JJ will still produce “Star Trek III” and “MI: 5″…

Even if JJ signed on to direct “Star Wars 7”, he will still make “Star Trek III” and “Mission Impossible 5”, but will only serve as producer. I can’t blame him for jumping onto Star Wars, instead, though.

More on the story, here.

Can JJ save the Star Wars franchise after the crappy prequels? I think he possibly could. It would be great to see Luke Skywalker back as the leading character. Mark Hamill is not that old, now, he’s just 61. He’s still a young guy. I’m sure he can still do lightsaber fights  just fine. 🙂

Thought: Despite the lens flares and shaky cameras, I think JJ will stay true to the Star Wars universe…

A lot of people worry that JJ will take Star Wars to a different direction, I did at first, but after thinking about it, I think JJ will stay true to the Star Wars  world. He will try to make Star Wars similar to how George Lucas did it, but of course, JJ will put his own style into the film too. No, I don’t think JJ will load up the opening Star Wars crawl with lens flares, and I’m sure the John Williams opening theme will still be there.

Thing is, you just never know how JJ is going to make the next Star Wars film. He’s going to bring us a lot of secrecy just like he did with his previous films. We will never know if Han, Leia, or Luke will be a part of this story ’cause he’s going to be secretive about it. The same whether or not Darth Vader or Yoda will make a return. For “Super 8”, he wouldn’t show us the monster in the film until the film came out, and he wouldn’t reveal the “Star Trek: Into Darkness” villain until later. Who knows what he’ll pull on us for the next “Star Wars” film. Yes, the script for Star Wars 7 is already finished, so we’ll never know what the plot will be.

Now that a director is finally found, you should expect casting to start real soon. There is no chance of Natalie Portman or Hayden Christensen returning, of course, but Samuel L. Jackson has a chance in returning, though. If the story does continue the lives of Han, Leia and Luke, that would be pretty amazing. Lando needs to comeback too, and yes, Chewbacca as well. C3p0 and R2 will probably return. The whole Star Wars gang just might come back.

Honestly, I don’t want Vader to return, I hope they made a new villain. I think JJ will make the light saber battles and the tie fighter scenes pretty enjoyable. JJ might do a good job, so I will give him a chance, ’cause I liked what he did with Star Trek. That’s probably what Disney wanted him for ’cause they liked what he did with Trek.

JJ is not dumb. He will give what all Star Wars fan would want, a great Star Wars movie. He’ll do the Star Wars franchise justice like he did with Trek. I think he will do fine.

BREAKING NEWS: JJ Abrams first turned down to direct “Star Wars 7”, he’s now on board!!!

Welp, news broke the web today that JJ Abrams is officially on board to direct, “Star Wars 7”. First, JJ denied any involvement with Star Wars, that he didn’t want any part of it, but looks like he changed his mind. Look like JJ took a quick look at Lawrence Kasdan’s script and said, “I gotta do this!”.

My thoughts? It was too predictable to me that Lucasfilm/Disney was going to get JJ. I kind of called on it a long while back, and honestly, I’m kind of skeptical. Yes, he did a great job with the first “Star Trek” movie but, I still don’t like his style of film making. His overuse of the lens flare in movies does get pretty annoying, and so does his shaky cam technique. He is really good at action scenes, though, I’ll give him that respect

I just hope JJ doesn’t reboot Star Wars, and make the original characters young like he did with Star Trek. A young Han, Luke, and Leia? I don’t know, don’t make sense to me, since those characters were young in, “Episode IV: A New Hope”. Episode 7 will probably continue on from “Jedi”. I think Han, Luke, and Leia should still be played by the original actors. Harrison, Mark and Carrie. I can see JJ bringing them in somehow.

JJ has been getting some major franchises. First he got Mission Impossible, then Star Trek, and now Star Wars. I guess, JJ could possibly make a good Star Wars movie ’cause his Star Trek film did seem like Star Wars. I’ll give JJ a chance.

Now we wonder what’s going to happen to the Star Trek franchise, now that JJ is moving on to Star Wars, hmmmm….

About Star Wars 7,8,9 classical scoring, will John Williams return???

John Williams, the longtime Star Wars composer, did the music for all 6 Star Wars movies. The question, will he return for the next trilogy? I can see John returning for Star Wars 7, most definitely, but if he can stay alive when 8 and 9 comes around, that maybe kind of tough ’cause he might be dead by then. The guy is about 80 years old now. I’m not saying he’s gonna die, but what if he doesn’t make it when 8 and 9 comes around, ya know? That’s what I’m saying.

Even if they plan on not using John Williams and replacing a new composer, they still need to use the original opening “Star Wars” theme for the opening crawl in the beginning. That can’t be replaced.

Some people can and can’t see John Williams coming back. It’s a mixed feeling on him too. He has always been important for the Star Wars legacy. So yeah, I can see a definite %100 chance of John Williams returning. I can’t see him turning it down. Hopefully, he’ll live long enough to compose the next trilogy. It’s amazing that he’s still composing movies at this age, though. I’m pretty sure Disney will offer him a huge deal that he can’t refuse.

Report: Harrison Ford wants in for “Star Wars 7” as Han Solo???

We haven’t heard from the original cast on whether or not they want back in on the new Star Wars movie, but it looks like Harrison Ford was quick to respond first. Sources close to Harrison, was said that he might be interested in reprising his famous role, as Han Solo. Will we see an aging, Han Solo, back in his trademark white shirt and black vest? Sounds like Harrison wants more than just a cameo, he wants back in on the leading role for the next three films.

Harrison maybe 70, but the dude is still doing action movies. He did a lot of his own action stunts in, “Cowboys & Aliens”. I can see Harrison, coming back. It’ll be great to see him and Chewbacca, back. The Millennium Falcon too!

It’s no surprise to me that Harrison would be the first cast member to respond. Han Solo should come back. The whole gang should reunite for a new trilogy. It would be amazing if the original cast came back. If they did, I would definitely see it in theater for sure.

“Star Wars 7” casting and it’s director…

Now that “Star Wars 7” is confirmed, people are already talking about who to write it, direct it, and star in it. As for who to star in it. They are naming other actors to play the original characters from the original trilogy. If they replace the original actors, that’s going to be so wrong and disrespectful to the Star Wars legacy. Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, etc. They all need to be played by the original actors. If they replace those characters with new actors, I wouldn’t be interested. They maybe getting old but this is science fiction, anything is possible. I can’t see a Star Wars movie without Mark, Carrie, Harrison and Billy Dee in the cast. I would think they’ll be reprising their roles.

As for the director, a lot of people are naming such ridiculous choices such as JJ Abrams, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Christopher Nolan, Kevin Smith, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, etc. Really people? Those guys are not going to want anything to do with these movies. Leave JJ Abrams out of this, ’cause he already has the Star Trek reboot. He doesn’t need another big franchise.

As for my choice on who direct it, they should just hire an unknown director, not a big name. We don’t need a big name director hogging the Star Wars spotlight, you know? Back when Star Wars IV: “A New Hope” was made, George Lucas was an unknown back then. George directed all Star Wars movies except for “Empire Strike Back” and “Return of the Jedi”. The directors for “Empire” and “Jedi” were unknown directors. They’ll probably keep it like that with the new movies. A big name director is just going to overshadow the film’s cast.

While, I’m sure it’s possible to bring back Vader and Palpatine, I would suggest they create new leading villains. I’m sure they will.

Even if George Lucas, no longer wants to be involved, I’m sure he’ll still help and give the new team, story ideas a little bit. It’s going to be interesting to see what they’re gonna do with the new “Star Wars”. I’m sure it’s gonna be action packed with a lot of lightsaber battles, and I’m sure we’ll see some tie fighter out of space fights too. More importantly, they need to make the story right. So I hope they do a good job with the writing. I’m just intrigued by the idea of what Luke’s life will be like after, “Jedi”. I hope they don’t disappoint. They better do it good and not mess it up.

Kev

Edit to add: The “Heir to the Empire” writer, Timothy Zahn, has some great ideas. I like his idea of the original actors having smaller roles. I like the family thing. Read this interesting article at Entertainment Weekly, here.

Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher to reprise their roles as Luke and Leia for “Star Wars 7”??? Seems so…

Before the Disney and Lucasfilm merging, George Lucas, contacted none other than Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher first before everyone else got to know about Lucas’s plans. George didn’t really ask them to come back as Luke and Leia, he just wanted to give them the news first that they were going to go on to make, “Star Wars 7, 8, and 9”. Why did George give the news first to Mark and Carrie? Probably because the next trilogy will be written for Luke and Leia to return, and George wanted to get their blessing.

Just like most of us Star Wars fans, even Mark Hamill has mixed feelings on the Disney/Lucasfilm team up. Will Luke and Leia return for the next film? It wouldn’t surprise me, if “Star Wars 7” will be written for them to return.

If they are coming back, I hope they get Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Billy Dee Williams back as cameos. I think it’ll be cool, if they continue the story of, Luke Skywalker. I hope that’s what they’re going for.

What will the plot be for “Star Wars 7”???

Will the plot for the next Star Wars movie continue after “Return of the Jedi”? I think it should! It should continue the story of Luke Skywalker. Since there will be no more Vader and Master Palpatine, they’re gonna have to create a new Star Wars villain which I’m sure they’ll be able to do easily. Maybe there should be a new young character aspiring to be a Jedi, and Luke can be his mentor/trainer. Honestly, they shouldn’t go for that direction, ’cause the plot “Training young jedi’s” have been done for the past 6 films. Time for something new and fresh. They could have a new plot where Luke, continue on for new adventures. Of course, the original cast should return like Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Billy Dee Williams (Lando), etc. I’m sure we’ll see the return of Chewbacca, C3pO, R2D2, and all other lovable characters we know. I’m sure they’ll create a bunch of new characters.

If they can get Mark Hammil back for Luke Skywalker in the leading role again, that would be freakin’ amazing. I doubt the original Star Wars gang will come back ’cause they’re getting old but you never know though! Never say never! If none of them wants to come back, then there should be more prequels. Like do prequels set between, “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope”, like they did with the “Force Unleashed” video games. If they can make live action movies based on the “Force Unleashed” video games, that would be sweet ’cause those games are great, and I can see those being made into films.

2015, is still far away yet, they need to hire writers, and directors before they start casting. It’s a long road to make a movie, they have to start off small and build their way up.

I’ll give Disney owning Lucasfilm a chance, ’cause it is a great opportunity to make Star Wars and Indy much better films if you think about it!  Keep in mind that Lucasfilm, also owns, “Willow”, and I can see Disney bringing back, Willow Ufgood to the big screen again. Warwick Davis has repeatedly said in interviews, that he’s willing to play that character again.

Anyway, back to Star Wars, it’ll be interesting to see what they’re going to do with the plot and characters of “Star Wars 7”. I’m interested.

Now that Disney owns the rights to Indiana Jones too, what’s gonna happen to this franchise???

Before George Lucas, announced retirement, George, Steve, and Harrison has been planning an, “Indy 5”. They have been talking about “Indy 5” in interviews, extensively. Now this makes people wonder what’s going on with the future of, Indiana Jones. Questions that need to be asked.

  • Will Steven Spielberg still direct, without George Lucas?
  • Will Harrison Ford still play Indy even if Spielberg and Lucas both steps down?
  • Will Indiana Jones become all kiddy friendly now that Disney owns Lucasfilm?
  • Can this franchise continue to be successful and huge without the original team: Ford, Spielberg, and Lucas?
  • Will the next Indy film leave off from “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” or, will they totally re-boot the series?

Paramount Pictures have been the home of Indiana Jones, for many years, and now Indiana Jones have found a new home. I’m going to miss the Paramount intro at the beginning of each Indy film, where the intro will show the Paramount mountain with stars flying around it. We might see the Disney logo as the intro instead.

I’m a huge Indiana Jones fan. Love all the movies, even the fourth one that everyone is hating on. The Indiana Jones movies are supposed to be violent action movies with comedy thrown into the mix. “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, will always be the best Indy film. That film is a classic, and an essential. I love it way too much. That is one movie, I’ll never get tired of watching.

I just have mixed feelings on Disney owning Lucasfilm. I like the idea of them being in charge of Star Wars ’cause they deserve better films, but Indy however, is different. I’m pretty skeptical of Disney being in charge of Indy. I wish Steve Spielberg would try to get the rights from Lucas about Indy, ’cause only Spielberg can make great Indy movies. Disney might ruin ’em. If Ford and Spielberg are both not down for the next Indy film, they might as well re-boot the Indy franchise. Which wouldn’t surprise me, that they might be planning an Indiana Jones re-boot.
