Ron Howard does the Ice Bucket at the Abbey Road crosswalk…

Film director, Ron Howard, is signed on recently to direct a documentary about, The Beatles. Here is Ron Howard himself in London at Abbey Road studios. Then he takes a little walk over to the legendary crosswalk where the Beatles crossed the street to shoot the cover for their album, “Abbey Road”.

Then he makes a few challenges to his longtime collaborator, Tom Hanks and his former co-star, Henry Winkler. Remember, Ron started out as an actor for the TV sitcom, “Happy Days” in which he played Archie Cunningham and then he gave up acting to direct movies instead.

I like Ron Howard. He’s a great film-maker. He’s made a lot of great movies. The latest movie I saw of his was the race car movie, “Rush” and it was a great film. You should check it out.

I’m impressed with Hetfield’s cover of Beatles, “In My Life”… screw the haters…

I think James Hetfield did an incredible job performing acoustic by himself which you don’t see that much. As usual whenever it comes to James Hetfield and Metallica, there’s always mixed opinions. People will start being opinionated jackasses and all that shit. What’s new when it comes to Metallica? This isn’t Metallica. This is James Hetfield solo!!!

I think he did a great job.

It showed that he has talent and he can really sing. No lip syncing there at all. He’s got the good head voice and sings the high notes well. He also sung with heart and passion. It also shows that he is more than just metal and heavy music. This is a softer side of him.

I think James should consider doing a solo career. He should do a solo album. I don’t see him doing that anytime soon since he’s heavily focused on Metallica but who knows. Maybe James will consider a solo career whenever Metallica is done?

Haters are gonna hate. I never listen to ’em.

Rollingstone’s Top 500 album list is disappointing, just like most of their top lists are…

Rollingstone magazine revealed their top 500 albums list. Of course, the Beatles dominate the top 10. While most Rollingstone top lists are crap, I agree with no. 1. Beatles, “Sgt. Peppers” is the greatest album ever made, in my opinion. I’m disappointed that Led Zep is not even in the top ten, they are way up there.

Check out the list, here.

I think I’ll do my own version of the Greatest Albums of all time list, I’ll at least do a top 20, and you betcha, Led Zep will dominate my version. I’ll do my version, sometime this week.

5 of John Lennon’s best songs…

Lennon was gunned down 31 years ago today, and I thought it would be cool to post my favorite Lennon songs in his solo career.

Here they are:

  • ImagineI could listen to this song a 100 times a day and would never get bored. We all should love it. It’s his anthem.
  • Cold Turkey  – This song is true rock n’ roll at it’s best. Lennon sounds angry in this song and definitely had a message to say in it.
  • Working Class Hero This is one of my favorite acoustic songs of all time. I could probably do a cover of it myself.
  • Give Peace A ChanceJust a beautiful song, period.
  • Power to the PepoleLennon was definitely the best at writing songs about Peace and Love. He definitely helped changed the world with his songs.

That’s it, enjoy, and RIP Lennon.

10 years ago today we lost George Harrison…

John Lennon has always been the most popular Beatle out of the 4, but it’s always been about George for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love Lennon too, but George has always been my favorite Beatle out of the 4. I just think he was the better songwriter. Better singer and guitar player than Lennon. George’s solo music and the songs he wrote for the Beatles, meant so much to me.

I was heartbroken when I first heard the news of George’s death. “All Things Must Pass” is one of my favorite albums of all time. Love that record to death. RIP George, and thanks for the inspiration.

Happy Birthday John Lennon

Like most people, I’m a huge Beatles & John Lennon fanatic myself. It really is too bad that John won’t be around to see Sir Paul McCartney get married today. John would have been at his wedding for sure. John would probably even be Paul’s best man.

I hope this marriage goes well for Paul. Lets hope Nancy doesn’t do anything stupid to hurt the man like his last wife, Heather Mills did.

Best of luck, Paul.

Happy 70th to Ringo Starr!!!

George and John maybe gone, but Sir Paul and Ringo are still with us. Yes, Ringo is now 70 today. Happy Birthday, Ringo! We’re happy you’re still with us! Ringo Starr is a badass and he still is a badass. Cool guy! If I were to meet a Beatle in person, it would be Ringo.

Ringo is an amazing solo artist too, I like his music more than Paul’s to be honest. Check out, “Walk with You” that he sings with Paul. The song sounds like a Beatles song even though it isn’t. I wish George and John were playing on this track too. 😦 This is a Beautiful song though. Perfectly written and very simple.
