Thought: In defense of Stallone’s “John Gotti” biopic…

This movie that Sly and Junior Gotti is planning is getting a lot of negative critique by reader comments in other film blogs. No surprise to me, ’cause Sly Stallone always gets mixed opinions with his movies. I’m going to take some time to defend this movie.

You see, I know Sylvester Stallone has acting talent. It’s very rare that he brings out his acting talent. The only two films that he showed his true acting talent were the first “Rocky” and the movie “Cop Land”, which were his two best performances. He just does action films for entertainment instead of showing his acting talent if you know what I mean by that. With this “Dapper Don” film he has planned, I really think this will be Sly’s third chance to bring out his acting talent again. If Sly does a good job with this movie, he could possibly land himself in the Oscars again (the first Rocky won best picture). Maybe even get nominated for Best Actor, Best Director or Best writer, who knows. I just want Sly to pick the right movie where he can show his true acting talent again. I think the John Gotti movie is the right choice. Also, I don’t think this John Gotti movie is going to be an action film. Looks like it’s going to be a mob drama. Kind of like the Godfather, the Departed, Scarface, etc.

I’m a really huge fan of mobster flicks. I FUCKING LOVE THEM! I’m glad Sly is finally doing one. You ask, why does it have to be John Gotti when it should be Al Capone instead? Do we really need another Al Capone movie? There are hundreds of Al Capone movies out there and I don’t think we need another one. On top of that, Sly already starred in an Al Capone movie, called, “Capone” made back in 1975.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capone_(film)

Honestly, John Gotti hasn’t had a biopic film yet, and I think he deserves one. I think his story needs to be told and Sylvester Stallone deserves to be in charge ’cause both men are very similar in a haunting way.

Sly is no stranger to mobster flicks, yes, he’s done them before. Remember, the movie “Shade”? Where he plays the Dean? That’s a mobster movie.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shade_(film)

The John Gotti biopic also looks like it’s going to be a sad movie as well. Gotti died in prison with cancer, so think how Sly can play an emotional death scene playing the character. John Gotti Sr. was a mob boss that actually had a pretty large fan following. Again, it’s kind of similar to Sly. The Gotti biopic will be a pretty large casting, ’cause they need to find actors for the Gambino family. They need to find someone for Junior Gotti too.

Also, they would need someone to play Paul Castellano ’cause he was a big part of the Gambino family…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Castellano

Yeah, I can see the “Gotti” biopic, being a serious drama if you know “The Dapper Don” history well. It could be a very intense movie. Sly has done action flicks for most of his career. I think he wants to do something a little different and something more serious this time. Yes, Gotti maybe a crazy psychotic madman, but if you knew how he committed his crimes, he only killed people that deserved to die. He never killed the innocent. That is why he was considered a hero and why he grew a “fan” following back in those days.

I support Sly 100% toward this project and I can’t wait for Sly to reveal more stuff about this movie in the future. Give Sly a chance with this one, ’cause I truly think he’ll show his acting, directing and writing talent with this movie all the way.

Report: About Stallone making a movie about John Gotti, it’s true!!!

TMZ posted a video of Sly going to dinner with John Gotti Jr., the son of the famous, “The Dapper Don”. Gotti Jr. confirms the movie IS in the works and the script is being written too. When Sly finally arrived at the restaurant, Sly was pretty much tight lipped and kept his mouth shut everytime questions were asked about the movie. Except Sly did confirm at the end of the video, he is planning to play John Gotti Sr., and has been wanting to do this for years.

See the video here:

The question is, how much will Sly play John Gotti in the film? Will it be throughout the entire movie or just a small role?

It seems that Sly is no fan of TMZ, it seemed he was in no mood to talk to them. Gotti Jr. seems like a real friendly guy though.

I’m pretty sure Sly will speak to the movie industry about this movie very soon since TMZ was the first to leak the news. I’m looking forward to hearing more!

“The Book of Eli” movie got me thinking about something…

So I finally saw the movie, “The Book of Eli”, that was directed by the Hughes Brothers. It stars Denzel Washington as the leading hero and Gary Oldman as the film’s main villain. It tells a story of Eli, being the survivors of the Nuclear war that destroyed the United States. Survivors of the United States have nothing left on them. Eli’s only mission is to travel the West for whatever reason that was never revealed. Eli has weapons and fighting skill for survival, as to fight off enemies that gets in his way. Denzel plays a bit of a badass action hero dude but, his character Eli is on a serious note. Eli is a very religious man which keeps him going. Carnegie (Gary Oldman’s) character is obessed with a book that Eli has, so Carnegie and his gang goes after Eli for the book. The book is supposed to have some religious power that Carnegie wants, but that’s not what the book is used for. The book is really all about Eli.

While it was a very good movie, there is something about the film that is so haunting.

Since the United States in that film was destroyed by Nuclear war, think how something like that can happen in real life? What if some other country came over and decided to bomb us with nuclear weapons after all? I think other countries like Iran for starters did threaten us with Nuclear weapons many times. I know the “Book of Eli” is a fiction movie but if people don’t believe something like that can happen in real life, you need to look at how angry and pissed off other countries are at us. Bin Laden and Al Qaeda could do something like that to us, anytime. Bin Laden taken down the twin towers in NYC is evidence that they are about to take down the United States one day. A nuclear attack can happen. You just never know when.

That is one frightening thing about that movie, “The Book of Eli”, I watch the film and thinking to myself, “Oh man, that could be us someday”. Maybe that was the message that the Hughes Brothers were sending through the movie. It’s not just an action film. It’s obviously political too.

Do yourself a favor and check this movie out. I thought it was great. No complaints about it.

Cool Video: More on John Gotti, see how Sly would be perfect for him…

If you watch these videos, John Gotti speaking in prison with visitors…notice how John’s speaking voice is very close to Sly’s. Speaking really fast, kind of mumbling a little bit, etc. Gotti has a Rocky like speaking voice. Plus, Gotti looks similar to Sly too. I can see how Sly wants to bring this project to the big screen now. Check ’em out below. If you think about it, Sly would bring out the great acting chops again just like he did with the first Rocky.

Report: Sylvester Stallone’s next project after “The Expendables”??? Sly will make a biopic about John Gotti???

TMZ reported that Sylvester Stallone is in talks with, “Junior” John Gotti, who is the son of the famous mobster boss, John Gotti Sr. to make a biopic film about John Gotti Sr. Will this be Stallone’s next movie after, “The Expendables”?

More on it here:

and here:

As usual, TMZ are dumbasses. TMZ said, “As for Sly playing Gotti — good casting, we might add — we’re told the project is far enough along that he’s ready to pick a screenwriter.”

Hello MORONS! Sly Stallone is a screenwriter himself! So Sly will probably write the movie, direct it and star in it all at the same time. Sly has written scripts for most of his movies that he starred in his career. TMZ never gets their facts straight before posting things.

If this is really Sly’s next movie, this is a very interesting one.

To those who don’t know John Gotti’s history look at his wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Gotti

Gotti was a vicious animal. Look like Sly wants this to be a serious mob drama. Kind of in the likes of Scorsese’s “The Departed” and other mobster films. John Gotti died in prison at the age of 61, around Sly’s age, so yeah, this is a perfect role for Sly. Can you see the film doing an emotional scene of the death of Frank Gotti?

Seriously, if Sly does good with this movie, it might land himself in the Oscars again.

Who should star in the movie with Sly? Will this movie be full of big name stars or a bunch of unknown actors for the Gambino family gang? Not sure about Sly’s plans yet for this movie. If he does star with a bunch of big names again, maybe try and get Kurt Russell. George Clooney and Al Pacino would be good additions too. Maybe Johnny Depp as well.

Anyhow glad Sly is finally doing something different other than another Rambo movie! Kudos!

Report: Daniel Radcliffe finally gets bored of “Harry Potter” to star in the “Western Front” remake…

Daniel Radcliffe has worked on Harry Potter for so long that he finally wants to work on other things. Radcliffe is set to play a role in the upcoming, “All Quiet on the Western Front” remake, which the original was made in 1930.

More on it here:

It’s about time! I think Daniel is capable of doing other things besides Harry Potter. He will be a successful actor doing other things. I’m no Harry Potter fan at all, but I think Daniel will have a good career ahead of him since Harry Potter made him famous.

Not a Cool Video: Neil Patrick Harris brings us “The Smurfs” trailer and looks like a piece of crap…

“The Smurfs” teaser trailer finally hit online, with an introduction by Neil Patrick Harris, who does the voice of the leading, Smurf. When I was a little kid, I was a huge fan of the cartoon series. Watched them pretty obsessively. They really messed it up, the live action, “Smurfs”. Seriously, does it have to be in fucking NYC? Why can’t it stay true to the Hanna-Barbera TV series and the comics? I will still see, “The Smurfs” not in theater though, another wait for DVD rental thing. I smell a failure on this movie, yep, box office flop. If you think your kids would want to see this garbage, I would think your kids would want to see another, “Alvin & The Chipmunks” sequel, than this piece of shit.

Cool Video: Chronicles of Narnia “Voyage of Dawn Treader” trailer hits the internets!

“The Voyage of Dawn Treader” trailer is finally online. The movie looks awesome. As some of you may or may not know, I am a huge fan of the “Chronicles of Narnia” series. Love the books and the movies. Yes, the first two Disney movies of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and “Prince Caspian” were both pretty incredible flicks. I’m looking forward to this one “Dawn Treader” and I’ll be there in the theaters for this movie as well. Notice the difference since Disney doesn’t own the “Narnia” series anymore and it’s now owned by 20th Century Fox? “Dawn Treader” is more aimed toward adults than kids. So I’m glad Disney doesn’t own it anymore.

Enjoy the trailer here. Looks awesome. Can’t wait to see it.

BREAKING NEWS: Sam Raimi officially signs on to “Oz: The Great & Powerful”!!!! Robert Downey Jr. in talks to play the leading role…

Walt Disney studios wanted him, they GOT HIM! Well, look like Sam Raimi says yes, to the “Wizard of Oz” prequel after all ’cause he just signed his name on the contract, making it official.

Disney is in talks with Robert Downey Jr. to play, the Wizard of Oz, who was originally played by Frank Morgan. The film will be strictly about Oz. It will tell the story of how Oz landed in that area where Dorothy once visited, and how he became  a Wizard, and all that.

I’m sure Sam Raimi will talk to us more about his idea for the film. Will we see some of the original characters back? Definitely not Dorothy ’cause like I said it wouldn’t work. Maybe the return of the Wicked Witch of the West too? Will we see the return of the dancing and singing, Munchkins? Will the film be dark? Will it be family friendly for the kids? Lots of questions that need to be answered, Mr. Raimi! I’m sure will get answered soon.

Bruce Campbell, I’m sure will be involved with the film. Maybe he’ll have some kind of role in it, too? Hopefully. Sam and Bruce have been best friends for years. Bruce had a cameo role in almost every Sam Raimi flick.

Anyway, looking forward to this project ’cause this is sounding very interesting to me already!

Report: Sam Raimi in talks to direct “Wizard of Oz” prequel…

Now that Sam Raimi is done with Spiderman for good, what’s next for him now? He’s already signed on to “World of Warcraft” live action movie which will be adapted from the popular PC game. Now he is getting close to signing a deal to direct the “Wizard of Oz” prequel, “Oz, The Great and Powerful” by Disney. This one will tell a story of how the Wizard from the original film lands in Oz, the same area where Dorothy visited.

More on it here:

http://www.collider.com/2010/06/11/sam-raimi-oz-the-great-and-powerful-disney/

So you ask, is a “Wizard of Oz” prequel necessary? I would say, yes. There is more to that story to be told. If you think a prequel is ridiculous, you can create more stories with “Wizard of Oz” just as you can with “Star Wars” and “Star Trek”. There are plenty of other books that has done other stories based on “Wizard of Oz”. I would say, “Wicked” for starters, perfect example, the Broadway musical. The Sci-Fi channel has done plenty of “Wizard of Oz” stuff.

I wonder if we’re going to see the characters of the Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man in the Sam Raimi version of “Oz”? Yep, I bet we’re probably going to see those characters again. We won’t see the return of Dorothy of course, ’cause Sam wouldn’t like the idea of Judy Garland being replaced. It can’t happen…but we might get a reference or two of Dorothy in the film, who knows.

I think Sam doing his take on “Oz” is an interesting idea, I’m all for it. I hope Sam signs to it. Oh yeah, wouldn’t it be badass if Bruce Campbell played the Wizard? You know Bruce would be involved with the film somehow, either leading role or cameo.
