Report: Randy Blythe of Lamb of God, releases statement, thanks the fans for support and vows to fight back…

Now that Randy Blythe of Lamb of God, is out on bail and back in his hometown, he put out a statement. Talked about a few things. He thanked fans and supporters for their support while he was in jail in Prague. He also explains that the prison guards and other inmates treated Randy kindly. Plus, he vows to return to Prague so he can fight to get his name cleared. As you can see, he is maintaining his innocence.

I wish him good luck. He’s probably an innocent man, sure, but metal singers can’t be trusted.

Read the full statement, here.

Local musicians think they act like professionals, but truthfully, a lot of them don’t…

Over the last ten years or so, I have been observing how local musicians act professionally. I have been a part of local music for a long time now, so I know how a lot of them act. The thing is, a lot of those guys think they are professional acting musicians but truthfully, they are not. I know a true professional acting musician when I see one, and there aren’t many around here. There are very few around here that can be true professionals and know what they are doing. Being a professional musician is a learning experience indeed. I have learned a lot from it over the years. Over the years, I look at how I put myself out there to people in person or online. When you want to become a musician, put your music out there for the world to hear, you must put yourself out there carefully, off and on the computer. Doesn’t matter where you go, or who you talk to, your professionalism affects everything.

A lot of musicians make the mistake that you can act how you want as a musician. You can if you want to, but it’s all up to you whether or not you want your dreams and goals destroyed, or worse destroy yourself as a human being overall. Being professional is key to having a successful music career and if you want to go forward to having bigger opportunities.

I have been noticing that bands & musicians act like professionals on their official facebook pages, but when they have their own personal facebook page, they have a different personality. Acting like huge egos, going on negative rants, bad attitudes, acting like comedians, etc. All that is fine and good, but when you’re a musician, you must have a professional attitude on your personal facebook pages too. Which is why I like to treat my personal facebook page a more positive direction. I like to stay as positive as possible these days. I do it because it’s best for my music and myself as a person.

I really did learn that being a negative nancy or a troll will get you no where in music, and wish other musicians around here would learn the same thing but they never will. Oh well, let them continue to act like unprofessional douchebags, ’cause all that is doing is proving my point that’s what most musicians around here really are, douchebags. When I say this stuff, other people will of course, stick up for them, and I would get called the badguy just for calling out their unprofessional behavior. Gotta love it how people think they can get away with this stuff.

Another secret to acting like a professional, is never get into any negative drama of any kind with anybody, whatsoever. If there is a huge flame war online with other musicians, stay out of it. If you’re not getting along with other musicians, ignore them and brush it all off. If you’re getting bullied or criticized by other musicians, don’t reply to any of them, at all. I’m learning all this stuff, as much as possible.

Sorry but trash talking other musicians (including me), is pretty unprofessional behavior, no matter what you think of it. If you don’t like a musician, keep that opinion for yourself and move on. There are still other musicians I don’t like, but I try my best to keep those opinions to myself. There are too many crazy and delusional musicians everywhere.

If you have a professional attitude at all times, it’ll make music life much easier for you. I have been criticized for my professionalism all the time, and I still get criticized by people, but I don’t let that criticism bother me. What people say or think about me, is entitled to their own opinions, not factual. Having a professional attitude will get you more respect by the public, no matter who you are. I’m not the bad guy that some people try to make me out to be, it’s just that there will always be people will think of you that way, no matter what. It’s all bullshit, I know, but if you want a good music career, you have to be strong and tough to get through all the bullshit. Sometimes it’s worth it going through all the drama and negativity in music.

Musicians and other people in the music scene think they’re hot shit, they’ll want to think they are a better person than you, and if music is what you like to do, then you only concentrate on that alone and not worrying about what other people think. Period.

Cool Video: Listen to Sharon Van Etten’s “Love More” here…

Man, I’m fuckin’ blown away by this song, “Love More” by Sharon Van Etten. So incredibly powerful! This song gives me goosebumps all the way through. Such a beautiful song. A lot of sadness in it too. This is HOW you should write songs. Write songs with heart, that will melt peoples faces, well this song did it to me. I want to get her albums asap. I will soon. Can’t stop listening to her music. She’s definitely one of the best new artists in the, independent market.

Edit to add: Just posted another video where she’s doing the same song, acepella. Shows she can really sing.

RIP: Marilyn Monroe 1926 – 1962

This post is not going to be about her death or her personal problems, it’s going to be a positive thing. About celebrating her great career. When I visited Los Angeles last year in Hollywood, it inspired me to get into Marilyn Monroe movies more. I started watching her films this year, and pretty much watched most of her films in her filmography. I even saw all the ones where she had small cameos in. What are my top 5 Marilyn flicks, out of all the ones I’ve watched?

In no particular order: “Some Like It Hot”, “Gentlemen Prefers Blondes”, “Niagra”, “The Seven Year Itch”, and “Bus Stop”.

There’s still a few more I need to see like “Prince and the Showgirl” and “Don’t Bother to Knock” (which both of these are listed on my DVD rental que for Netflix). I still need to see “The Misfits”, too and that DVD is hard to find.

This woman is so inspiring that she makes me wish I was around the time she was alive. Her career was pretty important in the movie industry. She didn’t become a legend for nothing. No matter how long ago she was around, she’ll inspire people forever.

Brock’s been falling in love with a new music artist… Sharon Van Etten…

I don’t have any of her albums yet, but I plan on buying her 3 albums from Itunes soon. She’s an independent artist named, Sharon Van Etten, who is a New York City native. I came across her music by accident and fell in love with her tunes. Her music really blows my mind and gives me goosebumps. Beautiful songwriter. She actually has 5 albums, but her first two albums, I believe, she released herself without a label, then she got signed, independently. Her and the band just played Lolapalooza yesterday afternoon and I caught some of her set live youtube stream. She’s an intense performer too. She’s confident and plays with heart. She’s getting popularity pretty quick, and I hope she stays right in the indie market. An excellent artist like her doesn’t need to be signed under a major label. I’m not into today’s singer/songwriter stuff that much, but Sharon’s music is very good. She’s a phenomenal songwriter and I would like to get my chance to see her live. Check her out yourself in the videos below.

She’s got mostly male fans, which is cool. Something about her music that draws men toward her. I’m gonna get her music for my Ipod soon.

Cool Video: Dolph Lundgren finally responds his thoughts on the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” re-boot…

While promoting the new “Expendables 2” movie with IGN, they asked Dolph Lundgren his thoughts on the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” re-boot, on whether or not, Dolph approves of it. Well, it seems that Dolph is all for it ’cause he just said it’s a good idea. Will Dolph be willing to make some kind of appearance in the film? He said he would, but he would not play the He-Man character again because of his age. Keep in mind, Dolph was young when he first played the He-Man role. I would think he was around the early 30’s back then. Dolph said he would rather play the King (in which he is referring to the character, King Hiss, or maybe King Randor).

The original “Masters of the Universe” film with Dolph didn’t do well in the box office and got mixed opinions. The film still gets mixed opinions to this day, but I love the film very much. It’s a shame we didn’t get a sequel with Dolph like originally planned. I thought “Masters of the Universe” was a fun movie and a great action film.

For the new film, I think the entire film should be taken place on the home planet of Eternia, instead of on Earth in our present time. The new “Masters of the Universe” will probably be action packed and will probably be a big CGI fest, will probably be in 3D but, I’m hoping they’ll stay faithful to the action figures and cartoon series. I think a reboot is a good idea too. He-Man deserves a proper film since the last one failed. It deserves another try.

Who’s going to play the new He-Man? I can think of two different actors for that character and it would be appropriate if they use a younger actor who is big and muscular. The two best candidates for the new He-Man would be either Chris Hemsworth (Thor) or Jason Momoa (Conan, Game of Thrones). They need to cast someone for Teela, Man at Arms, Skeletor, and Evil Lynn. I also hope they make a better Beast Man too.

Lets hope they don’t bring back the Gwildor character from the original film ’cause I hated that character, he was the only thing I didn’t like about the original, “Masters of the Universe”.

Olympics part 3…

A commenter wanted a few examples where a UsA athlete would show respect to their opponents who are from other countries? Well Missy Franklin and Michael Phelps both did just that after their big wins tonight. This is exactly what I’m talking about. Athletes show respect to other countries, all the time. The Fab 5 girls should have done that to Russia, that’s what’s I’M TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE!

How to play fast guitar…

I do want to become a fast guitar player but I’m taking my slow time, not rushing myself. I can play moderately quick, but I’m not yet a speed demon like Yngwie Malmsteen or Michael Angelo Batio, but I certainly would love to get there someday. You don’t want to rush playing fast guitar, and a lot of guitar players make the mistake of trying to play fast right away. I was guilty of that.

Steve Vai said through plenty of guitar magazines that the secret to playing fast, is starting off real slow. Play every note perfectly and cleanly, then build up speed a little. Always playing with a metronome. That sounded like a good idea, so I’ve been doing that a lot recently. Start off slow on the metronome, and go up a little bit each time. I don’t think I’ll ever be a speed demon, but I do want to play a little faster.

Because if I want to play kick ass rock n’ roll with a hard edge, that requires technical skill and a good ear. I’m trying to get good at both. I don’t want to be stuck playing power chords and easy chords, all the time. I want to expand my talent a little bit. Get into the more advanced level of guitar playing. To create bad ass rock n’ roll riffs, that requires theory and scale knowledge. I’ve been studying a lot of theory stuff too and that is also helpful.

I’m not rushing to be a guitar genius but that is my dream to get there and doing all I can.

More on the Olympics… Fab 5 vs. Russia…

To make things more clear and to explain it better… now I’m not exactly saying that the Fab 5 should go over to their opponents to hug/shake hands or whatever right after a game is over with. What I really mean is that they really need to show that they care. Most athletes in the Olympics do care about their opponents from other countries. Most US athletes are passionate and respectful of other countries. I’ve seen it. I’m sure everyone else had too. They don’t exactly go over to shake hands or hug but they do show ways of caring. When the medals are given, hands are usually shaken as a way to show them respect at the end.

There was something about the Fab 5 that didn’t seem right. Russia was full of emotion and guilt. Crying in tears, and most of the Russian girls were very young, they look like they were 14 or 15. The Fab 5 girls maybe a little older. The Fab 5 girls didn’t even look at the Russian girls. There wasn’t a sign of respect from the US team at all toward Russia, instead they were all over themselves as if they were in a god damn slumber party, while Russia cried their eyes out. Know what I mean? They don’t necessarily have to shake hands or hug, but at least be compassionate for the losing team. Give them a nod of respect or apologize or something. Just something to make them feel better, but the girls in the Fab 5 didn’t do shit. They just let them suffer. Cruel. Just cruel.

There’s too much hate and bullying everywhere, and it even happens in the Olympics sometimes. I like the what the girls in the Fab 5 did, they were incredible young athletes, can’t deny that. They were just too excited for their gold medal win earlier this week, that they didn’t care about anything else around them. It was their ego. That’s what it is.

At least Michael Phelps shows sympathy to the people he races with, he has class.

Report: Javier Bardem steps out of “The Dark Tower”, Russell Crowe to replace?

Deadline reports that actor Javier Bardem, has stepped out of Ron Howard’s “The Dark Tower” series, with reasons unknown. Bardem has been slated to play as Roland Deschain of Gilead for a while now but looks like he changed his mind. Scheduling conflicts got in the way? He didn’t care for the script? Either way it’s disappointing that he’s stepping down ’cause I think he was perfect for, Roland. I’m kind of skeptical on Russell Crowe though.

If anything, I’ve been saying for years in this blog that Hugh Jackman would make the perfect Roland, so he’s my pick if Russell isn’t down.

The Dark Tower is a pretty risky and challenging project, so I hope Ron does it right and stays faithful to the books.
