Report: Patrick Stewart to star in “Mad Max: Fury Road”???

Huge rumour hit the nets that Sir Patrick Stewart might be starring in “Mad Max: Fury Road” that stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. Somebody named, TrekGirl wrote to AICN telling them about it. It probably is true that Patrick maybe starring in a George Miller movie, but it might not be “Mad Max” either but it could be a different one.

Anyway, I’m happy to hear Patrick is finally making a comeback to Hollywood. With him possibly starring in “Mad Max 4” and him coming back as Prof. X for Bryan Singer’s “X-Men 4”, it’s looking good. Like  Patrick is missing being on the big screen and wants to make his Star Trek and X-Men fans happy.

Report: Warner Bros. studios responds back to Simon Monjack’s lawsuit threats…

Just a while back, Brittany Murphy’s husband blamed Warner Bros. studios for the death of Brittany Murphy. Accused the studios of making her upset for not being a part of “Happy Feet 2” animated film. Simon plans to sue Warner Bros. for wrongful death.

Well guess what, it didn’t take long for Warner Bros. to hear about Simon’s lawsuit threat and they responded back to him immediately.

WB’s said Simon’s claim is false and defamatory. WB’s also said she never entered to audition for “Happy Feet 2” and there was no contract to cancel.

More on it here:

Simon’s lawsuit will get himself no where fast. If I were him, he should back off immediately or he’ll lose everything he got. WB’s would probably counter-sue if he does file the suit. Don’t mess with Hollywood or you’ll get a good kick in the ass, hard.

Film Review: The Lovely Bones

Starring: Saoirse Ronan, Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci

Directed by: Peter Jackson

Today, on a cold Winter afternoon, I have seen the newest Peter Jackson movie, “The Lovely Bones”, now that I have a day off from work.

Here is my review:

Plot/Synopsis: “Lord of the Rings” and “King Kong” director, Peter Jackson is back with a new film but he goes back to his roots to the genre where he started. Horror. The story centers around a young girl named Susie Salmon who was brutally murdered  by her neighbor, George Harvey (the villain of the film), who is a child serial killer who makes dollhouses for a living. Her family which her parents are played by Mark Walhberg and Rachel Weisz thinks she’s dissapeared but doesn’t know if she is alive or dead. When she is actually dead, she finds herself in heaven. She watches her family from heaven and as the film goes along she plots her revenge against her killer.

This film was adapted from the novel by author, Alice Sebold. While most wouldn’t think of this as a horror story, yes, I would think it is horror fiction, big time, but in a family friendly kind of way. Horror doesn’t always have to be about blood guts and slasher murders, right?

I enjoyed the film, greatly. Enjoyed it all the way through. Wasn’t bored one bit. The film was a full 2 hours long. The writing, and acting was excellent. George Harvey was a pretty cool villain. Even Mark Walhberg was entertaining in this. I thought the special effects and cinematography during the heaven scenes were pretty amazing. With James Cameron 3D effects are on the rise, you think Peter Jackson would use the similar 3D effects during the heaven sequences in this film. The film was pretty unpredictable and the pacing was good.

The Lovely Bones may not be as big in the box office, but that’s probably because it isn’t LOTR or King Kong. “The Lovely Bones” is my favorite film this year so far. Amazing work, Peter Jackson. Looking forward to what he can do with his upcoming Hobbit films?

Score for “The Lovely Bones” = **** (4 stars as in “excellent”)

Report: Tilda Swinton says she’s definitely game to playing Conan O’ Brien for his biopic film…

On one of Conan’s final shows, he joked that if there was ever a biopic film of his, he said would like to have Tilda Swinton play him. It was meant to be a joke at first…but Tilda Swinton herself heard it and just said at Sundance Festival which she attended in person, that she is definitely game to playing Conan. If there was ever a Conan O’ Brien biopic movie in the works, she would do it in a heartbeat!

More on it here:

I honestly think a Conan O’ Brien biopic film would be a good idea. I agree that Tilda would be perfect. Females has played male characters before. Cate Blanchett played a male character in, “I’m Not There” the Bob Dylan movie.

A movie about Cocco’s life would be cool. It would start from his childhood all the way to now. Lets hope the movie industry have this in the planning stages. Wouldn’t surprise me if studios are talking about it now.

Thought: Sorry, but James Cameron does NOT deserve the Oscar spotlight this year….Kathryn Bigelow deserves it more!!!

I’ve said it once before and will say it again! “Avatar” was okay, but nothing amazing or all that special! “Avatar” IS NOT Oscar worthy. Although I have a feeling that James Cameron will once again sweep everything, money and power will do that, I think it’s safe to say that Kathryn Bigelow deserves the Oscar spotlight more than anything else that’s out now.

“The Hurt Locker” is such an amazing, and phenomenal movie. Everything about “The Hurt Locker”, is so perfect. The filming, the writing, the acting, etc. All of it.

Quentin Tarantino for “Inglourious Basterds” would be my 2nd choice to get the Oscar spotlight.

James Cameron doesn’t even belong in it. “The Hurt Locker” is one of the best new war movies I’ve seen in a long time. If James Cameron didn’t release “Avatar” and waited longer, I’m sure Tarantino or Bigelow would get their chance instead.

Oscar nominations will be revealed next Tuesday so it might be a little different than the Golden Globes. If “Avatar” doesn’t win for “Best Picture” this year and something else wins, I’ll be shocked and happy. It’s most likely this will be James Cameron’s year again.

Cool Video: Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” hits DVD this week…here’s a clip of “Earth Song” from the film…

Well, Michael Jackson’s concert movie, “This is It” just hit the DVD stores today. I plan to go to the mall this Thursday for something to do since I have this week off of work. While I’m doing fun shopping for myself later this week, I will also pick up “This is It” movie. I suggest all to see it. Even the haters should see it as well. To those that don’t like MJ, once you see this film, maybe you would gain more respect for the guy after. I still stand by it by my review of this movie that MJ wasn’t a fake. He didn’t lip synch this rehearsal, you would know when you see this film, he directed the whole concert himself and had complete control of everything himself. He certainly had a vision indeed. Michael Jackson was a perfectionist and he certainly will not give up until he gets what he wants.

I also forgot to predict that “This Is It” could get a nomination for Best Picture at the Oscars as well.

Report: “Weird” Al Yankovic announces he will direct/write his first live action featured film for Cartoon Network…

“Weird” Al Yankovic is not just a musician, he has also been involved with films for most of his entire life as well. Yes, he’s an actor, director, writer and producer. As you all know Al Yankovic has starred the leading role in “UHF” and a string of cameos in many other comedy flicks. He has also directed many music videos as well.

Al finally gets his opportunity to make his debut film. Not sure if it will be shown in theater or direct to TV for Cartoon Network or not, but this will be a strictly live action. It will not involve animation although the deal was made through Cartoon Network.

Al says this is not a sequel to “UHF”. He revealed that he will have a cameo in it. He will write and direct this movie. He said the leading star will be male, and will be a teenager. So something tells me that either Justin Bieber or one of the Jonas Brothers will get the lead?

See Al’s blog on it here:

“Welcome to the Rileys” surprisingly getting strong reviews online…

The independent film which stars Kristen Stewart and James Gandolfini, “Welcome to the Rileys” is getting great reviews online. I don’t like Kristen Stewart that much like a lot of people…but critics are reviewing this film giving it positive reviews. Saying that this is Kristen’s best acting. Better than her acting in the “Twilight” series. Kristen plays a 16 year old stripper/prostitute in the film while she has an aggressive father who has her under his control. The reason I want to see this is not because Kristen may have a few nudie scenes in it, I wanna see it ’cause it looks interesting. The story sounds interesting, plus James Gandolfini rules. Since this is an indie film, you wouldn’t be able to see this unless you attended Sundance festival. So I’ll have to wait to see this film when it hits DVD.

Report: Gremlins 3D coming to the big screen? A third installment, not a remake is in the works…

It was just announced that not only that there is another “Ghostbusters” movie on the way, there is also another “Gremlins” movie coming. Just to keep in mind, the next Gremlins movie will be the third installment to the trilogy, it won’t be a remake or a reboot. So that means, Gizmo, the furry little hero and the villain, Stripe, might be coming back, I’m sure.

This is really great news as I fuckin’ loved both Gremlins movies!!! The third Gremlins movie will be made in 3D and possibly returning to direct is Joe Dante who did the first two Gremlins movies.

Man, if they can bring back Zack Galligan as Billy again and Corey Feldman to come back as Pete Fountaine, that would be sweet! Lets hope they keep Gizmo and the Gremlins as puppets and not as CGI animated. I’m glad to hear the news of Gremlins and it would be successful. I’m sure they’ll be plenty of CGI effects and plenty of popcorn action, but lets hope they keep the creatures puppets.

The first Gremlins movie was absolutely amazing and one of my favorite childhood films of all times! Bring on Gremlins 3D! I’m all for it! Also, lets hope they keep the original theme song.
