Report: Stephen King announced he is writing a sequel to “The Shining”, it is titled, “Dr. Sleep”…

Well finally, Stephen King is returning to horror! He has been staying away from the genre for a long while, writing other things. While, Stephen King has just finished and published a new book, “11/22/63”, which is set to hit stores, November 8th, Stephen just announced he is writing a sequel to, “The Shining”, which was first published way back in, 1977.

Stephen actually announced the news for the sequel way back in 2009, while on a promotional tour for, “Under the Dome”. The name of the sequel of the Shining is titled, “Dr. Sleep”, announced on King’s official website.

Danny Torrance was 5 years old in the original, in the sequel, he is now 40 years old and terminally ill in a hospital. It takes place years later after the events of the first novel. The website says that the story will be about a travelling group of vampires called, The Tribe.

Interesting. So glad he’s coming back to horror, the genre that’s he is best at. Danny’s father, Jack Torrance can’t come back because he was killed by the Overlook at the end of the first novel…but considering that there are vampires in the sequel, could Jack come back as a vampire? LOL, just a thought. Stephen King is always coming up with crazy ideas so you never know.

Hhheeeerreeee’sssss JOHNNY! Sorry, had to do it.

Report: Jonathan Demme to direct Stephen King’s “11/22/63″…

Stephen King’s next book “11/22/63” is not out in stores yet, but the book is already being made into a movie for the big screen, and the film will be directed by Jonathan Demme. The man who brought us, “Silence Of the Lambs”.

The story for “11/22/63” is about a 35 year old English teacher named, Jake Epping, who tries to go back in time to save JFK’s life from the assassination. The book is set to hit bookstores everywhere, November 8th of this year.

Deadline, reports.

To read excerpts of “11/22/63” visit Stephen King’s website.

What do you think? Will Jake save John F. Kennedy’s life? I think so yes. I think King will make JFK survive the assassination so someone else will play Kennedy for the film.

King’s newest books have been really crazy and whacky as of late. This book sounds even whackier.

I’ll probably buy this book when it comes out, sure. I buy every new book Stephen comes out with. The book must be that good if it’s already being made into a film. I wonder what made King go political all of a sudden? He has been staying away from horror as of late which is the genre he is most known for. He’s been writing a lot of sci-fi lately.

I wish he would write a horror novel again.

Report: Stephen King himself, speaks on Universal canning “The Dark Tower”…

Yesterday, the shocking news was announced that Universal has decided to throw Ron Howard’s “Dark Tower” series in the trash. Stephen King, the master of horror himself, was quick to respond to this. He writes to”Entertainment Weekly” saying that he isn’t surprised about Universal not wanting to do it. He also pokes fun at the “Fast and the Furious” series and says that Ron Howard is committed to doing the project. Ron will find a different studio to make the “Dark Tower” movies and TV series.

Read more, here.

Other than Stephen being a book writer, he knows a lot about the movie business. So he knows what he’s talking about. Stephen have been a screen writer, director, actor, etc. He’s done it all in the movie business, so he knows how movie studios work.

This is hollywood. It’s a tough business. You’ll run into a lot of big shots who is all about money & ego. I’m still rooting for Warner Bros. or Paramount to pick it up.

Report: Universal refuses to make Ron Howard’s “Dark Tower” series…

Poor Ron Howard! I’m sure he’s pretty upset and heartbroken about this news, but I’m sure another major movie studio will be making it instead. After all the hard work Ron Howard did with the “The Dark Tower” series, Universal has decided the studio is not going forward with the projects. The people behind Universal would not say why they wouldn’t make “The Dark Tower”, but my guess is that it’s way too much money to make. I mean, think about it, with the three films for the big screen and the TV series in between the films, that’s quite a lot. That would cost a fortune, so it’s gotta be about the money.

Don’t worry though, people. As I said above, another major studio will pick it up to make it. It could be possible that Warner Bros. or Paramount Pictures would want it.

A lot of people are giving this series negative feedback because of Akiva Goldsman being the writer (he’s not everyone’s favorite writer), but I’m willing to give this a chance. I’m a huge fan of the Dark Tower books. I’ve read all 7 of them and love them all.

Report: Stephen King wants Lilo to play the new Carrie…

The new “Carrie” remake has found it’s writer. MGM has hired play writer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to pen the script for the new “Carrie” re-boot. Stephen King himself speaks to Entertainment Weekly about his opinion on the remake.

Stephen says he loves the original “Carrie” movie that was directed by Brian Depalma. He says if they could get Lindsay Lohan to star as the new Carrie White and get either David Lynch or David Cronenberg to direct it, he might like the remake.

Read his statement about the “Carrie” remake, here.

If you think Stephen loves all of his movies that were based on his books, then you are wrong. King is a very honest man. He isn’t afraid to say if one of his movies is really bad and he always hated Kubrick’s version of “The Shining” starring Jack Nicholson.

Another thing, the new “Carrie” remake needs to have a cameo appearance by Sissy Spacek herself. A “Carrie” remake could be good if made right. It needs a good script, good casting, and good directing.

Book Review: “Full Dark, No Stars” by Stephen King

This is the latest Stephen King novel that was released last year in 2010. It is also the latest short story collection. Stephen King has released a series of short story collection novels such as “Four Past Midnight”, “Skeleton Crew”, “Night Shift”, “Nightmares & Dreamscapes”, “Hearts In Atlantis”, “Just After Sunset”, and next here comes, “Full Dark, No Stars”.

I’m a huge Stephen King fanatic. I’ve collected most of his entire collection of novels, I only need like 14 or 15 of his books left to collect them all.

“Full Dark, No Stars” has 4 short novels. King still focuses on horror in this novel but he takes the genre into a different turn. It’s more realistic. He focuses on the mystery and the suspense in the stories. Below is the 4 stories and I will write a review for each story, what I think about them.

“1922” – Like the title says, this story is set in the year 1922. It tells the story of a man named Wilfred James, which he is the narrator of the story, telling the story in journal written form. He wrote a journal making a confession that he murdered his wife. He had his 14 year old son, Henry, help murder her. They also help hide the body, so they won’t get caught. I thought this was an incredibly shocking story. It’s pretty dark and King takes his storytelling to the extreme in this one. I think this is my favorite story of the whole novel. This is the only story in this book that I think that should be made into a movie for the big screen. It’s a bone chilling story and it will grab you. I read this story in one full day, I just couldn’t stop reading ’cause I was dying to know what was going to happen at the end.

“Big Driver” – This story is about a woman named, Tess, who is an author and is going on a road trip. She stops at some place to get directions because she was lost. The woman who gave her directions, to an area where she would get picked up by this huge man, whose nick name is, Big Driver. Tess is kidnapped and raped by this man. This is a revenge story, about survival. It was a pretty good story, but there are too many revenge stories where women who are rape victims come back to kill their rapist. The story was good half way through, but I didn’t like how it ended.

“Fair Extension” – This story is about a man named, Dave Streeter, who is dying of lung cancer. He talks with a man named, George Elvid, who sells extensions. Elvid offers Streeter a chance to live another 15 years if he pays 15% of his salary for everyone one of his years. The story focuses on trying to survive on cancer. This is what this story is mostly about, it’s about cancer. I think King’s goal with this story is that this is his way of bringing awareness to cancer and he did a good job with that I think.

“A Good Marriage” – This story is about a woman named Darcy Anderson who is married to her husband, Bob, for 27 years. After all these years, she’s been married to him, she never knew that he was a serial killer who murdered women. This is a serial killer story. In the book, Stephen said, this story was inspired from the BTK murders. You would think that Bob tries to kill Darcy in this book like in the horror films, but King takes this story in a different direction, where he doesn’t kill her and tries to be a good husband. The ending to this story is pretty shocking. This is my second favorite story of the novel.

This is not Stephen King’s best short story collections. I think “Nightmares & Dreamscapes”, and “Hearts in Atlantis” were the best, but “Full Dark, No Stars” is an okay read.

If you like Stephen King, you should check it out.

BREAKING NEWS: Javier Bardem closing deal to star as Roland “The Gunslinger” Deschain for Ron Howard’s “Dark Tower”…

Not too long ago, Ron Howard and Universal Pictures offered Oscar winner, Javier Bardem, the leading role to star as Roland “The Gunslinger” Deschain for Stephen King’s “Dark Tower” film that Ron Howard is directing. It seems that Javier is accepting the role because he is closing the deal. Brian Grazer’s, Image Entertainment, will be producing the film along with Akiva Goldsman and Stephen King himself.

The film will have 7 movies and TV series in between each film. Will Javier stay committed to doing all that? That’s a lot of acting.

Deadline, reports.

I know many people will give this casting choice mixed opinions, but I like it. I think Javier will nail the role with no problem.

Now they’ll have to cast someone for Suzanne and Eddie Dean, and the little boy, Jake.

Report: Stephen King in talks to write an episode for “The Walking Dead” Season 2…

At this year’s “C2e2” (Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo) convention in Chicago, Laurie Holden who plays Andrea in “The Walking Dead” spoke at the IGN panel. She revealed some big news that the master of horror, Stephen King will write an episode for “The Walking Dead” Season 2 which is pretty exciting news. It’s no surprise to me that Stephen King could be a fan of the show ’cause I figure he would be.

It’s nice to see that “The Walking Dead” TV series finally picked up Stephen King to do something for the series. The series could use a writer like Stephen. He could make an episode that would actually be very scary.

See the full story here, at IGN.

As you can see in the video, they reveal some plot points for Season 2. Season 2 will start off right after where Season 1 ended. The main focus of the story will be about Andrea, she will deal with the aftermath of her suicide attempt from the CDC building explosion in the episode, “TS-19”. The article says she will have feuds with Dale and Shane. Rick Grimes and his friends will go travel to Hershell’s Farm, probably another place for safety for them away from the walkers. The article also says the next season will get darker and more gruesome. So I can’t wait!!!

I’d like to see John Carpenter or George A. Romero direct an episode for Season 2, maybe even Rob Zombie. I hope Season 2 will be good and won’t disappoint. I’m sure it will be just as good as the first season.

Report: Stephen King, the man himself, speaks on the big screen version of “The Stand”!!!

Stephen King himself, is quick on responding to “The Stand” remake that is greenlighted to hit the big screen. King wrote to Entertainment Weekly, speaking his honest thoughts, and they aren’t too kindly either. He says, no actor would be able to top the performance of Gary Sinise as Stu Redman, he thought Gary’s performance was the best. King suggest  Jake Gyllenhaal to take over the role. King admits he never knew about this until the news hit hard on the internet, so King obviously browse the web like all of us. Even King knows that this would be tough to make this a 2 hour movie, but he said a trilogy could work. He wants Billy Bob Thornton to play the Trashcan Man. He also joked there would be a lot of heavy metal music for the soundtrack.

Read more on it,  here.

Ouch! Sounds like he’s not too happy with the remake and likes the  mini series better! Even King can be critical of his own projects!

Report: Sometimes dead is better…yet another Stephen King movie on the way to the big screen, “Pet Sematary” re-boot greenlighted…

First, “The Dark Tower” with Ron Howard, next here comes, “The Stand”, and now here comes the “Pet Sematary” re-boot!!! There is quite a lot of Stephen King movies on the way to the big screen! The “Pet Sematary” re-boot will be written by “1408” writer, Matthew Greenberg.

The story revolves around the Creed family moving to a new home. When just settling in their new home, their son is killed. An old cemetery was found, it was said that when you bury the dead in that cemetery, they come back to life. Louis Creed, the main character, takes his dead son to the cemetery to bring him back to life. When his son did come back to life, he ended up being evil. The original film starred, Dale Midkiff, Fred Gwyne and Denise Crosby.

Read more on the story, here.

Hmmmm, sounds like a perfect project for Rob Zombie! Imagine what Rob Zombie could do to it? He could make a gruesome and disturbing version.

So you ask, what’s with all the Stephen King movies being greenlighted lately? Well for one, he’s the most famous author in the world. He’s an icon. Hollywood wants to do films on everyone one of his books as they possibly can. Plus, Stephen writes his books as if they were a movie. I’m also sure that Stephen had a hand in getting these movies greenlighted. He would want Hollywood to do movies on all of his books. Stephen wrote screenplays for most of his own movies as well.

I’m such a huge Stephen King fan. I’m obsessed with his writing. I’ve been reading his books ever since I was a kid in high school. Collected all of them. I still buy his new books every time he comes out with a new one. I just got his new short story collection, “Full Dark, No Stars” which I will read soon. I’m reading the Harry Potter series right now. Stephen King is my favorite author, die hard fan.
