The Brock’s Top 15 Most Anticipated Movies for 2013

Be careful now. This is NOT the “Best of 2012”, this is a totally different list, I do at the end of every year as well. While you’re waiting for the Best Movies/Music of the year lists to come up ahead, I guess, I can go ahead and do this one. This list here, is the top 10 most anticipated movies, I look forward to seeing next year.

Enjoy the list all…

  • Man of Steel – Been looking forward to this for a long time now. Hope Zack Snyder redeems himself. Please, let this be a good movie!
  • Evil Dead – I’m actually looking forward to this remake. I usually don’t look forward to seeing remakes but I can’t wait to see this one.
  • Star Trek Into Darkness – I hope JJ doesn’t disappoint with this one as well. So far, the trailers look good though.
  • Gangster Squad – This movie looks awesome! It’s a movie about the mafia taken place during the 1940’s – 50’s. Has an all star cast: Josh Brolin, Ryan Goslin, Sean Penn, etc.
  • The Last Stand – The next film with Arnold starring in his first leading role since being back in film from politics. Can’t wait for this one!
  • Bullet to the Head – The next Sylvester Stallone action movie, directed by Walter Hill. Can’t wait for this one as well!
  • A Good Day To Die Hard – Are we getting an action movie revival? Arnold, Sly, and now Bruce Willis has their own movies coming out next year. The last few Die Hard films has been shit, hopefully, they redeem themselves with this one too. Please make this movie good!
  • Carrie – Another remake I look forward to, starring Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore. I hope this version stays more faithful to the book, this time around.
  • The Wolverine – Hugh Jackman returns as the Wolverine, directed by James Mangold.
  • The Tomb – Yep, Sly Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger has two different movies coming out in 2013, and this time, they star together in this one.
  • Paranormal Activity 5 – Will this be the conclusion of the P.A. series? I’m looking forward to where the Katie Featherston story is going to continue after 4.
  • Ender’s Game: The sci-fi adapted from the famous novel by Orson Scott Card. Can’t wait for this. Hope the film is good and faithful to the book.
  • The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – I haven’t read the second book yet, but will in time before this film. I loved the first novel and the first movie. I’ll be looking forward to this one.
  • The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – The 2nd film of the Hobbit trilogy by Peter Jackson. Haven’t seen the first one yet, of course, but will in a few weeks, when I do my Christmas shopping. I’m sure the first Hobbit film will be amazing.
  • G.I. Joe: Retaliation: The 2nd G.I. Joe movie, which will star The Rock, Bruce Willis, and an all star cast. The second film of the GI Joe franchise. Loved the first movie, will see the second one. I’m sure the second will be an even better film.

I’m sure there’s going to be even more good films coming out in 2013, but these one above, I look forward to the most.

Report: Dan Aykroyd on Ghostbusters 3, “We’re moving on, with or without Bill”…

Dan Aykroyd has said, he has had it. He seems a little fed up with Bill Murray refusing to respond on whether or not, he wants in on, Ghostbusters 3. For years now, Bill has been very critical about the film. He refuses to read the script and refuses to respond, on whether or not, he wants in to reprise his role as, Dr. Peter Venkman. Dan and the crew, has waited for Bill to respond. It’s been two years already, and Bill is still silent to this day. Well, they’ve given up on Bill, and they’re moving on with or without him.

They didn’t give up on Bill for good, however. If Bill suddenly changes his mind someday, and wants back in, they’ll always welcome him back.

Read what Dan has to say about it, here.

Bill hasn’t retired from acting. He’s still acting,  he just haven’t starred in any blockbuster films lately. It seems that he’s slowing down a bit. He’s aging, that’s probably what it is. I can understand Dan and the crew, moving on, but I can’t see a Ghostbusters movie, without Venkman. The film won’t feel right without that character. The Venkman character is what made the first two movies work to begin with.

I loved the first “Ghostbusters” film, didn’t care for the second one. Even if the second one wasn’t good, Venkman was still entertaining as hell like always. I hope Bill changes his mind. Would be cool if he’s in it. A cameo would be better than nothing, at least.

Cool Video: “Star Trek Into Darkness” trailer is finally here! Looks great but…

… to be honest, I really miss the style of Star Trek movies from the original series and The Next Generation movies. I like Star Trek movies with great storytelling that are insightful, and the ones that don’t rely on action, and big special effects. “Star Trek Into Darkness”, honestly, looks like a complete rehash of the first one. The special effects and action looks impressive, but I don’t want to see Star Trek like that. The reason the original Trek movies and the TNG movies worked, ’cause they completely relied on science fiction. JJ Abrams take on Star Trek are more like Star Wars films to me.

I still wish the TNG cast would reunite and make one final TNG movie, but looks like that’s not going to happen any time soon. It would be nice to see if the Voyager cast would get their own movie ’cause Captain Janeway, just kicks ass as a captain. “Voyager” was a great series, and plan on re-watching it on Netflix at some point.

I’ll still see “Star Trek: Into Darkness” in theater, sure. It does look pretty good.

Cool Photo: Your first official look at Harrison Ford in “Ender’s Game”!!!

first-offical-still

That’s Harrison Ford as Col. Graff from the upcoming sci-fi film, “Ender’s Game”, adapted from the famous novel written by, Orson Scott Card. It’s a very good book and definitely a classic! I hope this movie is good.

I’ll be honest though, but man, Harrison is not getting any younger. If he’s serious on playing Han Solo again, Disney better get to work on that new Star Wars movie fast. They are moving as fast as possible I see! I would like to see Harrison play Han Solo for one last time. Would be cool!

Report: Netflix will finally get Disney for a three year deal in 2016!!!

This is good for Netflix! In 2016, Netflix streaming services will finally get Disney films for a three year deal. That includes streaming everything Disney… from classic films to new films, live action and animated. It also includes all the Marvel superhero flicks and the Pixar films. Lucasfilm too, probably? I would think. It’ll be cool if Netflix will stream all the Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies.

Other movie studios and TV stations have avoided Netflix for years, and looks like Disney has their back. Nice to see! More kids will be watching Netflix, and they deserve this.

Netflix is the coolest thing on this planet. It’s better than cable TV!!! Whenever there’s nothing on TV, I’ll watch a TV show on Netflix or a movie. I know Netflix gets a lot of criticism ’cause of their price raise, but I’ll always stay loyal to Netflix. It’s a good service, even though I wish they would improve the sound quality.

More on the story, here.

“Star Trek Into Darkness” teaser poster released…

705963_10151164885843716_970285203_o

To those who don’t know who that is, that is actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the main villain for the new Star Trek movie, “Star Trek: Into Darkness”, directed by JJ Abrams. A lot of speculation on which villain it is. Everyone’s saying it’s either Khan or Gary Mitchell.

I’m sure everyone knows who Khan is, but who is Gary Mitchell? Gary Mitchell is a villain from the original Star Trek series, and he would be seen in the episode, “Memory Alpha”. Gary Mitchell worked for Starfleet on the Enterprise with, Kirk and the gang. More info, on Gary Mitchell, here. I’m sure, some of you remember that episode now.

Or it could be a totally different villain. We’ll have to wait and see the film. Another film I look forward to next year. A lot of you know, I’m a pretty big Trekkie!

New “Man of Steel” image released from Warner Bros. today!!!

This is an official still from the upcoming new Superman movie, “Man of Steel”, directed by Zack Snyder. Some of you may ask. Why are his hands cuffed in chains and what is he being turned in for? Well my belief, is that since “Man of Steel” is taking a realistic approach to Superman, if there was a real life superhero who tried to fight crime himself, he would either be arrested or killed. That’s what I see going on here, in this poster. Superman could probably break out of the chains and escape easily, but he doesn’t in this image ’cause he is respecting the law.

Or I could be totally wrong and it could be a different reason in the actual film itself. I’ll have to wait and see.

I was honestly hoping that Warner Bros. was going to release an official photo of Michael Shannon as General Zod, but they haven’t shown us yet. I’m sure they will show us the new General Zod, in the next trailer, that will be shown before, “The Hobbit”. I can’t wait for “Man of Steel”, it’s one movie I most look forward to in 2013. I hope it doesn’t disappoint at all, and hope Snyder redeems himself this time.

Dustin Hoffman… his ten BEST roles in his career…

Dustin Hoffman, another Kennedy Center honoree, is another star that is deserving of this. In celebration of his Kennedy Center honoree, I thought I would name my top ten favorite Dustin Hoffman, films. Films that I thought were his best performances.

  1. The Graduate
  2. Straw Dogs
  3. Kramer vs. Kramer
  4. Tootsie
  5. Rain Man
  6. Dick Tracy (he wasn’t the leading star in this film, but his character, Mumbles, was the shit)
  7. Sphere
  8. Wag the Dog
  9. Moonlight Mile
  10. Runaway Jury

Congrats to him too. He too is well deserving of this honor.

EDIT TO ADD: Damn, I forgot, “Marathon Man”, that is also another classic, and a great film!

Hugh Jackman just won’t give up the Wolverine character…

Even if Hugh Jackman still has James Mangold’s, “The Wolverine“, coming out in 2013, which I plan to see, he’s not yet, done with the character. Jackman is currently in negotiations, to return as the Wolverine once again in Singer’s, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” the sequel to “X-Men: First Class”. Jackman has played the Wolverine character too much. From the original X-Men trilogy to the “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” film.

How much longer is Jackman planning to keep playing this character? The man is 44 years old now, and I can see him stopping somewhere at 55 – 60. He is talented and I can’t see no one else playing the Wolverine but, Jackman.

The Wolverine has always been my favorite Marvel character. He must love this character too much and you can tell. Will Jackman’s appearance in “Days of Future Past” will be a big one? I don’t think so, sounds like it maybe a cameo appearance to me but we’ll wait and see. “Days of Future Past” is getting even more interesting. I thought “X-Men: First Class” was great, hopefully this film will be even better, now that Singer is back at the helm.

Kev

Edit to add: I forgot, Hugh Jackman did have a cameo in “X-Men: First Class” too, but he wasn’t quite the Wolverine yet…

Superman to wear red armor in the upcoming “Man of Steel” movie???

While Zack Snyder continues to be secretive on the upcoming “Man of Steel” movie, Mattel kept releasing pics of action figures from the movie, giving you a little glimpse of the film. AICN showed a few pics of Superman from “Man of Steel”. One pic with his blue costume, and the other with Superman wearing red armor, check it out, here.

Wonder what’s with the red armor, and that thing on his right arm? Look like he might have to fight something big & dangerous that might be more stronger than him. Metallo, perhaps?

“Man of Steel” comes out in Summer of 2013, and I wish we don’t have to wait that long. Anyway, we’ll be seeing another “Man of Steel” trailer with more footage and new music, that will be shown in front of, “The Hobbit”, movie. That’s one reason why I’m going to see “The Hobbit”, to see the new “Man of Steel” trailer. Of course, I’m looking forward to “The Hobbit” film itself, ’cause I’m a bit Tolkien fan as well.

Kev

Edit to add: Maybe that red is not armor at all, it might have something to do with that thing on his arm that makes him red. Helps makes him even stronger maybe?
