Report: Dwayne Johnson to play a villain in “Fast and Furious 5”??? Just my guess…

Can you smell what the Rock is cooking? It may sound silly as hell, but it is turning out to be true that Dwayne Johnson is in talks with Universal Studios to star in “Fast and Furious 5” along with Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. My guess is that they want Dwayne as a villain in the next one? Dwayne to duke it out with Vin Diesel?

I’m a fan of the Fast and Furious movies. I really liked the fourth one. Looking forward to the next one indeed, and lets hope Dwayne says yes to this role!!!

Report: Mission Impossible 4 to hit theaters Dec. 16th 2011…

Even though I’m not much of a Mission Impossible fan, the 4th one is actually very exciting. I for one am looking forward to seeing the trailer for MI:4. We’ll probably see a teaser later this summer. I think a teaser for “MI:4” would be a perfect attachment to the “Expendables” movie when that film comes out in August. Hopefully, “MI:4” will be violent and action packed. I’m sure it will be. You may not see Tom Cruise as an action star, but believe it or not, he is an action star. He’s been in plenty of action movies from the past. 🙂

Report: Ready for another “Planet of the Apes” movie? Prequel on it’s way to the big screen…

I am such a huge fan of the “Planet of the Apes” movies. I even love the new one that was directed by Tim Burton. 20th Century Fox has greenlighted a release date for the prequel of “Planet of the Apes” for June 24th, 2011. Keep in mind folks, that I believe this is the prequel to the 1968 version (pictured above) that starred Charlton Heston. It’s not a prequel to the Tim Burton version.

I don’t know if I will be excited to see this one myself, because as the article said, the prequel plans to use CGI apes instead of using costumes. Tim Burton’s version used costumes, not CGI. Hope they don’t make it a popcorn action movie with full of visual 3D effects. They should stay true to the classic POTA’s movies.

Here is JJ Abrams next directorial project after last year’s “Star Trek”. JJ will direct a film titled, “Super 8” with Steven Spielberg producing. JJ also wrote the script himself.

Report: Joaquin Phoenix mockumentary coming soon to the big screen???

Well Casey Affleck has completed filming of Joaquin Phoenix’s rap career for a mockumentary film for theatres. The film was already shown privately at the WME headquarters, Harvey Weinstein was there and he saw it too. WME is selling the film to a studio to whoever wants to release it and it will only take a few days to make a deal.

Last year, actor Joaquin Phoenix made a shocking announcement that he was going to retire from Hollywood movies for good, to focus on a rap music career. Everyone was trying to figure out if he was serious or just joking. He was making it look like to be serious but people is still trying to figure him out to this day. He’s been creating a lot of controversy like on the David Letterman appearance, the nightclub performances, etc. He was making it seem like an Andy Kauffman, Weird Al or Sasha Baron Cohen type of comic thing.

So is Joaquin Phoenix really done with movies or what? My thoughts: Nah, I don’t think he’s really retired. I don’t believe it for a second. It’s a work, a storyline type of thing as part of the mockumentary to make it seem realistic. I think Joaquin will get back to playing leading roles in films again after he’s done releasing and promoting this. There’s no way he’s giving up movies. If you think about it, him releasing this movie is kind of a hint, he isn’t really retired. He’s too young for retirement. Joaquin just wants to break into the comedy genre and this is his way of getting into it. He’s mostly seen as a drama and thriller type of actor.

You may recognize Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith from the “Matrix” movies. Could be a great choice. The guy makes a great villain.

Report: The Spierig brothers directing “The Dark Crystal” sequel…

Yes, you heard that right, peeps. There is officially a “Dark Crystal” sequel coming soon to the big screen. The Jim Henson company is teaming up with Omnilab Media to bring the sequel from the 1982 fantasy epic, created by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, also the creators of “The Muppet Show”.

The story to the sequel is set centuries later, the world has fallen into darkness once again. A mysterious girl made of fire teams with a Gelfing outcast, came to steal a shard of the legendary Crystal (the crystal seen from the first movie) to reignite the dying sun that exists at the center of the planet. Peter and Michael Spierig will direct.

Another thing to think about, will Frank Oz be involved with the film somehow? Maybe, I don’t know. The sequel sounds interesting, although I don’t agree with the sequel going on without Jim Henson himself. I’ll still go see it if the trailer is good enough.

Edit to add: Another thing to think about everyone is that since this isn’t the 80’s anymore, since the directors from the movie “Daybreakers” (the vampire movie that stars Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe) are helming the “Dark Crystal” sequel, expect them to use plenty of CGI and fancy visual effects. Will they still use puppets in the movie? Possibly…but don’t expect the puppets they used to look like back in the 80’s. They will probably make brand new puppets to make the creatures more realistic. The human characters would probably be puppets just like the original film, but all the monsters and stuff will be different. It will probably be much darker than the original. Will they bring the character Aughra back? What about Jen and Kira? I’m sure we’ll be seeing some of the characters back from the first film for the sequel as well. I hope they don’t mess this up and make it a really good one.

Report: Is Ron Howard interested in directing, “The Dark Tower” movie? Seems that he is…

JJ Abrams, Bad Robot, was once attached to make Stephen King’s “Dark Tower” into a movie, but he bailed out, no longer wanting to do it. Now it seems that Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are interested in making it.  Ron Howard’s, Image Entertainment and Akiva Goldman’s Weed Road are in talks to buying the rights to the “Dark Tower” series from Stephen King. Stephen King himself, owns the rights to these “Dark Tower” novels, and Hollywood has been trying to get them made into films for a very long time. Now it looks it maybe finally happening very soon. Will we ever see a “Dark Tower” movie to the big screen? Maybe not right away, but it won’t come out in theaters for the next few years.

I have read all the Dark Tower books and can always see them being films on the big screen, not being on the TV in mini-series movies.

Ron Howard hasn’t been confirmed to direct yet, but maybe he wants the rights ’cause he’s interested in helming the first movie. It’ll be nice if Ron Howard gets back to the action/sci fi roots like he did with the movie “Willow” and others.

Who will play Roland the Gungslinger? I still would like Hugh Jackman to play him, but I have a feeling Howard/Grazer would probably go for no one other than Russell Crowe.

Report: “Commando” remake on it’s way to the big screen…

20th Century Fox has set David Ayer to write and direct the upcoming, “Commando” remake. The 1985 action flick that starred, Arnold.

More on it here:

http://www.deadline.com/2010/04/fox-to-remake-famed-schwarzenegger-pic/

Some may hate the idea of a “Commando” remake, but honestly, I like it. I think “Commando” is one Arnold movie that deserves one. Who will play Arnold’s character, John Matrix? He obviously needs to be big and muscular like Arnold, so they would need a bodybuilder/actor to fit the role. I would think 20th Century Fox would go for a younger actor.

They won’t go for Taylor Lautner ’cause he’s way too young for the role. They need a guy in their 30’s.

My pick is Dwayne Johnson!

Report: Wes Craven finally reveals “Scream 4” plot, also confirms three more sequels…

Just when you thought Wes Craven is done with “Scream”, think again. He plans to do a whole new trilogy of the franchise.  Craven also reveals the plot to the next film, “Scream 4”. Craven explains that the film is set 10 years after the third one. Leaving right off the last one. It tells a story about Sidney Prescott, moving on to a new life,  and she is now an author who wrote a book that got some bad critics. Of course, she can’t stop thinking about her past with the Ghostface killer as there will probably be a lot of flashbacks from the first three films. With it being a Scream movie, she’ll have to confront the killer again, so somewhere in the movie, she probably finds out that he’s still alive.

More on it here:

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/17031/wes-craven-talks-scream-4-story

The plot sounds pretty interesting to me. Wes Craven must of been inspired for more story ideas for more Scream sequels. At least they are continuing with him being the director, still. If they continued with a different director, they would be a failure in the box office. Only Craven can do these films.
