BREAKING NEWS: Gavin Degraw attacked in streets of NYC…

Singer/songwriter Gavin Degraw was rushed to a hospital after he was brutally beaten in the streets of NYC late on a Sunday night. Gavin lives in NYC and he’s currently on tour with Maroon 5 with his next show scheduled to be at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. this coming Tuesday. Nobody knows how badly he was beaten or why they attacked him.

TMZ, reports.

No matter what you all think of the guy or his music, he’s still a human being. He’s an innocent man who didn’t deserve this. My bet that he was mugged. Maybe the attackers were trying to take his money or whatever valuables he has on him.

Never walk the streets of major cities alone, folks. Especially late at night where there’s a good chance, you’re gonna get mugged.

It’s sad what’s happening with celebrities lately. A lot of celebrities are getting beatings, they even get stalkers by obsessed fans, etc. I’ve been saying for a long time now in this blog, that fame is a dangerous world. It’s true if you think about it.

Cool Video: Bane blows up Heinz Field, the home of the Pittsburgh, Steelers, on the set of “The Dark Knight: Rises”…

Controversial behind the scenes footage of “The Dark Knight: Rises” leaks to youtube. As some of you know, the legendary NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers make their cameo for the movie. Here is their scene in the video below. Tom Hardy as Bane warns everyone that he will take control of Gotham and later he blows up Heinz Field, as the extras in the crowd cheer on.

The explosion in the video is obviously fake but the editing department will add the real explosion in with CGI and stuff when the final take of the scene is done.

Check out the interesting videos below. So far, “The Dark Knight: Rises” looks to be a thrilling movie. Hope it’s just as good as the second movie.

Am I the one who is the Legend and the greatest of all time???

I’ve been thinking about this long and hard. Is the reason so many people talk about me in youtube is maybe because they don’t want to admit that I am the superstar around here, and not them??? I think they are mad because they know that I’m the internet sensation locally and not them. Could that be the reason why they all come after me? They are hoping to get more publicity off of me ’cause they know I get a lot of views on this blog. Maybe they are mad ’cause they know I’m more entertaining and more talented than them. I think they are just jealous of my fitness and music, plus I am more recognizable online with my web presence.

I mean, even if people don’t like me too much, some people can’t help themselves but talk about me constantly. They still continue to read my blogs and watch my youtube videos.

So maybe I’m the one who is the legend and the greatest of them all. I am an egomaniac and better than everybody.

(NOTE: this whole post is just me joking around and having fun…)

It’s official: I will buy movies on Blu Ray from this point on…

After I complete the “Superman: Motion Picture Anthology” Blu Ray set this weekend which I am almost finished with it, I think from this point on, I will buy my movies on Blu Ray. Why? Because DVD is quickly losing it’s popularity. Every time I browse around movies at the stores, I am noticing the Blu Ray section is getting much bigger than the DVD section. Blu Ray is a pretty hot thing right now. When I’m at Best Buy, I like to browse around the Blu Ray section. Not buy anything but browse around and there’s a lot of stuff I’d like to get. I’ll get 1 or 2 Blu Ray movies at a time because they are pretty pricey. I’ll replace all of my favorite movies that I have on DVD to Blu Ray instead. I am liking Blu Ray more ’cause the picture and sound is definitely better than DVD. There is a big difference. Watching movies on Blu Ray is also better than watching movies in the theater.

Blu Ray is really cool.

Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle looks like Julie Newmar’s version of Catwoman…

So Warner Bros. showed us what Bane looks like for the “Dark Knight: Rises”, here is what Anne Hathaway looks like as Selina Kyle. Selina in the first pic is not quite in the Catwoman costume yet. She’s wearing the black leather suit, but no cat ears yet. Look like we’ll see Selina Kyle throughout most of “Dark Knight: Rises” and Catwoman won’t show until the end of the film. This isn’t the Catwoman suit yet, and I’m sure Warner Bros. will show us what Catwoman will look like soon. So far Anne Hathaway looks very much like Julie Newmar from the classic TV series. Look like Selina stole the bat-pod.

Warner Bros. is hard at work with both Batman and Superman, they are on a roll.

Thought: What I hope to see in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” film…

Looking at that picture again, that’s an angry Superman who’s about ready to kick your ass. The photo says it all, folks. I think the next Superman movie will be an action packed movie and that’s what I’m hoping for.

Notice the S shield Symbol. It’s the classic logo from the 1930’s in the “Action Comics” years back? Noticing the new Superman suit is kind of old fashioned, I’m thinking the movie will be taken place in the 1930’s like the old comics.

I just hope Superman won’t show up until the very end of the film. We want Superman to show up right away in the film. In Richard Donner’s “Superman: The Movie” it took forever for Superman to finally show up toward the middle. I hope that won’t happen with this movie.

I’m sure Warner Bros. will release pics of Michael Shannon as General Zod soon, and that’s what I can’t wait to see! Hopefully Michael Shannon’s version of Zod will be different than Terence Stamp’s look.

Film Review: Cowboys & Aliens

Starring: Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell

Directed by: Jon Favreau

Today, I decided to go to the mall for something to do and get out of the house for a while. There were two great movies out that I wanted to see. I had a choice between “Cowboys & Aliens” or “Captain America: The First Avenger”. I ended up seeing “Cowboys & Aliens” first. As for shopping, I didn’t buy much. All I picked up was Jaycee Dugard’s book “The Stolen Life”, but I’m not going to read it yet because there are other books I need to catch up on.

On with my review…

Plot/synopsis: The Old West.. where a lone cowboy leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world. 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been…

It’s another winner for Jon Favreau. It felt like Indiana Jones and James Bond 007 teaming up together except it’s taken place in the Wild West. Yes, the plot to the movie sounds goofy and whacky but most people don’t know that this movie was adapted from the graphic novel created by, Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. The story mixes western and sci-fi together.

For the Western part of the story, it has everything there is in the cowboy genre. The beginning of the film starts off as a serious Western film, then toward the middle it gets to the sci fi parts, when the aliens come invading their town. Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig’s character) is a mean and tough character that you don’t want to mess with, but there’s a serious and emotional part about him too. He wakes up in the middle of Wild West and finds this strange looking bracelet on his wrist that looks like some type of machine. He’s trying to remember how he got there and where the strange bracelet came from.

Then we get the hilarious Harrison Ford who plays Col. Dolarhyde who is also pretty mean and tough. With his character you get a little bit of Han Solo and Indiana Jones both at the same time. When the characters are speaking their dialogues in the film, Col. Dolarhyde would come back with some smart ass jokes that are pretty funny. Plus, Harrison Ford is such a perfect actor to play Dolarhyde because Harrison looks exactly like him in the graphic novel. Harrison did a great job nailing the character down.

There are so many alien invasion movies over the years but most of them are the same thing. Just aliens invading the city and then they have the US Army fight them off. Not with this movie. This time it’s cowboys vs. aliens. Which is what I like. Something different for once.

The action scenes were very fun and entertaining. It was a pretty action packed movie all the way through. I thought the script was pretty well written for a popcorn action movie. This is definitely one of the better popcorn action flicks I’ve seen in a while. Check it out!

Score for “Cowboys & Aliens” = *** (3 stars as in “excellent”)

Cool Photo: First look at Henry Cavill in the Superman costume leaked to the web!

Well finally, we get Henry Cavill wearing the Superman costume on set of Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here you go folks, first look at Henry Cavill as Superman, see him, here.

Awesome, just awesome. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Definitely different from Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh. The hair is a little longer but that’s okay, still looks great. I’m now officially sold to this movie and psyched to see it! Why do we have to wait ’til 2013 to see it!

I hope they do a good job with the film and won’t disappoint. Enjoy all!

How to make this area a better music scene? I have some ideas!!!

So a lot of us like to talk about how terrible the Albany Capital District music scene is. How can we make it better even though I know you all won’t follow it? I have some ideas here. I’ll list ’em. Feel free to add some suggestions in the comments below.

Ways to make the music scene better…

  • More venues to play – Seriously, bands & acoustic acts don’t have to be stuck playing crap hole bar rooms all the time. If you have a business degree, I’d like to see some people open up more venues with a stage for local bands.
  • Make the booking less difficult – I think it’s idiotic and stupid that a lot of venues want you to play one of their open mics first before booking you. That’s how a lot of venues seem to be booking here lately. The better way venues should book bands is, if they like your music, they should book you, no matter if you have a big following or not. This is just local music, all acts deserve a chance to gig.
  • Leave your egos & bad attitudes out the door – I don’t want any of this, “Lets make fun of this guy because he’s funny looking”, “Your music is crap and you need to quit playing”, etc. You get the deal. No bashing other musicians & bands and no acting like you’re better than others. A positive attitude would make a good music scene. Just shut up and play the music, simple?
  • Act like a total professional – Being polite, courteous and respectful to everyone at all times but nope, we don’t get any of that. I sometimes see facebook drama with other musicians and in craigslist, it’s pathetic really.
  • Concentrate on the music only – There are too many so called musicians around here that concentrate on other people and other things when they should be worrying about their music alone.
  • Respect all talent and their music, even if you don’t like it – Keep your negative opinions to yourself. I actually respect all music and what you play. If you want this to be a good music scene, you must respect all musicians. There are too many people who are critical of other talent and I just wish people would shut up and let us do our thing.
  • Promote yourself more and get people out to your shows – I love how bands complain and whine they only play in front of a few people at a gig. Wanna know why that is? It’s probably because they aren’t promoting themselves hard enough. Bands don’t do any promoting around here. Maybe facebook but that’s about it, you must do more than that. Having more people at your gigs would make a great music scene.
  • Just enjoy and have fun!!! – If you’re not having fun, then why bother doing this?

That’s it, enjoy.

RIP: Bubba Smith 1945 – 2011

Bubba Smith, who is the former NFL star and actor most famous for his role as Hightower in the “Police Academy” comedy series has passed away. He played for the NFL from 1967 – 76, then he retired to become a full time actor. Bubba was found dead in his home in Los Angeles, he was 66 years old.

Damn, a sad loss in the movie industry. I love all the Police Academy movies and Hightower has always been my favorite character. Sad.
