hiss, or maybe King Randor).

The original “Masters of the Universe” film with Dolph didn’t do well in the box office and got mixed opinions. The film still gets mixed opinions to this day, but I love the film very much. It’s a shame we didn’t get a sequel with Dolph like originally planned. I thought “Masters of the Universe” was a fun movie and a great action film.

For the new film, I think the entire film should be taken place on the home planet of Eternia, instead of on Earth in our present time. The new “Masters of the Universe” will probably be action packed and will probably be a big CGI fest, will probably be in 3D but, I’m hoping they’ll stay faithful to the action figures and cartoon series. I think a reboot is a good idea too. He-Man deserves a proper film since the last one failed. It deserves another try.

Who’s going to play the new He-Man? I can think of two different actors for that character and it would be appropriate if they use a younger actor who is big and muscular. The two best candidates for the new He-Man would be either Chris Hemsworth (Thor) or Jason Momoa (Conan, Game of Thrones). They need to cast someone for Teela, Man at Arms, Skeletor, and Evil Lynn. I also hope they make a better Beast Man too.

Lets hope they don’t bring back the Gwildor character from the original film ’cause I hated that character, he was the only thing I didn’t like about the original, “Masters of the Universe”.

Report: Javier Bardem steps out of “The Dark Tower”, Russell Crowe to replace?

Deadline reports that actor Javier Bardem, has stepped out of Ron Howard’s “The Dark Tower” series, with reasons unknown. Bardem has been slated to play as Roland Deschain of Gilead for a while now but looks like he changed his mind. Scheduling conflicts got in the way? He didn’t care for the script? Either way it’s disappointing that he’s stepping down ’cause I think he was perfect for, Roland. I’m kind of skeptical on Russell Crowe though.

If anything, I’ve been saying for years in this blog that Hugh Jackman would make the perfect Roland, so he’s my pick if Russell isn’t down.

The Dark Tower is a pretty risky and challenging project, so I hope Ron does it right and stays faithful to the books.

Cool Video: Paranormal Activity 4 trailers hits online!!!

I’m a big fan of these movies. Love the storyline and the mysteries surrounding this Katie character. The last two, P.A. films, were prequels, this film looks like, it’s going to leave off right where the first film ended. In other words, this one is a sequel of the original P.A. film. It’s got to be ’cause the boy seen in this movie is Hunter, from “P.A. 2”. Katie is seen in the trailer a few times briefly.

Looks good, I’ll be in the theaters to see this one in Oct. I want to start buying these movies on BluRay soon.

Cool Video: The “Skyfall” trailer gave me goosebumps, and I’m ready to see it, I think…

The full domestic trailer for the next 007 flick, “Skyfall”, is finally here. The film looks really good too. Of course, all James Bond trailers try to make themselves really good. Hopefully “Skyfall” won’t disappoint, and it’ll be better than “Casino Royale”/”Quantum of Solace”. I did love “Casino Royale”, but I hated “Quantum of Solace”. I’m hoping “Skyfall” will be good. I’ll be seeing this one.

Happy 65th Arnold!!!

While Sly Stallone is my no. 1 hero in the fitness/movie world, Arnold would have to be right behind him. Happy Birthday to the former, Governator. He will always be an inspiration to me. Arnold just turned 65 today.

Here are my top ten favorite Arnold movies in no particular order:

  • The first three Terminator films (yes, I loved the first three Terminator films, even “Rise of the Machines”. I hated “Terminator: Salvation” like most people though)
  • Conan the Barbarian/Destroyer
  • The Running Man
  • Total Recall
  • Predator
  • Last Action Hero
  • End of Days
  • Kindergarten Cop
  • Commando

Thought: Is “The Shining” prequel a good idea? I would say so, yes!

Reports are saying that Warner Bros. are quietly moving forward with an idea of doing a prequel to Stanley Kubrick’s movie, “The Shining”, that starred Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. It would focus on the events before the original story where Jack, Wendy and Danny Torrance stayed at the Overlook Hotel so Jack can write his novel, later Jack was turned into a madman.

Stephen King announced earlier this year, that he is writing a sequel to “The Shining”, where it would focus on the story of Danny Torrance, the son, as a full grown man. Could there be “The Shining” movie trilogy, on the way? Looks it. If Warner Bros. is serious on a prequel, first they need to get written permission from King obviously. They need to buy the rights off him. I’m sure King would want it to happen ’cause it seems that he wants all of his novels to get turned into movies these days.

Maybe King will write the script for the prequel? Who knows. Anything is possible. There is so much more you can tell with “The Shining” story. As long as they get King involved in the prequel film, somehow, I’ll be all for it.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Overlook Hotel turned out to be. How it became haunted and all that stuff. As long as they make it different and original story, and won’t be a rehash of the original, where a different family goes to the Overlook, I’m all for it. There shouldn’t be a Jack Nicholson cameo for the prequel ’cause he’ll be too old for the role, by now, I’m sure the Jack Torrance name could be brought up in the prequel a few times though.

WB’s could make it good if they make it scary, and keep it in the horror genre. I’m looking forward to hearing King’s thoughts on the prequel to, “The Shining”. He’ll probably respond sooner or later. It seems that King responds through Entertainment Weekly, every time a remake is in the works of his films. A Shining trilogy could be interesting.
