RIP: Tony Halme (aka Ludvig Borga in WWE) 1963 -2010

Former WWE superstar Ludvig Borga (real name: Tony Halme) has passed away. Many may not know him, but the wrestling community would know who he is. He wrestled in the WWE from 1993-1994. He was popular that year in WWE for his famous feud with Tatanka. Tony Halme is from Finland. Not sure of the cause of his death, but according to wikipedia, he had a lot of problems in his life. In 2006, he was in a mental hospital for the insane. He also had a problem with alcohol, drugs, and steroids. He also had a domestic dispute with his wife as he shot a gun in his apartment while she watched. He was also a contestant for American Gladiators. He is from Helsinski, Finland. He was 47 years old.

BREAKING NEWS: So who won in the ratings last night? Is it WWE or TNA? Ratings are in folks….

Last night was a huge night for wrestling. It really was. Something special that will go down in history for years. It was WWE vs. TNA in ratings for Hulk Hogan on TNA and Bret Hart on RAW. Which show did the best and got higher in ratings?

Click here and read for yourself:

http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/TNA_News_1/article_37908.shtml

Yes, that’s right. TNA got higher ratings than WWE last night. TNA never got this high before. Me thinks, it was the nWo reunion that drew people in. Last night’s TNA Impact was just like old school WCW, that’s what it reminded me of.

Congratulations to TNA. Keep it up!

Vince better shape up. WWE really needs to bring the Rock and Stone Cold back full time if they want to beat TNA.

TNA Impact vs. WWE RAW last night making wrestling history with Hulk Hogan vs. Bret Hart

Wow!!!!!!! What an amazing night of wrestling last night!!! Both wrestling shows “TNA Impact” and “WWE RAW” were really amazing. Making history, big time. Last night’s TNA Impact, their first Monday night show, marks the debut of Hulk Hogan who just signed with TNA a while back. TNA did a three hour special to compete with RAW. Yes they were competing and battling with them big time for the ratings. Hulk Hogan was not the only former WWE superstar making his debut in TNA, there were many others. Superstars such as Ric Flair, Jeff Hardy, Val Venis, The Nasty Boys tag team, Scott Hall, X-Pac (Sean Waltman), Shannon Moore, and a few more to name. I never really used to like TNA that much, but last night was actually a really good show. The wrestling and the storylines were entertaining.

As for the Hulk Hogan debut, everybody probably expected Hulk to come out wearing his usual red and yellow ring attire with his “Great American” theme song, but he didn’t. He came out wearing all black, wearing sunglasses and fake black beard makeup. Meaning that he went back to his old Hollywood Hulk Hogan gimmick. The reason I think Hogan didn’t wear the red and yellow ring attire is because it’s, the WWE’s trademark and WWE owns the rights. TnA could get into legal trouble if they used the “American” red and yellow gimmick, that’s my guess. I could be wrong though, maybe TnA will actually use the red and yellow gimmick in the future if WWE lets them.

There was an nWo reunion last night on TNA. Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman, Scott Hall, and Eric Bischoff were all in the ring, talking about reforming the nWo. However, the nWo name wasn’t mentioned once (another copyright/trademark thing?). It was an amazing segment seeing all those guys in the ring after all these years. They put on great mic speeches.

I was also watching WWE RAW, both at the same time. Switching back and forth in between commercials. I recorded both shows on my DVR. Bret Hart being RAW guest host was amazing as well. Bret still have the great mic skills and he was amazing last night. Look like Bret will be feuding with McMahon for the Montreal Screwjob angle years back. Bret vs. Vince McMahon for Wrestlemania? Possibly.

I plan to watch both TNA and RAW again this week. I’ll keep an eye on the ratings report to see which show did the best ratings. I’ll post it when the ratings report is announced.

BREAKING NEWS: Bret “The Hitman” Hart to return to RAW next Monday!!!!!!

Vince McMahon made it official that Bret “The Hitman” Hart is returning to RAW after all these years. He will probably be feuding with Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon to finish off the controversial, Montreal Screwjob feud. Bret Hart will be guest hosting RAW next monday, Jan. 4th. The same day Hulk Hogan makes his debut on TNA. It’s WWE’s way of battling against TNA with the ratings.

I’ll definitely be watching RAW next week. This isn’t a one time only thing for Bret Hart. I think Bret Hart will stay around RAW until the next Wrestlemania. Bret Hart might be made the next RAW GM or something.

Looking forward to RAW next week. Will be interesting to see Bret Hart back. He’s not coming back to wrestle, since he can’t due to his health and being injury proned. This is more exciting than the Hulk Hogan in TNA. I will watch Hulk Hogan in TNA next Monday too, but I will record that on my DVR while watching RAW.

Ten Celebrities that should host Monday Night RAW…

With WWE Monday Night RAW doing a celebrity guest host every week, what celebrities do you think should host in the future? Here are my picks that I think would make the show entertaining…

In no particular order:

  • Kyle Gass and Jack Black of the Tenacious D (To bring some comedy to RAW, I think the Tenacious D would be perfect. Their humor is too crude and rude for children, but I’m sure they’ll make their comedy PG friendly with no problemo)
  • Howard Stern (I think Stern would be great, don’t you think?)
  • Perez Hilton (WWE should get him, Perez is the king of controversy in the media and this is what WWE likes, so why not?)
  • Simon Cowell (Simon the heel? I dig it)
  • “Weird” Al Yankovic (They should get Al Yankovic to host, he’s perfect for the PG thing)
  • Pee Wee Herman (his “Playhouse” shows would be great for the kids at live RAW events)
  • Sylvester Stallone (Sly has always been supportive of the WWE, this would be perfect promotion for the “Expendables” movie since Stone Cold is in it! I’m sure WWE will try to ask him around the time the movie comes out)
  • Mickey Rourke (Rourke vs. Jericho again? I’m down with that, yeah!)
  • Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins (Billy has always been a massive wrestling fan. If WWE ever asked Billy, I’m sure he would jump on the opportunity, please WWE ask him! Make his dream come true to work with WWE for one time only! He’d love it)
  • Sarah Palin – (Sarah as a heel? I can see her being one and the crowd booing her like crazy. Bring her on, Vince!)

Thought: It’s not the PG rating that’s destroying WWE, DX and the celebrity guest hosts is…

I think the reason that so many people have been turned off by WWE’s current direction lately, is not because of their PG family friendly rating. Here is the problem.

I think the problem is that the WWE has turned itself into a mainstream family show, instead of an “actual” wrestling show like it once used to be in the 90’s.

All these celebrity guests hosts, is the big part of this thing. I don’t like this celebrity host thing at all WWE is doing with RAW. It’s silly. We don’t need celebrities in wrestling. The wrestling superstars are the celebrities themselves. What Vince doesn’t realize is that these celebs that host a RAW episode each week is overshadowing the star power of these wrestlers.

Another thing that is hurting WWE, is the new D Generation X tag team with Shawn Michaels and Triple H. Aren’t these guys a little too old for a gimmick like this? DX was great in their younger days during the Attitude era, but today? LOL! DX is way past their time. I’m sure the veteran wrestling fans like myself want Triple H and Shawn Michaels to end DX and go back to performing solo like they are best at. The only reason that WWE brought DX back full time is to help hype up this PG rating thing and to build a fanbase with children.

I actually have no problem with a family friendly WWE ’cause that’s how they started back in the 80’s. They don’t need DX and these lame celebrity hosts.

They need to stop these celebrity hosts and go back to the General Manager thing. Plus, I’m sure the WWE champ title switching back and forth to Randy Orton to John Cena all the time is getting boring as well.

I haven’t been watching RAW for these reasons. If they can go back to an actual wrestling show, I’ll start watching again. These days, WWE has almost been like a fucking circus or Disney’s on ice or something.

The shocking death of Eddie Fatu (or Umaga)…

So we learn about the sudden death of Eddie Fatu aka Umaga yesterday, and it sent a shock through the wrestling community and the sports community, all around. Why are people shocked? You may ask? Even though this guy was always considered a mid-card wrestler, and he has always been under-appreciated and not too well known, I think his death sent controversy because, he’s a young guy and people think he might have done drugs/steroids. People think he would be another one of those wrestlers that died of a drug overdose. That’s my guess is why the news is all over it.

I wouldn’t quickly speculate that he died of drugs/steroids just yet. One thing to keep in mind, folks, that Eddie Fatu is an over weight guy. Being over weight and obesed can cause people problems, no matter the age or the health. Never know. Eddie could have died very healthy and clean. His heart attacks could have been caused by his weight.

Eddie Fatu hasn’t been in the WWE for that long. He first made his WWE debut in 2002 when he formed a tag team called 3 minute warning, which he was in with his cousin, Matt Anoa’i. They went under the names of Jamal and Rosey. The storyline was that this tag team was formed, by Eric Bishoff when he used to be RAW General Manager back at this time. Eddie then was released from WWE took a long break to wrestle for TNA for one year. Then he joined All Pro Japan Wrestling for a year.

In 2005, Eddie Fatu made his full time return under the new Umaga gimmick. The gimmick was inspired from Kamala and the Headshrinkers back in the earlier days of WWE. Eddie wrestled under Umaga from 2005-2009 in WWE, then he left to become part of Hulk Hogan’s Australian tour which he was just getting back home from before his death.

When Umaga first came to WWE, he first started out with a long feud with legend, Ric Flair. Then he became a sidekick partner to Vince and Shane McMahon when they were heels back then. As I said, Umaga has always been a mid-card performer, but he has made some main events.

For example, remember, the “Battle of the Billionaires” match at Wrestlemania 23? With Umaga vs. Bobby Lashley with Trump and McMahon on their corners? That would be Umaga’s biggest match of his career.

Eddie was fired from WWE ’cause he violated the wellness policy, being tested positive for drugs, I guess, but that doesn’t mean he could still be using drugs now though.

Such a shame what happened. I wish Umaga stayed in WWE longer ’cause I can definitely see him being a huge main event superstar along the lines of Triple H and Undertaker. It’s too bad that will never happen. Umaga maybe a scary looking dude and he may have played a heel for most of his career, but before his WWE release, he was actually getting cheers from the fans.

Umaga was quite a wrestling character, unique. Probably, one of the best gimmicks WWE created in a long while. It really is such a sad loss to the wrestling community. He really had an impact on wrestling fans.

When I get around to it, I will make a video collection of Umaga as a tribute for this blog. RIP Eddie.

RIP: Eddie Fatu (aka, Umaga of the WWE) 1973 – 2009

Former WWE wrestler, Umaga (real name: Eddie Fatu) has died. No cause of death has been announced publicly as of this moment. Eddie Fatu is a Samoan wrestler who also wrestled under the Jamal and Rosey tag team before creating his, Umaga, gimmick.

According to information online, the wrestler was in the hospital. He was hospitalized today after his wife found him not breathing with blood coming out of his nose. Fatu suffered two heart attacks and could not survive the second one. He was only 36 years old.

Very sad news. Definitely sounds like drugs or steroids to me. He was a very talented performer. I’ve always liked him. May he rest in peace.

Cool Video: Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair at Australian wrestling tour press conference…

Controversy is spreading the world of wrestling news online that Ric Flair beat up Hulk Hogan in a bloody mess at the press conference for Hogan/Bischoff’s Australian wrestling tour.

Was it real or a storyline?

Well, knowing that this is profesional wrestling, of course this is a storyline. Flair’s hand slap was obviously fake as his hand didn’t even touch Hogan’s head if you look closely.

Plus, there is a video where Hogan, Bischoff and Flair first arrive in Sydney, Australia before the press conference. Hogan and Flair are acting friendly to each other in that video. Hogan may have been pointing his fingers in front of Flair’s face, but I think Hogan was fooling around and joking…but notice Flair got in the same car that Hogan and Bischoff is in.

See for yourself.

Report: Chris Jericho in trouble for using gay slur at Horror Film Festival in Sacramento…

First Chris Jericho gets away with beating up female fans after a RAW show in Canada a while back, now the wrestler is getting himself into more trouble. Chris Jericho, the WWE Superstar, attended the Horror Film Festival in Sacramento, California where he had a speech on stage there in front of an audience. Using his usual wrestler heel persona he used gay slurs in hopes of TMZ posting his name all over the website, which that exactly happened. TMZ is now all about Chris Jericho.

http://www.tmz.com/2009/11/05/chris-jericho-wee-racial-slurs-wrestling-statement/

GLAAD does not accept his apology and reported the incident to Vince McMahon, chairman of the WWE.

http://www.tmz.com/2009/11/05/glaad-to-jericho-thanks-for-hollow-apology/

Whose side am I on? Definitely Jericho’s! When Jericho said TMZ would be all over it if he did something controversial, Jericho did it as a joke. He was making a point that if celebrities did something controversial, the media would be all over it, that’s why he brought Paris Hilton’s name into his speech. When he said, “It’s apple juice f*gs, post it all over TMZ, Chris Jericho, Chris Jericho, Chris Jericho…go ahead post it”.

I thought it was pretty funny, it made me laugh. Vince McMahon won’t fire or suspend Chris for this, Vinnie Mac would love it and say that Jericho is doing a good job at being the wrestler badguy like he always is.

I mean, Jericho never lost respect from his fans after the Film Festival because here he is meeting fans after the show.
