Such a huge loss in the Star Trek community. As a huge Star Trek junkie myself, I’m sad of her death too.

I remember when Deforest Kelly died in 1999, and he is still missed as well. I think Deforest would be proud of JJ’s new “Star Trek” film.

TV Review: “A Muppets Christmas – Letters to Santa”

Just finished watching the Muppets special on NBC titled “A Muppets Christmas – Letters to Santa”, here is my review.

Plot/synopsisThe Muppet characters wait in line at the Post Office in New York City waiting to mail their Christmas cards, later they realized they weren’t Christmas cards. They were actually letters to Santa Claus written by children. When the Muppets return back to their apartment building, Claire, a little girl who is friends with Gonzo, felt dissapointed when Gonzo reveals that the Muppets won’t be around for Christmas, they will be on vacation.

The Muppets then begin to realize that Christmas for children is more important than a vacation so to get into the Christmas spirit, they decide to help these children by delivering these letters to Santa Claus. They try everything they could to deliver these letters, then they have no choice but to travel to the North Pole and see Santa themselves.

It was actually very good and entertaining. I liked it a lot! They kept it old school Muppets the way it’s supposed to be!!! They brought every single Muppet character back in one entire hour! Yep, every single Muppet character besides the well known ones, they also brought back Sam the Eagle, The Swedish Chef, Beaker, Sweetums, Lew Zealand, Dr. Teeth, Janice, Zoot, Statler and Waldorf, etc. Yep, the whole gang is there.

Celebrity cameo appearances by Mayor Bloomberg, Whoopi Goldberg, Uma Thurman, etc.

The story was great, the songs were fun. It was a good show and a job well done!!! Bring on the new Muppet film for the big screen!!!

Score for “Letters to Santa” = *** (3 stars as in good)

Report: The Muppets return to TV this Wednesday night…

This Wednesday night at 8 p.m. on NBC, the peacock station will air ,”A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa”, which marks a huge return of the Muppets to TV. Will the show get strong ratings for this one? We’ll have to wait and see. I personally think this is a test to see if America still cares for the Muppets, since there is a new Muppet movie in the works.

I’ll indeed be watching since I love the Muppet characters and they deserve a huge comeback. The last few Muppet movies were terrible failures in the box office. Lets hope the new upcoming Muppet movie will live up to the “Great Muppet Caper” and “The Muppets Take Manhatten” which are the two best Muppet films.

Animal and Gonzo has always been my favorite characters out of the whole gang.

Does anyone out there enjoy the Muppets still? Sound it off in the comments below.

Cool Video: Amy Poehler’s SNL goodbye message…

Last night was Amy Poehler’s final show on SNL and she did a special goodbye message on the Weekend  Update.

See it here:

http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/update-amys-goodbye/881441/

It’s sad to see her go. Amy was one of the last remaining big name star on SNL and now the show has no big name stars with her being gone. Which is good. It’ll give other new SNL stars a chance to become a big name.

Which SNL star could possibly become the next big name? Andy Sandberg is heading up there. So is Seth Myers.

I see Amy Poehler doing more appearances on “30 Rock” with her friend Tina Fey. So I don’t see Amy leaving NBC for good. Not too worries.

Report: NBC unveils “The Jay Leno Show”…

Since the shocking announcement that Jay Leno is staying put on NBC, the peacock station just revealed more details on the new show. The name of the show is simply titled “The Jay Leno Show”. Like I said in a post before, the show will be basically the same thing as “The Tonight Show”. Making jokes about current news, two celebrity interviews and a musical guest. Guitarist Kevin Eubanks and the rest of the “Tonight Show” band will stick with Leno as well.

When Conan makes the move to “The Tonight Show” replacing Leno, I wonder if Max Weinberg the drummer and his band will move along with Conan or will they stay put at Jimmy Fallon? I would hate to see Max Weinberg and Conan O’ Brien apart, it would be weird to see, and I hope NBC keeps them together even if Conan is moving to “The Tonight Show”.

Max Weinberg friggin rules, he’s funny as hell and plus he’s one badass drummer.

BREAKING NEWS: Jay Leno is staying put at NBC late night!!!!

Just when everyone thought that Jay Leno is retiring from TV late night and leaving NBC studios, it seems that Leno changed his mind and the iconic talk show host isn’t leaving anytime soon!!!

NBC announced they will give Leno a deal where he can appear on NBC at the 10 p.m. hour. They also gave Leno a better pay deal as well. Leno is reportedly to make $40 to $50 million a year for his 10:00 p.m. slot. He’ll be able to buy more cars and motorcycles!!!

Jay Leno’s move will be similar to how he usually have his shows. You know, the usual making fun of news reports, interviews with two celebrities and a musical guest. Jimmy Fallon will take over Conan O’ Brien when Conan moves to an earlier hour on March 4th.

Jay will never retire, he’ll be doing late night ’til the day he dies. What a copout!!!! I don’t like Jay Leno that much and I was hoping that he would be gone but nope. I think Conan’s the best late night host, I watch Conan all the time. Conan makes me laugh, Jay doesn’t.

Kev

EDIT TO ADD: On a side note, the only reason NBC is paying Leno more is that they are doing whatever it takes to make him stay at NBC. NBC doesn’t want him to leave.

Report: Oprah named the Most Powerful Woman in Hollywood by the Hollywood Reporter…

Oprah tops the Hollywood Reporter’s Power 100 List.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i607260fdc2070f66ea8f75c9d9d08f8b

Most powerful and influential? The women in America would think that, but I can assure you that a lot of men like myself can’t stand her.

She’s responsible for making Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz famous, both of those guys are morons. She’s responsible for turning Tom Cruise into an egomaniac. She’s mainly the only one responsible for getting Barack Obama elected. If it wasn’t for her, McCain would have won the election.

Her daily TV show on NBC is annoying with all them screaming women and her being all hyper as the host. She sure is not the most powerful woman in America, bullshit.

I can’t stand Oprah.

Who do I think is the most powerful woman in Hollywood? The answer is, no one. There is no such thing as being the most “powerful”. I see them as people doing their jobs and not giving them the most “powerful” title to feed in their ego.

Report: Rest in Peace to the daytime soap opera industry?

Look like all the daytime Soap Operas on TV with soaps such as “All My Children”, “Days of Our Lives”, “One Life To Live”, etc. is coming to a near death with all shows getting low on money. Most of the shows are firing actors just to help save the budgets. For the actors the shows are keeping are making their paychecks smaller to help the budgets.

This article also confirms the rumours that Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn are being fired from “Days” to help the budgets. Hall and Hogestyn are both leaving “Days” early in 2009, they’ll still be on the show for the rest of the year but I think they’ll leave sometime in January, so the two can finish the last of their episodes they got scripts for. Hall played Marlena Evans for 32 years, Drake Hogestyn played John Black for 22 years. It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for them after they leave the show.

“Days” is the only soap NBC has because the show still has a strong following of fans.

See this interesting article here:

It’s a shame what soaps came out to be today. Low ratings on all of them. Bad writing and bad acting on most of them. It won’t bother me much if all soaps came to an end. Most everyone don’t care for soaps anymore except for the only people that watch them are the ones who have been watching for years. I would like to see the soaps shape up so they can be successful again though.
