Report: Judge Dredd reboot greenlighted to hit theaters in what? Yes you guess it, 3D…what else…

Judge Dredd, the comic book superhero, will be getting a reboot in 3D. Thanks to the Cannes Festival, Andrew McDonald’s, DNA Films made an official deal with Reliance Big Entertainment and IM Global to finance the film. A script has already been written and ready by Alex Garland and will be directed by “Vantage Point” director, Pete Travis.

More on it here:

I wonder what Sly’s thoughts on this are? I doubt he will reprise the Judge Dredd role, but maybe they will try and get Sly for a different role? Maybe even a cameo for Sly hopefully? I hope they’ll make it a better movie as I’ll admit, Stallone’s version of “Judge Dredd” was a pretty bad film. Sly made a good Judge Dredd, yes, but it’s the story, the writing, and bad casting. Rob Schneider’s character was very annoying in that film.

Report: Why do girls scream and cry for Justin Bieber? It’s because he’s the Beatles of this generation…

Teen star, Justin Bieber appeared on Oprah and admitted he doesn’t understand why girls scream and cry for him. Remember, the Beatles had this same exact thing back when they were Justin’s age. Will Justin be just as big as the Beatles when he gets older?

Most people would find Justin annoying ’cause he’s a kid singer. I’m not into kid singers much but I absolutely have no problem with Bieber. His songs are not that bad, and almost kind of Beatles like. Again, I wouldn’t buy his albums and wouldn’t see him live, but I could listen to him on the radio, that’s all cool with me. His music is fun. In my opinion, Bieber is way better than Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers musically. I still can’t get that “Baby” song out of my head!

Thought: A couple of reasons why I disagree with barbell on a bench…

So I’ve been slamming the idea of bodybuilders laying on a bench and doing these heavy barbell presses while pushing the bar up in the air. I’ve never explained why in detail really, so here is my take on why I find barbell pressing pretty foolish.

No. 1 – I find it nothing more of a showoff of other bodybuilders, big time. It’s like, “GGggggrrrrrrrrrrr….I can lift 350 lbs barbell on a bench and you can’t, bwahahahaha…”. I look at it as bodybuilders trying to impress other people in the gym.

No 2. – I find it as a cover up that they are not real good at fitness like they think they are.

No. 3 – It is a brutal workout and it could kill your energy doing other workouts. Especially your cardio.

There you have it. Those are reasons why I disagree with it. I know plenty of great chest exercises that is way better than benching. It is possible to get huge chest pecs without benching. It’s not really important and not needed. I’ll probably do benching like once in a blue moon when really needed.

I don’t workout to impress people and not to show off how I tough and cool I look. I do it to become an athletic person. In high school, I never played sports so this is my chance to become athletic.

Film Review: Nightmare on Elm Street…

Starring: Jackie Earle Haley, Kellan Lutz, Kyle Gallner, Rooney Mara, Connie Britton

Directed by: Samuel Bayer

Today I just saw the “Nightmare on Elm Street” remake and here is my review:

Plot/synopsis: The story to the remake is pretty much the same as the original. Freddy Kreuger, a child killer, who was burned to death years ago. Appears in people’s dreams. Freddy murders people in their dreams which causes them to die in real life.

Again, this movie is getting mixed reviews and opinions by fans and the critics. Some hate it and some LOVED it! Me? Well, I fucking LOVED IT! Seriously, I did!!! I have always been a fan of Freddy movies. The Robert Englund ones. I probably liked the first couple of “Elm St.” films with Englund, the rest of them I didn’t care for and were kind of stupid. The “Elm St.” series went downhill after “The Dream Master”. I know the 1st “Elm St.” movie was directed by horror legend Wes Craven. Notice how Hollywood seems to be remaking every Wes Craven film these days (“The Hills Have Eyes”, “The Last House on the Left”, etc.)?

Some people claim that the Freddy Kreuger role, belongs to Robert Englund and him only. Well, that’s where I disagree. The Freddy Kreuger character is just make up. You can’t recognize the actor anyways and you can always copy that speaking voice easily. Plus, I’m sure the film makers at Platinum Dunes, got Englund’s blessing for going on without him, so I’m sure Englund is all cool with the remake.

The reason I loved this version, was that this is much darker and more evil. The new Freddy’s make up maybe bad and horrible looking but hello, it’s supposed to be like that. The new Freddy look is supposed to be disgusting. They wanted it more disturbing looking than the Englund version. The Jackie Earle Haley version looks exactly like a burnt victim. In the earlier, “Elm St.” movies, the Englund films, they made it look like he was a child killer…but in this one, they wanted Freddy to be more human like. They wanted to have the new Freddy to have some character than the Englund version. This version showed more of Freddy’s past of how he appeared to be today. The remake, made it turned out to be that Freddy Kreuger is a child molester, not just a child killer. So it makes a lot of sense of why Freddy only appears in teens dreams when they go to sleep. I think Jackie Earle Haley’s version is more creepier and darker than the Englund versions. Yes, Haley’s version still have that comical sense of humor like Englund but not much. This film wanted to keep Freddy scary, not humorous.

The plot and storyline maybe similar but the whole movie is pretty different than the original. I was surprised to see “Friday Night Light’s” star, Connie Britton, have a role in this. It’s not just a cameo with Connie, she’s one of the leading roles. Her acting is great as always. They wanted to keep this a serious horror film. Make it scary and creepy. It was kind of scary and creepy in my opinion. They tried not to make it a popcorn flick and made it an actual horror film. The film was extremely dark and it actually made me a little uncomfortable in certain scenes. I think this is one of the best horror remakes in a long while. In fact, I wouldn’t even call it a remake. I would call it a stand alone film. It’s the way the original “Elm St.” movie should have been. No offense to Mr. Craven and Mr. Englund. Looking forward to the sequel now!!!

Score for “Nightmare on Elm. St” = **** (4 stars as in = “excellent”)

“Crazy Heart” starring Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal

Last night, I watched the movie, “Crazy Heart”, the drama starring Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Collin Farrell and Robert Duvall also have roles in this film. I bought the DVD for this movie over the weekend and I never saw the film before until now. Yes, the reason I wanted to watch is because Jeff Bridges won an Oscar for this role. It turned out to be a very good film. Beautiful I must say. Told a great story.

It’s about this famous country star, Bad Blake (Bridges role) who is trying to have a better and bigger career in music. Bad Blake keeps playing the small bars and bowling alleys when he should be getting bigger deals playing bigger places. He is strictly a country and western singer. Bad Blake is an alcoholic who has a bad attitude with people, he swears & cusses a lot, which is how he got the nickname, “Bad Blake”. Blake finally gets a good gig in Sante Fe by not playing in a bowling alley but playing in a big arena. While there he meets this woman named Jean (Maggie Gyllenhaal’s role), who is a journalist for a newspaper that wants to interview him about his music career. Of course, they ended up falling in love after Jean noticing Blake becoming friends with her 4 year old son, Buddy. Later on, Blake’s romance with Jean begins to fall apart and so does Blake’s life & music career.  That’s when Blake finally realizes he needs to go to AAA to get sober. Do Bad Blake and Jean get back together after getting sober? Watch the film yourself and find out.

I’m not into romance and love stories that much, but I didn’t find this a romance movie. It’s about a guy suffering alcoholism and trying to deal with it in life. It’s a film about alcoholics trying to become a better person. There are plenty of alcoholics out there in the real world, and I think this film was meant to help them too. Maybe that’s the point of this film being made is helping real alcoholics to get sober.

Jeff Bridges maybe well known for his role as the Dude in the “Big Lebowski”, I agree that’s a great role, but his role as Bad Blake is better in my opinion. Bad Blake is similar to the Dude but Jeff played Blake better. Jeff Bridges has always been an amazing actor. Some of my other favorite movies he’s been in are: “Starman”, “K-Pax”, “King Kong” and “Tron”. I find “Crazy Heart” to be his best film. Seriously,  check it out if you haven’t yet. You may not be a country music fan but you don’t have to be. Just watch it for the story and the acting.

Training with intensity and brutality…

One way I got the fit physique in a short period of time is training with intensity. That is one way to do it. I mean with “intensity”. Means being brutal in your training. That’s not by doing light weights and doing less reps all the time. I mean workin out fuckin’ hard! I like going with the intensity. Doing the full 10 reps nonstop, with only 30 seconds rest in between, that’s it. With intensity, you want to sweat like a pig and breathing really hard after a workout. Making one last rep being hard to lift. That’s intensity. You might feel a little sore a few days, but you want to feel a little sore. Not pain, but a little sore is okay ’cause it means your muscles are working. You’re feeling the burn. That’s what it’s doing. That’s what you want to do. I would like to film myself working out to show how “intense” I like to train but I don’t have a camera person to hold the camera for me at the gym. I will try to get someone to do it very soon. I do plan on making workout videos soon, I just need someone I know to volunteer to videotape my workout sessions, I will get someone on my own. I’ll get someone from Greenwich to be my camera man.

I probably won’t be doing barbell presses on a bench that much, probably hardly at all ’cause honestly, I find it kind of silly to me and a little weak. People think benching is important in bodybuilding but I’ve read that if you don’t want to do it, then you don’t have to. There are plenty of other chest exercises that can work your pecs even stronger than a bench. I find pushups and dumbell flies/presses to do the trick, I like those better.

I love being fit and healthy. It is definitely a huge life changer. I have gotten so strict on my nutrition than ever before. I avoid anything with high fructose corn syrup at all costs now, at least I try to. I recently discovered Quinoa to add to my nutritional health programs. I’ve been looking online for recipes to make Quinoa with. Quinoa is the best meal for bodybuilding. High in protein and high in Iron. Just got some from the store, but you can’t eat it like that, gotta have a recipe with it. Can use it for either breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even a before bed snack. There are plenty of Quinoa recipes online and trying to decide what looks good to me.

I’m starting to blog at night only now ’cause I like to do other things during the day. Not only working my day job, but also do fitness, guitar playing, video games, etc. Like to keep myself busy. I got some news to catch up on to post tonight.

Reports: More details on Joaquin Phoenix’s rap mockumentary film here…

This blogger at the LA Times revealed more details about Joaquin Phoenix’s rap mockumentary. It is titled, “I’m Still Here: The Lost Year Of Joaquin Phoenix”. In the film shows all the stuff you’ve been seeing in youtube, including the David Letterman appearance…but of course, there is a lot of new footage that haven’t been seen by the public yet. Stuff like Joaquin snorting cocaine, eating pussy with his female publicist, having a bad attitude with people, etc. Lots of crazy stuff. The film even has male nudity, lets hope the film doesn’t show Joaquin actually naked. There’s plenty of controversial footage throughout the movie.

Is Joaquin trying to be the next Andy Kauffman/Sacha Baron Cohen? Seems like he is, but ten times more brutal. I still stand corrected that everything Joaquin is doing, is just an act. A storyline thing ’cause all of this seems to be inspired by Andy Kauffman. It all seems pretty Andy Kauffman like. Joaquin’s new image is very much like Andy Kauffman switching to his Tony Clifton persona, that’s why it seems very similar and where Joaquin got the idea from. Same thing with Sacha Baron Cohen who retired Borat/ Ali G and now he’s Bruno.

Remember that video where Joaquin was sitting with Miley Cyrus teaching him how to vote for this thing on a computer? I remember, Joaquin was back to his normal self, clean shaven and all. So that’s more proof that all this rap stuff is kind of a prank, a comedy thing. He wasn’t acting bizzare in that video, he was being his normal self. Joaquin will be back in movies, he’s not fooling anybody.

5 Reasons to like “Friday Night Lights”…

So “Friday Night Lights” is finally back. The premiere of Season 4 aired last Friday over the weekend and I watched it very good episode. Why do I love the show so much? Well there are 5 reasons….

  1. Kyle Chandler is a great actor. Kyle Chandler who plays Coach Eric Taylor can be very entertaining ’cause he has a really short fuse and has a temper tantrum. The reason he acts this way on the show ’cause it’s his way of trying to get the players on the team more motivated in football, plus all Eric cares about is his team winning games like most sports coaches do. So he uses his temper to get players all fired up and ready for the game. This is an entertaining character and it’s one reason why I watch it. Whenever “Friday Night Lights” gets canned for good in the future, I have a feeling that Kyle Chandler will become a huge movie star in the future. He already had a few pretty big roles in Hollywood movies such as Peter Jackson’s “King Kong” remake and he had a role in, “The Day The Earth Stood Still” remake as well.
  2. Taylor Kitsch as Tim Riggins. He’s another entertaining character of the series. Taylor Kitsch is already a Hollywood actor before this show. Tim Riggins is a flaky kind of character who is an alcoholic and plays a loser type of character on the show. This is one reason that makes the show good.
  3. Minka Kelly as Lyla Garrity. Another reason to like this show is the gorgeous and sexy, Minka Kelly. Damn, she’s one fine looking chick.
  4. Good writing. The scripts of the episodes is what keeps the show going and what keeps people watching. The show has really good writing. Most shows on TV has bad writing, but “FNL”, the writing almost seems like a movie script, rather than a TV show.
  5. It feels like old school primetime drama. A show like this can make you feel like watching “The Wonder Years” or “Doogie Howser”. It almost feels like the 80’s of drama TV all over again. “FNL” is the real deal.

Glad the show is finally back.

Report: In defense of Mickey Rourke’s “most actors suck” comments…sorry, he has some valid points…

Mickey Rourke recently had an interview with Parade.com website, he said a comment that is creating some controversy online. Mickey Rourke says:

“You can be less than mediocre and be a f—ing movie star. I have respect for very few actors and actresses.”

and…

“”Some of them get a lot of acclaim but just because their movie made $200 million at the box office; they still suck. I got no respect for them and I used to let them know it. It was important for me to put that aside and go, ‘You know what? This is a business. If you kiss the right ass and you get lucky on a movie or two, you could last 10 years.’ So, now, I just keep my mouth shut and pet my chihuahuas.”

http://celebs.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978224321

Most bloggers on the internet are slamming Mickey Rourke for his controversial comments on how “most actors and actresses suck”. His opinions maybe harsh, but hey, people, it’s a free country so he has a right for an opinion.

I for one, am with Mickey Rourke, I agree with him 100%. Most actors and actresses do suck these days. There are only very few actors/actresses that I respect that bring out the good acting chops as well. A lot of today’s huge box office movies such as “Avatar”, “Iron Man” and such movies as those…they have actors/actresses in the leading roles of those type of movies which their acting skills aren’t really that great. That’s what Mickey means by his comments. For example, Sam Worthington is a horrible choice for a leading actor in “Avatar” and I think it would be a better movie if they had an actor with the talent. Robert Downey Jr. is okay, but he’s nothing special anymore. I like Robert Downey’s acting in his earlier movies when he was doing all these serious dramas, now he’s a popcorn action star.

There are very few actors and actresses that I respect too. For actors:  Daniel Day Lewis, Al Pacino and George Clooney. Those are actors with actual talent, in my opinion. For actresses I would pick: Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, and Kate Winslet. While I like Sly Stallone, I’ll admit he isn’t the best actor in the world, I just like him for the entertainment, nothing more. The same with Arnie Schwarzenegger.

Mickey wants people to look at the actor’s talent. Not worrying about how much money a movie makes. You have to admit that Mickey is so right on everything he says. The only reason the online world is mad at his opinions because they know he’s right on the money. I also think Mickey Rourke is a talented actor himself, he’s been in lots of great flicks. Of course, I think “The Wrestler” is his best movie.
