Netflix Pick (PS3): The Boondock Saints

“The Boondock Saints” movies are the most talked about movies on the internet. I’ve never even seen them before. So since, “The Boondock Saints”, the first one was viewable on Netflix for the PS3, I decided to check it out over the weekend.

It tells the story of twin Irish brothers, named Connor and Murphy MacManus. In the beginning of the film, they kill mafia thugs by accident. They turned themselves in and they were considered heroes by the public for what they did, so the twins were released from jail. After this, they continue to kill mafia gang members while Willem Dafoe’s character who plays Det. Paul Smecker, who is a crazy and weird guy, investigates the killings. As Det. Smecker investigates the crimes, he began to see that the MacManus twins were heroes too.

I can see why this movie is very popular online. I thought it was one of the best action movies I’ve seen in a long time. It was very entertaining all the way through. I was never bored. It’s an action comedy. There’s humor throughout the film as well. I thought the action scenes were fun. I had no problems with this movie at all. Just a perfect action movie and it ended up being one of my top 10 favorite action flicks. Makes me want to see the second one soon, I’ll rent the second one from Netflix on DVD. I don’t have much to say about this movie ’cause when you love a film so much, that’s all you need to say about it.

I actually want to see the comedy “Bad Teacher”, actually looks pretty good…

I’ve been seeing the new trailers for the comedy “Bad Teacher”, which stars Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, and Justin Timberlake. It actually looks pretty decent. It’s a realistic comedy that everyone can relate to, because I’m sure everyone have had a bad teacher when they were in school at the time. Even I had my share of bad teachers during my school years.

I’ve had some teachers who taught really bad or they were just assholes. I could tell some bad teacher stories, but I have so many stories to tell.

If I had to tell one bad teacher story, I had a social studies teacher, I think in 10th grade in high school. He was an older teacher but he had a really bad temper. Seriously this one was an asshole. I remember there was this kid in the class, he stood real short. He’s not a midget, but a short guy. This short kid would pick on this teacher all the time. This teacher would throw a tantrum, I think he even threatened to kill the kid in front of everyone. Me and my best friend at the time were in that class, we used to laugh so hard because it was funny the way this social studies teacher got mad. My best friend at the time, he brought in a hidden mini tape recorder and taped the whole thing. Seriously, this is a true story. The social studies teacher screamed at the top of his lungs, “I’m so mad that I can just kill you”. It’s all on tape. This social studies teacher was easy to pick on. Everyone picked on him, even me and my best friend picked on him all the time.

I don’t see my best friend from school anymore since we’re out of school and he got married & stuff like that, but we used to listen to that tape and laugh our asses off all the time. I think he still has the tape. I’ve had many bad teacher moments, but I think this one tops them all.

I’ll try to catch “Bad Teacher” in theater soon.

The Top 10 Best Movie Dads

In celebration for Father’s Day who are the best movie Dads, in Hollywood films? At the top of my head, I’ll name ten of my favorites.

Enjoy the list:

  1. Rocky Balboa (played by Sylvester Stallone for the Rocky series) – The character that made Sly a star. This would be my first pick. Sly plays a father very well and more realistic than any other movie Dads, in my opinion.
  2. Don Vito Corleone (played by Marlon Brando for the first “Godfather” film) – An epic performance by Brando and my favorite Godfather movie. Love this film too much.
  3. Clark Griswold (played by Chevy Chase for the “National Lampoon’s Vacation” series) – Griswold is one of the greatest movie Dads ever, so he deserves this spot. I think it would be cool if there can be one last Vacation movie with the Griswold family reunited.
  4. Jor-El (played by Marlon Brando for “Superman: The Movie” and “Superman II”) – This role is Marlon’s best acting in his career, in my opinion. Such an amazing performance.
  5. Bryan Mills (played by Liam Neeson for the “Taken” film) – Would it be badass to have a Dad like this? Have a father where he goes out to rescue kidnapped kids on their own? The “Taken” movie just rules!
  6. Dad Meiks (played by Bill Paxton for the horror film “Frailty”) – Imagine what it would be like to have a serial killer Dad? I think it would be kind of fun, honestly.
  7. George McFly (played by Crispin Glover for the first “Back to the Future” film)  – He has always been my favorite character from the first “Back to the Future” film. Crispin Glover was so perfect for that role, nobody else could play that character but him.
  8. Michael Sullivan Sr. (played by Tom Hanks for the “Road to Perdition” film) – Another mobster Dad, but a great movie and one of my favorite characters Tom Hanks ever played. Love this movie.
  9. Robert Wakefield (played by Michael Douglas for the film “Traffic”) – A great role by Michael Douglas with some really good acting. His performance is underrated in this movie, I think. Wish he got more recognition for it.
  10. Roy Neary (played by Richard Dreyfuss for the film “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”) – This is one of my favorite Steven Spielberg movies ever made. Man, I love this movie so much, I’ll never get tired of it. It’s Spielberg’s best sci-fi film, in my opinion.

That’s all, enjoy the list. Coming up next, top 10 Best TV Dads.

Cool Video: I think Brad Pitt’s new movie, “Moneyball” looks great!

After a long break from the big screen, Brad Pitt is finally back with two new movies this year of 2011. “The Tree of Life” and now “Moneyball”. The “Moneyball” trailer dropped today and I was very impressed with it. The movie looks interesting to me.

I can understand why Brad is staying away from movies more ’cause he has a family to take care of with his superstar girlfriend, Angelina Jolie. When Angie has more than 5 adopted kids to take care of, that’s a lot of work.

Enjoy the trailer, here. I’m definitely seeing it in theater when it comes out, I think.

Repor: Richard Donner speaks on how the “Superman” movie theme was conducted…

In celebration of the new Superman Blu Ray boxset, Richard Donner sits down for an interview with UGO to talk about John Williams amazing score, for “Superman: The Movie”.

Enjoy the read, here.

Will John Williams score the music for Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” film? I’m pretty sure Zack and Chris Nolan will get him. It’s not a Superman movie if John doesn’t score the new film, so he probably will score it. It’ll be a shame if John gets replaced.

BREAKING NEWS: Simon West is replacement for “The Expendables 2” director!!!!

Several months ago, Sly announced the shocking news that he will not be directing “The Expendables” sequel. He wanted to give a different director an opportunity to make it a better film. A search for a replacement has been a long one, but Millennium Films have finally found their guy!

Millennium announced, Simon West, (director of such movies as “The Mechanic” remake, “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, “Con Air”, etc.) will take over Sly Stallone’s job as director.

Yes, Sly himself is returning to star the leading role as Barney Ross, of course. Deadline also confirmed the cast from the first movie is also returning. Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, and Jet Li are all set to return. I’m pretty sure Arnold and Bruce will return too. Hopefully a LONGER role for Arnold too, not just a cameo.

Deadline, reports.

Simon’s a good film maker. I liked, “Con Air” and “Tomb Raider”. I haven’t seen, “The Mechanic”, remake yet, but I will rent it from Netflix soon.

I’m pretty sure Sly and the gang will add more iconic tough guys to the cast. Hopefully they get Jean Claude Van Damme and Kurt Russell. Dwayne Johnson too. They would probably get more UFC stars as well.

I loved the first “Expendables” movie but it had some problems. Hopefully the next one will have more of Jet Li fighting, ’cause Jet Li only had like one or two action scenes in the first one.

BREAKING NEWS: Russell Crowe in talks to play Jor-El for Zack Snyder’s “Superman: Man of Steel” film…

FINALLY!!!!!!

After several weeks of Superman news slowing down, it’s starting to pick back up again! Oscar award winner, Russell Crowe is in talks to play Jor-El, Superman’s biological father on his home planet of Krypton.

Variety, reports.

The casting for the new “Superman” movie is amazing so far. While I’m sure Russell will do a fantastic job playing Jor-El he won’t be able to top Marlon Brando’s epic performance in “Superman: The Movie” and “Superman II”.

I’m glad the casting for “Superman” is on a roll again.

Hopefully they cast someone for Perry White or Jimmy Olsen next. I would like Al Pacino for Perry White and Jesse Eisenberg for Jimmy Olsen.

Report: Sony Pictures confirms “Ghostbusters 3” is greenlighted for 2013???

Did Bill Murray finally read the script to “Ghosbusters 3”, and he’s actually down for reprising his role as Peter Venkman? A press release was published in the “Licensing Trade” magazine at the Licensing International Expo. in Las Vegas, and somebody scanned the press release to post it on the internet for the rest of us to see.

Check it out, here!

As you all know, Bill Murray has been very critical about “Ghostbusters 3” for a long time now and he wouldn’t read the script even though it was sent to him. Sony revealed they would cancel the third movie if Bill wouldn’t do it.

For now, this is just a rumor, Sony themselves haven’t confirmed this yet. All we can do for now is cross our fingers. Even though everyone is critical about a third Ghostbusters film, I think a third film deserves to happen to close out the trilogy whether you agree with it or not.

Hopefully this news is true and we should hear from Sony soon.

Report: Former “Lost” star, Matthew Fox, and Ed Harris joins, “World War Z” film…

The former “Lost” star, Matthew Fox, and legendary actor, Ed Harris, are in talks to star alongside Brad Pitt, for the “World War Z” film. “World War Z” is a zombie apocalypse novel written by Max Brooks. It’s about the US Army going to war against zombies. The “World War Z” film will begin filming later this month.

Deadline, reports.

I’ve never read the book yet, so I think I’m gonna have to soon. I love zombie stories. I’m sure the movie will be action packed, bloody, and very violent.
