Bret “The Hitman” Hart… Montreal Screwjob incident… just some thoughts…

So over the summer during this covid-19 pandemic, I’ve read a few wrestling books to do more research and learning about the controversial wrestling incident that went on between Bret The Hitman Hart vs. Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 1997 ppv. One book I’ve read was Bret Hart’s “Hitman – My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling” and the other book I’ve read was “The Death of WCW” by R.D. Reynolds and Bryan Alvarez. Both of those books were really good and they both talked about the “Montreal Screwjob” a little bit.

To those of you who don’t know anything about the Montreal Screwjob, well let me break it down to you to tell you what it’s all about. The controversy revolves around Bret The Hitman Hart, Shawn Michaels and WWE owner Vince McMahon. Bret and Shawn Michaels not only had an on screen TV feud for years, they also hate each other in real life as well. They had both an on-screen and off-screen feud. Bret won the WWE/WWF title at Summerslam 1997 and Bret signed a contract to WCW and was about to jump ship to there. This got Vince all worried and didn’t want Bret to bring the WWE title to WCW and Bret said he wasn’t gonna do that, it wasn’t his plan. Hart was set to defend the title against Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 1997. McMahon originally wanted Bret to lose the title to Shawn at Survivor Series 1997 but Bret wasn’t going for it since he didn’t want to lose in his home country which makes sense. In a meeting… Bret, Shawn and Vince agreed that Bret would retain the title at Survivor Series 1997 by disqualification and Bret would lose the title or forfeit later on.

When it came to Survivor Series 1997 night where the match was taken place, Bret vs. Shawn match started. A little later in the match Shawn put Bret in his well-known finisher the Sharpshooter which is a submissive finisher. All of a sudden, Vince comes out to the ring and orders Earl Hebner to ring the bell which causes HBK Shawn Michaels to win the WWE title by submission.

It is called a “screwjob” ’cause Bret got screwed by McMahon. Vince promised Bret that he would retain the title by disqualification but Vince decided that HBK Shawn Michaels would win the WWE title on the last minute.

After that, this angered Bret so much… spitting Vince in the face at ring side and then Bret started destroying things. Bret even punched Vince in the face and knocked him out backstage. Vince and Bret feuded in the media for a long while but later on, they ended up burying the hatchet for good. Bret wanted to bury the hatchet with Vince ’cause he didn’t WWE burying his legacy and Bret wanted to be remembered. Bret got into the WWE Hall of Fame finally in 2006 and WWE made a DVD for him.

In the aftermath of the Screwjob incident, this lead to Vince’s iconic feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin and forced Vince to perform on television as this evil owner bad guy. This is what brought Mike Tyson in to feud with Stone Cold, though.

The Montreal Screwjob incident is the most talked about controversy in wrestling and is still being talked about even after all these years. I can see why Bret is so brutally honest when it comes to the wrestling business ’cause after that, he didn’t want to be screwed over ever again like that. He didn’t want to lose in his hometown of Canada and Vince forced him to lose. After reading Bret’s book (which is very good and definitely one of the best wrestling books I’ve ever read), I’m totally on his side.

People are saying it was a work but I don’t think it was. If it was then it would have been the greatest work of all time and it would be so hard to plan. Kevin Nash said it was a work but watch Bret Hart’s response in the video here:

It was a real incident that angered Bret for many years. Later in the years though since Vince and Bret buried the hatchet, they continued the “Screwjob” incident on WWE TV so they can have a closure which they did real good.

This makes me want to watch “The Wrestling With Shadows” documentary which is about Bret Hart but I didn’t know where to watch. I found out you can watch the documentary in it’s entirety on youtube so I’ll watch it on youtube this weekend.

Bret was always very protective of his career and his legacy and after the Montreal Screwjob incident, I can understand why. Bret may have buried the hatchet with McMahon but I don’t think he’ll ever bury the hatchet with Shawn. Bret will always have pure hatred for Shawn since Shawn himself was in on the whole “screwjob” thing. I think Shawn just wanted that WWE title and got what he wanted.

Bret is definitely one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, though. He is one of my top 10 favorites.

Brock Lesnar breaking Shawn Michaels arm on last night’s RAW was obviously a storyline but…

… they played it quite well.

The wrestling world of the internet is trying to make it seem like that Lesnar breaking Shawn Michaels HBK’s arm last night was real, when it was obviously fake, for a storyline angle. Back in the early 2000’s years when Brock was around WWE, he was looked at as a Monster, a tough guy you wouldn’t want to mess with. Ever since Lesnar returned to WWE, they’ve been making Brock look weak, but I see that the WWE did that on purpose ’cause they wanted to make it unpredictable, when Brock Lesnar the monster will make a return. Well, Brock the monster came back last night. Being the dominating force that he’s supposed to be. Shawn Michaels played the broken arm segment very well, making it seem realistic, maybe that’s why people on the internet thought it was real?

I remember back in the Attitude era, when Brock Lesnar teamed up with Vince McMahon to feud with Zach Gowen (the young, one legged wrestler). I remember the incident where Brock threw Zach down the stairs (search for the video in youtube, you’ll find it). Well last night’s segment with Brock, Shawn Michaels and Triple H brought back memories to the Zach Gowen angle. It was kind of similar.

Last night’s RAW ended really good though. Paul Heyman is a phenomenal mic worker when doing promos, he has always been amazing on the mic. I think Heyman is probably the best mic worker in wrestling history. He does a really good job on making you want to hate, Brock Lesnar, and be scared of him.

I’m not going to be watching “Summer Slam” this Sunday since I gave up watching WWE ppv’s, but I do kind of want to see the Brock vs. Triple H match. As for my prediction on who will win that match, probably Lesnar. Lesnar has been losing matches ever since he first returned to WWE this year, and WWE would want to make him go on top and push him heavily. Brock is only around for a short WWE run this year, but I heard that WWE is trying to extend Brock’s contract so he can be around more.

Lesnar matters in WWE ’cause he put a lot of guys over in the business, and he was the one who helped shape up the Attitude Era. WWE wanted him back this year ’cause they needed him back. WWE was getting stale without him, and the company is getting interesting again with him being back. Brock is the only one that can bring shock factor back in the WWE and he’s the only one who can do it well. WWE haven’t had anything shocking happen in a long while ever since the Nexus group took over the RAW set.

It was a pretty good RAW last night. Look like Jericho is getting a face turn (Good guy wrestler) ’cause’s been bringing his old catch phrases back lately.

Cool Video: Vince McMahon shows respect to Shawn Michaels by giving him his Hall of Fame ring…

In this video you can see HBK Shawn Michaels nervously waiting backstage, dressed in a tuxedo. Out comes Vince McMahon giving Shawn his Hall of Fame ring. As you can see they have a pretty long emotional hug.

This is a pretty powerful moment. This video really shows that Vince McMahon really loves what he does in the wrestling business. It really shows Vince McMahon really cares for his superstars that he works with. Yes, Vince and Shawn Michaels may have been long time enemies on the TV screen, but that’s just an act and a storyline. In reality, Vince and Shawn treat each other with the utmost respect. They are like brothers, a family.

Vince McMahon is a wrestling fan himself and he is a fan of all these superstars that he pays them for, he’s a fan just like all of us. While WWE is not for everyone, you still should treat Vince McMahon with respect, because this man works extremely hard to bring the WWE to where it is today.

Cool Video: Shawn Michaels HBK announces WWE return in latest youtube video…

Shawn Michaels posted a video today in his official youtube account, he revealed the shocking news that he signed a full time contract with WWE. The only problem is, that Shawn will only be a performer, not a wrestler. He’s done wrestling for good, but that doesn’t come as a surprise because Shawn always had health problems and he has serious back problems.

I don’t think Shawn is the RAW Anonymous GM, he’s probably going to perform with Triple H as DX, just to entertain the kids.

Enjoy this interesting video. This is Shawn Michaels home gym. Look at all the cool WWE memorabilia he has hanging on his wall. All that stuff is from his WWE career from the past.

Cool Photo: Triple H & Shawn Michaels makes return to WWE at Tribute to the Troops…

Triple H & Shawn Michaels will make their return to WWE as D-X, for the upcoming, “Tribute to the Troops” show on Dec. 18th. Not sure if this is a one off appearance with D-X or full time. Maybe a one off appearance with Shawn Michaels but Triple H will probably stick around WWE more. If these guys returned as DX then that means they are definitely not the RAW Anonymous GM either. The above photo is Triple H and Shawn celebrating Christmas with the troops along with Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton and John Cena. Look like, they just finished taking Nexus out of the ring?

Out of all the predictions people made on who the Anonymous GM is, lets cross off the list of the guys who are definitely not the GM so far: Michael Cole, Jim Ross, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels.

Tomorrow’s RAW is the WWE Slammy Awards so that ought to be interesting. The GM probably won’t be revealed sometime before the Royal Rumble PPV. I’m betting my money on it.

BREAKING NEWS: Bret “The Hitman” Hart to return to RAW next Monday!!!!!!

Vince McMahon made it official that Bret “The Hitman” Hart is returning to RAW after all these years. He will probably be feuding with Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon to finish off the controversial, Montreal Screwjob feud. Bret Hart will be guest hosting RAW next monday, Jan. 4th. The same day Hulk Hogan makes his debut on TNA. It’s WWE’s way of battling against TNA with the ratings.

I’ll definitely be watching RAW next week. This isn’t a one time only thing for Bret Hart. I think Bret Hart will stay around RAW until the next Wrestlemania. Bret Hart might be made the next RAW GM or something.

Looking forward to RAW next week. Will be interesting to see Bret Hart back. He’s not coming back to wrestle, since he can’t due to his health and being injury proned. This is more exciting than the Hulk Hogan in TNA. I will watch Hulk Hogan in TNA next Monday too, but I will record that on my DVR while watching RAW.

Thought: It’s not the PG rating that’s destroying WWE, DX and the celebrity guest hosts is…

I think the reason that so many people have been turned off by WWE’s current direction lately, is not because of their PG family friendly rating. Here is the problem.

I think the problem is that the WWE has turned itself into a mainstream family show, instead of an “actual” wrestling show like it once used to be in the 90’s.

All these celebrity guests hosts, is the big part of this thing. I don’t like this celebrity host thing at all WWE is doing with RAW. It’s silly. We don’t need celebrities in wrestling. The wrestling superstars are the celebrities themselves. What Vince doesn’t realize is that these celebs that host a RAW episode each week is overshadowing the star power of these wrestlers.

Another thing that is hurting WWE, is the new D Generation X tag team with Shawn Michaels and Triple H. Aren’t these guys a little too old for a gimmick like this? DX was great in their younger days during the Attitude era, but today? LOL! DX is way past their time. I’m sure the veteran wrestling fans like myself want Triple H and Shawn Michaels to end DX and go back to performing solo like they are best at. The only reason that WWE brought DX back full time is to help hype up this PG rating thing and to build a fanbase with children.

I actually have no problem with a family friendly WWE ’cause that’s how they started back in the 80’s. They don’t need DX and these lame celebrity hosts.

They need to stop these celebrity hosts and go back to the General Manager thing. Plus, I’m sure the WWE champ title switching back and forth to Randy Orton to John Cena all the time is getting boring as well.

I haven’t been watching RAW for these reasons. If they can go back to an actual wrestling show, I’ll start watching again. These days, WWE has almost been like a fucking circus or Disney’s on ice or something.

BREAKING NEWS: Bret the “Hitman” Hart is finally open and interested in returning to WWE!!!!!

Wrestling fans have been dying for a Bret “The Hitman” Hart return to the WWE for many years, well, you can believe that our wishes could be coming true. Bret is finally interested and open to the possibilities of returning to the WWE.

Wrestling fans know about the Montreal screwjob with Shawn Michaels over the WWE Championship, which is the reason Bret never wanted back in WWE. Bret and Vince never got along, it may look that they are in good terms.

Bret hasn’t signed a deal to return to WWE yet, but he has been in negotiations with Vince and the WWE about it. My guess is that Bret will return to WWE to finish his feud with Shawn Michaels? Probably. I don’t see any other reason.

More on it here:

http://www.wrestling-radio.com/?view=newsitem&hline=13071

If Bret Hart returns in the future, I’ll definitely start watching WWE again.

I guess the reason I stopped watching WWE ’cause I don’t like how they’re having celebrities hosting RAW everyweek. I’m waiting for the “celebrity guest host” thing on RAW to get over with.

Report: Three main event matches for “Wrestlemania 25” confirmed!!!

At Wrestlemania 25 this year, there will be three huge main event matches. The headlining main event will be “Randy Orton vs. Triple H for the WWE Champ”, then there is “Big Show vs. Edge for the Heavyweight title”, and then there is, “Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker”.

This means that John Cena does not have a match yet, leaving him options that he could wrestle against either Hulk Hogan or Stone Cold Steve Austin. Hogan and Austin are both rumoured to be wrestling at ‘Mania this year, but not against each other. If Hogan is confirmed to wrestle John Cena this year, then Stone Cold will probably wrestle Jericho. Those are just rumoured plans for ‘Mania, but the confirmed matches above are definitely happening.
